Got this one from a fellow Hammerhead from TX (you the man G!) Had this one for a couple years now, but seemed to have forgotten about it as newer stuff came in. Big mistake! Took this one to league last night to help bust out of an early season slump. Should have done it much sooner. Lanes were dressed fairly heavy, but the Sledge had no trouble cutting through it. Great read in the midlane and excellent entry angle resulted in high game of the early season for me. Ball instilled something I've been missing this year- confidence! Sometimes that's the most important thing. Will not discount the potential of this classic and won't hesitate to go to it in the future! You Hammerheads know what I'm talking about. Spike

Solid ball. This is my second Sledge that I've drilled as the first was a 16lb. I made a stupid mistake and gave this to a friend. When I found out he was getting rid of it, I gladly took it back into the nest and have showed it nothing but love since!! Strong ball in the oil. Not heavy, heavy oil, but moreso than the THS will lay out. Hard arcing ball and probably second best retro Hammer ball I have with the Hi-Rev being the best. Ball can handle wide range of lane conditions but with current drill, I notice it loses effectiveness as lanes go sour. Ball visibly roll out, but you can tell when the ball has burnt its energy.<scrip

When I went to my driller to redrill this ball, I asked him to make it as smooth as possible...what I got was a beast that goes long and snaps real well in the backends. Obviously not what I intended, but better than I expected. 1:30 drilling on this ball, gives it good length and very good backend motion, not necessarily a flip, but a VERY hard arc. The ball is very forgiving on tougher medium shots and plays pretty well in transition too because of its forgiveness. Pretty funny story with this ball...I was throwing it in practice and started the game off with a ditch, spare, then went sheet until the 10th where I left a spare and then ditched on the fill ball. Ended up throwing 256 starting with a gutter ball and finishing with a gutterball. This obviously doesn't tell you anything about the ball, it's just a fairly humorous story.

PICKED UP THIS "GEM" TO TRY A DRILL WITHOUT VACCUGRIPS, AND THAT PART IS WELL AND GOOD. BUT I WAS EXPECTING SOMETHING A LITTLE BETTER THAN THIS THING. EASY THROUGH THE HEADS AND A NICE SHARP ARC IN THE BACK. BUT THE WAY THIS BALL HITS AND CARRIES IS A COMPLETE JOKE. BURY THIS BALL IN THE HOLE AND THREE THINGS MAY HAPPEN: YOU MAY STRIKE, LAZY TEN, OR RUNG TEN WITH NO NOISE FROM THE PIN DECK. I WILL ADMIT IT HAS A BEAUTIFUL REACTION THOUGH AND THAT IS WHY MY RATING OF IT IS SO HIGH. I MAY BUY SOME MORE HAMMER STUFF TO THROW IN OUR HANDICAP DOUBLES LEAGUE TO PAD MY AVERAGE A LITTLE. UGH, ILL STICK TO MY LANE 1 STUFF THANKS.

actually this ball was given to me after it was used for 50 games, cause the person said it was wore out. hmm well i had it resurfaced and soaked it in a cleaner and been bowling with it for 100 games without a problem. does good when there's plenty of oil and lanes are in good shape, once lanes were burnt forget it put it away. i still use it but only as a third ball or to pick up seven pins whens lanes are dry so i do not have to change my mark during game lol

I have enjoyed Fab products ever since I began bowling seriously, and this one continues to show me why! I bought this ball used off of the internet a couple of years ago, simply because it was inexpensive. I paid around $40 w/shipping for it, and have probably made in excess of $1000 with it since. When I first got it I found that when it was shined up it reacted exremely well on drier conditions. However, as I changed houses and began bowling more tournaments I realized that I wanted it to be more aggressive. All it took was a few minutes in the spinner to make this ball into an extremely strong ball for oil. I have found this ball to be very strong in oil, with a hard, controllable backend. This ball hits extremely well, (a typical hammer!), and is very user friendly. I would recommend this ball to anyone, regardless of what condition that you are looking to conquer. The coverstock is durable and versatile, the hit is remarkable, this is just a fantastic ball all the wa

My style is a mid rev tweener, with longer than average length and good backend power This ball has been a great addition to my arsenal. It has tremendous carry on the long patterens at my house. bought this ball off a friend of mine whom thought the ball was dying, had the ball resurfaced back to box condition, and wow... ball rips extremely hard. All you need to do with this ball is lay it out there and let the ball eat upo the oil pattern. If i had this much carry with all my other balls i would only need one ball. thanx faball <scr

The Sledge Hammer was my first (and to date best) reactive ball. It was originally purchased with the intention of battling heavily oiled lanes. In the 2+ years I've owned it, it has settled nicely into my medium to heavy lane destroyer. My Sledge is drilled 3x1.5, resulting in a 12:00 layout. The CG is even with grip center. A balance hole rests about 2" past PAP online with grip center. This puts the HOT spot in the strong position. The first time I threw the Sledge it hooked like nothing I'd ever thrown. After a few practice games I learned how it reacts and proceeded to tear it up from there. The Sledge is a smooth reacting ball. No mysteries, no sharp snaps, just a smooth hard arc. It really digs in to crush the pocket on fresher back ends. And, oh yeah, the carry is tremendous. Though this ball is 2+ years old, it's still my ol' reliable for medium to oily conditions. There are better balls when carry down comes into play, but I can usually battle through it by s

When I got this ball over two and a half ago, I thought it was a monster. Then I can down with an extremely bad case of tendinitis, and had to take a lot of time away from bowling. When I came back this thing was no longer the monster it was when I stopped bowling. The equipment that has come out in the last 2-1/2 has completely changed the amount of oil being used today. What I thought at one time was a beast is now an excellent medium condition ball. I like keeping this one between 800 and 1,000 grit, as I get a much more consistant ball reaction. This ball has a very smooth, and controlable hook and hits well. It isn't the best hitting ball I have ever thrown, but it gets the job done. Overall, I give this one a 7 out of 10. It is a decent bowling ball, but there is a lot of new stuff out there that can get the job done better.
