Columbia 300 Messenger Blue Bowling Ball

The solid aggressive coverstock grabs the lane at the end of the oil to increase the sharpness of the breakpoint. Creates dynamic ball properties generating track flare to increase friction with the lane. In the nautical blue, this Messenger™ sails. Its high-performance Super-Flex™ coverstock gives it greater hook and a sharper break point. In oil conditions, control just gets better with every throw because of its lane-gripping action. A masterful navigator.

This ball has been part of my arsenal since it was released. It still reacts as well as it did when I first started using it. It has probably the most durable coverstock that I've ever seen. As old as it is, it shows only monor scratches. This thing works on all but the lightest and shortest oil conditions. Medium-light to heavy oil or anything in between poses no problem. Anyone who has trouble with this ball better look to themselves or their driller because this is one of the smoothest, most predictable pieces of equipment that I have ever used.

I thought that this ball was a condition ball. I found that it would only work on one type of lane condition that I have found!!!!!!!!! This ball rolled out almost every time I thew it. I tried it in almost ten different types of ball surfaces but I found out that it kept on rolling out. This ball was not versital. It only worked once on one condition which was on medium oil and the oil patern was a cristmas tree shaped pattern. I did not like this ball at all. I think it would be better for a left handed bowler but it did not work for me!!!!!!

As I posted in an earlier review, i bought this ball and it came with a matte finish. I sanded it down to give me that extra grip through the heads, but still have that consistent Super-Flex backend power. I have since purchased another Messenger, the B/S/P Titanium that has ALOT more power than the nautical blue so it would stay in the bag unless I did'nt have a shot with the Ti, which only happens when the lanes are so dry that I can't hit the right side of the pocket. So, I got my pro to give it a beautiful polished finish. Not only did it look beautiful, but gave me that missing ammo in my aresenal of bowling balls. When polished, it gives it a chance to break through the heads, but still conserves a great deal of power for a perfect finish on the pines. Overall, it is a great ball sanded or polished, but I personally liked the Nautical Blue Messenger polished :)

I have this ball drilled standard over the label and as polished as I can get it. I can crank this ball with a lot of constancy through the mid lane on a regular house shot and during a tournament when the lanes start to dry up, I pull this blue baby out of the bag and can play it almost anywhere. Plus the coverstock is very easy to change, giving you a variety of shot choices. If polished may skid and swim if pushed out to far on flat oil patterens, but it will "Grip and Filp" on the dry.<scrip

I feel that this ball is very versatile. I am an advanced bowler with a 210 average and find the ball perfect for me. It grips in heavy oil without having to crank it. While at the same time, can easily be effective on drier conditions with minor changes. Also, I think it is a great ball for someone who wants to move up to a more aggressive ball without losing the control of a less aggressive ball. Another great thing about the Messenger is that it was very affordable and at the same time gave me that $200 and up ball performance.
