Let's keep it simple, if you know how to bowl and can adjust to more than one style of shot. Then this is a great ball for you. But if you're one of those bowlers who only throws it one way, than forget about this ball... I know bowlers better than me who can't use this ball. The only reason they can't use the ball is because they are stubborn veteran bowlers who only stick to what they know. Hey, to each their own.. but don't knock the balling ball because you are not willing to adjust to the shot..

The ball is great!! It has lots of backend but when the lanes dry up you can get some length out of it. Working for a pro shop I would recomend it to anyone that wants a big hooking ball! Another words its one of the best balls on the market! Columbia has done a wonderful job on all of there last balls. Starting with the Reaction Rev all the way down to the wild!!! Great balls for great bowlers. So if you are looking for a good hard hitting ball then really consider the columbia line of products. Ask your your local pro shop the right one for your style!!

The ball hits nice with a very predictable hook with little deflection. I use the ball after the first game (when the lanes are medium oily) from 17 back to 10 about 45 feet down and the ball hits very, very hard. I have it drilled aggressive and It works well for me in light to medium oil. Any more oil than this and I need to use another ball. Maybe this Icon2 will work on oilier conditions if you scuff it up, but I have not tried it yet. I cannot use this ball on dry conditions either. This is a great ball for a normal house shot.<scrip

Great ball from Columbia 300 , good ball for all speeds.Easy to control does'nt over react . Try one on for yourself you wont be disappointed .I've tried all brands of bowling balls , nothing hits like Columbia . Make sure when you buy a ball , that it compliments your game, style , and the condition you bowl on . Many people want a ball that hooks 50 boards beacause they are impressed with the big hook , but if that is not your style it will hurt your game , and your ave trying to change to suit the ball which is not the best to do if it is not the style you play. Remember coverstock,. weightblock, axis ,type of shot ,and type of lanes .Get a ball that compliments the lanes your shot crush the pins Good luck and keep bowling Jim Argie

This ball is very average. It carrys well (so has every ball I've bought in the last 5 years) That's about the only nice thing I can say about it. Despite a hook rating of over 50 it doesn't hook anymore than my Messenger Ti. ANY reference to the ball possessing mid-lane motion is just a unbelieveable expect on the shortest and lightest of oil patterns. I would not by this ball again. I've tried every imaginable line on my house shot during league and it just slides down the lane. The Icon 2 does not hook any until it hits dry and then I would describe the reaction as very average for a high end ball. Since I originally wrote this I have had the ball sanded to take off the factory shine and it move better still not the massive hook I was expecting.

was a 150 avg bowler and never broke 200 in my life........my first 4 games with the Icon2.....228, 224, 225, 220. What can i say, this ball has changed my game. I've never thrown so many strikes in a game that i do now.............my first game with the ball i opened with 4 in a row, 2 spares an open, 4 more in a row and an 8. Bowling is fun to me now, i throw the ball and know where its going....its unbelievable ........maybe its the place i bowl at and not the fact the ball can't take a lickin, but i've only bowled 4 games with the ball and it has quite a few scratches on it already....not smudges...scratches....you can feel the litlle indentions....nothing major i don't think.<scri

at first i really didnt like this ball , but in the last few months i havent used anything else. i bowl on all conditions and it seems to react well on all conditions. it carries very well except for the occassional 10 pin, but u cant carry them all all the time. i just recently bowled a 300 and an 831 series with this ball. if anyone out there has one thats 16 lbs. that they dont like, drop me a line, i will buy another. i need to take up 14 words in this review, so i am writing this sentence, ok, thats good! Thanks..

When i started to bowl some 5 years ago, i played with Columbia Chaos, ROCK and Messenger Ti. I tried some other brands the last years....until a week ago i was playing APEX Adrenaline, Storm Ttrauma ER and Brunswick Command ZONE ARC....the are all great balls but nothing compares to ICON 2....this ball is great..... ICON 2 is my first choice on medium-heavy lanes....i like to play straight shots with an aggressive backend and this ball does it for me... sometimes this ball goes a bit to far down the lanes, in that case i play my Hammer Vicous, and if the lanes are really dry i play my 5 year old Messenger TI ( Thats a great bowlingball!) If my English is hard to understand....sorry i.m Swedish!

Well I got the ball a half of a year ago and it rapes. I took it strait out of the box and wam shot 730 (257, 241, 231). This ball is the best if the lanes are medium oil. I have heard that a lot of people say that it doesn't keep its reaction very long but they are wrong. I have had mine for a long time and it has done good for me and continues to do so and I do not even get that many revs. So for anyone looking for a great ball this is the one.

I bought this ball with the expectation that it will carry down significantly longer than my current Ebonite Apex. The pro shop from which I purchased it is located in a house with synthetic lanes (which I really do not like), but I went ahead and threw a couple of games to ensure proper fit. This ball was a piece of dynamite on synthetics with a beautiful backend. According to my pro, the core is realitively tame and the coverstock does the work. I then tried this ball on my league lanes which are wood. The first night we had moderate oil and I had to adjust by lessening my speed due to the increased carry, but the ball snapped in the back and performed well. The next week the lanes were quite dry and I adjusted my stance and increased my speed accordingly with very good results. One word of caution however: with dry lanes I noticed that if I did not put that ball out to the right between 5 & 10 board with decent speed, I would hit the head pin straight on, roll out and split! I had this ball drilled so that it would go long then snap at the end. Tried it out on synthetic lane and it didn't quite grip the lanes. Must have been the oil, dunno that much 'coz i am only a beginner. I am planning on trying it out on wood one of these days. I was expecting a bit more hook though. Nevertheless, I would recommend this ball to other bolwers for their 2nd ball. I really dig the color of this ball. Pretty cool of Columbia to pick such colors. Negative stuff: after using it for two weeks I found out that my Icon2 had the same sickness with that of other bowlers. What i though was just a scratch turned out to be a crack. I dunno about you guys but I wouldn't buys this ball if I were you.......a real big disappointment!!!!!!!!!!!!

I got this ball as my first high performance ball. It was reccomended to me buy some very experienced bowlers, and i'm glad i took their advice. This ball holds out...it looks pretty bad, but then the crazy backend kicked in. It's unbelievable. It was between this and the icon 2. While the icon is a great ball (i've thrown it before) i personally liked the icon 2 with my style of play more. This ball can be used for a wide variety of plays, don't get me wrong. I really couldn't be happier with this ball.

This ball is great. We drilled it pin negative so it would clear the front part of the lane with a lot of energy and then be strong in the back... I've gotten a little deeper with this ball than I normally would (third-fourth arrow) and the reaction has been great, and when they're dry on the inside, it rolls a ton and still carries well . I seem to think that the Icon is a little stronger in the back than this ball, and that the Icon2 has a better chance at being a late shift ball. That could be due to my drilling also.

My overall review of the Icon2 is definately one of praise. I started off cranking the ball which is my normal shot and the ball reacted perfectly. It got down the lane even better than i thought and came back even stronger. Then just to try it, I threw it straight up 6 and the ball held its line and I was still able to control it. I have only tried the ball on med- oil So theres still alot of lane conditions to test it against, but as of right now I couldn't be happier with the ball.

Great for power players. Don't buy if you can't handle the hook. Works great on most shots, but am waiting eagerly to throw it on a sport shot. Absolutely amazing ball for all but the longest of patterns. Thrown 25 games with it. If it doesn't die, I will probably buy another one and set it up for a swinging shot. Well worth the $150 I payed for it; just hope that it pays for it's self. The only thing that wouldn't do, is sand it. I'll leave that spot to be filled by my regular Icon. So far, so good. Love this ball.
