I've loved both of the first two Gremlins, but the Wicked is a different kind of beast! The overall strength of the coverstock on this ball makes it perfect for fresh or heavy oil patterns. It has a massive amount of midlane traction, but it still continues through the pins really well. As with any ball with a strong sanded cover, this thing needs oil! When the Wicked gets to be too much ball, the Gremlin Tour-X is a great step down.

My Specs: Speed: (13-16 mph), Approx Rev Rt: (280-320), PAP: 4.25 x ½↑, Tilt: 10° Layout: 5x5x4 REVIEW: For me, I wanted this ball to be more of a transition piece (since I have so many other aggressive Asym solids like the Crux AI) where it could read more in the midlane and roll in the pocket downlane, so I put a very laid back layout on it, 5x5x4. I first tried the Wicked on a fresh house shot on Pro-Lanes with a medium volume 43 ft pattern. I was having a hard time getting the ball to read, seemed to me like it was just skating and not grabbing, which would make sense since the G-R1 cover does not have any nano particles in it at all. I also tried on SPL beds with a 42 ft medium volume and HPL beds with a 43 ft medium volume Glide conditioner pattern. I had the exact same results for all three scenarios. Before league in the SPL house, I hit the cover with a slightly used 1000k pad, and as we said in the 90’s WHOOP THERE IT IS!! Giving the Wicked a little more surface really woke the ball up for me and now it is exactly what I was looking for. Great midlane read, really good continuous downlane motion and a nice crack at the pocket. I think if I had to drill another one, I would put my benchmark layout on it which is 4x4x2, much more aggressive core position and pin buffer. Overall, my thoughts on the Wicked is that if you are wanting a good solid Asym that doesn’t hook at your feet, the Wicked is just the ball for you. After spending some time with the new Wicked Gremlin, I've come away impressed with its versatility and overall performance. The ball provides a strong read in the oil while still retaining plenty of energy for a noticeable move off the spot. It's not as early or aggressive as some of the biggest asymmetrical pieces in the SPI lineup, which actually makes it easier to match up for a variety of bowlers and conditions. For anyone looking for a reliable asymmetric that blends the lane and still drives through the pins, the Wicked Gremlin deserves a serious look. Give it enough oil, and it'll reward you with a strong, continuous motion and outstanding continuation through the pocket.

Roto Grip Wicked Gremlin Cover: G-R1™ Solid Reactive – 2,000 Grit Core: Rondure™ MaxD (Asymmetrical) Color: Citrine/Red/Purple Review: This series has been a fun release with a great name, color, and new/old tech. Like the original Gremlin, this ball does not have A.I. core technology that everyone is loving (Not sure why? No need for earlier hook?... but it does not seem to matter because this ball continues like crazy). This ball is basically a slightly modified version of the Rubicon. Our style: tweener, 350-375 revs, 16.5mph, layout of choice is 5x4x2 (pin is above bridge). There is not much asymmetry in this core so it is clean but the new coverstock really seems to grip the lane and provide quite a bit more movement than you may expect. If you are expecting this ball to be a step down from say an Ion Max Solid or Equinox Solid, you may be surprised. This ball overall has similar hook but because it does not have the A.I. core we feel it is more balanced throughout the lane and avoids that over/under feel, allowing us to stay in this piece longer on the fresh. The Roto Grip Wicked Gremlin drilled 4-4-3.5 has been a great addition to my bag, giving me a strong and predictable reaction downlane. It reads the midlane smoothly while still providing plenty of continuation through the pins. The 4-4-3.5 layout gives me a nice balance of control and backend motion, making it versatile across different lane conditions. Overall, it’s a reliable ball that I can trust when I need a consistent reaction.

I was amazed by the New Gremlin Wicked for sure. Has a great mid lane reading and an awesome back end for a solid bowling ball. I'm very happy with how it rolls. With league season coming up, and even league season tournaments, this ball rolls amazing and can't wait to throw it more. I love the original Gremlin, I love the Gremlin tour and now the Wicked??!! It just shapes very well, and its fun to watch the wicked roll. Sure its a solid, a first shift, first game ball, heavier oil ball...but its seams a little easier to watch this ball go down the lane, and make the move if and when you need to. Then keep it in your hands a lot longer. It's an A+ in my eyes!

It’s got a lot of cover (strong solid reactive) and a lot of differential (0.058) so it picks up and flares! For the price point the ball is a ton of performance! Some of our bigger balls like Alpha Crux, Ion Max, roll REALLY early and burn up. The Wicked Gremlin is a little bit cleaner because it is straight reactive with no nano loads. If you’re bowling on a bad surface or light volume, Wicked Gremlin is a great ball 1 alternative that’s not going to bog down too much but still be plenty strong overall.

The Wicked Gremlin is the strongest Gremlin of them all. I believe if you own all 3 Gremlins you would have all the bases covered to compete at a high level. The Gremlin line is probably the one line that works on house patterns and sport. The Wicked Gremlin is a monster on heavy oil patterns.

The Wicked Gremlin is strong and reads the midlane really well without being too jumpy downlane. It gives me a smooth, continuous shape and handles more oil without burning up too early. This will definitely be one of my first balls out of the bag on the fresh!

I drilled my WICKED GREMLIN at 4.5 X 5 x 3 (VLS). I threw it in box condition to see how it compared to some other pieces in this slot of bigger and early ball. The WICKED GREMLIN is not as early for me as my ALPHA CRUX remake or my ION MAX PRO, but it is stronger moving in the back ends when those two start to slow down too much. Compared to my GREMLIN TOUR-X (GTX), the WICKED GREMLIN is about an arrow stronger and has that same continuous motion on the back end. For me to get more function out of this one, I am going to smooth it to 4000 so it can complement the ALPHA as a ball down and be a good option before going to the GTX or the symmetric pieces.

The new Roto Grip Wicked Gremlin features the same Rondure Maxd core as the original Gremlin, but the Wicked features a new G-R1 (Grip Response) solid coverstock finished at 2000 grit abralon. At 15 pounds this ball has an RG of 2.50 with a differential of .058 and an intermediate differential of .010. I drilled this ball 5x5x2 putting the pin above my bridge. The Wicked Gremlin is a much stronger version of the original Gremlin. The Wicked reads the lane about 5 feet sooner than the original and has a much more controlled backend motion. For me this ball fits between the big asymmetrical balls and the original Gremlin. The Wicked works best when there is enough oil that I can keep my target in front of me. The more I have to open my angles the more I start to leave the weak corner pins. That’s when it is time to pull out the original Gremlin. These two little monsters make a scary 1-2 punch!!

The Wicked Gremlin from Roto Grip is the latest addition to the HP3 line and I’ve been impressed with it so far. I’ve had a ton of success with the original Gremlin as well as the Gremlin Tour-X, so when the news was released about the Wicked Gremlin, I was excited to drill it. The biggest difference on this release is the coverstock. Our experts in Utah developed the Grip-Response coverstock which is designed without nano, but is still designed to read the mid-lane with incredible stability. Sometimes, bowlers might say that a ball ‘burns’ up, but this ball is designed to still pick up in the right spot, but also be designed for mid-heavy oil conditions. I’ve drilled one so far and really like it. I think I’ve liked the Gremlin line so much is because the RG is a touch higher (2.50) so the balls don’t read as early and I’m able to use them for a longer period of time throughout a block. It’s been a perfect ball to use once an Ion Max Pearl or Transform are done performing. I mapped it out as 5.5 x 5 x 2. I wanted a taller pin to create a bit of a faster response time and it’s given me just a little earlier read than the Gremlin Tour X, so both of those will be traveling with me everywhere I go. I think it’s worth drilling a Wicked and a Gremlin Tour X. They’ve been awesome on multiple patterns and surfaces!

Wicked Gremlin is a welcome addition to the SPI lineup of solid asyms. This ball is non-A.I. and non-Nano, so the hook shape is more traditional, and the cover is cleaner and more responsive than our stronger options. This ball does offer a familiar shape to the original Gremlin, which was one of my favorites. I have found that I like the Wicked Gremlin for fresh conditions when balls like Equinox Solid and Viking Conquest are a bit too much too soon, or off of balls like that as the lanes stretch or cliff. A cleaner solid is typically more usable for a longer window, and that is definitely my experience with the Wicked Gremlin. Where I can start in those other balls for the first game or two, I've used Wicked Gremlin deep into 5 and 7 game qualifying blocks and had no issue getting it to clear the front and face up. This is a great option in the solid asym lineup for anyone who is rev dominant or bowls on a lot of friction but still needs that earlier ball to blend them out. -Chase Valenzuela

Tilt 20. Rotation 50. Speed at release 17 Review: The Wicked Gremlin has the most hook potential in the Gremlin line. This ball’s cover reads the lane early and has a continuous move to the pocket. I tested this ball on our regular house shot and it was just too early and strong for the condition. The tendencies of the ball are to read early and be predictable in higher volume. I put a light polish over the 2000 box surface and the ball played much better. The polish allowed the Wicked Gremlin to save energy, get down the lane easier and hit harder. This ball is just under my Alpha Crux and above my Monsoon in total hook potential at box surface. The gremlin balls have been rolling and selling well and at the price point this trend should continue. There are now three nice options in the Gremlin line. The Wicked will be a good choice for those who bowl on slicker conditions or need a ball to rev up sooner. Summary: The Roto Grip Wicked Gremlin is a strong ball. If you're looking for a ball that can handle the fresh and give you confidence when the lanes have some oil, the Wicked Gremlin is definitely one I'd recommend. I drilled this one 4x4x2 for a one-handed bowler with 14.5 mph ball speed and 350 RPM, and on a normal house shot it gave us a strong, predictable read through the midlane with plenty of continuation through the pins. The G-R1 Solid Reactive cover is designed to provide good traction without becoming overly aggressive, making the ball easier to control while still giving you the hook you need. Bottom line: If you want traction, control, and strong continuation, the Wicked Gremlin is a ball worth taking a serious look at

The Roto Grip Wicked Gremlin features the Rondure MaxD Core wrapped around the G-R1 Solid Cover. I drilled mine 4.5 x 4 x 2. This ball is smooth and controllable off the breakpoint, making it ideal for the fresh on medium-length patterns with higher volume. It gives you a strong, predictable read without being overly aggressive down lane. I also think this will be a great option for lower-rev bowlers who are looking for a bigger ball that allows them to play further outside without the ball burning up too quickly. The Wicked Gremlin gives you the traction you need while maintaining a smooth, controlled motion. If you're looking for a strong, smooth piece that you can trust on the fresh, the Wicked Gremlin is definitely one to consider.

Bowling Hand: Right Style: Tweener PAP: 5 5/8 over and 5/8 up Layout: 50 x 4 ¾ x 30 Bowling Ball Surface: OOB Rev Rate: 350 rpm. The Wicked Gremlin is on a different level compared to the other two gremlins that have been previously released. For me, this ball is very strong. I bowl on older HPLs with Kegel glide oil and on the house shot (41 feet), I cannot throw this ball up the boards. This ball wants to hook at 30-35 feet and just go left. When I try and swing it, the ball will carry at first but in the later games, I notice it burns up. I also have tried this on a longer oil pattern (Route 66 V2) and this ball shined on the 45-foot pattern. I was able to play much straighter and keep the ball in front of me. When I first drilled this ball up, I was expecting to be a stronger Rockstar. It is that and more! For me, I feel this ball is on the same level of the Alpha Crux, maybe even more. Since Roto Grip retired the Hyper Drive, I feel if you need a strong heavy rolling solid, this ball is what you are looking for. After 5 games, the cover held its own and didn’t shine up compared to other solids I have thrown. For me, this ball is a tournament only ball because of its’ strength.

The Wicked Gremlin gives me a strong, aggressive shape while still being predictable enough to trust shot after shot. It picks up nicely in the midlane and continues hard through the pins without feeling too quick or uncontrollable off the spot. I really like it when I need something that can handle some oil but still give me enough recovery downlane. It’s a great option when I need a stronger reaction that I can move inside with and trust to make the corner.

Speed: 16.5. I drilled this piece with the Pin up between the fingers, CG kicked out 1” from the palm, and ½” above the Mass Bias. 5 x 4 x 2 ½. I threw this piece on a Fresh house pattern. Out of Box ball motion was that it started in the mids with a strong backend motion. This piece needs oil. 1st few shots I wasn’t far enough left for it to stay right side of the pocket. I compared this to the Gremlin and the Gremlin Tour-X. Gremlin is cleaner through the fronts with a strong backend. Gremlin Tour-X goes a few feet further down lane with a controllable backend. Layouts: 3 ½ x 4 x 1 ½ AND 6 x 5 x 3 The Gremlin series just got WICKED! The all new Roto Grip WICKED Gremlin is the solid coverstock version of the viral sensation and pin crushing Gremlin that was released some time ago. The WICKED uses the same Rondure MAXD core as the OG Fremlin, but adds the all-new G-R1 solid coverstock. The “G-R” stands for Grip Response, it is designed to provide that tackiness on the lanes without using any NANO particles to the chemistry of the coverstock mixture. As Storm Products does, they followed up an original ball with new versions with a change to the cover and/or core. For the Gremlin line, the original Gremlin was released about a year ago and had V-R1 pearl reactive coverstock and the Rondure Maxd Core. Then, the Gremlin Tour-X came out in March 2026 with a modified core- Rondure Tour-X that lowered the RG and dif. On the Gremlin Tour-X they also made the cover V-R1 hybrid. That cover/core combination makes it much more for a control piece. The latest in the Gremlin line just released is the Wicked Gremlin and is intended to be the strongest of the 3. It has the same Rondure Maxd Core as the original Gremlin which means the RG is 2.50 in the 15# and the dif is back to the much higher 0.058. The PSA or intermediate dif is 0.010. It has an all new cover which is G-R1 solid reactive which stands for Grip Response. It’s nano free, but as the name implies it has a unique tacky adhesion which reads the mid-lane and is designed for medium to heavy oil volumes. That strength in the cover makes the hook length fairly early and the ball shape very smooth, yet it still has a big flare potential. I figured it would be a strong asym in the ballpark with the Ion Max, Equinox Solid, RST Hyperdrive and Alpha Crux. Since I already have those balls, I went with a layout to be different from my norm and to accentuate the smooth nature inherent in the ball. So I went with a 5 ½ x 3 ⅜ x 4 ½. That longer pin to PAP pin down near my middle finger and a fully leveraged PSA should make it smooth to match up on the fresh. The Wicked Gremlin cover definitely digs into the lane off my hand, so it’s not going to have much free push. Then, depending on the layout, it can be rounded and continuous, but will probably not be quick and angular. I’d slot the Wicked Gremlin in below the Ion Max, above the Alpha Crux but similar in shape to those. I think its hook potential is similar to the Equinox Solid, but it’s probably a little earlier and smoother.
