Roto Grip Gremlin Tour X Bowling Ball
The legend grows, but the footprint gets more precise. Roto Grip is proud to introduce the Gremlin TOUR-X, a ball designed specifically for those who demand "professional-grade motion" without the unpredictability.
When the lanes get tough and the original Gremlin is a bit too "wild," the TOUR-X steps in to provide the control, predictability, and punch you need to stay at the top of the leaderboard.
Engineering the "Tour" Motion
We didn't just tweak the original; we re-engineered the DNA of the Gremlin series to favor control and versatility.
- The Rondure™ TOUR-X Core: By meticulously adjusting the densities of the original Rondure™ MaxD Core, we’ve lowered both the RG and the Differential. This creates a more stable, centered energy displacement that prevents the ball from overreacting at the breakpoint.
- V-R1™ Hybrid Coverstock: This proven hybrid shell offers the perfect "middle ground" traction. It provides enough teeth to handle oil while maintaining the cleanliness needed to clear the front of the lane.
- 4000-Abralon® Finish: Sanded to a smooth 4000-grit, the TOUR-X offers a matte finish that reads the mid-lane early enough to be predictable, but late enough to retain maximum energy for the pocket.
Why the Gremlin TOUR-X?
In the modern game, "more hook" isn't always the answer—better hook is. The Gremlin TOUR-X is built for the competitive bowler who needs a ball that blends the wet and the dry. Expect a medium-flare pattern that keeps your transitions smooth and your carry high.
The Bottom Line: If you loved the shape of the original Gremlin but want a more disciplined, "Tour-ready" version for league nights or tournament blocks, the Gremlin TOUR-X is your new go-to.
- Color: Smoke/Velvet/Ink
- Coverstock: V-R1 Hybrid Reactive

Ball Review Grelim
Latest addition to the Roto Grip family of products is the Gremlin Tour-X. After the success of the Gremlin, the new Tour-X is earlier and stronger than the original. Using the layout of 50x5x30 this really responds down lane. This is a great ball for when the lanes start to transition. Stop into your local Storm VIP shop today.

Great Transition Piece
On my Gremlin Tour-X I went with something a little different as far as layout. I went 5 1/2 x 3 x 3. My intention was to keep the ball clean and stable and continuous so when I encounter super chopped up lanes and transition, I can count on this ball to not overreact off of anything it sees. I will say mission accomplished. If you are looking for that type of motion, consider a similar layout. I can see the similarities to the Ion Pro Hybrid that people are mentioning. Not only the colors, but the shape downlane is very similar as well. It does not get forward and lock up due to the reduced flare potential in the core. As a starter ball, it's a little too clean for my liking. If I'm a little hot on my speed, it'll go through it and end up way behind the headpin. This ball likes a little friction on the lanes to start in the right place and be most effective. Having said that, your results may be different with a stronger layout, mine is on the weak side. Overall a great transition ball for me and something that keeps me out of trouble when they get weird.

LANE CONDITION Type:THS after league play MY COMMENTS The Roto Grip Gremlin Tour X is one of those pieces that really shines when you need to control the lane instead of fight it. This ball fits perfectly into my “benchmark control asym” slot—especially when the lanes start getting tricky. Right out of the box (4000 grit), the Tour X reads the lane earlier than cleaner hybrids, but not overly aggressive. The V-R1 hybrid cover gives you that ideal middle ground reaction, clean enough through the fronts, but with a noticeable midlane read. What stands out immediately is how smooth and controlled the shape is more of a matured Rubicon UC2. It doesn’t jerk off the spot, it just rolls forward and continues. I started around my normal line but notice the ball blended the wet/dry extremely well and controlled the over/under. As the transition hit, it became a go-to ball when stronger pieces started jumping or gave weaker pin deflection. Definitely a game 2–3 when carrydown and friction mix together. Not ideal if you want sharp backend motion and too smooth on very fresh/heavy oil Comparison to the original Gremlin which is more aggressive and angular the Tour X give a more controlled, smoother “benchmark asym” in better terms of shape. It's a tour level IQ Tour Solid but asymmetrical and stronger overall for my style. A perfect transition ball, a reliable league/tournament control piece and a reaction you trust when other balls get too jumpy. If your bag needs a ball that lets you stay lined up longer and control the pocket, this is a great addition. 9/10 – Control monster with more than enough punch Visit a VIP Proshop Today #SquadRG

Tournament must have!
Roto Grip Gremlin Tour X Cover: VR-1 Hybrid Cover Core: Rondure Tour-X Core RG: 2.48 #15 RG: Diff. 0.034 PSA 0.011 #15 Finish: 4000 abralon Fragrance: NA Rt hand Speed 13-14 MPH PAP 3 7/8 1/4 over Drilling: 80 x 4" x 40 VLS The new Gremlin Tour-X, a seemingly calmed down version of the Gremlin with the Rondure Tour-X core, hybrid cover at 4000 abralon is a tougher condition dream for my style. Put a length drill pattern of 80 x 4" x 40 on this for my softer ball speed. This ball for me is a touch more aggressive version of the Tour Dynam-X. Out of box with this hybrid cover it wants to read the lane but give a predictable hard arc backend reaction. I was able to play up the boards on heavier patterns and still see enough motion on the back to carry. Once the lanes transitioned, I surprisingly saw a ball I could move in with deep angles and still see enough pop. Tight flare rings are a perfect scenario for my ball speed. I see a continuous ball motion. Cover lane shines quickly. I have been able to just clean cover and not polish as of yet. This is great benchmark ball for me on shorter patterns or any house with friction. Great tournament ball for anyone's arsenal! Joe Arvai 900 Global Pro Shop Staff Member

Gremlin Tour X
About Me PAP. 4 3/4 right 1 3/8 up Ball speed 17 MPH Rev-rate 450 Layout 50 x 4 x 50 Pattern various patterns The Gremlin Tour X is a silent assassin! The Gremlin shocked me with the amount of energy this ball stores with control is amazing. The lower differential in this ball allows me to attack the transition very well. The ball doesn’t read too early but not too late. I get a very predictable ball motion that sends the pins all over the deck. I recommend this ball to any bowler that bowls competitive tournaments to control transition. The Gremlin Tour X will give you the confidence you need to make shots on difficult oil patterns. Roto Grip Gremlin Tour X (GTX) Ball Review by PJ Haggerty
After loving the first Gremlin that was released by Roto Grip, I was extremely interested in the Tour-X version. The GTX especially caught my eye because of the revisions the team in Utah made to the original Gremlin. The core was adjusted, this coverstock is now hybrid, and the surface was a bit different too. The differential is what caught my eye the most because the GTX has a differential of .034 and the core is still asymmetrical. I’ve drilled one so far, have used it on a variety of different surfaces and patterns, and love it. It’s mapped out as 5 x 4 x 1. This creates a ‘tall’ pin for me, directly above my ring finger, and the CG just on top of my thumb. When I’ve gotten on flatter patterns when scores have been lower, this has been a ball to use to help blend the wet/dry and still go through the pins the right way. I think this is one of the most versatile balls in my bag because the cover is clean enough that it doesn’t burn up, but the differential helps keep it online and not create too quick of a motion. It’s a home run! I believe it’s complimented my Viking, Vengeance, and Hustle X-Ray extremely well. If you need a ball fit in-between options like those listed above, go drill a GTX!

Gremlin Tour X Review
This is what I was expecting the original Gremlin to be. I’ve always been a fan of the Rondure core and was excited to see what this one could do. On house, I’m getting old-school skid/flip. I’ve had a lot of success being able to play left to right with this one. If the puddle in the middle isn’t too pronounced, I can migrate left with the transition and it will stay angular and continuous. I have not altered the surface as of yet, it’s just been getting games with lane shine. I’ve only found success on sport on one occasion, fresh out of box, I was able to play way right on one of the PBA Regional Test patterns. The lanes had transitioned and the Gremlin Tour X was a hail mary to find some success on a bad pair and I was able to bail the game with the back 6, which saved my block. The Gremlin Tour X is going to be in my bag for a long time to come.

Roto Grip Gremlin Tour X review by Chris Pollentier
Roto Grip Gremlin Tour X Coverstock: V-R1 Hybrid Reactive Finish: 4000-grit Abralon Core: Rondure TOUR-X Core RG: 2.48, Diff: 0.034, PSA: 0.011 (15lbs) VLS Layout: 4 1/2 x 4 x 2 1/4 Dual Angle Layout: 45 x 4 1/2 x 35 PAP: 5 3/16” right x 5/8” up Rev rate: 400 rpm Average speed: 16.5 mph Location: Prairie Lanes, Sun Prairie WI Pattern: Medium volume THS The new Roto Grip Gremlin Tour X (aka, the “GTX”) is an impressive addition to the Roto Grip lineup, designed with a very different intent compared to the original Gremlin. The core in the GTX has been redesigned with a lower RG and Differential making it a much more controllable and medium-flaring asymmetric. Combined with the V-R1 Hybrid Reactive coverstock that’s 2 parts solid and 1 part pearl, the GTX was built to deliver a predictable and continuous motion throughout the entire lane. For those that we’re a fan of Storm’s Ion Pro and may be looking for a replacement, the GTX is it. Just like the original Ion Pro, the Gremlin Tour X is perfect on medium to medium-light oil volume and has offered a solid balance between control and power. For me, the Tour X fits right in between the Rockstar and balls like the Ultimate Wrecker or Hustles. The Tour X has a very predictable motion from front to back, making it an ideal ball given the number of centers with older lane surfaces in my area – it’s clean enough to handle the extra friction while still being able to provide good down-lane continuation. For anyone looking for a Storm Ion Pro replacement, the Gremlin Tour X is as close as you’ll get. The Tour X is a balanced, medium-flaring piece that does a good job blending the wet/dry and provides a smooth transition on tournament patterns. From everything I’ve seen, the Gremlin Tour X fits the bill as a more disciplined, “tour-ready” ball. Chris Pollentier Storm Products Pro Shop Staff

THe Roto Grip Gremlin Tour-X is a Tournament Cheat Code!
Instant results - I've already won a sport bowling tournament with this ball! A great tool in the arsenal for when you need the predictability of a smooth ball motion on medium to long patterns, but don't want to sacrifice any backend movement. This ball combines them both perfectly. I put mine at 1000 grit and it hooks in the right spot for my higher ball speed. This ball will definitely be in my bag for the USBC Open Championships! I'm guessing it will be amazing on the longer Singles and Doubles pattern on Day 2. My league go to!
I know you see a lot of reviews that say balls are great, however this one really is. If you are looking for a predictable strong motion without the ball being super early, this is your ball. The Gremlin Tour X has my go to in league. I managed to shoot 846 the 2nd week I threw it. I find it is smooth and controllable, but doesn’t loose axis rotation as some of the other “bigger core” balls do. I see higher carry % vs. those bigger balls. As the pattern breaks down, I am able to move left and increase my rotation and still get a predictable ball motion. This is one of those balls where I will have multiples of.

The Gremlin Tour-X combines the smooth-rolling Rondure Tour-X Core with the lane-blending traction of the V-R1 hybrid coverstock, making it an excellent choice for any straighter THS bowler aiming for a great night of scoring! So, let’s take a close look at the Gremlin Tour-X. The Rondure Tour-X Core is the latest, finely tuned version of the original Rondure Core found in the Rubicon line. Similar to its predecessor, the Rondure Tour-X Core offers a smooth, stable motion that straight players like me appreciate. What I especially liked about the Rondure Tour-X Core is how steady the Gremlin Tour-X stayed when coming off the pattern. When I missed right, the Rondure Tour-X responded with an energetic roll that helped it find the pocket. When I pulled the Gremlin Tour-X inside, I enjoyed seeing how the Rounder Tour-X Core still maintained its consistent, predictable motion off the pattern. So, if you are a straighter THS player, the Rondure Tour-X Core will suit your game quite well! Roto Grip definitely “crushed it” by adding the proven V-R1 Hybrid Coverstock to the Gremlin Tour-X. The V-R1 offers the perfect balance of solid and pearl, delivering excellent results during a full night of THS league bowling. What I appreciate about the V-R1 is its smooth yet biting traction. I found it to be very clean in the front part of the lane all night, and from fresh to burn, I loved how the V-R1 provided just the right amount of traction without being overpowering like a solid or too erratic like a pearl. The most impressive aspect of the V-R1 was its ability to handle the transition between wet/dry conditions while maintaining the same consistent, smooth traction, as I noticed on the fresh! Lastly, it was exciting for me, as a low-rev player, to be able to move inside and play between the third and center arrows with the factory 4000-grit Abralon finish, while still generating enough energy to strike the pocket. So, if you’re a straighter player on a THS, the V-R1 coverstock will make the Gremlin Tour-X a fantastic choice. In conclusion, Roto Grip has done an excellent job with the Gremlin Tour-X. The accuracy of the Rondure Tour-X Core and the smooth blending traction of the V-R1 Hybrid Coverstock make the Gremlin Tour-X a great choice for any straighter, low-rev bowler seeking a fun and exciting night of THS league bowling! The Gremlin Tour-X is stable, smooth, and predictable all in one, ensuring you get the enjoyment and excitement you want in your scoring game! Best Control Ball Ever
This is the best control ball on the market! When the lanes get ugly I can always rely on this one to control the pocket and give me a very consistent ball motion. For me, this replaces the original ion pro. The Roto Grip Gremlin Tour-X is a controlled asymmetric hybrid that’s built to be more of a “benchmark” piece rather than something super aggressive or flashy. It reads the lane earlier than cleaner pearls, thanks to the 4000-grit finish, but it doesn’t overhook—instead it gives you a really smooth, predictable motion through the midlane with a strong, continuous backend. The biggest thing with this ball is how well it blends wet and dry, meaning it helps eliminate over/under and keeps you in play when lanes get tricky or start transitioning. Compared to something like the Ion Max Pearl, it’s way less jumpy and more controlled, so you’re trading some angle for consistency and accuracy. Overall, it’s a great option for league or tournaments when you need something reliable that you can trust to read the lane and not do anything crazy, especially on medium to medium-heavy oil.

Best Control Ball Out There!
This is the best control ball on the market! When the lanes get ugly I can always rely on this one to control the pocket and give me a very consistent ball motion. For me, this replaces the original ion pro. The Storm Ion Max Pearl is a strong asymmetric pearl bowling ball that’s built for medium to heavy oil but really shines once the lanes start to transition. It has a clean look through the front part of the lane, meaning it doesn’t burn up too early, but once it hits the friction it makes a sharp and continuous move on the backend. Compared to solid pieces, it’s noticeably quicker off the spot and gives you more angle into the pocket, which is great if you like opening up the lane. The carry is also a big plus because of how hard it drives through the pins, especially on messengers and light hits. Overall, it’s a great option when your stronger solids are starting to hook too early and you need something that gets down lane easier but still finishes hard.

Gremlin Tour-X
Gremlin Tour-X is Roto Grip's newest lower-diff asym. This type of ball is becoming more and more vital in a post-weight-hole world, and Gremlin Tour-X provides a unique and complimentary shape to the like of Ion Pro and Ion Pro Solid. The Ion Pro core lacks a flip block, and this makes the motion really smooth and predictable. The mild asymmetry helps the Ion Pro make the corner. Gremlin Tour-X is familiar to its predecessor, the Gremlin. Although the differential has been lowered, Gremlin Tour-X corners much harder than either Ion Pro. The cover formula on the Ion Pro is also stronger and can get a little early/flat as the lanes transition. Gremlin Tour-X stores more energy and is more angular off the spot but still maintains a relatively even "Tour" motion that is more usable as the lanes begin to hook. If you like the Ion Pro Solid but have trouble getting it to clear the front/corner, Gremlin Tour-X is a perfect fit! -Chase Valenzuela

Gremlin Tour X Review by Kyle, Joel, & Dean Johnson
Roto Grip Gremlin Tour X Coverstock: V-R1™ Hybrid Reactive 4000 grit Core: Rondure™ Tour-X (Asymmetrical) Color: Smoke/Velvet/Ink Review: Don’t let the craze and hype of the bionic turn you away from the Gremlin line. Despite not seeing a lot of use early in the PBA season, The original Gremlin and now this Gremlin Tour X are very complimnetary pieces. The Gremlin Tour X we feel like is more versatile for its predictability, control of the pocket, and smooth shape. If you were a fan of the Ion Pro, this ball is basically a direct replacement. One notiveable difference from the Ion Pro is this Gremlin Tour X seems to respond and take surfaces changes better. It looks great with many different grits and even with some polish. Overall this ball is one that can look good on the fresh for medium patterns, great for that 2nd ball out of bag on heavier conditions when you start to lose control of the pocket, and even better if you are looking for a “ball down” from a bigger ball like a hyperdrive solid, ion max solid, or equinox solid. Gremlin Tour-X
The Roto Grip Gremlin Tour-X is a controlled asymmetric hybrid that fits right into that benchmark/transition slot, but with a much smoother and more predictable shape than most asyms. It features the Rondure Tour-X core with a lower diff, wrapped in the V-R1 Hybrid cover at 4000 grit, giving it a very balanced, controllable motion. I drilled mine 4 1/2 x 4 x 2, similar to how I drill up most of the tour line balls. The Tour-X feels like a cleaner, more continuous version of the Ion Pro — still very controlled, but just a little more refined. It’s not a ball you’re using to open the lane up — it’s more of a “stay out of trouble” piece that you can trust when things get tricky. Out of the box, it hooked substantially more than I expected - I’m really hoping that tames down a bit over the next several games. Layout: 4 1/2 x 4 x 2 My Specs - Speed - 16 mph, Rev Rate - 280. Gremlin Tour-X
I Drilled the new gremlin tour with a 4.75x4.5.4 layout, giving me a pin down layout. I know it sounds odd to drill a low flaring ball pin down, but for the more rev dominant players it works! This ball reminds me of a slightly cleaner version of the Ion Pro. The Weaker hybrid cover with a med-low diff core works wonders on any pattern or surface. This is the ball that fits in the benchmark area of my bag for tournaments. I definitely see this one going to every tournament!

Gremlin Tour-X
The Gremlin Tour-X is the newest addition to the Roto Grip line. This new ball is featured with the all-new Rondure Tour-X core, along with the VR-1 Hybrid Reactive Cover Stock. It is padded at 4000 grit out of the box and has a medium flare potential. The previous “tour” ball Roto Grip featured was the Tour Dynamix, which was very popular on the PBA Tour, as well as most tournaments I competed in. The Gremlin Tour-X provides more control, a blended hook and backend motion balanced by the solid and pearl cover stocks. As a big fan of “tour” balls, especially throwing the IQ Tour and Dynamix, I was very looking forward to throwing the Gremlin Tour-X. Ball layout: 75 x 4 ¾ x 40. I have tested it a few times on a 42ft league pattern, as well as on 42ft PBA Scorpion recently. The Tour-X works so well at the start on the fresh. It blends out both patterns easily, as I could play a little straighter before opening my angles. With its weak core, the mid lane traction doesn’t tend to jump very quickly as it has a smooth blended shape in the backend. Once the friction started to show, I could move right a couple boards with my feet, and the ball still responds smoothly into the pocket. Surface adjustments can be used, depending on what patterns you are bowling on. The Gremlin Tour-X tends to be a little stronger than the Dynamix. I find the Gremlin Tour-X to fit all varieties of bowling styles, and it is a great addition to have in your bag. Head on out to your local Storm Vip Pro Shop and drill up a Gremlin Tour-X today, you won’t be disappointed!!

Gremlin Tour-X
The Gremlin Tour-X is part of the Storm Tournament Collection and fits right square in the middle of the arsenal. As the name indicates, it’s part of the Gremlin series, but is a “tour” version so it emphasizes control instead of crazy ball motion. It essentially is intended to provide “professional-grade motion.” The original Gremlin is a great ball that has been a little overlooked by me and many pros I think because it was released at the end of the year when most of the PBA season was over. In the current environment when many bowlers are infatuated with big back end motion or dramatic ball motion, I was really excited for the Gremlin Tour-X because I was hoping it could be a controllable ball that can be used on a variety of patterns. The coverstock is the versatile reactive V-R1 featured on the Gremlin, but on the Tour-X, it’s hybrid rather than pearl and comes factory sanded at 4000 grit. This makes it smooth rather than skiddy and quick response. The core is the Rondure Tour-X which takes the Gremlin Rondure Maxd and tweaks the densities to lower the RG to 2.48 (in the 15#, compared to 2.50 in the original Gremlin). That lower RG combined with the hybrid ensures it won’t skid too far. The differential and the intermediate dif are both low at 0.034 and 0.011, respectively, which is what you would expect for a tour, control piece. That means it’s more about the operator than the equipment making the ball motion. Still, the little bit of asymmetry does help it read the mid lane. I heard many compare it to the Ion Pro Tour (it even looks like it). But to me, the Ion Pro Tour was a little quick and got forward on me while Gremlin Tour-X has a more rounded and continuous shape. I drilled the Gremlin Tour-X 4.5” pin to PAP x 4” pin to PSA x 2” pin to VAL. I took the Gremlin Tour-X to USBC Open Championships and it was exactly what it was supposed to be. In Team event, we broke them down in the track so by the middle of game 2, I put the Gremlin Tour-X in my hand and hit 18 at the arrows and wanted the ball to get just right of the range finder down lane (essentially 9). I proceeded to hit the pocket 19 out of the last 20 shots, threw the back 7 for 240 game 2 and 236 game 3. Everyone should have a Gremlin Tour-X in their bag as the perfect control, versatile middle of the bag ball.

Gremlin Tour X – Smooth Control When You Need It Most
The Roto Grip Gremlin Tour X Bowling Ball is exactly what you want when you need control on tougher patterns. This ball is designed to be smooth and predictable, and that’s exactly what I’ve seen from it on the lanes. I drilled mine 4 ¾ × 4 × 4, and the reaction is exactly what I was hoping for. The ball gets into a nice roll, reads the midlane well, and most importantly doesn’t jump off the spot. Instead of that sharp “hockey stick” move downlane, it makes a smooth, controlled move and keeps going through the pins. The motion is very continuous and easy to trust. I actually drilled this ball specifically with Nationals in mind, because I sometimes struggle when balls get too quick off the end of the pattern on sport conditions. The Gremlin Tour X does the opposite—it blends the lane and keeps the reaction predictable, which makes it much easier to stay lined up as conditions change. If you’re looking for a ball that takes the over/under out of play and gives you a smooth, reliable motion, the Gremlin Tour X definitely does what it was designed to do. It’s the kind of piece that really shines when the patterns get tougher and you need control more than anything else.

Gremlin Tour-X
The new Roto Grip Gremlin Tour-X features the V-R1 hybrid coverstock finished at 4000 grit abralon, and the Rondure Tour-X core. At 15 pounds, this ball has a low RG of 2.48 with a differential of .034 and an intermediate differential of .011. I drilled this ball at 5x5x2 putting the pin above my bridge. This ball is very different than the original Gremlin, so don’t let the nameplate fool you. Many people compare this ball to the original Stom Ion Pro, but for me the Gremlin Tour-X is a stronger overall ball and has a more angular backend motion. The new Gremlin Tour-X will provide the bowler with high usability on many lane conditions, making this a must purchase for any league bowler who bowls in a high friction center, as well as any tournament bowlers who need a ball they can rely on to provide a consistent reaction when the scoring pace is on the lower side.
