Visionary Slate Blue Gargoyle Bowling Ball

(11 reviews) Write a Review
When the lanes are too dry for reactive bowling balls, the Slate Blue Gargoyle feels right at home. Designed with fried lanes in mind, this hard urethane will get past those burnt heads and make a smooth, but powerful arc to the pocket. The Slate Blue Gargoyle uses the highly successful Gargoyle core design, and wraps it with a pearlized urethane coverstock.

I had the pin placed over the ring finger to give the ball a little backend. What I got was a little more backend than I thought I was. After I got use to the reaction of the ball it has become my ball of choice for the 3 game. It is a great ball for spare shooting. If you try to swing this ball on medium to medium light oil it might not recover out of the skid in time, but if you are playing down the boards it is a great ball. I have played this ball down the 2 board as well as the 10 with great success. I have taken quite a ribbing from people when they see me pull out this ball but after a few shots in the pocket they quiet down. It is a must have for any late shift bowler.

I kept the ball at factory finish and had it drilled at 12 o'clock . The best thing about it is the way it can get though the dry and still have a lot of hook in the back end. I can move in with it when the oil machine has run out of oil and not worry about it running out the door or having trouble hitting the pocket. I would also recommend this ball for shooting at 10 pins if you need something for that. Keep this ball away from anything synthetic as the carry down will really prevent this ball from making its turn.

Upon the recommendation of my pro, I purchases this slate gargoyal. I was looking for a ball to conquer an extreme wet / dry oil pattern. I love to play the outside shot, (up the 5th board). When I had first got this ball, I was bowling on an old wood lane house. I had success with this ball in the first two games or so. When those lanes would become too dry, I actually couldn't use this ball, but in defense to this ball, I couldn't even use my plastic ball either. Since the house shifted to synthetics, there are days when I cannot use a resin ball to play the outside shot. The Gargoyal is perfect for such days. This past Wednesday, I decided to roll the Gargoyal and rolled a 299 in the first game (high flush - 4 pin). The second game I should've rolled a 279, but a few 7 and 10 pins entered the picture. I would definitely recommend this ball for anyone who wants to play straight up the outside on a standard house shot. Sometimes, the lanes get too dry for the ball, but I th

14lb 9oz 4" pin 2.5 top weight Ball was drilled 5 3/4" from pap over ring finger with CG 2" right of grip center with weighthole. Ball was factory finished with control it applied. I got this ball hoping to replace my black hammer(faball), because I thump over the thumb on my hammer. The blue gargoyle is just a monster, I mean it doesn't snap like reactive; but it turns hard to the pocket. For dry lanes this just isn't the ball. Mine was as strong as my Lane1 XXL but doesn't hit as well. Better choices for dry lanes are: Lane1 plastic XXXL Brunswick power groove dry/r(with control it applied).

I am glad to see a manufacture still produce a urethane ball. Everybody is looking for thier stuff to hook more than the last one they bought. Straighter is better, and this ball allows you to go straight up the boards without that over/under reaction. If you buy this one, don't look for the big time hook unless you are on short/ no oil. I have mine drilled with the pin under my ring finger and the MB stacked without a weight hole. If they are not dry, use this one for a spare ball. Balls like this one is why I chose to throw Visionary equipment. They are thinking of the bowlers instead of the profits. Thanks again, visionary. I drilled this ball straight up and waited for a sunday morning fried shot. I played right up the 2nd arrow and the ball cleared the heads like silk and had a smooth arc to the pocket. It hits like a truck and carries well. I have a 190 average and shot a 214/182/259 for a 655 series right off the press. As I bowled, a few sunday morning scratch players started to watch my games. It felt great to put up a 259 with a little crowd gathered, and a few took notes on this ball. I guess my pro will owe me a few beers, because he'll probably sell 20 of these in the next month. I would like to thank the people at Visionary for making a urethane ball with a modern weight block. I now feel that I can bowl on any dry or fried condition and still maintain power and carry.

The Slate Blue Gargoyle is a fantastic ball. It is the first ball I pull from my bag and quite often the only ball I use! I'm playing on a 38 foot Christmas Tree Pattern with dry backends. This ball allows me to play straight up the 2nd arrow without worrying about any type of overreaction. The ball carrys both light and high hits with ease. This is not a ball you can swing out and expect to come back, but it was not designed for that type of game. If you bowl on a fresh league shot, and prefer a straighter line to the pocket, then this may be the only ball you ever need. This is my first venture into Visionary Products and I am extremely pleased. Now I need to decide which Visionary Ball I want to try next! (Green Gargoyle or Centaur) If your looking for a great ball that will let you play an easy line to the pocket, then get yourself a Slate Blue Gargoyle

I drilled this thing 4x3 with a hole on my PAP This thing is a dream for me. I am a high rev player who likes to go up the boards. I'm left handed, so I'm only allowed inside the second arrow if I have a pasport. In situations where I have to throw everything else over the right ditch, this thing is still playable on a comfortable line. It does not open up the shot like a reactive, but it will allow you to play easy lines on tough shots and that is priceless. The ball comes at such a high gloss out of the box that it almost feels slimy. I don't know if there is a shot dry enough for this thing to burn out, but if there is, I don't want to see it.

This ball made me enoguht money I can't complanine. It gludes threw the head on dry not great when lanes fried. Fried my blue hammer handles better. Got this drill Long and arc pin between fingers. Above cg center 1:30 drilling I think. The ball hit as hard as my Blue Gryphon. I mainly use these ball in turnys. League is no problem also. Check visionary out if you have not try one. this ball fit perfect between the Blue hammer O'l and Blue Gryhon. Next I will try out the AZO I got for amazing price.

I drilled this ball with a 5 by 3 layout with a weight hole to combat a brutal house shot in San Antonio. The center installed new Syn. lanes and has no idea how to run a THS. I thought the only playable part of the lane was the gutter ( I am a righty ), so I contacted Visionary and ordered this ball to play this part of the lane and this ball with the factory finish. With all of this, I recently practiced at this center and found a very good look and some to play with for the second half of the season. Thank you Visionary for the chance to throw your equipment.

This is a 14 pound ball with a 3 inch pin and about 3 ounces of starting topweight. The cg is on the gripline and the pin is half an inch right and one inch higher than my ring finger. I hook the ball a lot without a lot of control. Dry lanes give me fits because I have to stand really far left and heave right.. Pocket % and carry really suffer. This ball allows me to move back into a more normal line. It sails through the heads and begins to arc in the midlane. There is no snap to this balls motion. Pocket % is very high as the ball gave me miss room both left and right. Speed control is important because the ball will skid past the break point if your speed is too high. Carry was good, but the ball deflects more than a resin would. This makes high flush carry better than light. Overall this is a great ball for its intended condition. It isn't a good option if resin or particle are working as the carry % isn't as good as the best resin, but it will be a tremendous help when resin and
