Visionary Green Gargoyle Bowling Ball

(20 reviews) Write a Review
The green pearl GARGOYLE from Visionary Bowling Products uses a reactive coverstock developed by our own chemist. This ball provides more snap on the back end than any other Visionary ball previously released. The combination of shell and core used in the Gargoyle provide good length (similar to the Orange Warlock) but with better control in the oil (less skate) than most typical reactives. The center of this Gargoyle core is the same high performance core design used in the Scorcher-NPT. Then a spherical wrap is placed around the center core and the whole composite is encased with our newest reactive coverstock. This ball offers all the performance of the top end balls but at a lower cost.

On a lighter condition this ball is awesome. It carried light hits, flush pockets and even tripped out the 4 pin on those shots that creep high. Find the dry and let it fly, this ball will do the rest. I haven't tried this on anything with oil yet, but based on the length I got it probably won't work. Synthetics are still a question also, will test further and report back then. I can't wait to try this at the Shammy, the condition was so dry that it was throw the Mika loft and pray. This ball should be a good match for that shot.

The little green is same as expected.Goes long with continuosly hook in the back.Mostly I used this ball for test shots in order to find out what is going on about the lane patterns. If it is dry head, you should bring this green one. I played several path on dry lanes, the green gargoyal can moves well between first arrow to second arrow. But don't try to throw more inside angle because the backend is not able to recover as you wish. But staying on the outside boards,no other ball can beat this one at light and short pattern. Another nice part is this ball is easier to maintain.Since the pearlized coverstock is already selected for short oil patterns. But the hardness of green gargoyal made itself easy to clean up(a bit harder than other reactive material). The general summary is you should have one to handle those really dry lanes~

This ball allows me to play down the lane whenever necessary. This ball is drilled 4x3. It goes a long way down the lane about 45 foot on a typical house shot pattern and still has the energy to get back to the pocket and snap the ten pin out. The only thing bad about this ball is that if you tug it in the oil it does nothing at all and loses alot of its hitting power. Visionary products could possibly be on the verge of revolutionizing bowling as we know it. Everything they make hits like a mac truck. Give it a try.

I've now had the ball two weeks as a part of their test staff program. The pin is out 2 inches from CG 45 degrees from the right finger hole. I throw more of a smooth stroking shot. This ball reacted like a dream. I've played it on the sunday morning shot and on a fresh laid pattern. Very, very consistent.. The thing I like most about this ball is how it keeps the pins low to the deck and creates some interesting action. Granted, this is only two weeks, however, I was an Ebonite faithful for 10 years and one thing that I seemed to encounter time and again was how the ball would drive too hard, leaving a solid eight. I've not left one of these yet (knock on wood). Within one week of recieving this pearl I rolled a 279 - 739. I certainly hope that VIsionary decides to become PBA registered so I can take these to regionals next year. I'll be a little disappointed if I have to retool my arsenal just to compete.

As a loyal Hammerhead, this was my first venture away from the Hammer camp. Picked this one up used from a Visionary Test Staff Member who couldn't use it in regional events due to Visionary not paying the PBA their fees. His loss was definitely my gain! Ball is drilled with pin below bridge and cg swung out with small wt. hole. Box finish at 1500 grit wasn't enough surface at our local house, so took it "down" to 1000. Ball is perfect at this surface. I've used it on everything from dry to freshly oiled. Ball clears the heads with ease and saves all it's punch for the backend. Hit is tremendous and carry exceptional for a ball in this price range! Ball came out in 2000 and Visionary is still making it, so that must tell you something about it. If it ain't broke... Highly recommended to anyone looking for a strong, inexpensive reactive Pearl to add to their arsenal. Give Visionary a try. You won't regret it. Spike

Drilled: 4 1/2 x 5 This is a great medium oil ball. Since the release of the violet, though, this ball has little use for me. I have two violets and the green just seems to get lost in the fray. The Green gets clean through the heads with ease. In fact, I've never seen it burn up. This is where it can dominate the solid reactive violet, which is much more susceptible to burining out. It reads a breakpoint very crisply and drives toward the headpin. This is not an uncontrollable backend, though. If you are searching for a medium oil, pearl reactive, this may be your ball

This ball is a Diamond in the Ruff. I bought this ball used for $40.00, this is the best money I have spent for a used ball. After my experience with the Granite Gargoyle, I was hesitant about buying the Green Gargoyle. The backend on this ball is unbelievable. The ball is drilled 3 3/8 stacked 1:30 a strong arcing backend. The ball is very forgiving on light hits and high hits. Hits just as hard as my Lane #1 balls. I would recommend this ball to anyone. The color is great on the ball and the coverstock is manageable if cleaned properly.<scrip

I have been bowling for about 10 years, and I have seen the change in the equipment and Tech. that this industry has gone through. This ball still to this day, suprizes me. With the way this ball reacts on different conditions. This has to be the most versatile ball I have thrown. On a house shot with light / medium oil, I can play straight up 10 or play 20 to the ditch, it does not matter the ball reacts great. I used it at Nationals in Knoxvilles last year, shot 1800 all events. The ball keeps the pins so low to the pin deck that pin carry is going to happen. All I can say to Visionary is I love this ball and keep them coming.

First, I would say this ball matched the numbers on the ball. And secondly this ball works well on burned heads and tight backend. I cannot belive the backend in this ball. I drilled this ball with a Rev. Leverage pattern in this ball to compliment my Burgundy Particle Gryphon. Visionary is on the right path even if this is one of their older balls in their lineup it works well on tougher, broken down house patterns. GOOD JOB VISIONARY ! Update - Still rocking and rolling with this ball. I took the surface to 1000 with polish to compare it with my Blue Sparkle and they both contain great backend reaction with the Green starting up a little sooner due to layout.

My Green is 16lbs, 3-4" pin out, and drilled pin over ring finger, slightly to the right...stacked over the CG with the MB in the STRONG position. I needed a go long and turn strong ball and I got it with the Green. So far I've used it on synthetic walled up patterns, and wood flatter patterns, and as long as I can find some definite dry this ball will work wonders. On the wall it worked well outside the second arrow, and the flatter pattern it worked well from inside the third arrow. The Green hits like other typical Visionary products do, and carries just as well. This is a terrific light oil piece that has major backend, complimented with the Blue Gryphon and Granite Gargoyle and you have a very effective three ball combo.

I traded for this ball used and it has quickly become one of my all time favorites. It's hard to believe this is a mid priced bowling ball. Mine's drilled with the pin and cg stacked 4 1/2 inches from the PAP. (Positive Label Shift drill.) You get a nice strong backend, but by drilling just a little further from the PAP the ball saves more energy. On a fresh wet/dry shot the backend reaction is downright vicious but still just tame enough to control. Hit and carry are the best of anything I've ever thrown when you are using it on the proper condition. If it's not crushing pins bag it and wait for the track to dry out a little. This ball does not like carrydown but, this is to be expected on a ball designed to score on medium to dry lanes. Length is well above average.

This is a ball that could fit in just about anyones arsenal. It works well when the heads are toasted because its a pearlized reactive. It has good length and really bites when it gets to the backends. The green gargoyle can be used for anything between a med dry to a med heavy. I have a 4x4 layout and man does this ball hit. As some of you know Visionary was started by the same guy that started hammer and he definitaly can make a name for himself. A very impressive ball. I'm not too sure about the rest of the Visionary line but i will try the crimson executioner, charcoal executioner, and maybe others.

The Green Pearl Gargoyle is a strong performer on medium conditions. The cleaner the backends, the harder it will charge back to the pocket. Length through the heads is great. It will hook early if it finds dry too quickly. The Gargoyle will lose its reaction once the oil travels too far down the lane. Visionary equipment carries extremely well, with the Gargoyle ranking up at the top. The ball is very responsive to hand positions and works well from all angles. It performs consistently on both wood and synthetic lanes. Overall, this ball is a must for any arsenal.

Looking for a good pearl skid/flip but want to save a few bucks? If so, this ones for you. I drilled it with the pin beside my ring finger with the cg directly below. For me this is full leverage. This ball will clear the heads as well as any ball I have seen but it makes a pronounced "snap" off the breakpoint and really kicks the pins around hard! I played a variety of shots and found that it really hooks hard when it hits the dry, so I wouldn't reccommend using it on a wet/dry unless you are going to hit the breakpoint far enough down the lane. Carry seems to be really good, at least as good as the eraser it is going to replace for now.

When there is medium to dry conditions this ball rocks the house. Drilled pin over middle finger cg center grip. Ball goes long and turn toward the pocket with a vengeance. Carry's very well except an occasional 9 pin. Can be used to pick your corner pins just as well. If you need a ball for a medium or dry condition give this ball a serious look. For the price you get a ton of ball. Medium shots play up the outside when they dry out a bit you can swing it and still bring it. Great job visionary Test Staff Member Pete M.

Drilling will have definate impact on your results. Light-Med oil will have you smiling all night long. The impact created by this ball is nothing less than devistating. I have never found a ball that hits like this one. It will slide through heavy oil but if you play the inside line, it will ride the line and provide enough energy to carry even in these conditions. The over-under issue exists but this ball will reward you more on these hits more than hurt you. Dry conditions can get frustrating if you continue to fight the line but a few adjustments will keep you in the game. You can't go wrong with this one!

This is another great ball I like to use. It has a nice snap back into the pocket. Travels down a little longer than the Execusioner series. Has sweet pin action. Can't really use it on wet lane conditions though. It doesn't snap back as well on these conditions. It also doesn't recover quite as well as the Execusioner. I like using this ball as well as the other Visionary balls I have. Another nice product from Visionary. Also it is really easy to drill. Not much to it. Will be testing more Visionary products in the near future.

Everybody asks me what a Gargoyle is and who makes it. I am trying to push this ball, man I love it. I have a 4x4 layout and really want to get another one to put a tamer layout on it. For a lesser known company, this is one of the best balls that I have ever thrown since the Lane #1 Green Buzzsaw. Maybe it's the colors?!?! I throw this ball on synthetic lanes dressed with defense. The lanes are stripped on a daily basiswith a very tough house shot. If there is too much carrydown, the speed has to be changed so the flip point can be changed. Otherwise, a great ball. When are you going to shoot one?

OK, here is the first of a few posts of Visionary equipment I will have. I had never thrown anything from this company before, and took advantage of their test staff program. All I have to say is what took me so long. The Green Pearl Gargoyle is an outstanding bowling ball that everyone should have in their bag. I have only thrown this ball for 3 games now, but it handled a lane condition with fried heads better than any ball I had in my bag. It also gave me a ball reaction on this condition that I have been looking for, for a long time. It got down the lane great with a nice hard arc, and great hit. While a lot of stuff for medium/dry condtions today like to leave a lot of corners this is not the case with this ball. This thing drives threw the pocket like a convoy of mack trucks. On the first night out this Gargoyle put the balls from the big companies to shame. So far I give this one a 9 out of 10. I will keep you posted as I throw it on different conditions in a few different hous

This is basically a Granite Gargoyle, in a nice looking green pearlized cover. I have drilled mine with maximum finger weight, so that when the lanes dry out, it will go long through the heads conserving its' energy before going ballistic on the pins. Within a week of buying my Green Gargoyle, I had 6 people throwing money at me asking me to order them one. I bowled five games with mine the other day on lanes that had not been oiled for over 24hrs and had a reasonably heavy amount of traffic yet I was still able to shoot 153 over finishing with a 269 that with a fraction of luck could have been a 300. I honestly think that Visionary are going to be the next big thing once word gets out about how top notch their balls are. This ball in particular kicks the pins butts, like the aussie swimmers are doing to the US at the Goodwill Games.<scri
