This ball is really good. It will flat out hook on heavy oil lanes. You'll have a hell of a time trying to control this ball on dry lanes, I tried it once just to see how well it would work and I played all the way out to in between the 3 and 1 board and it still overhooked. But, that might be because I have mine drilled strong for heavy oil conditions and another reason why I have a Vibe. Heavy oil conditions is this ball's dream. It shows too, I shot an 814 in a tournament where the next closest person shot a low 700. They had oiled the lanes like 5 minutes before practice had started for it.

Long story made short. Needed a ball for oily lanes. Loved my Doom but not its oily lane reaction, then threw a friend's Pain and fell instantly in love. Words cannot describe the trust I now have in this ball. NO MORE TEN PINS. Short and sweet. I changed my style a bit for this ball (used to swing it, now more direct down 12board) and I'm as consistent as the day is long and this ball OBLITERATES the pins. This thing carries shots that are unimaginable..even with my Doom which I previously thought was the best ball I've ever thrown. I've had the Pain about a month now and have shot 2 280+ games, a 791 series, NUMEROUS 279's, and I'm just getting warmed up. This is the first ball in which I have 98% (at least!) certainty that a pocket shot- be it flush, light, tight, ON THE NOSE!!- will result in a spec-freakin-tacular strike. I'm buying another to keep in safe storage till the day my current one dies. In the meantime, however, I dilligently clean this ball after every outin

I've had this ball for 1 week already. On a fresh THS, it reacted nicely unless you threw a bad shot. I was able to line up fairly quickly and you can hear the difference when this ball hits the pocket. It's like a high pitched cracking sound and the pins hit and stay low. The ball will need oil for it to stay on its intended path. Once it hits the dryer backend, hello Pain, goodbye pins. I can use this ball during carrydown conditions and not need to change balls between games. I got this ball for my wife and I and we are both hitting the pocket consistently.

I was hitting pocket but not carrying alot of strike. The Pain carries the strikes, but you may need some getting used to for spares. I get noticeably alot fewer splits. There seems to be a margin of error, like every lane has an oil block. If you go too wide the dry boards will bring it back 15 boards. This has been true in more than one house, and on different oil conditions. The ball is probably the ugliest one out there. But that isn't why you would buy it. It also soaks up oil like a sponge. So after 50 games or so, soak it in the kitchen sink in hot soapy water and watch the oil come off of it. Then it hooks just like out of the box.

I started out on league play with this ball, and thought it would be the run of the mill hammer bowling ball, think again. This ball turned so hard during practice that I just could'nt believe it and the lanes were just freshly oiled. This ball is an animal, first game was a 195, okay so nobody's perfect, but the second game was a 246. But by the last game I just could'nt control it. It just kept hooking harder. All in all, no disapointment here ! Heck I might just get second one just in case this ball dies out !

My first new purchase upon returning to bowling. This ball has helped me immensely. I have the PAIN/TOXIC/Vibe lineup and my average has gone up over 25 pins over a 3 month span. Ball is best suited for medium fresh - heavy oil. On dry, it can be difficult to control, but it's not made for that. Great pin action. This ball explodes the pins off the lane on pocket shots, mixes the pins on light hits and good Brooklyn (wrong side) shots are almost always strikes. I'm an old Hammer-Head from back in the day and still have my 3D Offset Axis (Pink ball), which I still use in practice. All Hammers that I have ever used hit like a ton of bricks and the Pain is no exception. The main difference is how much better the Raw works on synthetic lanes. It has a much more predictable roll than the 3D and is more forgiving when you miss outside. I would recommend this ball to anyone who wants to throw a consistent arching ball and could use more hook in their game.

After having bowled so well with the Doom, I was very excited when I saw that Hammer had released the Pain. Out of the box it has a matte/sheen finish that straight away says "show me some oil" I have it drilled pretty much straight up and down with no weight hole and yet I still get a nice strong reaction on the back end which is very controllable. I have played this ball on a variety of patterns including a couple of very long, tough shots and it gets to the hole and carries better than anything else in my arsenal. I think it is the perfect compliment to the Doom, and along with the new Toxic Raw Hammer will make a very complete and destructive and arsenal.

This is a great ball for medium to light oil I have one of these and the pain both drilled the same way and I just love them. Best 1-2 combo out there!!! It is just so smooth,I have the pin above my bridge , CG straight down and I love it great roll and pin action! After the roll I was getting on my Doom I knew I had to get one of these. Thank you hammer and keep putting out the great stuff!!!Thank you hammer and keep putting out the great stuff!!!Thank you hammer and keep putting out the great stuff!!!

I apologize in advance for the lack of terminology and length. I want to be sure to add as much info as I can (the little I have), to help make it more understandable. First, a little about my style since if you are diffferent, the ball will react differently for you! I bowled in YABA from 5 to 11 years old, but stopped and haven't bowled more than once every 4 or 5 years since then (25 now). So, I remember the feel of bowling but don't have the mechanics or terminology anymore. I recently joined a league with my brother and have been using a Columbia Beast I got when I was 14, using a modified version of astraight ball with fingering way too short for my hand now. Still I have put up a 155 average, being extremly inconsistant from 110 games to 190's. Two weeks ago I began using the two finger approach ith my brother's Messenger Ti since his grip is too wide for me to use 3 fingers. I have been pretty consistant with that but my low scores came from a lack of consistancy picking up sp

THIS BALL IS A GREAT ADDITION TO MY DOOM. NOW I CAN PLAY THE SAME LINE ON MEDIUM TO HEAVY-OIL CONDITIONS. CAN PLAY INSIDE AND OUTSIDE - IT COMES BACK - YEAH. ANOTHER GREAT JOB BY HAMMER. I LIKE THE COLOUR, THE ENORMOUS BACKEND MOTION AND THE PINACTION THIS BALL MADE. ACCORDING TO THE GOOD PRICE THIS BALL IS THE BEST CHOICE I CAN GET. FIRST BALL OUT OF MY BAG. HOPE THAT HAMMER HAT ANOTHER SURPRISE IN THE RAW LINE. PLEASE DON´T LET ME WAIT TOO LONG FOR THE NEXT RAW HAMMER BOWLING BALL. TO ALL THIS GUYS: "REMEMBER NOTHING HITS LIKE A HAMMER"

i bought this ball for my brother who had never had a new ball out of the box. he had been throwing an old Ebonite Ice and a Zone Classic. Both balls were losing their spark. his birthday came the same time as the introduction of the pain and i thought it woud be a great time to update his arsenal. The first throw was beautiful and he fell in love with the ball. The ball hits the pocket like an atom bomb and leaves no pocket pins. Luckily my birthday is in a month and i have been begging for a black widow.

Drilled the ball stacked with a 4" pin set above the ring finger. When the lane oil was fresh the ball was a truck when it hit the pins. It was very forgiving even when I missed my break as long as I kept the ball in the oil through the front of the lane. Once the lanes began to transition the ball began to grab too early and hook out giving me very weak pin carry in the pocket. The adjustments for this ball were much larger than I would have had to make with other balls in my arsenal to keep the pin carry I would expect for a ball of this quality. Good ball but be prepared to move quick with the lanes and alot.

Drilled stacked leverage, weight hole below mid grip line.3 pin 2.5 tw.I am a high tracker with a PAP of 5 1/4. I got this one to compliment my other Doom's I have, and you can't go wrong with this ball. You will not find a better 1-2 punch than the Doom, and the Pain.I tested this ball on med-heavy house shot, with squeaky clean backends. It performed great, even if you miss at the bottom of the swing a little and pull the ball,it feels like the ball has a laser target for the pocket.Once you throw this ball, you will know what I am talking about,a ball you can truely read and trust,a must have for any Hammerhead.
