Great ball. I don't use it that much anymore, but when I went through and phased almost all of my old Hammers (never...never...ever....get rid of a 3D Hi-Rev Offset!!), this was the mainstay oil ball. Interesting that though it was an oil ball, it had characteristics of a skid flip ball, which I liked and disliked. Normally played a small swing shot though in a heavier oil, would play more down and in. Either way, solid in the early part of the lane and got a good read to carry through to the end. Solid pin action as well. Need to start throwing this one more....again!!

Picked this one up from another Hammerhead (you the man G) who praised the Diesel line for over a year before I picked this one up. Drilled stacked leveraged without a weight hole. This one flares 6" easy and just lives for oil! Heavier the better. Low load particle coverstock is easy to maintain also. Kept mine in box condition since new, although I've seen a teammate polish his up to 1500 with sucess. Diesel core is one of the best early rolling cores ever made by Hammer. Although the ball is now discontinued, the core lives on in the Big Block and Big Rig Diesel lineup. Why mess with sucess? Trademark Hammer roll, hit, and carry make this one a definite keeper. Ball is getting harder and harder to find. Snatch one up if you ever get the chance. Purely awesome... Spike

10/13/04: I noticed the you cannot crank this ball like the other Diesels. I moved to play and "down-and-in" shot with a strong basic release. It held the line and made a controlled move to the pocket. You can not open up the lane with this ball unless you polish it. I was amazed with the control this ball allowed me considering the high differential and strong coverstock combination. The ball had exceptional length with a stong, yet not overreacting move to the pocket. The pin carry was exceptional and it it matched perfectly with my Diesel Reactive Pearl. The Particle holds the line while the Reactive Pearl skids with a nice flip move to the pocket. With only three games on it, it's hard to say how it will turn out, but it's looking great so far.

Wow! I'm 13 and around a 160 avg bowler and this ball really works. My other ball that I like to use is the Blade Pearl. It worked okay for me but didn't give me any action on heavily-oiled conditions. I turned to the Diesel Particle and was glad I did. I've only had it a few days and I have already thrown several 200s and 190s. This ball was so easy to adjust to. It was easy to control right out of the box! Another thing about this ball is that it follows a simple pattern. Once you find your groove(which doesn't take very long) you can't miss! Even if you do miss what you were aiming for, it adjusts for you and still creams the pins. I can't wait for this summer so that I can try out this ball on different lanes too! Should be exciting! Just remember: Bottom line is - this is one killer ball! And as always - Hit it hard, hit it real hard, nothing hits like a Hammer!!!

OK, I've had this ball for a while. I'm mainly a tweener with medium revs at around 17 mph, but I can play many shots, even no thumbed. But anyways, I really like this ball. The low RG and high differential make for a deadly combination on heavy oil, and the particle load coverstock makes a nice, strong arc to the pins. I have this ball pin under ring with the CG swung out, and so it is definitely a heavy oil ball, early rolling. I can swing this thing out, and it will recover easily. The high differential, and therefore flare, is good for me since I don't have a huge amount of revs with my typical shot. This is my heavy oil ball to complement my Bruiser for medium, my Power Groove Reactive for light and my spare ball. This ball works pretty well, since our local house puts up a freakin evil OOB.... Oh well. Buy this ball. America commands you. Now move!!!

I had my pro shop guy drill this ball to give me an even arc down the lane. This ball was going to be my most aggressive, biggest hooking ball. Let me tell you, IT IS!!! This ball flat out hooks. I'm a bowler that throws with very few revs, so I've never been able to play an inside line...the ball would always skid right past the head pin, or if the lanes were toasted the ball would always hook out too early and leave me 8-10's all the time. All that changed with this ball. I can actually throw over 4th arrow and swing out to about the 12 board...for me thats huge. I'm sorry this review is only me praising this ball...once the nastalgia sets in I'll edit it with more details about ball reaction and the like. But trust me, this ball kicks ass...however, if you are a high rev player I'd recommend the Diesel Particle Pearl instead...The Particle seems to be best for low rev guys like me that need to be able to swing the ball.<scrip

This ball will come back for you in heavy oil as long as you put some revs on it. It starts its roll early and has a very nice even arc to the pocket. Carrys the 10 pin out real well although it will leave some 9 pins due to its power thru the pocket.. Left side spares like the 4 and the 7 are automatic as it will plow thru the oil to get there. When the lanes start to dry out, you had better move left quick or pick up a Diesel Particle Pearl. Dont try to throw it harder, it will just rev up quicker. Another great ball from Hammer. Update: Shot a 227, 279, 234 for a 740 last night (3 Nov 03) with the Diesel Particle. The oil pattern was long oil, gutter to gutter with moderate back ends. The Diesel Particle plowed thru the oil and ripped the rack over and over. With a little better execution of shots on my part, it could have easily been a 800 series along with a 300...........will get it soon :) Update Part Deaux.......Shot a 703 last Monday night with this ball. Once again, wit

OK...IT's starting to get scary with this ball. I am averaging 209 after 5 weeks. 3 of my first 5 series have been 653, 672, 616. The ball is devastating. It has taken me to the next level. The good bowlers talk to me now!!!! They think I am good. The ball is simply amazing. I would call myself a stroker. Nice and simple. Lay it out over 8-9-10-11 and WHAM!!! It is controllable when shooting spares. It moves but does not run like crazy. I carry high hits, others leave splits. It hits the pocket so hard. It is very explosive....

If you encounter a heavy oil tournament shot, or sport shot, this is your ball to use until the lanes break down. But for those with slow ball speed, this is too much ball for many house shots... don't often find conditions with enough oil for this... hooks right off your hand, so its hard to get it down the lane; you'll likely miss your mark left. If you want a ball that will scream like a banshee right off your hand and will cut through any amount of oil, this will do, but if you're not in need of that, and especially if you don't have much ball speed, then buyer beware.

I guess I should write about this new treasure cleverly disguised as a bowling ball. The Diesel Particle is a wonderful compliment to the Diesel Particle Pearl. Both are drilled up in the full leverage "C" position (3-3/8" pin from CG & PAP) and I have yet to shoot below 200 with the Diesel Particle. I was even averaging 240+ with it for the first few weeks! It does not roll out early, but maintains a smooth controllable arc with explosive power at the back end, enough to blow the rack with minimal ball deflection even on the heaviest of patterns. The coverstock is also versitile, but I keep it dull for the heavy-oil shots. Even when bringing the ball inside 3rd arrow, it did not over-react through the nose, but delivered amazing recovery to the pocket. When rolled outside the mark, with speed reduction the Diesel still found its way to the pocket while still delivering the trademark Hammer hard-hitting performance! As stated, this is now my new hard-hitting favorite! And as alway

I drilled this ball balance leverage and I polished it up so much the coverstock is almost likethe diesel particle pearl. It goes long and snaps hard and very sharp. If you dull it you can probally play it on heavy but its so easy to polish it up if you want to use it for medium. It has great pin action. It starts a very strong arc around 40 to 45 feet down the lane but cuts a lot sharper then my eliminator. Very easy to maintain, you do not need to clean it besides a towel just to wipe off the oil while you are using it. I believe its a very versital ball and just polishing and sanding it can easily change the reaction and breakpoint for what you lane conditions you are bowling on.

The Killer
This ball was just great going down the lane. I polished it so I would only have to throw around 16mph to keep it going into the pocket. I played the five board all the way down and when it hit dry at about 40 ft it began its beautiful arc to the pocket. It was rather forgiving and causes some great pin action. Awesome hitting power and great carry on the ten pin. The hook and the roll were very predictable and it was obvious when it would strike and when it wouldn't. Great ball for a medium rev medium speed player. Great for heavy oil without polish.

I was using this ball on med/heavy oil and getting great contol. I am bowling in a summer league with a light oil pattern and could find a ball to react the same from shot to shot. I added a step to my approach and increased my speed and this ball was great it sit through the heads and carried every light to heavy pocket hit I threw. Cant wait to get back next week and try it again. This ball gave me 6 boards to play with when the other balls I had tried were lucky to hit th pocket if I hit my mark.

This ball has an amazing response in oil. It rolls equally well on synthetic or wood lanes. For the money it is my fovorite ball right now, however on dry lanes you are better off using something else. If you can't find the pocket with this (on oiled lanes) you are doing something wrong. Ringing 10's seldom occur even on less than perfect hits, and this ball also carries most broklyn hits as well. This is my first hammer since faball was purchased by ebonite and I am very impressed. I hope they keep the hammer line going strong for a long time.

I got this ball drilled at carolier lanes and that day i bowled great. The ball has a lot of power when you hit the pocket. I was playing on a heavy oil sport shot and the ball was still moving agressive. The coverstock is very nice.....a lot better than most hammer balls. This is a perfect ball when they put a ton of oil down. If you hit solid pcket there is a 96% chance that it will be a perfect strike. The pin action is wonderful. I was on the way to a 300! Once you find a mark thats working, then it will be all good.

Best damn ball on the market!!..... Explosive power and very controlable!..No need to sand or polish this puppy...right out of the box it Rips the rack even in the heaviest of oil conditions...Even with a lot of carry down oil this ball will get the job done with very little effort!!..ALWAYS the first ball out of the bag and the last one back in!!!....I have bought just about every so called oil ball on the market this year and had I learned about this little beauty sooner I could have saved myself quite a bit of cash!!.

When the oil becomes spotty ball reacts exactly like the rock, it hits to hard and carrys right around the ten pin. Other than that an execellant ball to have! When the oil is consistent so is the ball. It runs out a lot better than the old hammers. Much as others have pointed out that is not for use on dry lanes, the only thing I have had to do is speed it up and and swing it out. The spotty oil issue drives you nuts, I hate leaving ten pins on a consistent basis, and it brings back old dislikes against the hammer line of bowling balls <sc

Overall, this ball is AWSOME. I have used it out of the box, and it goes into an earlier roll than a polished ball, and it dosen't over-react. I have put some Black Magic Plus on it, and it goes down the lane very clean, and made a nice entry to the pocket. Either way that I have had the surface, it dosen't make a sharp right hand turn. Mine is drilled 4X4, with a balance hole to tone down the backend reaction. For the price, it dosen't get much better than this ball. Once again, Hammer bowling balls are where its at.

I'm a 185 average bowler who hasn't bowled over a 220 in my limited action as a sub on my league. I'm not very technical when it comes to ball characteristics so I'll do my best to describe the action. Out of the box I rolled a 203, 236, 238 with the Diesel Particle. It's amazing how this ball homed in on the pocket and hit like a truck. I then bowled a 228, 213, 242 while practicing. It really gets rolling early, hits hard and is forgiving of missing your mark. I'm more of a stroker type bowler who needed a bit more power to rip the heart out of the 5 pin. The Diesel certainly met my expectations and then some. This ball is also priced well. A definite for the "Best Bang For The Buck" category.

I am a long-time bowler who has never averaged 200. I am quickly learning this is only an equipment ptoblem. I am not a "cranker" but hit the ball pretty good and usually can hook on any lane...until recently. Current average is low to mid 190s. I have had only 1 300 game, 2 290s, and 4 700 series...and one of them was the first night using this awesome rock. Right out of the box: 219-233-259=711 with about 5 open frames. I see the future and it is good. All problems with carry - GONE. Is this heaven?? Now, my next project: figure out how to convert the 10-pin....

I was looking for something that would hook on oil. I found it. After getting the ball drilled, I threw a couple of shots on fresh oil. The first, I rolled over 20 out to 7 and went brooklyn. The second, I rolled over 25 out to 5 and hit dead flush. After a trip back to the pro shop for some polish, I was able to play 20 out to 8 with a good backend reaction. I was very surprised with the control I had with such an agressive ball. As the lanes broke down, I changed balls, but found myself returning to the Diesel after the oil had been pushed farther down the lane. While this ball is definitely not for everyone or every condition, it is one of the best agressive balls in its price range.

We drilled two of these for shop guys. The first bowler is more of a spinner and his ball was laid out with a 5" by 5" stack with the box finish. The other bowler is a high rev, high speed bowler and his ball was laid out with a 5 1/4" by 5 1/4" drilling with a Polished 800 grit finish. Both bowler felt like that were able to have the ball recover on shots wide of target, and pulled shot where more forgiving. The spinner was able to play around 3 arrow and get the ball out the the 10 board at the break point and the ball was able to drive and carry very well. When he missed wide of target this ball still had enough energy to get around the corner and still have good hit. The high rev, high speed bowler was able to play around 3 arrow and swing the ball to the 5th board and get the ball back. The ball carried extremely well and held the pocket through the pin deck. I think that with these two different bowling styles that both bowlers were able to create more are
