I tried this ball in 3 different surfaces: @2000 grit @1500 polished @4000 polished At @2000 grit, I got a smooth controllable reaction, great for tough conditions, when looking for less hook and more control at the breakpoint. But if you have margin for error for better carry, put back it in your bag. At @1500 polished, I got more length and more backend than at 2000. But it still wasn't flippy like a typical polished ball, it kept smooth and controllable, but with more length. At @4000 polished, I got a plastic-type reaction, only allowing me to use it on Light oil. It got more length than @1500 polished, but even less backend than @2000. Hooked 2 boards more than a Storm Big Hit.

I didn't like this ball at first. I had it layed out for heavy oil, Pin 3 3/8 from PAP. My rev rate is not very high, so the ball just slightly hooked mid-lane and then went straight. I swung the ball from 20 to 12 and missed the pocket most of the time. Yesterday, I played on heavy oil conditions and tried playing it from 14 to 5 with more rev and more speed and was able to play an average of 170 with 212 being the highest game, which is an excellent result for me. But i still can't make it perform a strong arc in the backend and even if I hit the pocket, there is no devastating effect like with my old Columbia Rock. The 7 and 10 pin often stop dead in their tracks. With this ball, It is very easy to clear them afterwards though...<

Went from an arcing Zone and a rambling Rhino to the Turbo Diesel to take advantage of a dry backend. Man does this ball love the dry backend. Give it a lubed lane, and a dry backend, throw it hard at the gutter, and watch it come home with a vengence. The Turbo has allowed me to throw from 14.5 m.p.h. to 15.5 without fear of overthrowing, or dropping it into the gutter. FEAR NOT! The ball will come back. The harder you throw, the better it returns. With a dry backend, you can't throw this ball away.

I must admit I was a little frustrated with this ball in the beginning, but once I got on track there was no stopping me and the "Diesel" my lowest score to date is 185 high 265 currently a 180 bowler. This ball is sweet and the response is awesome. "10 Pins be gone", I rarely leave them now. This ball is very forgiving if you are off you mark, it still has the power to make a comeback. I like the fact there are no suprises with this ball and when things look bad the "Diesel" has my back.

Like i said. ball rolls really evenly and has a nice smooth arc. hits really hard for an early rolling ball. loses very little energy. not for dry lanes but the wet/drys it can be useful, just need to swing it. i didnt like it at first, it didnt roll as early as i would have liked and the oil carrydown killed its reaction, so i scuffed it up with a scotch brite pad and it rolls much more to my liking. the oil carrydown still affects it some but when doesnt it affect a ball. all in all a good ball for med- med heavy oil. i dont know yet if it has quite enough to use on really oily conditions, might need to scuff it up some more. any question- mbobo_73@yahoo.com

as i said this ball is condition specific the lanes have to be right to use this ball. Even on the right conditions you might find this ball snapping too soon. and it reacts completly different on heavy oil, being hesistant to move. But now onto the positives this ball can hit like unbelieveable if put in the right spot. and if it hits a little light a lot of pin action is created causing a lot of light pocket strikes. the LMB ring on the core causes it to snap hard making it more forgiving for me on spares and also splits and seven pins are easier with this ball than eith other that i watch. and remember this ball uses a very versitile coverstock similiar to the one on the ebonite V2. this coverstock can be easily altered to fit the lane condition sand it for heavy oil and polish it for lighter oil and a later breakpoint. Overall, a solid ball from Hammer.

I had this ball drilled up in preperation for my college roster roll offs. I was wary of it at first because I really didn't know what kind of reaction to get out of it. I was pleasantly surprised. There was no eart shattering backend reaction, no early roll that told you where the ball was going to be 10 feet down the lane, there was just a nice smooth easy arc that was a sight to behold. I was throwing it up the second array at about 12 and letting it get out to about 5. the motion back to the pocket told me exactly what i was going to leave. I rolled 6 games to "break in" the ball and on my 6th game I actually rolled my all time high game a 278. I shot the first 9 and hit high on the 10th. this beats the 272 I shot when I was 14 UPDATE: after having this ball shortly after its release I still love this ball. It is by far my favorite ball in my arsenal. The coverstock is strong there aren't any knicks or scratches, the roll is still has predicatble and consistent as eve

This is actually my first time to own a Hammer ball. I am not at all disappointed. I had this turbo diesel replace my deuce. I am not sure if it was the drilling or the oil but the turbo diesel totally outhooked the deuce. I haven't tried it on league conditions. I'll soon update this afterwards. I had it drilled and tried it right away. Had it drilled with hammer's layout no. 1. From the looks of things it think I won't regret having my Deuce replaced with this one. hmmmmmm. . . i think the 100 words minimun should be lessened a bit :)<scr

This ball is great but you have to put polish on it or it hooks way to early, but this ball carry's everything you will never have to use a plastic ball for ten pin's again. But this ball has its downsides on dry lanes the ball hooks way to much so you will have to move left and on the right lane you have to stand in front of the ball return but this is only how i drilled it and it depends on how many revs you have. mine is like 330 so i have to stand in front of the ball return. but overall this is another great hammer ball, and another reason to get this ball is because it has the Ebonite V2 coverstock..

As I said in my last review, I had been in a bad slump for about 5 months so bad that Gil told me to put away every ball I own except one. His point was I had lost that vital part of my game correct equipment choices. He was right I would grab another ball and stay glued to the 13th board my favorite line. The slump was brutal and finding my way out has had me looking long and hard before drilling many new balls. However after deciding to leave the Mother Ship (Storm) I chose to throw Primarily Hammer many of you will ask why so best said it is this. I found that in pocket shots my hammers left fewer freaky leaves. Very few splits if in the pocket and almost never a washout. I laid this out double leverage and installed the VISE vaccu grips and an oval thumb insert. This ball has a sweet line to the pocket anywhere from the 6 board to 25 it gets through the heads effortlessly and makes an early unending move till it is through the pins and off the rear deck. Leaving 10 strait back in

Great ball, I had this one drilled weaker then a lot of the other stuff I throw. I have the pin located a quater inch under my ring finger which lets me play a lot straighter. Finish is factory/out of the box. On fresh or burnt conditions this ball has a consistant reaction with a nice recovery when I miss wide of target. The Turbo Diesel rolls out really nice in the backends, and carries out the 7 great. Only problem I'm having with it is that it leaves a few too many 8 pins, but that could also be from too much hand in the shot. I can't complain about this ball because, well, there aren't any bad things about it yet. Great ball for anyone with a shot around 19-20 mph.

I was throwing this ball on fresh oil and it was like a work of art. The ball just carried to a perfect 45 ft and made a picture perfect arc as it came back in and shredded the rack. I was throwing about 17.5 mph throughout my series and had no trouble bringing this beauty back in. threw back to back 7 baggers the first to games but as the lanes started drying up it bit to hard. Just make sure you got a good medium oil ball to use after this and you're set. there was nothing bad about this ball just make sure you have good ball speed and plenty of oil.

I drilled this up as soon as they arrived. I laid the ball out with the pin 4 3/4" and the CG 3 3/4" for my Positive Axis Point (PAP), and the LMB 4 1/2" for my PAP. I went over the ball out of the box with a Grey Scote Brite to smooth down the cut lines in the ball. I tried this ball on a light oil tournament shot and I was swinging the ball from 20 to 5 and the ball was running high every shot. I put it away. I tried this ball out on a sport shot that was medium-heavy oil to 38 feet buffed to 42. I was able to stand 22 and play 15 to 12 with the Turbo Diesel and it had great power at the pocket. With the Modified Block on the top of the core gives this ball more power at the breakpoint but still has that hard arcing motion like all the other Diesels.
