I bought this ball to handle the drier lane conditions . It tends to hook a little tooo much whe nthe lanes are REALLY dry. Some oil is needed to make the ball react. I have the ball drilled according to the spec sheet for dry lane, but still hooks a LOT. I was expecting a lot less hook than I got, however, it's still controlable and very preditable. Amazing pin carry, didn't roll out and maintained a lot of energy for such dry conditions. Ball can be used for light to medium oil with a good degree of success and carry. Maybe I should just pull my Manhatten Rubber out of the closet for these conditions!!

Update 02/02/05: This day isn't exactly for drier conditions. While it gives excellent length through the heads, it actually makes a stronger backend move than the Big Block or either particle model Diesel. Update: Shot a three-game league format practice round and my new personal best series (760: 279, 215, 276). 35 pocket hits out of 36. The lanes were fresh, medium oil and synthetic. It still had the control, lack of over/under, and exceptional pin carry. Like other reviews I've read, this ball is very controllable. The higher Rg drilling I chose gave me exceptional length, good arc, no over/under reaction, and the pins stay low on the deck for increased pin action. The only real problem I have so far is finding the right hand position and release because the ball will slide if left outside too early. I'm sure it will be a nine or ten after I break it in and get my physical game aligned. If the current drilling does not work out, then it will be definitely plugged and redril

drilled this one 3.3/8 x 2.1/2(25deg) w/ slight neg static... , first experience with the 'diesel' line, and seems like a dependable mid range condition ball.. However, you must have the right surface to condition. If you polish, it's great for dry, won't wrinkle on oil, if you scotch brite it, hooks way to early on dry, but nice even reaction on oil(not heavy) If you can afford to have a bunch of balls in your arsenal, this is a good universal ball to have, just need to carry material to change the surface. This ball is much more surface sensitive than any I've had.

I had this ball drilled for dry lanes with the "B" setting placing the pin right above my ring finger (right-handed) and was surprised and the results. This pattern is for maximum length which is what I wanted, but it still has an incredible backend (rivalling my Vicious Attack!), that makes it suitable for wet/dry conditions. Right after drilling I was challenged by a league bowler and averaged 220 with the diesel to his 158 with his Storm CRG. After about 3 rolls I had figured out the shot using this ball for the first time and a nearby bowler stopped to ask me what I was using and where he could get one. After I told him the low $ (esp on ebay), he said he was going online for one of his own. It just doesn't get any better that! In my arsenal...NOTHING HITS LIKE A HAMMER!!!

When the new range of Hammer balls came out I was very sceptical that they could match the brilliance of the old Fabll gear. So I purchased a Diesel to see how it went and couldn't believe my eyes. This ball would rev up early before making a consistent break to the pocket where it would send the pins flying in all directions. To date my highest series with it is 1016 (234,289,226,267) and a 300 is just a matter of time. This ball has a beautiful roll and even though I don't turn the ball alot and have a high ball speed, it carries brilliantly. This is the best Hammer ball I have ever bowled with, it even surpasses my emotional favourite the Red Reactive Hammer which I bowled my first 300 with.

I use this ball in tournements, leagues and during common house lanes. Powerful drive and ferocious power. One of the best balls I ever bought. Great price, "Who ever said expensive was better?" LIkes: The ball truly hits like a truck. Strikes on any lane condition. Powerful backend. Hardly leave a ten pin. A sure average booster by at least 15 pins. Dislikes: What's to dislike I don't recomend using it on extremely dry conditions. Stick to medium to light. Will hook in heavy oil with a few tweaks and modification in your shot. Great for any type of bowler. Hammer has done it again.

another awesome ball by hammer!!!! u guys are doing a great job with the new gear u are producing. i have my diesel drilled pin above ring cg at 12:00 gives me descent length with a strong finish. after talkin to a hammer ball rep that i am good friends with.. he told me that the diesel line is alot like the ebonite vortex line an i totally agreed with him after rolling this ball!!!! with my blade solid it keeps the pins very low... an when i roll the diesel pins are flying evrywhere... i cant say its my favorite hammer ball cuz all 3 hammers i am rolling now are all equally my favorite an i have soo much confidence in all them... i cant wait till the new releases come out - new diesel, blade, an a vicious!!!!

I tried this ball at a Hammer Bowling Demo Day on a reliable sport shot. Even with missing my target by two boards, this ball still made up for it with excellent pin carry. One can just imagine what this ball would be like on a house shot. I didn't even need sixty million revs on the ball to get it to work from a deep inside line. The only thing that kept me from buying one right then and there was that I did not get paid yet. Believe you me, after the holidays, I'm getting this and a Vicious Particle Pearl.

this ball is drilled with cg in the palm and pin at 1:30 (leverage label). i drilled this ball 15lb so i could get some extra revs on it for a sport shot, i normally throw 16lbs this ball plays great from a house shot to a sport condition. with the right adjustments i have had great success with this ball on either condition. I have played on a 48' shot and the ball still was able to move. this ball feeds through the heads with ease and has a very readable midlane with a backend to match. with this layout the ball has a continueous movement throughout the lane. once the lanes start to dry out ten pins can become more frequent. when the midlanes are oily it saves up its energy for the backends and if there is a dry backend watch out, it will move. no matter the condition, this ball gave me a great read on how the lanes are playing. new update: just finished a tourney used it for 9 games and was able to play the same line or somewhere close to it all 9 games. this ball has amazing co

I drilled this ball up stronger than most of my equipment. I put the pin 4" from my axis and the CG 3 1/2". I have thrown this ball on a House shot, Tournament shot, and a Sport Shot. The house shot is an easy blend and the Tournament shot was extremely dry, and the Sport Shot was super wet. The main difference with the condition was just simple movements on the lanes. The ball made a strong mid lane move to the pocket with an even arcing reaction. I found this ball fits between my Diesel Solid Particle and my Diesel Particle Pearl. The Particle Pearl goes longer down the lane before it makes it move, for me. The Diesel Particle Solid can handle more oil than the Diesel Reactive Pearl. The Diesel line is for people looks for strong midlane arc. Very easy to read and adjust. Any questions, please email me. Thanks Bill BuddiesProShop.com 1-866-884-9355<scri

This seems like a fine ball with a lot of power and forgivable pin action, though it can run away from you. It rolls early and is easily controlled, but if the bowler pushes it too much, beware. This ball has only been used so far on light-medium oil on newly refinished synthetic lanes, and played fine from the outside. However, it can come as far out as the third arrow and still find the right angle into the pocket. For a nice ball that can roll the outside, at a good price, Hammer hit the nail on the head.
