SIMPLY THE BEST! OVER 1000 GAMES AND JUST STARTING TO WEAR OUT. SHOT 289 WITH IT RECENTLY ON A 50 FT PATTERN. DRILLED TO HOOK EARLY AND OFTEN. THIS BALL GOT INTO IT'S ROLL EARLY AND NEVER LET UP. I HAD IT RESURFACED ABOUT EVERY 300 GAMES. ALMOST IMPOSSIBLE TO REPLACE. TOO BAD I CAN NOT FIND ANYMORE. I USED IT ON A VARIETY OF PATTERNS EVEN THE PBA SHARK PATTERN. AND JUST DESTROYED THEM. I HAVE LOOKED FOR OVER A YEAR TO REPLACE IT. MIGHT HAVE FOUND A REPLACEMENT IN THE COLUMBIA RESURGENCE. WILL REVIEWTHAT AFTER A FEW MORE GAMES

great ball, great carry, no seven pin left here(i'm left handed), very versitable. very low maintenance ball if kept clean. if you don't have one then go buy one, there could be a 300 or two waiting for you. great hooking ball with a mission to destroy all pins that lies in its path. i would also say that the hitting power in the bbd is equal to if not better than the ultimate inferno which i also have. this is just my opinion. well i hope this is long enough because i have ran out of things to say

Hammer's Big Block Diesel proves to be a versatile ball that combines an agressive core and coverstock to create "one heck of a ball." Even with a lower rev rate, an agressive drilling allowed me to move inside to the 15 or even 20 board and swing the lane with great results. Playing down and in can prove deadly with this ball, as it has the tendency to end up between the 7 and 8 pin in the pit if you really hit it. It literally drives through the pocket. Agressive coverstock has matched perfectly to the "senior" bowlers in our center, with older men and even some women advancing their game. This ball, with its awesome controllability, has allowed the senior bowlers to learn to hook a ball with very little effort.

New overall review is, i have not yet taken it to be repolished but this weekend i will be getting it stripped of it's factory finish and getting it repolished, and hopefully the new polish will help the ball when it is not always on the fresh oil conditions. But Today this ball was a trooper. It hooked out this world, and it hit EXTREMELY HARD. I however left 4 solid pockets strikes and left the freaking 10 pin but nothing my white dot couldn't handle. Today's performance has shown me even though i have been bowling with it for 3-4 months you can teach an old dog new tricks, or rather it can teach you a couple.

i hate when someone posts a review saying the ball died a month or so later. ive never had a ball "die." maybe that person doesnt know what breaking in a bowling ball is. new balls=early hook sharp backend sometimes too agressive. 30games=a nice broken in predictable ball. and also i bowl atleast 6 games a day. and ive never had a ball "die" the one ball that did die temporarily was cuz i over polished it. and all the polish built up on it means it doesnt hook. so i stuck it in the dishwasher and cleaned the crud out of it. sanded it. polished it back to box finsh which is high gloss. and now its good as new with a nice backend pop. ive been bowling with that ball now for 2 years after that happened. and ive been bowling with the diesel since christmas so about 8 months and it shows no sign of dying.

When I first bought the ball i was estatic. I had read many reviews on here and other sites and it said the Big Block Diesel was great. It was supposed to had an intense amount of backend and when it hit, it was supposed to sound like a monster. I was buying the ball to replace my detour which died on me out the blue also. Got it drilled up to the same standards as the rest of my ball, standard fingertip, and i threw it. I was amazed at the first month, second month, things were ok, but now when i practice with it, it makes me wanna give up bowling. I have tried numerous hand positiing, and ajusted where i'm standing. Right now i wanna throw it in the garbage can, but if anyone can suggest something for me i would really appreciate it. At this rate the diesel won't make it down the block, but it will get the garbage can.

This ball is great this is only the second hammer ive bought my other being the blue hammer 2001 really like that ball too. I saw the big block in the pro shop and told my friend to get one for me in my weight. I figured a 14 pound ball wouldn't hit that hard seeing that i have a apex addiction also 14 pounds and it doesn't no where near this all my other balls are 15. Even for how light this ball is i never seen anything like this ball. I looked at my friend after league yesterday and said to him "I don't think i left a 10 pin all night long." I only shot a 627 but i was all over the place. This ball has a huge area of forgivness i can tell this ball is going to be something special.<scrip

I needed a ball that reacted like my RS1, but is a bit stronger when there is a little to much oil for the RS1. I was thinking of the RSX but I really didn't think that the cover change would be that different. I then looked at Hammer since they have very strong cores in their line up. I really liked the numbers on the Big Block Diesel so I gave it a try. I got drilled to be more rolly than my RS1. The Big Block Diesel made an enourmous amount of mid lane when I tried it on a fresh house shot. I can roll this ball at any angle that night. When I tried it on a heavier oil pattern, the Diesel just skidded and did not really hooked much at all. On any knid of spotty condition, the Big Block Diesel will be way too strong. I was not impressed by this ball's backend though. When I was testing to see how the ball would react when it went Brooklyn, it had horrible carry. When my RS1 goes Brooklyn, it has wonderful recovery. I don't try and get high strikes anyway but that is my big

Ok, Gang! I used this ball on two tournament shots for two different tournament clubs (see my review of Hammer's Big Blue Pearl for those details). My drilling is for an early roll but the out of box surface is polished for some length. If you want a ball that saves its energy when playing inside the 3rd arrow, then comes back like an avalanche, this is it. Be prepared to stand past the 30th board and swing it because it will come back when hitting the breakpoint. For us mere mortals playing a closed line from outside is also an option. Make sure it stays in fresh oil and it will always be HAMMER TIME!!!

finally a big hook ball that is stabble, and controllable. Layout: pin 3 3\4 from pap and an inch under ring finger. cg is stacked. no balance hole. all you have to do is find a dry board and this ball will end up in the pocket. revs up nicely. and has a strong, solid, consistent motion to the pocket everytime. makes my xxx factor look real bad. perfect addition to my arsenal. this balls roll is the most incredible this ive ever seen. makes me look like a pro. reads the lane like no other. so controllable u can play outside 10 and inside 20 on the same condition. i like using this ball on carrydown, carrydown doesnt bother this ball at all. pearl covers slide through carrydown and sanded balls cant get through the heads so thats why this ball is perfect for carrydown. (if you throw it in the right spot).

Well my latest experience with the ball says its an unreal pin killing machine. It slides down the lane smooth and you can just see it building up that energy... and then it goes crazy performing a snap as angular as a 90 degree bend... well ok im exaggerating but its the most angular out of box ball ive owned. There is no doubt that this ball has the right roll, the right hook and finally that hammer hit that ive seen for years but never experienced. It is a wonderful ball for a player who can hit their target time and time again. I had no problems when focused and on target but because of the balls aggressive nature in league I have struggled to keep it in the one spot every time and score highly. Venture just one board off line and it will bite your hand something wicked, it will carve up the head pin and leave splits galore, hit light and its not as good at getting the carry compared with say my dyno-thane element Au79. It also had a tendancy to leave 10 pins on the league pattern

I threw this at a Hammer Challenge, and it gave me a different look than the other balls there. I have never had a ball like this, with so much hitting power, but even rolling. Maybe it's a blessing that I haven't been able to figure it out on the house shot yet, because I won't throw it too much and the ball will last longer. It will probably be a tournament ball for me, when the lanes are oilier than usual. This is my first purchase of the "new" Hammer stuff, and I like it. My kids have had success with the Blades. The Diesel line is supposed to offer control, and that's what I've found.<scr

I've had this ball since last August, and well, It initially wasn't working for me. In fact, It wasn't working at all the first half of the season for me. This wasn't the ball's fault. It was mine. Why am I even mentioning this? I could have sold off the ball, and called it a pile of junk, but I didn't. Read on: January rolls around, and I decide to change my delevery. Instead of starting the ball at shoulder height, I moved the start point to waist level, and my average started climbing. I still saw a little inconsistency in the Big Block. I read a few revews here and at Hammerbowling.com's forum, stating that if you have the Big Block sanded slightly, and then repolished, then the ball will become more consistant. I saw that first hand with havokxxx's Big block, and decided to give it a try. I had a local pro do just that here in town, and that's exactly what happened. I can now throw the ball a couple boards ouside the second arrow, and it will drift to the 4 or 5

Well, I've had this ball for a couple of months now and I really like it. It is so controllable, I always know where it is going, and it is so easy to adjust to. Sometimes I miss one shot because sometimes I screw up(not the ball's fault), and with other balls that could mess up my game, but with this ball I can easily adjust right back to the pocket. Seriously though, I've used other balls that bite really hard and go unpredictably all over the place, this ball is like all other balls' papi, it is so smooth, has a strong backend but doesn't give you that sense of a ridiculous bite that always goes up heavy. Another thing, you can throw this ball from anywhere and hit the pocket, it reads the oils so well and almost always strikes. I haven't left hardly any splits with this ball. My next victim is the Big Deal...that thing looks awesome! Stay away from Storm and Columbia...they are evil! Stick with Hammer, you 'll thank me for that advice later on. By the way, I'm not sure about the gr

I'm a right hander and we laid this one out with a 5 x 4 drill with the pin above the bridge. The pin was 3-4" out and it had 3.3/4 oz of top weight before drilling. I've thrown it on both wood & synthetic and med & oily conditions. The ball liked the med condition the best but, you could make some feet adjustments and lane adjustments and this ball would still work. I've got a Real Deal and had a Saw Blade and this ball is still a better performer. I'm still convinced that Reactive is still better than particle. Get this one while you can because the differential is .066 and the powers to be have told the manufactuers that the max diff. on balls is now going to be .060.

Ball is definitely a beast on the oil. Went with a basic label leverage drilling on this one. Haven't had one since I got rid of my 3-D Maxxx Offset. Ball is very strong once you take the factory polish off. I got mine off with a green scotchbrite and some scrubbing in the sink. Probably around 800 grit now. Great ball on a freshly oiled shot. I have had better success playing down and in with this one rather than swinging it out, but I'm more a tweener than cranker. Still "learning" this balls' strengths as I've had it less than a month, but so far I like what I see. Incredible carry on light and flush shots. High hits could get you in trouble, ball is THAT strong. Overall a great addition to the Diesel lineup. Great complement to my Diesel Particle and Diesel Particle Pearl. Great ball for the price as well. Keep up the good work Hammer!

This ball will raise your average about 10 pins a game. has great carry, power, and a strong, continuous backend. If you are going to a very important tournament soon, I suggest you pick this up. It is great for any shot and it will rarely leave a corner pin. This thing carries anything. Mixers, flush hits, high hits, and half flush hits. When you polish this ball, it will hook later down the lane, but with power. Out of the box, this thing rips the rack after a mid-lane hook. The ball is awesome. The first time I bowled with it, I came in 6th in a JBT tournament.

The ball is excellent, when I roll it between my legs, I always get a strike. I sometimes throw temper tantrums when I miss the pocket though. I don't know, it's just my nature. But anyway, I feel that this ball hits hard, and sometimes I even knock down some pins with it. Last week, I shot a 150 game with it, and I felt as if I were the best bowler in the world. I love bowling. I can't wait to make it to the PBA with my skills. I can't wait to throw the new ball from Hammer, the Real Deal, that is supposed to hook more than my Big Block Deisel, so I should try it. I like my balls to be used only on dry lanes, I can't handle the oil that they put out now a days, maybe the real deal can make me feel comfortable about playing in oil.

First of all let me say that I needed something for a longer house shot than I was used to. So a buddy of my suggested that he could sell me this ball cheap. When I first got it, it was polished and it wasnt really reading the midlane very well.just kinda sliding past the breakpoint of where I thought it was going to roll. So I sanded it down to 800 and noticed that it read the midlane a lot better. It hits like a truck and a half. It doesn't like carry down tracks that much. But I do like the ball, especially since this is my first Hammer ball.

Overall, I find this ball to be a great alternative for varying lane conditions. I've thrown the ball on decent oil and as with any ball for me, the reaction depends on where I am, where I throw and my speed. I find this ball to be best suited for medium oil though as I can throw a more natural ball and play my game versus slowing the ball to compensate for the ball being a reactive coverstock. On the medium oil though, WOW!! Ball definitely reacts when it hits a dry area and has a very strong snap. However, it’s still a very controlled ball, and that may be the result of my speed, not sure. With a change of hand and release, I find myself able to play straight up 5, however, the release cannot be the same as my normal ‘swing’ shot. Still, a great ball in my opinion for the changing lanes. Oh yeah, the ball does not have the OOB finish anymore. When I first got the ball, it was all over the place. Got the surface adjust to be more grabby and that’s when the ball has

I drilled one stacked leverage both pin and CG 3 3/8 from PAP (5 1/8 x 1/8 up) with the CG in the Thumb positive quadrant. Balance Hole on the midplane on a line drawn from the Center of Grip through the CG. I left this ball in an "Out of the box" condition. This ball rips the rack, I was able to play multiple lines with great success. On a 42' sport shot I was able to play up the boards. In lesgue I was able to play a little deeper. If I got the ball too far right I got a little over reaction. If i pulled the ball I got some hold and was able to carry a couple of Yanked shots I have another blank waiting, Just need to make up my mind what I want to do with it.
