Black Hammer

This is the Ball that started it all. The Black Hammer is ideal for medium to oily lane conditions. Rolling along in its second decade of action proves - once a Winner always a Winner.

Like I said, before this is a very hard hitting ball. I got the ball drilled weak for light conditions and ten pins. I'm thinking about getting the ball polished so it will slide more. The ball was already polished when I bought the ball. I told the guy that I just want it for ten pins and light conditions, but he sanded the ball without my concent and now the ball grabs the lane too early. So, I can't really give this ball a full review because the driller kinda screwed the thumb hole and the surface up.

This ball was my first. I bowled at about 35kph. Straight down the middle towards the pocket. Pins exploded but I knew when the pins had had it as there was no actions at all. I've just realised that I have this ball under my bed. I have started using the Hammer Black Widow & now I will have this ball plugged and redrilled to be my spare. I still can't believe that I a ball of any worth. Now that I know it is a pretty good if not the best I won't be selling it. Hmmm I wonder if the next gem given to me will be as good.

I DON'T CARE IF YOU ARE A BEGINNER TRYING FOR YOUR FIRST HOOK BALL OR YOUR AVERAGE 180 LEAGUE BOWLER, THE BLACK HAMMER WILL DO YOU RIGHT IF YOU CAN FIND ONE ANYMORE. THE BALL IS VERY CONTROLLABLE, ALWAYS HANDLED A VARIETY OF SHOTS & CONDITIONS WITH A MINIMUM OF ADJUSTMENTS, WITHOUT A DOUBT ONE OF THE FINEST MOST CONSISTANT PERFORMERS ON THE MARKET. AT ONE POINT IN TIME 25% OF THE BOWLERS IN MY OLD LEAGUE (EARLY 90s) HAD ONE OF THE THREE COLORS OF HAMMERS IN THEIR BAGS. IT WAS THE STANDARD FOR ALOT OF US. THATS ALL I'VE GOT TO SAY ( I'M STARTING TO SOUND LIKE A HAMMER SALESMAN BUT ACTUALLY NOW MY ROTO GRIP EPIC IS MY NEW FAVORITE.

a great all around ball that was WAY ahead of its time !!!!!!!!! this ball hooks really nicely and very predictable. this ball will not overreact on you like a resin ball can and often does. I personall am a cranker and still use this ball as my primary ball today and avg 210 with it.in fact I only use urethane Hammer b/c they are all so good, but the Black Hammer I have to say is the best of the bunch, the bunch being the Nail, blue Hammer,Red Hammer, Pink Hammer, Red Pearl Hammer, Blue Pearl Hammer.I actually have bought a private stash of these balls on Ebay so when I wear my current Hammers out then I will still be able to have a NEW Hammer drilled up and be 100% happy with what I have.<s

This ball is unreal for being "outdated technology". This ball is just so awesome but so is every ball that hammer/faball has ever put out! This ball has proven time and time again that it will work for u not against you. This ball hits like Iron Mike! It hooks so well for being a urethane ball, i wish that faball didnt die but ebonite is a good company to put out new hammer balls. The only ball that is better then this one is the blue pearl hammer what a great ball that one is!! I also am i big fan of the original red pearl with the 2 peice core.

This is a great ball whether polished or straight out of the box. I personally had it polished because I tend to bowl on dry lanes and its sanded out of box finish was just too much for them. This ball raised my average quite a bit over my previous ball (Brunswick Power Groove) so I'm very happy with it. For supposedly "outdated" technology, theres still nothing that hits like a hammer! If you can find one for a good price, go ahead and pick it up, you wont be dissapointed. Hmmm still havent entered the minimum # of words to submit.... *sigh* so how are you today? good? thats good. I've got a minor head cold but doing pretty well I guess.

I found this ball, undrilled, in it's original box, in my grandpa's basement. He said he won it at a banquet and gave it to me. When I took it to the pro shop at the center I work in he about sh*t himself. I got it drilled as strong as possible because the ball is damn near as old as I am. No matter how lost I get this ball will give me at least 180. I call it my "when stuff gets deep ball." Also this ball hits harder than any new hi performance ball on the market. BEST BALL EVER MADE!!!!!

If you're bowling on a wood/sythetic shot and like to hit the ball firm into the heads, you can really open up a lane with this ball. IIf you like to hit the ball and bowl on old-style wood conditions, this still a tough ball to beat. I have still never thrown a ball that hit as consistently on both wide and tight pocket shots. Its still a great ball. For some reason, I can't submit this until I have more than 100 words here, so I'll type the words to a Dylan song until I get to 100.
