For an entry level ball with a little hook I would reccomend this ball to anyone getting into the sport. My friend bought the same ball and after two weeks he is bowling in the 165-175 range, which he had never come close to before. I was suprised that two totally different bowling styles, I throw harder with more hook and he throws a smoother arc, using the same ball and both scoring well with it. I don't have the technical jargon down but I know that i can throw it and score. I have bought a higher performance ball for high oil lanes but will keep this ball in my bag for as long as I am bowling.

I got the scout for dry lanes; the pin is under the ring finger. It got down the lane and smashed the pocket, then they fixed the lane machine and now there is more oil on the lanes so it sat in the bag. Sanded it to 1000 grit and wow its a whole diff ball, still gets down the lane but has a much more violent move. I stand on 40 board throw between the 4th and 3rd arrow down to about 12 board. If I drop it a couple of boards it still comes back to the pocket, can also play the second arrow as well.

Bought this blem on Ebay for $9.95. If I needed another I would pay full price (if I had to). Best ball I have had for light oil in a long time. It just goes long and turns enough to get to the pocket. If you are looking for control and length with out having to throw 20 MPH, you might want to get one of these. This one had a long pin (4 1/2") I put the pin 2" from PAP and the CG is in center of grip. Very smooth reaction and if there is even a film of oil, the ball goes effortlessly to the break point. Good carry for a three piece. Nice ball for late shift or long tournements.

Drilled this ball 3 different ways to try to get it to work in my arsenal - none of the drillings worked on any of the various house conditions in town. After about 60 games on the ball, I "gave" it to a friend for $20.00 and they in turn drilled the ball twice and could not score well with it. Was this ball cursed? Were the two of us just lousy bowlers? LOL - no idea, I just can say with utmost confidence that this 200+ average bowler could not bowl well with this ball from day one - and I tried like heck.

ok i got the red/black one but that doesnt matter got this ball cuz i didnt hav a dry lane ball. im a lefty. im between a tweener and a cranker. got it drilled 90 dregree layout.im pretty sure pin slightly up. this is by far the best dry lane ball ive ever had. what can i say, it does what its supposed to. goes long with a smooth breakpoint on light to medium lanes. on dry i can play 2nd arrow-1st arrow standing 23ish, comes back fine and smooth and hits like a TANK.!!!! fist game with it 266. did i mention that it has a smooth breakpoint and hits like a TANK!!!!!!!!

This ball is exactly what I expected. Very easy to control on the dryest of lane conditions but still hits very hard. Ball is set up for maximum length and control. Can play any line with it on a dry lane by varying wrist position. Ball does not like oil, will not hook in oil do not try and throw it on a lane with more than a thimble full of oil on it. Unless you want it to go straight. Have I mentioned this is not a ball for even a moderately oil lane yet. It's not made for that.

This is a 14 pound ball with the pin next to the ring finger and the cg in span. No balance hole was required. I was looking for a ball with good length and a tad more backend than my beloved Sonic X. I accomplished this hook pattern with the Scout, but the break point is very sensitive to speed and release changes. The Hitting is below average. While pocket hits carry well, both high and light hits leave a tap or worse. This ball isn't terrible, but there are many better balls out there for just a bit more money.

This is a great ball for thoughs who dont crank the ball and have a average hook. Works great on oily lanes and medium. This ball may be working better than my Synergy I had. Not much effort required to see all the pins go down and all you need to know is the basic. I will suggest this ball to all my friends. Your average will rise without a doubt. I will be getting another after christmas. My experience with Columbia/Scout balls are above all my expectations. You don't need to spend $100 - $200 dollars to get your average above 200+.<scr
