Columbia 300 Scout Jade Pearl Bowling Ball

(14 reviews) Write a Review

The Scout Reactives have Columbia's Super-Flex Reactive Urethane coverstock. Columbia began with the same core as the Shadow/R. An offset heavy puck below the center of the ball is added inside the three-piece core. This puck creates pin out and medium differential Rg. This is the first three-piece Columbia ball with built-in track flare. It gets down the lane easily with good backend turn.

I bought this scout to basically replaced my polished beast with mica. I had it drilled the same to for a smooth predictable roll on drier lanes. This ball disapointed me. The roll this ball had was not predictable what -so -ever. It either skidded in oil or rolled very early on dry. It is okay on broken down shots. On those conditions, the ball was good. But while bowling with it, you can tell by the reaction that this is, absolutely, an entry level ball. Comparing this to other entry level bowling balls, the scout is not as predictable as the hit line from Storm and does not have as good carry as the power grooves from Brunswick. Overall this is a good ball for broken down conditions but not in total dry. I would have gave this ball a 7 if the scout was priced higher.

a good ball on most lanes conditions if you got the hand if not just move right and point the ball and you should be fine. but if there is carry down dont swich to this ball unless you have it sanded to grit that can handel it but if not dont let it get on carry downed lanes or it will just skid right to the 3-6-10 if you are right handed like me. However when i got this ball it was to be a none hooking ball because i was a big cranker so much that it looked like i broke my arm and crap when i released the ball. but i didnt move it so i had a weight hole put it to make it flip, so it has been good after that but if you have it like the way i have it stay on light to dry lanes.

this ball works great as a spare ball for crankers and thumbless bowlers...giving some traction while allowing you to progressively move into your line...i have the ball drilled with the pin 3/32" below the bridge, the "c" in columbia is just under the skin between my thumb and 1st finger... This ball is better at slower speeds, higher speeds will send it off into neverland, leaving you to be made fun of by the auto-scorer. I have seen some ladies using this ball with a different pin placement and low revs, it seems to work real nice for them.

Well it all started when my friend bought this ball and it ended up taking his average down 5 pins so he let me have it as a gift so I plugged this baby up and tried it out on oil. This ball went long and turned way to hard. NO room for error so I said OK, this is a dry lane ball not a ball for oil. 2 later my X-Factor was hooking and dying out so I pulled this ball out and it did the exact thing it did on oil. I was SHOCKED! This is a BIG dissapointment. But event though I have to give it a low rating I think that the Scout line is awesome and the drilling on this ball was messed up.

If moving from plastic to reactive this ball I found to be very appropriate. This ball does like dry lanes but even so you can get it to work for you. For the price - I thought it very good. It can take a lot of abuse. When it stops working - you need to get the oil out of it. Solar power, dishwasher, hot bucket of water. (See what I mean by abuse.) I use the second arrow. Depending on condition of lanes need to move to the left (I'm right handed). I've had the ball resurfaced twice and the ball seemed actually to get better.

Blue/Gold perlized Scout Pin: 2-3" Topweight:2.55oz Weight: 15.45lb Surface: Polished with Ebonite Extender Polish Drill: Pin above middle finger, and cg under ring finger. No weight hole. ---o------ o=pin *=cg +=center of grip ---0-0---- ----+*---- ----0----- Overall Overall the ball reaction is really smooth. It is a versatile ball I can stay behind it and play up the boards easy, or I can get around and make it have a little bit snapper backend. This ball does not hit the greatest, but the core has allot to do with that. However, it does not have the hitting power but it does keep the pins low when you are having trouble with the pins shooting up. I have ran into some lanes were the heads were burned but it did not seem to effect the reaction at all. However, when I stay under the ball it reacts early when there is a dry patch in the middle of the lane. Sport shots This ball did not react well when I played more up the boards, because you had to be real acc

i am very very desapinted with the columbia ball for make a very poor ball i think the best scout is the particle but this ball its neutral not hook anything in medium oily , ligth oil does not hook in any oil this ball doest have a good coverstock i think it could been better than the power groove series because columbia 300 its better but i can not understand why columbia makes thia ball i think this ball is for kid because this core it is stinky the col,or its great but the core of this ball , the coverstock of this ball, the thacktinnes of the ball is very poor i recomended the wow , and the jekyll and hyde this balls are great for medium , heavy , and mid - to heavy oil conditions respectly

I didnt really like the ball well it gave me a good 223 with it and my first 200. I thought it was the best at first b/c it was my first fingertip ball. But now I dont use it I have moved to track and went to a 15. More pin acting and everything. It really moves when you first get it but as I been saying I just stopes. but the overall Review I gave it 3 pins. that isnt good for me so I will be moveing on. too another ball for good now and forever

This was the first ball that I got when I decided to make bowling a full time sport. It was a great ball to start with because at that time I didn't fully develop my speed and amout of revs I could put into a ball. This ball has a great hook and backend if on dry lanes. However put this in bag if on any lane conditions that has more than medium oil. Also the one good thing is that over time you will find that the ball's overall hook will increase. Also this ball is very predictable when shooting spares.

This ball was supposed to be drilled for dry lanes and we havent tried an arc drilling in 14 pounds since we left 12 and 13 pounds and this ball was drilled to arc and it will somewhat clear the heads and just release all its enery and kill the pins, sometimes it dont carry as well as other ball choices but it does a good enough job , but after i have had the ball for a week there were about 3 huge cuts in it and i have also had this problem with a blue 12 pound super beast and i think columbia may have a sensetive reactive coverstock but who cares the ball rolls really nice and i reccomend it for the player who wants back --- backend that is

I can see how this can be a useful ball for people with little to no rotation. Throw it straight through the front of the lane and let the ball do all the work when it hits the dry back-end on a typical house shot. If that doesn't sound like your game, avoid this ball at all costs. It is way too sensitive to oil. It will not move if it encounters any, and will take off like a rocket when it hits dry. Unless you have ultimate control, don't bother with this one. Due to its weight block, you can only drill it one way - label. Not very useful for most bowlers.

I have finally gotten use to this ball. When i first started using it, it was terrible, but now this ball is good. It isn't really a skid snap ball, but a hard arcing ball. This ball hooks pretty good on the backend though. I was really surprised what this ball can do. I have played in the middle of the lane 15-5 and strike. I have even play the big hook with this ball and have had good results. This ball hits really hard. It seems like every ball thats in the pocket strikes. It holds really good in oil that i like, because i tend to pull it some. Bowler4Life

I recommend this to anyone. I throw the ball with a lot a revs and the ball didn't over react. This ball is the perfect compliment to those wishing to add something to their arsenal that will adapt to the any lane condition. I drilled the ball with the standard recomendations and what I got was a superb performer all night. This ball is a lot more agressive and hits a lot stronger than it is given credit for. I would hesitate to use the ball in medium to oily conditions. This ball was recommended to me by a friend who suggested that it would compliment my style and approach. Needless to say I thank him regularly.

Great ball for a beginner, because it's easy to control, but I felt that the carry wasn't good enough to score high. On any kind of oil whatsoever the backend litterally isn't more than 5 boards. It's probably due to the fact that there really isn't a core to the ball, but a weight block. Ball looks great, easy to keep clean because it's polished, but i ended up moving on to another ball, but I will keep this as a spareball for oily conditions. It was great for spares because there was little deflection probably due to the reactive coverstock.
