Columbia 300 Scout Black/Red Bowling Ball

(13 reviews) Write a Review

The Scout Reactives have Columbia's Super-Flex Reactive Urethane coverstock. Columbia began with the same core as the Shadow/R. An offset heavy puck below the center of the ball is added inside the three-piece core. This puck creates pin out and medium differential Rg. This is the first three-piece Columbia ball with built-in track flare. It gets down the lane easily with good backend turn.

great ball, wouldn't use anything else. It CAN glide deep on you if the lanes are oily, and it CAN snap hard on a dry lane. I have a high rev throw so I can definetly get the ball to react for me. I have tried some of the high end balls and I don't see them doing anything spectacular that I can't do with the scout reactive. I've heard other say that this ball is unpredictable, but honestly..what ball isn't if you haven't thrown it enough to know what it's going to do? I'll take a scout reactive on any lane condition against any high-end ball and we'll see who wins.

This was my first real ball. It worked really well for me in the beginning, shooting between the second and third arrows from far left, it would hook in to the pocket. I started with about a 120 average with this ball and within 6 months I was up to about 175. It brought me my first 600 series, but the hook is almost gone. I recommend starting out with a ball like this before switching to the higher quality balls, that is unless you will be bowling on heavy oil. I thank scout and Chris Castro, my driller, for bringing me to bowling with this ball.

this ball is great for any high rev players that want to play striaghter up. i was tired of playing deep with the ultimate inferno, and since the power grove was screwed up by a certain someone i decied to bring this old ball back. once agian the old balls do it . i love everything about this ball. only problem is it likes to leave some 8's and 9's but hey im not complaining. shot 257 first time bringing this ball bac, but then my fingertips cut me so so i wasnt consistent on throwing the ball and only shot a 173 all spare game. finally i just changed balls that had figer tips a little big and bowled 210. all and all this is a great ball<scri

Lets see, this ball has a center CG 2" pin from the CG Pin is left of the ring finger This ball is awesome, i can't believe i hated it soo much before. Well, this ball the way it is drilled has a nice arcing hook. If thrown right its not jumpy at the break point, and has a very smooth arcing hook into the pocket, a very hard hit, and great carry. If you over turn you hand (aka if you hand ens up like --- instead of | ) it become very jumpy, and unpredictable. if over turned my hand twice the night i got it, and 1st time it jumped and flung across the lane, the second tine if jumped and rolled out. This ball takes some skill to throw, even though its made for a begginner. A pro most likely could get a great use out of this.<scrip

I'm a heavy cranker with 15-16 mph ball speed. This was my first ball so I didn't really know what I needed. It was drilled label leverage the first time I think. Drilled like that it was very unpredictable. It would skid on oil and snap too hard on dry. I was very confused and wanted to get rid of the ball. I went back to the pro shop and the guy redrilled it like this: P XX cg X With the new conservative drilling, I absolutely love this ball now. It's very predictable. I like to play 20-25 out to the 15-10 area and it holds this line perfectly and consistantly.

This ball, this ball, this ball IS HORRIABLE! It has OK carrydown and great carry on pins but oh my god.... you let that thing loose by 1 board and your screwed. This ball is not forgiving and has no point in being in a crankers aersonal. I would recrememnd this ball only to strokers. This ball is not for crankers! Ill tell you....worst $140 ever spent......Good thing its discontinued now...i wouldnt even give it to my brother. Jesus this isnt a 100 words yet? I lost all respect for columbia after throwing this ball DYNOTHANE BARRAGE I TELL YOU IS #1

i love this ball!!!! i use it for everything. i throw it straight down the 3rd arrow for the 7 pin and speed it up a little and slowly bring my hand up the side for the ten pin. it will go straight as an arrow then. only once i have found lanes tooo dry for this ball. i was at states and was bowling 4th round thingy. that was b4 i know how to really throw it straight. now i can take on any lanes i think. goes alone perfectly with my vortex. i recomend both the balls. bla bla bla bla bla bla bla bla bla bla bla bla

This is the best ball in the industry for under $60. I like the flexibility of the coverstock. And the traditional core makes this ball hit very agressive. You have a multi-tude of settings for this ball. You can use your creativity, but I recommend the lable type drills. Your customer will be looking for control when he/she comes to you for this ball. The coverstock transitions well at the breakpoint and the 1-3" flare is easily managed. This ball will work with any 115-225+ average player with any type "hand". You need to remember what you are looking for when you define "hook". This is a 12 board movement ball. And with that, you find the pocket, you stay there....

Well, this is the ball to use when your Ti Mesenger Pearl hooks too much and the lanes don't quite call for your baseball yet. This ball clears the fried heads when the situation calls for it. Carrydown is often a problem with this ball due to the mellow coverstock. Decent carry when light, but increases as you go higher, as long there is at least some hold in the middle. If a serious bowler purchases this ball, it probably will not see much action on a fresh shot. Overall, the 50 or 60 bux is not such a bad investment if you are serious about your game.

My Scout is a 16# Red/Black, 5 x 4, CG out slightly, pin in the ring finger. This is a very good ball for light oil/dry conditions. I'd summarize my feelings about it as: "just enough". If you have a regular walled shot, or want a control ball to play inside on a reverse block, this is just enough ball for these purposes. Be aware, the Scout/R is a stronger ball than the spec sheets indicate. From the low differential, you would think it had no flare. In reality, give it just a hint of dry to catch on, and it can turn the corner and cover 10 - 12 boards with no particular problem. From a 3-piece with nothing but an offset puck, you would expect a fluffy hit. While it is not in the same league with the Ti Messenger cores, I have found that it carries corners better than either of my big name balls with lightbulb cores. On the house shot, I throw it outside around 7 - 8. Just cup your wrist and turn it up; it stores energy really well and all it needs is a little bit of dry

My son likes to bowl with me so I bought him a red/black scout reactive. He rotates the ball a lot so I thought a mild ball would be good. This ball ain't mild. True, it doesn't like oil but on good conditions this ball will FLIP and I do mean hard. After seeing what it did for him, I tried it. Couldn't even get my fingers in the holes ( or thumb). Kind of palmed it if you know what I mean. This is only a 13 lb ball and the first 5 shots were x x x solid 9 x. If you need a ball for tight or drier conditions, don't be afraid of this one even though it is a cheapie, it still hits like a truck.<s

This is a great ball if you bowl in the desert. It gets good length no matter how dry the lane is. The hit is okay. The problem lies with oil. This ball hates oil. If you have any carrydown at all the ball won't finish. If you have even med. oil on the heads the ball will just skid way too far. This ball was way too condition specific for me. I have other balls that will work on dry lanes and also work on med. oil patterns. It is a one trick pony. It didn't find a place in my bag.
