Columbia 300 Reaction Arc Bowling Ball

(15 reviews) Write a Review

With the launch of the Reaction ARC™ , Columbia 300 is introducing a whole new element to core design - the patented ARC Block. In the past, most common high performance cores utilized Flip Blocks on the top and/or bottom of the core. These Flip Blocks increased flare potential and caused the ball to "flip" on the backend. The Reaction ARC features ARC Blocks, which, when added to the top and the bottom of a high-density core, stabilizes the core and creates ARC in the mid-lane and a continuous backend motion. To create the new Reaction ARC, our team of engineers started with an inner core that has a differential of .154 (with traditional flip blocks), which is almost twice the legal limit according to ABC specifications. We took this high-density core, and added low-density ARC Blocks to the top and the bottom. The ARC Blocks reduced the differential to .045, well within ABC specifications. The end result is a never-seen-before ball motion - ARC in the mid-lane and a strong, curving backend. The coverstock features our MegaTEC™ particle, which was developed to create more friction in the oil. Due to the strong hook potential of the Reaction ARC, it's available with a factory 1200 grit "Fine" finish. This is a smoother finish than 600 grit Sheen Finish used on previous balls. The Reaction ARC can be easily adjusted to either a higher polish (using TEC™ Shine) for added length or sanded for earlier ball reaction.

I have won a ton of money with this ball so far. I usually pull it out before the second game at tournaments and almost always win scratch and/or handicap on either the second or third game...sometimes doubles if I hooked up with the right person. The ball will usually hook well through the fourth game, but most of the time starts petering out...just won't dive into the pocket when the lanes start drying out because the ball used all of its energy turning at the breakpoint. If you find an one of these babies laying around, grab it; it'll come in handy on those nights when nothing seems to be working. This ball is a pocket magnet, finds its way to the pocket even when I miss inside or outside by as much as two to three boards. Also usually strikes when coming in light or high...it's amazing to watch. The Reaction Arc has gotta be the luckiest ball ever made.

I also have a 16 pound ARC, I shot an 801with it over the eight board. It was drill for a gradual ARC in the pocket. Lanes were flooded. The ball hooks earlier than my Throttle-Up now my ball of choice due to less oil. I just bought an Ebonite V2 Sweet which will be drilled in between my Throttle Up and Big Hit pearl. This will give me a four ball arsonal in 15 pounds. On the second game out of the box, shot 300. Shot 768 for the night. I played over the 13 board. The ball was drilled stacked leverage. Bought the ball to replace my 16 pound ARC. It hits hard and carries well. The ball stays in my bag alot now. The lanes are drier so I do not need it much. I use my Throttle Up more now.

it was good, till it started becoming shiny, and also it was too expensive for the life it gave me. helped me win lots of things, but i couldn't get any better, need a new ball, if i miss mark, it skids off into the 6 pin area. Overall i don't recomend this ball unless you get it drilled from someone who knows exactly what they are doing, and can make the thing work super well, otherwise you are screwed, because if not drilled well, it won't hook at all, and leave you stranded. i was rather dissapointed in this ball, not what i thought i would get.

Very predicable ball, hits hard and has good carry. I throw this ball when others wont hook and use is for mid lane spares when my first shot carries. Experienced bowler should be able to adjust hook. I have thrown this ball everywhere on the lane from outside to in and across the middle with success in finding the pocket. Depending on your stance placement and speed this ball is great. I have read a few bad reviews but cannot figure out what the problem is. I guess your style of bowling will choose your ball, but this one fits me just fine.

After the house I was bowling at switched to synthetic lanes, the lanes were sometimes flooded all the way out to the five board, so I bought this ball for those nights. It works great still. I like to play the second arrow out to the five board with this ball. I have to be careful to adjust quickly when the lanes begin to break down, and put it away if they break down too much. It does exactly what it was made to do. It hooks with control through any amount of oil, hits hard and carries very well.

I bought this ball over the summer of last year. I actually bought two of them. I was going to use one and give the other one to my son. I had the first one label drilled. Ending weights are 1/2 oz finger weight with very little side weight. I left the finish the factory finish. This ball just doesn't make a strong move towards the pocket. It hardly makes much of a move at all towards the pocket on a long/heavy oil pattern which is what I bought it for. I really had to put a lot of hand into the ball to get it to carry at all. I thought it was just me so I let two other guys who have rolled my balls before try this ball and they both had the same impression. Nobody was impressed with the results of this ball. I then had the second one drilled but this time we went with an agressive drill pattern. I had it leverage drilled 3 3/8 x 3 3/8 with a weight hole to make it legal. The ending weights were 1/2 oz side and 3/8 oz thumb. I also had the ball polished to hopefu

I bowl in the toughest league shot around my area. They oil all the way to the pins, not leaving much backend. I have just started bowling about 7 months ago, and I average 152. The first night, right out of the box bowled 589. Not too impressive to some bowlers but considering my average, it is a nice bump. I found the ball very forgiving. I used an ICON 2 before, a great ball as well, but due to the short backend, if I was outside my mark, the ball would not come back. This is not the case with the ARC. I threw it 3 boards out of my mark, and it came back like someone kicked it left. I had little trouble on corner pins as well. I found if you don't take as strong of a wrist position for spares this ball will cover nicely.

Had the pro guy, resurface to 900 and the give it a polish, after the polish i can throw it hard and straight on flooded lanes. my best shot is now to throw it around 15-17 board and get a great delayed reaction even if i miss my target to the left i get alot of brooklyns, only dis. is if i miss alittle (2,3 boards) to the right i get alot of 10 pin leaves. When i throw around 10 board with alot of revs and slow speed it will do its arc and go the smooth line in to the pocked looks great :o), if i miss to the right i tend to get the truck shot with 1- 10 "split" leaves. if i miss left it will still go for the pocked, there is usualy a oil build up in around the 12-13 boards so the 10board strike shot seems to be forgiving if i miss left and not so forgiving missing right all in all i really like this ball alot even after i got a new polish on it

I have had mine for 8 month now and it still works fine, i use it only on flooded lanes and only to break down the lane so i can use 1 of my lesser dull balls on that track, if you have a good realese with over avg. revs this ball is Very good, becurse somhow alot of revs delayes the hook so it will go the distance and hook really hard with an angle i have never seen in any other bowling ball here is what i do with mine During warm up on flood lanes Throw this ball 4-5 times at the same target and let it grind a good track for you, then get out a polished ball (like predator sparkle etc) and use the track you made with your arc, all in all if you have a good rutine and know how to play bowling this ball can improve your game, but you must know the purpose of the ball

For the money I spent on it, I figured that it would've lasted me about a year or two. I was surprised that I went from using it on heavy oil, to using it on dry oil conditions in a matter of months. Like I said before, I tried every thing to revive the ball, but it just wouldn't come back from the dead. For now, it is a decent dry oil condition ball. I dont really know how it died out so fast. I bowled a couple of tournaments, and some league play with it and it droped dead like I had been bowling with it for years.

I had it drilled for leverage about 3.5 x 3.5. It is a good ball and goes clean through the oil and arcs on the backend. Arc is the perfect name because it does not skid and snap. It hooks in the oil, and then has a nice ARCing backend. It is a good heavy oil ball because it will actually start to rev up in the oil. Good for a bowler like me who doesn't crank. Took it out the first night I had it and shot 615, and then the next week came and shot 612. Very controllable, and has good carry.

Follow up of my first review... Had it redrilled from 3,375"x3,5" to a 3,375"x5" to smoothen out the strong hook... The hook before was a little too strong after all... This drilling suits me much better because its less agressive than before. Now I can throw with as much revs as i like... I don't have to worry about the ball hooking into the gutter... This is always the first ball out of my bag!!! Haven't tested it on dry lanes yet, but coming up soon, I don't think it's going to be a problem to play with my arc... (will get back on this) I stand a little to the right of the last dot & throw it out over the 2nd to 3rd arrow from the middle... This ball gets back to the pocket very easily and hits it so hard (even harder than with my first drilling!!!) that not one pin dares to stay put!!!! Best carry I've ever experienced & seen!!!! I would recommend this ball to EVERYONE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! But make sure to choose a drilling apropriate for your game.. because else you

This ball is the greatest!!!! Never have i seen so much hook?! The first time i threw it, it ended up in the gutter.... But once you get used to it, this ball is the best. Very predictable, and hits the pins hard. Left or right pocket, head on, it doesn't matter, STRIKE (almost every time) Maybe a little too much ball, I have to stand all the way left (righty), and throw it over the second arrow from the right... but that works great for me... To everyone who says this ball sucks: LEARN HOW TO BOWL.... If you can't manage this ball, maybe you should consider trying another sport...

I must say Bill was right on the mark when he said that this ball flat out out hooks the Reaction Roll. A friend of mine said he wanted a ball to hook thru mud but still not use so much energy to get down the lane and save nothing for the backend. So we had 3 balls in mind, The Reaction Roll, Reaction Arc or the Trauma Response. Let me tell you my friends specs. He stands about 6-5 230 pounds puts about 1 millons revs on the ball with a ball speed of around 20-22mph. So he wanted something to hook I drilled this ball stacked leverage with static weight of 1/4 3/4 side with a weight hole on his axis. Ball specs were 16.02 oz 3.5 top weight with a 2.5 3 inch pin. Well on our sport league He stood about 30 threw out to literally 1 board and this ball went brooklyn. Because of its outstanding hook potenial with the nice Arcing dense blocks columbia slapped in there we decide to polish it up alittle. Well it still outhook my roll by about 10-13 boards. I would definatly recommend this ball

I would like to start off by saying that I heard early reports that this ball was going to out hook the Reaction Roll. I must say, I didn't think this was possible. We received one of the Reaction Arc's early and drilled it up for a shop bowler that fell in love with the Reaction Roll. The Reaction Arc was laid out with the Pin beside his ring finger and the cg about 1 1/2" from the center of his grip. This bowler is more of an up the lane shooter. We gave him the ball and sent him out to practice. After 5 minutes, he came back in and said you need to come out here and see this, ???? Chris and I both walked out and to our amazement this ball was going run away Brooklyn. He then threw the Roll and was right in the pocket. The biggest difference that we noticed was that the Arc saved energy through the front part of the lane and then made a more aggressive move towards the pocket. The cut away of the ball, shows a tall, skinny core. But I would have to say that the flip block on
