Columbia 300 Black Chaos Bowling Ball

C haos™ features a remarkable new coverstock called TEC™, Texture Energy Control. TEC is a combination of our proven Super-Flex reactive cover with our new particle TEChnology to provide extra bite through the heavy oil of today's lane conditions. Chaos is designed to increase friction in the oil resulting in a strong arcing reaction with continued hook on the backend. More control, more energy and more reaction. The new Chaos with TEC. It's a lean, mean, destructive machine. Enjoy.

Core Technology: Double Cylinder Core. Fired undrillable Titanium Ceramic Core.
Core Technology Benefits: Locates the core in a position to match the Rg values resulting in an efficient use of the dense mass. The Titanium Ceramic Core adds hitting power to the ball to drive through the pins.
Coverstock: TEC Coverstock Benefit: Small suspended particles help the ball to hook in oil but retain enough energy to flip on the backend.

An awesome ball for heavy to medium - heavy oil. Arguably the hardest hitting Columbia 300 ball from the "Pre - Ebonite" era. The TEC cover stock remains very aggressive after 200+ games, no reaction or carry loss like many balls of today. Put the Black Chaos in the bag once the mid lanes begin to dry up. The dull TEC cover reacts very quickly to friction. Shines well with ProGrip TEC polish, not so well with Degree or Finesse It. However the ball really works best dull at 500 or 1000 abralon just be sure to have some oil out there! How much do I like this ball...well by chance, does anyone out there have a 15lb Black Chaos in new or like new condition they want to part with? Please contact me if you do! I'm most definitely "Addicted to Chaos" :)

I absolutely love to throw this ball. Having said that I have not found enough oil to throw this ball in about 3 years, and even then the times were few and far between. When I have found enough oil this ball rolls, hits, carries, you name it, perfect. This ball helped me to start so many tournaments off on the right foot as in 250+. This ball made it very difficult to beat in the early stages of some match play tournaments, which is why I still keep this ball. Just waiting for some oil to be thrown down to allow me to once again cause some Chaos.

I got this ball from a friend and figured I'd try it out since the span on it is the same as the equipment that is drilled for me. First series with the ball I shot 699. Would have been a high 7 if I didn't make a few simple mistakes. Shot 736 with it the 2nd series. Following week, shot 299 with it...solid 10 pin the last ball. The week after, 300 the 1st game. Ball has a 2" pin and appears to be drilled stacked. There was a weight hole that was plugged at one time or another. If you're a low speed player, stay away from this ball. This ball favors people with medium to low revs I would say. The ball clears the heads cleanly and starts revving up in the midlane and has a very smooth, strong, and predictable turn on the backend. You won't get any over-under with this ball as it is very controllable. If you're looking for a good heavy oil ball that you can find at a resonable price, this would be a great addition to your arsenal.

UPDATE: 2/21/04 - Pro shop placed a High-Rg drilling with the pin above my ring finger and about 1/4 oz. negative side weight in order to hold the length and retard the flip. I discovered that I needed to roll the ball with some side roll, much like Peter Weber does in order to hit the pocket. Upon arrival, it sent the pins flying accross the pin deck. While I had to make a 20 board move to the right, it did take less wrist to make the ball work. I'm impressed. UPDATE: 11/13/03 - I've put this ball in the shop for a major redrill. Being a cranker, I need to tame it down. I tried polishing it up past 1000, but the back end is still too strong. I dropped my rating until the new drilling is tested. Original Review: I found this ball on a used bowling ball website for $42 drive-out. Currently it's sitting at compounded 400 grit surface which I will take up to at least factory 600 soon. The drilling is a lable with 1/2 positive side weigth and the pin is about two inches off my ring

I average about a 185 normally on wood lanes. Didn't wear out early, nice ball, but leaves the 10 pin way too many times. Too much drive to it. Only for beginers. Got it resurfaced to 1500 wet sand and then got re-drilled for heavy oil, and now it takes off like mad. still hasn't worn out and i had it re-drilled about a month ago and i have a league every wensday, and bowl a total of about 20 games a week. a a a a a a a aa a a a a a

This is a great ball. I've used it several times in tournaments when other balls weren't doing what I wanted. It's the old reliable in medium to heavy oil conditions. I had it polished before and it had great backend arc. I recently scuffed it up a bit with a scotch bright and now the ball simply powers all the way down the lane and hits hard. Great pin action. This ball really enters the pocket at a great angle. If it's not solid, don't worry about it, you'll have pins flying all over the place! I turn the ball up a bit and throw pretty good speed (about 18 revs at about 18 mph) and this ball really grips great. You can totally see the surface of the ball tearing through the oil. People get mad at me for breaking up the oil in their line as my ball passes through it. Oh well..maybe they should get a Chaos.

This ball is not for the faint. I don't think I can say enough good things about this ball. It has definately gotten me through some rough spots. This ball scoughs at oil. If the lanes are dry however common since don't even look at it, why too much hook for dryer conditions. This ball is a definate champ, I would rank it among the best balls ever made. Along with the Voilet Hammer Offset, El Nino, AMF XS, Triton Heat Elite, Zone, Attitude and a few others not mentioned. Definately one of the hardest driving balls I've ever had the pleasure of throwing. This ball has definately won my respect. Find one, drill it up and it'll when yours too!!<

Good solid ball but should be kept away dry lanes. When the lane breaks down its still gets to the pocket but since the oil is pushed further it gets bad angles on the pocket and would someitmes leave some solid 7's for me(10 for righties).Got this ball drilled to be aggressive with the pin at about 10:00(2:00 for righties) I get decent length with a big snap at the end. Would sometimes leave a 6 or an 8 because of the large hook at the end. Overall i would give this ball an 8 or a 9 given with the right lane conditions.
