Punched one of these Max's up. Lay out was pin above ring finger, CG stacked no extra hole needed. Ball performed extremely well. What I like about it most is the constant continuation the ball have's when it makes it moves toward the pocket. Ball is very forgiving when you come in the pocket light. However this ball for me drives so hard that it left alot of solid pins in the back row. Im cool with that however. Out of the box finish was ok. I took it down to 1000 and loved it. Great ball if you having trouble getting inside the pocket.<scrip

I just drilled up two balls (the Action Max and a Smokin Inferno - The Action Max for heavier oil and the Smokin Inferno for when the lanes dry up). Well after 3 frames of very little movement with the Action Max (It had a little break, but it seemed to slide and not really grab thru the pocket), I Switched to the Smoking Inferno, and man what a difference. Boy when that ball hits the dry, IT MOVES. Now I am very leary to try some of the other Columbia Bowling balls, especially since this one was such a flop. I thought I would give this ball another chance in a couples league. Still not impressed with it. I also brought a Roto Grip Blue Retro (lanes are usually dry in this league). The Retro Hooks 3 more boards than the Action Max, so maybe the Action Max can be a dry lane-short oil ball. Note: the Retro did have more of a consistant carry.

My fav shot is of the down and in variety. Straight down 10 and hook in. On fresh lanes (medium oil) I had to go 15 - 10 with speed on this ball. As the night went on I had to move but found enough oil to keep the ball from breaking Brooklyn. I'm not a cranker in any since of imagination but this ball hooked back no matter what I did. Went to a house with a sport shot and got a pair of fresh lanes to practice on. I could play 20 - 10 with no problem, just a little more speed than I normally throw. Crankers using this ball will obviously play deeper. What really impressed me was even though the ball crushed the pocket the pins stayed low. If you have a hard hitter and have pins fly over corner pins you know how frustrating that can be. Another plus for me is the smooth readable arcing hook which I prefer over the snap hook. I look for new highs with this ball. Low game so far using it is a 253. I easily see some 300s with this ball once I'm totally familar with it.

Had mine drilled 4 x 4 stacked with pin 1 inch high from the ring finger and it hits harder than most balls that I've had in the past. This is a true medium/heavy oil ball and it does soak up the oil quickly. It only took about 3-5 games before I had to put it away and I found it alittle stronger playing it on wood lanes. The Action Max is very speed sensitive and that was the biggest challenge that I had with it. At times I had to slow my ball speed down or back up on my approach to get the right type of reaction off of it. Tended to miss it breakpoint at times but it does needs oil. Another good ball from the Action line and Columbia

I currently bowl for my high school team and one of my matches away i had ten in a row going for my eleventh, i threw my ball and it came in a little light all i saw was the ten pin standing and out of no where came a messenger to collect the ten pin and i threw the last shot and flushed it. the next day i threw an 832 series to break a youth house record. overall this ball kicks the pins butt and loves the carry down. i average a 215 in my youth league and average a 213 in high school

the action max is a very good ball with a solid arch that leads you 60 feet to sucess. you can play outside or inside with this ball. it has many options to play with. you should make sure not to get it drilled too aggrsive because this is a very high hooking ball on the lane. with this ball i prefer the early roll rather then having it react later. this is actually my first columbia 300 ball and so far i am pleased with them. overall i am pleased with this ball and hope it leads me to great scoring

Columbia is back on track with the Action series. The Action is one of the best balls over the last couple years. Columbia has taken all the characteristics that made the Action a great ball, and filled in the weak spots to produce the Action Max. The Action had a very strong, consistent early roll. In the Action Max, we see the same strong, consistent early roll, but the main difference is down the lane. By CG’s (of Columbia) own admission, the Action was lazy in the backend on some patterns. The Action Max gets to the breakpoint and continues through the pin deck, and hits harder than any other Columbia ball I’ve ever seen. Combine that strong core with one of the most versatile coverstock series in bowling, and you get a great performer. It’s nice to see a company with all the history as Columbia 300 produce some great high-end balls after a short time of not doing so. I’m very excited to see the next batch of new releases from Columbia. Bowler’s PAP: 3” over, up ¾” L

All ball reactions vary, this ball and drill pattern and pin placement may not be for everyone. I avg. 179 and shot 633 . This is a very forgiving and giving ball.Carrys best if you hit high in the pocket. It reacts consistently everytime, reads lane very good, won't act squeamish on soaked outside boards. The colors are blended well. We play on a 38 foot shot, it's a taper and plays well for down and in bowlers. This ball starts up fast and finishs with a strong arc and destroys the pins. One shot ten out the back.
