Very smooth predictable reaction carrys well, only dislike is ball is so strong leaves occasional 8 pin put I can live with that. I was searching for the perfect ball company and when I threw this ball I was instantly impressed I can play lots of different angles on various patterns and lengths and the ball still carrys well. Polished up the ball from the very beginning so I really donnt know how this ball would react OOB If your an Columbia buff this is definitly a must have in your arsenal hope Colubia comes out with a second ball from this line

Sorry about that I hit the stupid enter button again. Anyway I just wanted to update you on the ball. First of all I still love the ball but I wanted to try some things with the coverstock. I decided that I would polish the ball up because the lanes at my house started to get drier then usual. So I did and to tell you the truth I didn't like it at all. I wasn't getting that nice turn into the pocket that I was at 4000 grit. So I took it home and took a 4000 grit pad to the ball on my ball spinner and it didn't seem to get the polish off like I wanted to, so I took a kind of used 2000 grit pad and sanded it, and I tell you I could not be happier. One thing I didn't mention in my last review was that every once in a while the ball wouldn't pick up it’s roll until to late but then the next shot it would pick up its roll right on spot.. So I thought that is was something I was doing with my release. However, now that I have it at 2000 grit well actually it is more of a 2500 to 3000 grit th

Well i thought i was pretty much done with this ball when i got my roto cell. My rival is drilled strong, turn early and hit hard which is wat it used to do....till my league shot was made more heavy oil. my rival started to not move at all...today on my saturday league i was suprised my cell wasnt hooking much so i pulled this out and it moved and moved hard...the first game with the cell was a 245 started the second with the cell and switched to the rival and shot 204 , and 204 for the third.....653 not bad

I own a Resurgence and that has always been my favorite ball. However this Rival by C300 is really making its way up to becoming my favorite ball. When Chris Barnes said that it was his 80%er he was right. This ball can be played from a bunch of different spots on the lane, depending on what the lanes are like. I have played anywhere from 20 out to 5 to straight up the boards with this ball. The thing I noticed right away was how fast it kicked in to second gear once it hit the break point. I am a power stroker, so I don't have that much hand but with this ball once it hits the break point it revs up so fast that you would think I was a Cranker. This ball hits extremely hard and keeps the pins nice and low. If I had to say something bad about it, it would be that I seem to be leaving a few more solid 9 pins. Oh did I mention that I am a lefty. However I might be leaving those stupid 9 pins because of the pins being a little off spot, because I am even starting to leave them with my Res

The ball has a seamless transition at the breakpoint for great readability. I wouldn't recommend it for anything more than medium light, unless you are a down and in bowler, which is pretty much what i was forced to do with it. When I first got the ball I absolutely hated it, big disappoint in it but after it was polished, it began to grow on me, The most I shot with it was a 267, 266 couldn't seem to break that trend. Also a lot of trouble with 10 pins. And considering the extremely smooth roll it had, i found a lot of overunder problems with it. For those of you who watch the PBA Chris Barnes was using it one week and he said right on tv, one to the right you leave the bucket and one to the left you leave a split, you have to have your speed and position just right, you don't have a lot of room for error with this ball.

This ball works really well if you have enough head oil. It must be put away if the mid lane gets burned up it starts to get a lot of over under reaction. This ball works best on fresh oil if you wanna go straighter just keep a good speed. You can also move in and play inside if you keep your speed down and good rotation. The best thing I've seen about this ball is on any typical house shot it has phenomenal area. On a house shot this ball works well because of its mid lane roll and smooth back end. o and don't polish this thing up unless you've drilled it to store its energy i know it sounds weird. if it is drilled to go early at all keep it dull because if u dont the ball will roll out every single time.

Columbia did very good on their first "new" attempt at a mid-priced ball. Quality and price rank right around the same as the Hammer "Pain" Line....3" Pin drilled with the recommended layout (Pin out, CG in center of palm). No weight hole required. In the box finish, ball was very aggressive and slightly uncontrolable. A light coat of polish helped with this tremendously. Ball is incredibly clean through the fronts and aggressive through the pins. Drilled a second ball with a 1" pin and went pin down. Compared to the 3" pin, ball was a lot more aggressive. Recommend #1 layout with a little polish to help the ball get down lane.

I know i already reviewed on this ball but i just wanted to say that i give this ball over a 10 rating. I went bowling today at victory lanes, in springfield ohio, and i bowled my very first 300 game using this ball. I have dreamed of this for many years now...and being only 16 it is just amazing that i bowled a 300 with only a 170 average. I just wanted to say thinks to columbia for making such a great ball. And i want to say thx to my proshop owner for hooking me up with such a great ball. It is wonderful, and i hope that my reviews have helped you guys out.

Overall this is a great ball, i hold a 170 average and the first time i threw this ball i shot a 223 and 236. The ball is probably the best ball i have ever used and will ever used. For those who would like to get a harder hooking ball i would recomend this ball for anyone. I used to use the columbia 300 reaction rev, and this is a great step up on hook potential. I bowl for a high school team which means extra heavy oil, and this ball just moved on the fresh oil, i throw 15 mph and start 15 boards left of center and throw to the second arrow and the ball crushes the pocket.

Drilled this with the pin next to my ring finger, and swung out the CG. Out of the box I didnt really like this ball it just seemed to do nothing, (4000 Abralon) I then decided to polish up the Columbia Rival and since then I have been very happy with it, It goes long and make a big jump on the back ends creating a really good angle of entry into the pocket. Quite happy with this ball to be honest and might even drill up some more Columbia stuff in the future. The new Columbia stuff is quite impressive and I hope they keep up making these top balls. I might invest in the Momentum soon enough also! www.talktenpin.co.uk

This ball is the worst piece of crap ever. No carry at all!! I left so many stone tens. I wasn't the only person testing the ball, that had the same problem. That was the first Columbia ball I have ever thrown, and ever will throw. I'm sticking to my Storm and Hammer balls. My pro shop guy got a few from Columbia for testing, and was told that their new balls, the Rival and Resurgence had multiple drilling possiblities for all kinds of peoples styles. I said it once and ill say it again piece of crap ball. No wonder why columbia was giving them to my pro shop for free to test.

4-1/2 in pin, cg about 1" northeast of the center of grip, no weight hole. A stronger layout than i do on most of my equipment.. but the polish really complemented it. With the polished surface, very clean through the heads, and just unleashed the power on the backend. This is a very versital ball for me as well. Works great on the standard house shot, and also rolls very well on the PBA experience shots across town. I have drilled about 15 of these for customers in the past month or so, and everyone whom has one, absolutly loves it. Def. a great ball for the money.

I give the RIval ten out of 10. This ball is the best out there for the price. Right out of the box this ball does exactly what it says. It is very strong midlane and when it turns towards the pocket it crushes the pins it will have your competition trembling in their shoes. I bowled a 300 269 268. If you leave alot of weak 10 pins this ball will take care of that for you. This ball has a very strong backend reaction that does not ever quit. I use the bowl with a Brunswick Impact Zone for about 8 years and that ball just wasn't giving me the power I need when it hit the pins. So I went out and purchase the Columbia 300 Rival and I think it was the best investment I've made in a very long time

The Columbia 300 Rival has been on my "want" list ever since I heard that it was coming out. Ebonite has put alot of time and effort into making sure that these new Columbia balls get the company off to a good start. I was lucky enough to get my hands on a couple of these so you knew I had to drill on and review it for you all. I wanted to try a something a little different than I usually do so I chose a Rival with a .5" pin and 2.5oz top weight. I like using shorter pins on balls that have symmetric weight blocks because it always gives me a smoother reaction. My PAP is 4 3/4" right by 1/2" up for those of you who don't know me. I took the Rival out to a fresh house shot to see what i could do with it. Right from the get go I noticed that this ball has one heck of a backend reaction. It would get down the lane pretty goo then all of a sudden just make a left turn. I moved in deep and tried my hardest to get this ball to come up light and miss the head pin but it would s
