Silver Streak

(9 reviews) Write a Review
The Silver Streak is Roto Grip's latest entry into the mid-price high performance ball market. This ball combines a classic look and price with Cutting Edge Performance. Powering the Silver Streak is a modified version of the performance proven Rotary Core found in the popular Blue Retro...creating a low RG and medium Differential for late midlane read and ultra smooth backend. Sure Grip reactive cover surrounds the core creating a smaller footprint for those medium to dry lane conditions and Sport Patterns.

For starters, this ball is drilled with the pin just to the right of my ring finger and the CG is just to the right of my palm-center. A balance hole was placed just to the right and below my thumbhole. Now, the length on this ball is amazing! At least 5 or 10 feet longer than my Silver Streak Pearl, which means I have a nice 1-2 punch with my two (so far) Rotos. The flip on this ball is outstanding, probably actually very similar in amount of backend hook to my SSP, but this is a more dramatic turn whereas the SSP is more of an arcy turn. The hitting power again is incredible, I have not seen much in the way of weak hits with this ball. And again, it's VERY versatile as I'm able to play most anywhere on the lane. Overall this ball is almost a carbon copy of my Silver Streak Pearl (my fav ball of right now) except that it gets down the lane about 5-10 feet more and makes a more dramatic backend turn.

15# pin out 1-2". Drilled with a 4.5 x 5.5 which makes it a medium lane ball with arcing backend. Great control but it will flip if you get around it to much. Not so much though that you can't control it. Threw a nice 678 out of the box on a medium pattern with medium backends and outsides. I would suggest this ball for a benchmark ball for all players. The ball hits well and carried fine. A few weak tens at first but once i moved right i was fine. The sweetest thing is the price. Great $$$ value for the Performance. I rate the ball a solid 9 out of 10. Nod

The silver streak has been around for over a year now, and I finally decided to give it a shot. This ball is drilled 4x4, and compound finished to 1,000 grit. Typical league conditions this ball may be a bit to strong for those who have high RPM's. I would try a weaker drilling, and polish this ball using diamond gloss. Using this ball on a longer top hat condition it started to read the midlane to earily, and lost some of its backend reaction. I found this ball to be a bit to squirty on longer patterns, and to strong on short patterns. With adjustments this ball can be used on most any conditions, I just find that most typical bowlers have a hard time adjusting, or flat out refuse. All in all this ball is stronger then Rotogrip claims, but still can be controlled with the right adjustments, and ball surface prep..

I picked this ball up used from a guy who gets a new ball weekly for 50 bucks. So needless to say it was practically brand new when I got it. At the time I was throwing my Eraser with moderate success. As soon as I threw this I knew it was a keeper. It solved my problem of carrydown, that my Eraser couldn't handle. This very forgiving ball gets through the heads with ease, reads the midlane and starts it's strong dive to the pocket. Crushes flush and high hits and carries light hits 90% of the time. This ball is very versatile as I can play nearly any condition with success. A worthwhile investment indeed.

TOTALLY SURPRISING PERFORMANCE.THIS BALL EXCELLS BECAUSE THE MATCH BETWEEN COVER AND CORE IS PERFECT.THE SILVER STREAK MAKES SCORING EASY FOR ALOT OF PEOPLE BECAUSE IT IS SO FORGIVING.I NOW OWN THREE OF THEM JUST AS I DID THE THUNDERSTORM.MIDLANE CONTROL AND POWER AT THE PINS MAKE THIS BALL A MUST FOR ALL STYLES.THE BALL LIKES ALL BUT THE EXTREMES AS FAR AS LANE CONDITIONS GO.THE SURFACE IS ALSO VERY ADJUSTABLE,POLISHED OR SANDED,IT YIELDS GREAT RESULTS.LANE SURFACE IS NOT AN ISSUE,SPORT CONDITIONS ARE NOT AN ISSUE,THE ONLY ISSUE IS HOW THIS BALL WAS SOLD AS A MID PRICE BALL.EVEN THAT WORKED OUT WELL FOR BOWLERS,LOL...ARE YOU STILL READING,WHY HAVEN'T YOU PURCHASED ONE YET......

I was a little hesitant with the price of this ball being so cheap, but my bowling guru was right on the money with this beauty. He advised me to jump on this and so I did. I had never thrown a roto before but am now a convinced and converted believer. The back end zip on this baby is unreal. It hits as hard as the high priced balls and is very forgiving. Anyone who wants to try this monster don't be afraid of the price you won't be sorry. It will be a wise and minimal investment for the power and punch of this crunching machine.

Great ball from roto again.. I always have loved storm equipment, mainly their shells. But in the last 3 years, they have made their balls roll too early for alot of PLAYERS ( not 180 ave. bowlers. that is who they market towards) Roto has filled the blanks for sure! this ball will give you a much better reaction then any ball from Ebonite, Columbia, or Brunswick in the same price range and carry a hell of a lot better!! try one today And as a great bowler once said WOOOOOOOOoooooo!!!!!!!! Thanks Jason Williams for your support. Good luck with your future! Corey

After the first game on a first shift condition, this ball becomes a loaded weapon (apologies to Norm Duke). If you need some help with an occasional errant shot, this could be your ball...moderate tug and it strikes...miss your target out a couple of boards and it holds the line and strikes. And strikes a lot. The ball also carries the tenpin with amazing regularity. Only the really boring appearance and early aggressive nature on a fresh backend condition are drawbacks. This could be the very best moderately priced ball available right now, and I am really glad my local pro shop guru recommended it. Buy this ball; you will not regret the small investment. NOTE: Still my favorite ball after using it for a year!

I got this ball finally and was execting it to be an awesome ball. the first games i threw with it were horrible. that night i decided to polish it up, and the next day this ball was a miricle, all the sudden it became the smooth hard hitter i expected. this ball now gives me tremendous carry and a smooth angular backend, if I never threw roto grip before, i'd never believe this ball.. This ball rocks, the only thing is.... where is the SILVER???????? they might as well just call it the streak. buy this ball, but polish it.
