well about a month ago i shot a 298 with this ball, and just last friday i shot a 712 series with this ball. cracked thumb hole and all, it is by far the best bowling ball i have ever owned, and it is also the longest lasting, most durable ball on the lane. In all fairness to Ebonite, this ball was in production 5 or 6 years, a good run for any bowlingball. The versatility of this ball is phenomenal. This ball is a player, a little in the heads to get it started and you can play any line and it will not burn up and roll out. I did encounter a a problem with the coverstock.. Three of my four balls split, starting at the ring finger grip. The latest ball to split was my oldest, a polished version. It was six years old and had a least 200 games on it.

I think that if this ball is discontinued Ebonite should be ashame of themselves! After I made the mistake of poping a pinkie hole in my first one, I wanted to get a second, to see if the ball could compete on todays conditions! So after my trip to texas, I brought my new weapon to my league on friday night in Lexington,Ky. Since December ,30th 2005, Iv'e shot like crap, because of the changing lane condition! In nine weeks I only shot 612 as my highest series. The new ball is 15.3lbs, 4" pin above and to the right of my ring finger, 4x3 drilling with a weight hole 6 & 3/4 to the right! Standing 22 over 9 I started with and 244, then 265,and ended with a 215, for a 725 series. And Just last week I shot 244,266,225, for a 736 series! Two of the last three weeks, 2 700 series!!!I'm going to try to see if I can find another one of these amazing weapons from Ebonite.

Lets see, I had been struggling at the current house I bowl at, I really never got comfortable. I had a 278 with an ebonite tornado, but nothing really exciting. I haven't thrown this ball because of the crack around the thumb slug, but wendsday, I had no choice but to try it. I know that bowling is 90% mental, and I also knew that I was most comfortable throwing this ball. I knew exactly what it was going to do at every given time. Results, 661 series, missed only two spares because of mental mistakes. 4/4 on ten pins which I have the most trouble with. 206-208-247. It felt good to actually bowl good for the first time since i was 17. This is still the greatest bowling ball I've ever owned.

Drilling: Pin under ring finger; right of CG by an inch or so and flare reducing left of grip inside PAP on horizontal center line. Cover Prep: 1000 Abralon with Ebonite Matte Finish I understand why Ebonite still makes the Vortex 2. Only one other ball I've seen with my own two eyes LIVE that creates as much pin action is the original Inferno. Carry is exceptional whether you hit flush, light or Brooklyn. The bad shots I threw were related to my thumb injury from last Spring. I'm still working with that. I'm glad to have picked this one up because Nationals may require its presence with a little rougher cover prep.

This ball has the most amazing hooking power I have ever seen. I throw 3 times a week on heavy oil and this ball just chews up the lane. I can throw it between the right side gutter and first arrow and have it come all the way across the lane with never ending pocket crushing power. You really have to see it to believe it. Anyone that wants to throw a hook should pick this one up. Plus, it looks slick...which is rare these days. I don't care how good a ball is, if it looks like a swirly twirly pink gumdrop, it's not for me. I GIVE THE VORTEX V2 SANDED MY HIGHEST RATING: BEST BOWLING BALL PERIOD. (With out question the most fun I've ever had bowling. Fun to watch, very easy to throw..)<scrip

This must be the ultimate house-shot ball. I got mine over 4 years ago, and I still use it today (I estimate close to 1000 games on the ball!). Yeah, it has probably lost some of its backend, but with a fresh house shot, it's still my first choice. Specifics: pin below and to the right of the ring finger, cg in palm, no weight hole. Plain vanilla. As long as the backends are clean, and there's not too much oil elsewhere, this ball works great. The low RG makes it easy to get revs on it, and it bounces strong off of dry boards. It gets squirty and erratic with carrydown, and then I have to bring out the stronger, heavier equipment. In summary, it's a fun ball to throw, but not the one for sport shots or tournaments. <s

My local pro shop told me that this ball is in its fifth year, which is an exceptionally long life for a bowling ball, by I definitely see why. For my boling style the dull box finish did not work well for me. I used scotch brite to finish to 800, then I used clean and sheen for a base coat then finish with magic shine. When dull the ball tended to burnup early therefore the energy was gone by the time it hits the dry. This ball also deflects well which means great pin carry including the ten pen.

Has been my answer to heavier oil patterns with livley backends. Will read the lane early and set up well, giving you a predictable line to the pocket. Does adjust well with different finishes on the coverstock, maybe one of the best I have ever seen for different layouts and many conditions. Holds polish well, and will work sanded as long as you have enough oil, and adjust your entry angle and speed to the shot. Hits hard and scores well. It is #2 in my bag of tricks right now. I have been using it with 800- 1000 grit finish, lightly polished, just enough to take the dull finish off of the ball. Works well when buffed with a Scotch Brite as well.

have had 3 of these, drilled with 3 very different layouts, with different statics, and got 3 very different reactions. Great ball if you match the condition to your game, but can be a very bad ball if you have the wrong combo. I guess what I am saying, this ball is not forgiving if wrong choice in layout to pattern... so if this is your choice, need to know what your doing with surface/layout to work... right choice, one of the best balls you will have... this all holds true with most balls, but really the case with this one.<s

I have two of them both sanded. One has the pin above and between the fingers, with cg in palm. Other has the pin below and to the right of the ring finger with the cg kicked out an inch. Both of these balls are predictable strong. I have no problem going deep on fresh oil. I usually start off 36 to 18, the move quickly to fourth after a few frames. After that only minor hand positions movements or foot movements needed. Ball feels like it gives me a few more boards to work with. I know exactly when it needs to be put up. This ball just reads the lane well!

Ebonite:Vortex 2 Sanded Pin: 2-3" Topweight: 2.54 oz Weight: 15.53 lb Surface: Highly polished (like glass) Drill: 12:00 stack leverage, weight hole nessary ----0-0-o--- pin=o cg=* center of grip=+ -----+--*--X -----0------ Overall I bought the Vortex 2 to replace my tour power. However, I desired more length and a snapper backend. Playing up the boards is simple with this ball as long as you feed it to the dry part of the lane. I have had little troulbe getting the through the heads in the later stages of tournaments (9-10 game). Getting around this ball is like playing with a shark in the ocean. This ball still gets clean through the lane, but on the backends this ball diggs. On most house shots I can make work, but sport shots a little diffrent. I need longer patterns for this ball (sport shots) or the ball is very over reactive. I ussaly do not stay behind the ball and play up the boards becuase of carry issues but it is there when I need it.

If you only have one ball in your arsenal---this mid priced ball is the one!! This ball will work on a variety of conditions. The surface of the ball can be easily adjusted. Great on the oil out of the box or if you need a little more length throw a little polish on it. Keeps the pins low and for that greater carry percentage and does not quit when the oil carries down. Try to keep the ball clean because if you don't if will soak up the oil and lose a lot of its power. The ball does not react the same after a resurfacing so don't waste your money trying. Your better off drilling up a new ball.

This is easily the most versatile ball on the market, and one of, if not the, best balls. Can be used for a variety of shots (except maybe the desert) and still keeps the same amazing reaction. You know a ball has to be good when other companies start making equipment extremely similar to it (i.e. Brunswick's Inferno, Columbia's WOW, Storm's Core Power LRG...I may be wrong on some of these, but the similarities are striking). I have yet to be able to use this ball effectively in my summer league though, oil to about 39, almost seems like a christmas tree, but easier, but not TOO easy, but give it time, the V2 will find it's way.

16 lb. Vortex 2 Solid Pin out 2 inches top unknown Layout: 5 1/2 x 5 1/2 Pin under bridge, label on gripline. Big, strong, angular backend reaction. Hits hard and keeps pins low. Have used it on numerous conditions and patters, and it gets back better than any ball I have. Even on more oil with the polished surface, it still makes the corner better than any other ball in the bag. Does the same thing on everything-goes long and hits hard. If the Shooter won't make the corner, this ball is next in line. I haven't got as many games on this one as the rest, but it is definitely a good ball and comes up big when I need it. Has never let me down when I call on it. Ebonite, you'd better never quit making this one. It would be the best ball in your line for years to come if you let it. UNO

This was my first serious ball and it added about 30 pins to my average. As a high-velocity, low-rev stroker who plays up the boards, I needed a ball with some bend and the V2 delivered. The ball is very predictable and versatile as to oil conditions. My only problem with it was the early roll took the back end out of the ball, reducing the angle and leaving the 5 pin on even slightly low hits. Ultimately I moved on to a ball with more snap, but I refuse to get rid of this ball and still use it on slightly drier lanes where its reliable response is appreciated.

I LOVE THIS BALL! Great for oil. Throw it out there and it will come back, HARD!!!!! I think its one of the most, if not the most versatile ball out there right now. Ebonite hit the jackpot with this one. Even when the lanes dry out by the third game I can still crank this thang. Move a few boards to the left and just let her rip. If you are looking for something that you can through on various lane conditions (except bone dry) the V2 is for you. I can't wait to take this to a tourney so I can make that Bill Gates type money, lol.

i know my id is "just a beginner" but with this ball feel like a pro. i think this is about my 3rd month as a serious bowler but i feel as if i have been bowling all my life. this is one of the best balls i have ever thrown. very consistent and forgiving. ive had the ball for about a month now and my average has never been higher, currently at 198.5. today i bowled a 256, 278, and a 243. i can honestly say i like everything about this ball and i would highly recommend it to anyone.

The ball just went dead what can I say? The ball developed a pretty decent track after 30 games and it just didnt have the same "bite" it did at first. I guess you can call me old school but after paying 140.00 total including online purchase drilling and inserts I should get at least half of a season on this ball. I just don't have the resourses to spend 500.00 a year on equipment to stay competitive with the field. Now if you have the resources to purchase ball after ball after ball buy like 4 of these and you can just drill another after 3 months

gosh this ball is great and now i know why all the pros use it so much. this ball is drilled 1:30 or leverage label and exactly 3 oz (5oz before drilling) top weight which allows it to get down the lane the ball reads the lanes with great ease. with this drilling it gives a strong continueous arc to the pocket. the ball goes through the mid lanes without losing power for the backend. this ball saves up energy for the backend and just rips through the pin deck. plus the ball gets through the head without any problems so that you can get the same reaction one after another. when you get this ball you'll understand why the pros use it too well i have taken out some top weight and finger weight and in doing so the ball now reads the whole lane, it has a great midlane roll to it now that allows you to see where the oil is on the lane, i liked the ball how it was but decided to make a change because it would only get a nice read on wet/dry and now the ball works on basicly any pattern

This ball is the second coming.... I think ebonite finally has something to hang the hat on. This one will take them awhile to beat and I hope they do what brunswick always does and remake this thing 10 times. Works great for all types of bowlers. If you need hook leave the box finish if you need lenght shine it up. It hits great and is very very controlable even when dull. For all you crankers out there you don't have to shine everything up. Great price and color will be talking about this one for years to come. Any questions Email me at trplx355@hotmail.com . Later

Ebonite really has the greatest ball out on the market with this ball so please go buy one well thats all i Have to say so thanks for reading it!!!

The V2 is the greatest ball ever. I bought myself one for Christmas this year, and compared to my other two balls, a matrix trimax, and a Tornado, this ball hooks 4 times more, it has the greatest backend i have ever seen. I usually play in deep with it, and if I make a mistake it seems to correct itself, unless i really screw up. one thing you might want to consider is polishing it. Because after about 3 months of heavy use, the hook is seeming to diminish. And if you polish it, that wont happen and it will go longer and have better backend.

ok i threw 3 700's with this ball and ive had it for about a month...ive thrown a couple of 279's and this ball just keeps getting better and better...i use this ball with a combo of my track voodoo and its the best combo you can have...when the lanes get dry you can just move in deep with the voodoo. if anyone thinks that either one of these bowling balls suck...you are wrong my friend. i love both of my bowling balls. if you leave a 7,8,9,10 pin its because you suck and you need to learn to put some hand in the ball fa sho...cuz i havent left any of those pins when it wasnt my fault...so get out there right now and get those bowling balls...and if you want another reliable ball go get a ebonite matrix...i shot 298 with that ball and ive had that ball for about 3 years
