Ebonite Apex Reflex Bowling Ball

(13 reviews) Write a Review

Ebonite International, Inc., announces the introduction of the Apex Particle Resin. The Apex features a two-cores-in-one design, combining the high flare attributes of an hour-glass cylinder core and a smoother reacting light-bulb core. The light-bulb core is offset from the pin at a 65 degree angle (5 inches on the surface of the ball), creating the BOMB influence. The Bomb is in the down position, or on the same side of the ball as the center of gravity. This allows the core to be drilled to create the standard strong rolling mass bias drillings as well as the ability to be drilled to create the longer, stronger hook characteristics of a symmetric ball. The Big Easy cover stock is a lighter load particle resin, designed to bridge the gap between particle cover stocks and reactive cover stocks.

I shot 611 and my average is 153. I hit the pocket most everytime but sometimes i came up a little short and left a few 8-10's. however my house has medium to heavy oiled lanes and the shot was great today. It by far is my goto ball right now i can throw it with a hook and i can speed it up and throw it dead straight for 10 pins. Ive been using it for one day and if i can shoot 611 for a first time i cant wwait tioll my game develops this ball is a doozy and i recommend it to any bowler great pocket hit and awseome reaction.

OK, I bought this ball for ball first of all for its looks and its big hook. At least it was released as a huge hooker. So after having it drilled and after throwing the first two or three shots with it, I felt kinda dissapointed, since it wouldn`t hook so horendously much as I expected. Now, when I have a stronger wrist and am capable of generating more revs, the ball is just the thing that I need. It keeps my games high when the lanes are oilier than usual. Although it`s dead now (I am writing this more than a year and a half after I got this ball.) I still can look back with nothing but happiness. So for who would this ball suit the best? I think medium ball speed, medium-low rpms and medium-heavy oiled lanes. Or higher ball speed, medium revs and medium oiled lanes. Just try to avoid using it on really dry, because it might cause too much friction and that could make the ball die faster. Oh, I forgot to mention that this ball works great with carrydown. In fact, carrydo

Well I was bowling in a tournament and found that my messenger ti was not really hooking enough for me so I decided to buy the Apex. Went and got it drilled and the first 30 or so games on it this thing hooked awesome. I have been bowling for 5 months when I got the Apex and shot 266 and 256. Now that is pretty good for someone who has just started. And no it was not luck that i got those games. Now all you have to do to this ball is make sure that it stays resurfaced nicely and get it done very often so that it doesnt ware out.

I picked this ball out of a Ebay Line up. Put a low bid down, never expecting to win the bid. Couple days later Ive got a new ball heading my way CHEAP! I really enjoy this ball so far. Seems heavier than Pred Sparkle I was throwing.( They weigh the same 16#'s) /shrug could be the drilling, kinda new to bowling. Over all though the ball carrys well, but if they start to dry up better bag it or loop it. If your looking for a good breaking ball with nice pin action on Med. Oil. Its worth the money. They seem to be priced to sell and it is a member of the Apex family, which isnt all to bad in itself.

I got this ball from a guy who hated it. So I had it plugged and redrilled. The specs are, 3 inch pin, pin at 1 o' clock and box surface. I used this ball to fit between my V2 Particle and Matrix Dyansty. I love the way this ball will roll up down the lane and then make its turn. Its great. The ball however does do alot of over/under. Also it does leave some really weird leaves. One last thing is it tracks very fast, if you read my review of the V2 Particle I said the same exact thing. Also what gets me is that I can play the same line on Synth or Wood lanes with this ball. It knows...<scr

This ball leaves some weird splits and lots of 9 pins. Almost to strong in the backend. Very speed sensitive and I have to really crank up the side roll to maintain any kind of consistancy. This is the last resort ball in my bag. When all else fails I reluctantly bring it out. This ball doen't seem to like oil especially carydown. I bought this ball to eat up the oil and it has been a major disappointment in that aspect. I haven't found a good use for it. If I could get $50 for it I would get rid of it and never think twice. I have been an avid Ebonite fan but they lost me with this one....time for a Storm.

Fabulous! I stronly recommend this ball to anyone of moderate to high skill levels who wants a great ball for oily conditions. I am a 180 average bowler and pulled a 266 the first time I used this ball. I am sure I will be increasing my average significantly, and plan to use the Apex as the first ball in my arsenal. I also love the color of this ball and the way it looks going down the alley. A + to Ebonite for another great ball. I also have the Pearl Vortex for less oil and will post a review about it (another great ball).

LIKES: I love this ball, I just bought a used one for $40 and the thumb didn't even fit (getting it filled now) but it's drilled Apex #4 and it is polished and even without my thumb fitting very well this baby rocked, got robbed a few times in 4 games. DISLIKES: Sometimes has carry problems, a solid shot sometimes will leave a 7, 8, or 10, but nothing big I mean, sure it left single pins and sometimes a split here or there, but even witout my thumb fitting I managed to do very well. Great Ball, nice job Ebonite!!

I like the original things in life. I like the Real Texas Weiners, I like Original Coors, and I like the Original Apex. I love my Reflex but I can see why people say that it does not carry. This ball does hook alot, but it will leave some odd corner pins. I have learmed that if you want the greatest possible carry you have to keep the shot a little tighter. I cruise the ball across 20 to about 14 with plenty of heat and it clears everything off the deck very nicely. But for you crankers that absolutly must swing it, just back off the speed a little and there should be nothing standing. If you don't beleive me ask Jason Couch if the Reflex is a great ball. Now that is that. The "Original" Apex Reflex!!! Oh yeah, for all you tech junkies, the pin is at 1 o'clock stacked power down.

ive drilled 2 apex 's up ---- so many people luv them so i figured i would try one.. well the first i drilled up negative had the pin above the middle finger an polished it to about 2000... that ball just wouldnt carry -- the other one i purchased i had a 10:30 pin next to my ring finger an polished to about 1000... this ball was good on a medium oil - reacted good - hit descent just couldnt carry anything with this ball. for all the hype on this ball i did not think it was anything to brag about.

Factory finished Lane Condition-House shot that is flooded with snappy backends (mainly a lot of people through down and in) pattern goes to 38ft and buffed down to 42ft. This ball is so PIMP, as soon as it hits the lanes it grabs early, has a little skid thing going on for 25ft, and has a very very aggressive roll to the pocket. To keep this ball under control I have to stand around 30 hit the third arrow (15 board) and swing it to 5 board or I can kiss it good by. Definably need some oil out there for the Apex with some Surface. I had this ball polished about one month after I got it because it was a strong ball and I figured that maybe I could tone down the hook a little bit more, so polished it with ebonite factory polish, boy I knew it would take off some hook but not that much, I went from standing on board 30 to board 20 throwing at the 8 board and swinging it to 4 board and have a nice smooth roll to the pin deck, this ball was okay polished but not great, so i sanded it

It has been several months since I drilled this ball, when I laided this ball out, I put the pin outside my ringer finger and the bomb in the strong area. I threw this ball after second shift was finished and couldn't get the ball to stay in the pocket, it kept hooking brooklyn. I went to the desk and changed pairs and had the same problem. I waited till the next day and tried it on fresh oil, and it was still really strong. I was able to stand inside and wheel it out to around the 5 board and get it back no problem. The reaction that I had with this ball was long (about 40 to 45 feet) and a strong whipping backend. I think this ball is an 8, because it could fit in most league bowlers bags. The strokers will be able to move a little deeper and get a little better entry angle. Bowlers with a lot of hand will have to polished the ball and go with a more controlled drilling to handle the backend.
