When I bought this ball, I was bowling in a house with wood lanes that were always burned up. I had it drilled for that condition and to go long. I immediately got the results I was looking for. The ball went long, then turned hard toward the pocket. It carried very well. I didn't have to throw my other bowling balls as hard possible to keep it in the pocket. Now I could let the ball do the work, and it still does it very well. I have had it for three years, and it still works like new. 7/02/2003 Just threw my first 300 game with this ball on synthetic lanes with almost no oil. Still love it.

I would have to agree with Raynger27 this ball is great, just takes a little getting used to. I had a couple of 150 games with it but around about the 7th, 8th and 9th game I had a 714 series with it. I wasn't sure if it was the way it was drilled but just took some adjusting to figure out this ball with my style of throwing. At first I was trying to muscle the ball too much, and that ain't my style, I would get terrific pin action but had to hit my mark and accuracy suffers when I try to muscle it. Calmed my shot down and hit my mark and this ball was beautiful.

I owned a Columbia Blue Pulse previously and this ball hooks even more and works on even oilier lanes. At a house I never used to be able to throw a hook, I was able to get a sharp hook with the Messenger Ti Pearl. This seems to be a great ball, especially for the price. I recently purchased the Columbia 300 Stingray off of eBay for use on heavy oil synthetic lanes. Even though the Messenger seems to be able to get it done on most conditions so far, I would stick with it for dry to normal conditions. FYI- I bowl without my thumb and have a 174 average.

My ball has a 2 inch pin and is drilled with the pin just under the ring finger, with the CG kicked out to the right. This ball gets through the heads nice and clean and than attackts the backends with a vengence!!!! This is the best ball I have ever thrown. I have been able to throw it on any condition. When ever I am struggling I know I can pull out my Messenger/Ti, this is my go to ball. There is nothing bad I can say about this ball other than the fact it is...well UGLY!

At first I really really didn't like this ball cause it was a 4 pin machine. Then the initial polish wore off of it and I was playing more of a swing and wow its awesome. This ball is awesome as long as you can play it with speed. When I throw this ball slow for me (still pretty fast) I leave a lotta crap, 4 pins, 7 pins, 10 pins...and splits..It's a very good ball very consistant, but ya need some kinda speed or you won't carry. And I will add seven words now.

I have used this ball for a year and a half 2 -3 times a week if you can find the right lane conditions it is awesome. It has the perfect backend for a med oil med lenght shot. But if it is med long or just wet in general forget about it. I have a hard time get streaks of strikes when the lanes are broke down. One thing I found though is on long oily conditions if you move to the right and throw the second arrow and you throw it nice an easy you will still be ok. The only problem with that is you still get alot of 10 pins because there is very little angle to it. Then only reason I did not rate this a ten is because It drives me nuts on heavy oil. It has not been very often that I have found lanes to broke down to use this ball on. If you are a beginner bowler this is the perfect ball for you.

This ball puzzles me very much. Sometimes it can't miss at all but other times it is a total piece of crap. Lately it has been on an upside but others it acts as if it were a dead ball. This ball is a pocket magnet on medium oil conditions. This ball is drilled with the pin about 3 o clock an inch from my rin finger. It goes long and comes to the pocket hard and crushes the pins. Thank you for reading this review and i hope you pick the right ball. This is a good skid snap medium oil ball.<s

I have had problems generating consistant pin-action in my normal league house so i bought this baby and drilled it up to move at midlane to combat the carrydown on the left side during my tuesday night league (team of 5 190+ avgeraging lefties). the power that this ball can generate coming off the corner is amazing. For the first time ever in millhiem i've been able to generate consistant sweepers across the lane. Althought this drilling goes away from the strength of the ball it's definatly an option that anyone should evaluate to combat carrydown on a light to mid-oil shot. (P.S. - I appologize for my lack of spelling ability.

Many people at home always see people walk into a bowling alley with many bowling balls and ask them "why do you have to have so many bowling balls? Well the answer is that some lanes are going to be very dry and some are going to be very oily and some have dry backends and oilier heads. So it all depends on the shot. So if you are looking for that big hook ball for dry conditions, then you need to get the Messenger Ti to complete that Arsenal. For a hooking ball I have both the Ebonite Apex and the Icon 2.

This is a great ball for someone developing their game. I would recommend this ball for medium to light oil conditions and for those who like alot of back end. This ball is skid-snap on many lane conditions. But beware of heavy oil, in heavy oil this ball becomes all skid-no snap. You have to throw it like two miles an hour to get it to hook in heavily oiled lanes. I use this ball in combination with my Rock- On!, together they are a great team. The Rock on! is a much better ball though. For hevy oil i recommend this ball instead.

The ball is a great one if you stick with it. Can drastically change the way you bowl for the better but will be frustrating to say the least for a couple of games. I dropped down to a 14lb because of the need to have more control over the ball and wanted more snap into the pocket. This is the results... Before the ball my high was a 157. First time I bowled with the ball I rolled a 37. 15 games later I rolled a 223. Great ball on oil, but will leave you high and dry on Dry wood. <scri

Its a GOOD ball. Would recommend it for a intermidate bowler. Get it drilled to hook ALOT or you will have 100 headaches and want to get it redrilled or a new ball. If you have alot of oil at your house, do yourself a favor tell them to drill it to hook as much as it can. Because it STINKS when it doesn't hook in oily conditions WOW. This ball in VERY light oil or NO oil is great. With my Icon2 that tears a hole in oil its PERFECT combo. I always like to have a ball that crushes oil (icon 2, WAY better then 1) And a ball that you can keep on the lanes with NO oil (messenger ti) <s

Don't waste your money unless you are looking for a spare ball. I have never been a huge columbia fan and now I remember why. It just isn't forgiving in any way. If you pull the ball it goes right on the nose. If you get it too far outside it will die out there. I bowl with several guys that have tried to use this ball. Only one has had any luck with it and he is a low average bowler whose average has went up 10 pins all the way to 155.Just pack this one away and consider it a lesson learned.<sc

Columbia did good on this one. Awesome ball, great for light oil to heavy oil, Gets through heads good, hits real hard. Very predictible, great for people that does not throw a perfect shot every time. Would highly recommend. Works well on most all lane conditions. I use this ball 95% of the time. If this ball worked good on extreme dry conditions, when lanes begin to breakdown, it would be the perfect ball to use every single game. Ball works good sanded with scotch brite or polished, I use it mostly cleaned with soap and water.Hard to beat price.

I really like this ball. It goes down and simply ditroys the pins. I can miss my spot and the ball is very forgiving. However if i throw the ball to slow at all it curves too much and leaves me some nasty splits. If you stay consistant with your stroke and do not lighten up then goodbye pins and hello big scores. I also have not yet used any polishers or any type of hook improvement cleaners, so maybe on those games where i didnt throw hard enough and got some bad splits along with bad scores if i woul have had a good polish to get the ball down the lane then maybe that would have helped. But over all a great great ball.

this is the best ball ever.It was my first bowling abll and after the shock tramua and the columbia wicked and the vendetta particle this is the best one. This is by far the most enduring ball an it has been amazing.only reason this ball doesn't get a 10 because it tends to fly up on the head pin(hits high ) often.buy this ball and never give up on it. You might struggle a couple times but it will pull through.dont go and get it resurfaced it is perfect out of the box.cheap too!

Got this one drilled up to hook midlane, but it turns out it goes longer than expected. On my house shot, normal block, I can pull it in 3 boards and still have this thing slide an extra 10 feet, or push it out 3 boards and have it blow the 5 into the 7 repeatedly. It definitely is a good ball for beginners that are looking for carry on their house shots, but just don't use it on a condition you know it won't work for, such as the common flooded tournament shot..... Just, use you head and know to use this ball when the heads are dry enuf to give you the backend this ball has.

Overall, I give it a 10 out of 10. With this ball, I have seen people's scores, including my own, shoot through the roof. This ball hits with power and has led me to my high game in league. My brother uses the Reaction Rev, and we both hit the pocket with power. This, for me, tends to work best on dry or light oil conditions. The only draw back is on oily conditions (see above). This ball has brought success to at least seven people at my alley(including me). If you're looking for some power in the back-end this is for you(or the Reaction Rev).

If you throw the ball just right and do not break the wrist your going to mostly get strikes. I have only left the 10 pin a couple times and unlike my old TI I do not leave the 5 pin anymore. I even use this as both a spare ball and a strike ball. It will hook if you want and won't if you don't. Assuming you throw the ball the right way and do not break the wrist. So really, I wold not give up this ball for anything because of the hard hitting power it has at very low speeds.

Extremely versatile! I don't know who said this ball doesn't play well from the inside, but that is not true. Any person with some hand can get this ball moving. I can play anywhere on the lane with this one. Gets down the lane well, sniffs the dry and then wham!! Can leave a lot of 10 pins (as expected) when playing a deep line, but the only thing you can do about that is start working on the deflection!! I drilled mine as so: Pin 4.5 inches, 3 " from PAP, CG in my palm. 3/8 side, 3/4 finger. Great ball!!
