I've got a 16 lb ball, drilled with the ring finger cutting through the pin (part of the pin is slightly above the grip) the CG is about 2 inches from the pin, kicked out to the right about 1 inch. Its drilled to go a bit longer than the ball was originally made for. I got it to replace my ailing black and gold Messenger Titanium Pearl for when the lanes dry out a bit. Well did I get my money's worth! This ball goes a bit longer than normal due to the drilling. On anything but they heaviest of conditions, I can get the ball to make a really nice snap without using any energy getting down the lane. Hits hard and drives the pins. The ball is still in out of the box condition, and with just a bit of manipulation of hand position at release it can be used on all but the driest of conditions.

This ball was the first columbia ball I ever had, and on medium-light oil, it gets through the heads clean, and has a nice sharp backend motion. Ball is drill with 3" pin stacked over the ring finger. This layout, cut the backend down a little, but it still breaks hard. I scuffed it up a little to keep it from rolling out on me, and that worked great. Great additive to the throttle line, even though it's been out a while. The throttle line gives you a complete package to attack all lane conditions, and with the bully line now out, there are even more weapons at your disposal.

i recommend this ball for medium oil lanes only. it will not hook at all on oily lanes, and hooks too severely on dry lanes. i have had success with this ball on medium oil lanes, but other than that, i recommend leaving it in the bag. the ball does not react like typical pearl balls. it does not have the trademark skid snap, but more of an arch. this ball is hazardous on dry lanes. it is not forgiving in the least. if you miss your mark in by even a board, the results could be devestating. i will say that when you do find the pocket however, this thing hits like a ton of bricks. pins vanish from the pindeck in a flash, except for the stone 8 pins you will leave due to the fact that this ball comes in at an extremely severe entry angle. this ball maybe good for a stroker/tweeker, but for someone with a little bit of hand, its too unstable. this is not a versatile ball

Ok I bowl in a house they call "Lefty death". NOt the righties as long as lefties don't win they don't even know you are there or what the hell is going on in lefty land! I mean who cares right? Condition is rock hard Brunswick Pro anvil lanes with a light sprinkling of very thin and ready to change oil out to 40 feet. It turns out that the shot for lefties is a strange 10 to 6 or 10 to 4 swing. Don't bother two and oning it just hit right near 10 and swing almost to the gutter and if you don't fluff you may strike all day.! This ball sure can! Drilled 4 3/4 X 4..... 3.5 inch pin out has the pin about 1 inch above the ring finger. (Weak for me). I've been going to these drillings instead of pin next to ring to get more skid and travel in the midlanes where all balls drilled stronger have been reading hard and early in the midlanes. This ball though it acts like a softer pearl shell(one of the new 72 to 75 hardness balls)(but it is not it is listed at 75 to 78 hardne

ball is good, i like the color and feel for it, i must try it on all other lane conditions but overall i heard it was a good ball, i threw it b4 and it was like a revalation in my bowling style, didnt realize i had much of a hook until it broke like 20+ boards, good ball , i recommend getting it, hook rating is pretty good, but not so great on oily lanes so wouldnt recommend it for some one looking for a heavy oil ball. nothing much more to say considering i have to type 100 words to make this a legit remark

Overall.it is a strong strong ball. I used in a tournament with a decent amount of oil and scored well. Just wasnt consistent when the lanes broke down. It really worked well in the first game of a 6 game block. The second game I really had to start moving and by the time it had ended I was so tired from throwing the ball so hard, I had to change my game entirely and just start stroking a flipside shock too hold the lane. I lost all ball speed. I am a big fan of columbia however and I will never give a total bad review of the company. Just beware when buying this ball that it will go crazy on a broken down house shot. ANd during tournaments. In a more than 3 game block . Have a spare ball with you. Because you will be changing.

I am a normally 190-195 avg. Since buying this ball three months ago, I have rolled a 300 game, 732 series and 735 series. Pretty hard to dislike anything about that. Cant wait for the fall leagues to start back up!!! Great ball with good versatility. I can play the high hard up the boards shot, or open the lane up with this ball. Really outstanding. The ball will work well on league shots and in tournament conditions. Coumbia did a fantastic job with this one. Ball gets a great read on the lanes. When you find the sweet spot, this ball will hold the pocket and obliterate the pins!! The only downside is the ball will skid in heavy oil.

this ball really is great. this is starting to be the ball i bring out first because it is pretty versitile. i love how the ball bounces off of dry boards and hits like a truck. that seems to be its biggest strength. it never reall seems to lose energy, thats why its such a good ball. many times i have brought out an old ebonite ball from 94 called the omega and it would roll out when it hit the dry boards i was playing on.(My house is a brunswick, fricken lanes are as dry as the sahara desert) but this ball keeps rolling, and doest usually leave 10 pins. In fact i was bowling in this sport shot tournament and used this ball, it performed very well. but this ball is definitly not used for heavier oil, it doesnt seem to be made for that, but if you got a shot with a good amount of oil and dry backends, you got yourself a perfect ball. Another good bal from columbia!

The house I bowl in is typically drier then most other houses and I was in need of a ball like this. i have had this ball for a few months now and have had great success with it. I play arou d third arrow and stand against the ball return on my approach. Great carry in my house but I find problems carrying in other houses with it so usually I dont even bring it along any more when I travel. I have managed to shoot back to back 300's with it but it is still too shot specific. If your looking for a medium dry lane ball then this is the one to go for.

when i first got the ball, i was in love with it because my usual house is notorious for medium to dry lanes, hardly ever heavily oiled, so i was shooting the lights out with this ball, 4 consecutive 710+ series', i mean the ball could do no wrong, but, that fifth week, oil everywhere, and i never really threw it on oil that heavy, so to my surprise, absolutely no movement whatsoever, i am a cranker so i thought it would move atleast a litlle, but nada, thats when i bought the full throttle, an awesome moving ball, the throttle series is one that i would recomend to anyone.

I got a icon300 n so when i bowl league, i needed a ball which i could use for the lanes when they have burned up, so i went to the proshop and asked for advice and in the end, i got this ball. i had the pin drilled under my ring finger n it works great for me if i throw it correctly, but occasionally, i do leave some 7s(im a lefty) but it was much lesser then when i used a icon2.this ball is great for strokers and i recommend it to any columbia300 fans out there

this ball was drilled like my throttle pin next to the ring finger and cg kicked out. i played all over the lane and this ball also could not find the hole. i will say this its a good ball for the 10 pin to bad it cost to much for a spare ball. didn't move on mid oil with a good back end. what kind of ball does that. this ball didn't pick up the roll till it was to late. on a drill like this and lane condition like that and cranker behind the ball this thing should have move the sec i put it down on the lane.

When I first got this ball I had my doubts. So I got it drilled for maxium backend so that it could flip when gets towards the end. Then I took it and tried it out I couldn't believe the backend on this ball. No matter what I would do I couldn't keep this ball out of the pocket. But when the lanes dried up it overhooked and left a lot of splits. So I suggest putting this ball away after you notice the ball overhooking. Also watchout if the lane you are bowling on has a lot of carry down then there will be less backend.

The throttle R is a ball i just punched up.. i needed a ball for dry lanes that will give me some hit on the back. I drilled the Throttle R up a bit negative - pin is under the middle finger an cg under the ring.. this ball gets super length an doesnt over react but a nice even arc in the backend! i have an axis at about 7" out from my cg! I enjoy how this ball saves its energy very nicely til the last 12 ft of the lane.. this ball also hits very hard an does exactly what i need it to do. Length an HIT.. i would actually compare this ball to a freak out with not as much on the back!!

I BOUGHT THIS BALL AND HAD IT DRILLED NEGATIVE TRYING TO GET A LATER REACTION OUT OF IT, BUT THAT WASN'T EVER THE PROBLEM WITH THIS BALL.... GETTING THE SAME REACTION HOWEVER WAS! I RARELY GOT IT TO REACT THE SAME WAY TWICE AND JUST ENDED UP LOST AT THE END OF THE NIGHT. DON'T LET ANYONE TELL YOU THIS BALL IS FOR DRY LANES EITHER BECAUSE IT IS NOT! I CAN'T SEE ANYONE HAVING A PROBLEM GETTING IT THERE IN A HURRY. I HAVE READ A FEW REVIEWS THAT SAY THIS BALL IS FOR DRY LANES AND I WOULD HAVE TO HIGHLY DISAGREE. IT DOES REV UP NICE AND GETS THROUGH THE HEADS WELL BUT WATCH THAT BACK END. GOOD LUCK IF YOU BUY THIS OVER-PRICED BOAT ANCHOR I YOU JUST HAVE TO HAVE ONE I SUGGEST TRYING TO FIND IT ON EBAY AND I WOULDN'T PAY MORE THAN ABOUT $40 0R $50 FOR IT

This ball is a great ball, it works well on a large variety of conditions. I have only used it for about 15 games and have so far averaged about 220 with it. The ball works great on medium to dry conditions, but will also work on oily conditions, and somewhat on dry conditions. I have found that if it is too oily the ball tends to not react very well and leaves a lot of 10 pins or other single pins from the lack of reving up due to heavy oil. I would definiately recommend this ball to anyone who bowls on a standard leage type conditions. On dry or Sport Conditions it tends to hook a little early and not want to carry down the lane. OVerall this ball is awesome out of the box.

There are very few balls I can say that I really dislike. Some don't work for me, but I can see how they work for others and, under certain circumstances, I can make work. This is one of the exceptions. I cannot imagine a bowler who cannot find a piece of equipment that is allegedly for the same conditions that would not work better. Ah, but to the review. 1. Length. This ball goes long. In fact, it seems to have a mind of its own -- it has a specific distance it wants to go on any kind of oil. So, it gets through the heads and midlane fine. 2. Flip. Well, despite what you may have read, this one doesn't. The coverstock is designed to lengthen the breakpoint. It does. It isn't a breakpoint, its a breakcrag, nee, a break peninsula. You see the core rev'ving up, but the ball lopes into its move. Fact is, the only way to get this sucker to flip is to put it back in the box and let'er rip. Maybe, for the heavy handed or light-handed with slow speed this one will tur

After watching this ball how hard it crush the pins y decided to give it a chance on buy one for me. I drilled 3 inches from PAP, with cg parallel to the right of thumb hole and pin at fingers heigth, this gives me a very agressive recation. The balls rolls great and when it touches the backend it gets furius against the pins. The ball works great on medium oil, it has tremendous hitting power. It´s always nice to see how this ball crushes the pins. I like this ball an recomend it. I´m planning to buy a throttle-UP to compliment my arsenal.

I was trying out a new proshop intown and I think he drilled wrong. otherwise the ball hits hard. but the thing does not hook. if you have a little bit of hook I would not reccomend thisball goes pretty much straight. even after you sand it it gets a little more hook but still not enough. its backend reaction is the slowest Ive ever seen. if you bowl straight it a good hard hitting ball but not for a stroker or cranker. some time when it hit the backend it just stopped and died barely even got 3 pins my first time to use it. my average is 206 but with this ball its 140

Well, as I've mentioned before I'm not a Columbia fan by any means but my friend and I switch equipment now and then. He has had some big scores with this ball so I made an attempt with it. I didn't score any different or get anything different from this piece than I did using my Crimson Ex. So I gave him the ball back and told him he wasted his hard earned money on this thing. The only thing I liked about this ball was putting back in the bag. How do they expect me to write 100 words about a P.O.S.

For those who care about such things the color is super. Now for ball reaction. This ball get good length and makes a predictable move to the pocket. No skid/snap as with most of my resin equipment. I have drilled two so far and both perform wonderfully. No disappointments with this ball. Like I said no skid/snap for a resin ball - just as advertised - I just didn't believe it until I threw it. Just as adverstised. Does not get skiddished or over/under like some resins. This ball hits the light pocket and carries very well. Of course depending on how late it breaks and the angle you can leave some corner pins. Not the balls fault just the wrong angle. Great ball on fresh conditions and then put away through the transition period. When the heads break down you can bring it out again. Clears the heads well, pushes down the midlane, and makes a powerful move to the pocket. No dissapoinments!

Just bought this ball yesterday and tried it for the first time this afternoon. Had it drilled with a small side hole. When the back ends are dry, this ball goes quite long and makes a very strong , but steady, move to the pocket. Reacts very similarly with moderate or fast ball speed. I can't wait to try the Throttle-R this September in my winter leagues. Great looking ball. Hits the pins extremely hard - no tens pins were standing on pocket or light pocket hits. I have had three 700+ plus series this past year and would like to get more of them this year and maybe even my first 800+ series. For oily lanes, I still use my Icon 300, with a dull finish. In my opinion, Columbia makes the best bowling balls.
