like i said before, i originaly bought it for heavier oil and i loved it, it carried like crazy. No matter how far out i threw it, it always came back. I heard rumors the ball dies after like 30 games but i clean/wipe my ball after every shot i throw plus with periodic rejuvinations i got it to last for about 200 games as my heavier oil ball but after that it just wasn't worth the maintainance to keep it hooking so i just let the oil build up and plus i shined it up, so its now my straight up ball and i still love it.

I've had this ball for three seasons now and it is still the first ball I go to on league night. The Throttle hits hard, but will carry a lot of slop light hits. I can play a variety of shots and it will sit where ever I put it. Unless you really fire this ball, keep it out of the dry part of the lane or it will be in the brooklyn pocket all night. My only problem with this ball is that we have older lanes and occasionally you'll catch a nail head in the pit, which has happened to this ball four times. All of the spots are in the same area, one below each finger hole, the other two are right on the edge of the track, but they don't affect the performance.

I'll repost after I've put more games on it. A little soon to really review with accuracy. I'm not impressed yet but have had balls in the past that "came alive" after a break-in period. I certainly hope that's what it needs. Dry conditions resulted in odd behavior. Heavy oil resulted in no behavior. Light to medium oil brought better pocket shots (and it does hit hard and carries well), but it hasn't thrilled me yet. If I'd paid full retail at release time I'd be upset with the investment. New in box, shipped, drilled with tips and slug, has me for around $90. Again, I hope it comes around pretty soon. Will get back to this posting.

The ball was the best thing that has ever happened to me out of the box. I couldnt miss. Throw it left and it would go flat into the pocket. The wider I threw it the harder it returned to the pocket, it was hard to miss really. First week with the ball I rolled a 279, personal best, and never dropped below 180 (avg of 170 at the time) It also doesnt snap too harsh, which I find great, strong arc that just never ends, looks like its gonna kill the techies behind the lanes. It actually appears to GAIN speed when rolling onto the backend and hence gives massive hit. Based on its out of box condition its a 10/10 but it only gets half marks because despite its magical nature it dies faster than a mosquito trying to suck my blood. It was great for about 2 months..... then it just started to slowly loose its hook. Following the hook the power died and eventually my old Turbo-X (age: 10 yrs) started to hook more than the throttle! The throttle has now found a new place in my bag... polished

Not a very good ball, im switching back over to hammer, and my old track struff. im not gonna waste my money on a ball thats gonna die. It did come back to life after it was resurffaced. i throw roughly 20 miles an hour with a lot of revs, and the ball just doesnt move. My heat 2 pearl is my favorite ball thats made to skid snap and its made for heavy oil. when this ball died my heat 2 hooked more...not a good investment...i bowl at an old house with no carry so once the ball lost its drive through the pocket it was un useable becasue of the pocket splits and what not that i day after day left, and keep it dull...

I bought this ball in September and thought it was the greatest. Originally gave this ball a 10. Over time though it just seemed to move less and less. What used to annihilate the pocket now barely grazed the head pin. Put in new inserts and resurfaced it to make it more dull and it did very little to improve. I sold it for $75 and don't miss it at all. Don't know if it happened to anyone else but this ball died quickly. Since I don't have enough words my best series with the ball was 743 and high game was 279. I've already eclipsed both of those with my Hot Rod and Ultimate Inferno so I still don't miss this ball.

I got this ball a few months ago as a fairly new bowler with a 120 average. After bowling with this ball once I started carrying more pins and increased to a 150 average bowler. I love everything about this ball. It hits hard, hasnt died out, and looks exactly like the picture. The ball is not for dry lanes as it can have some major hook to it. I recommend for anyone trying to find a great medium- heavy oil ball. Columbia did a fantastic job when creating this ball. I cant wait to see if they can top this ball! Everyone should carry one of these!

Columbia has a hit, with the Throttle series!!! This is one of Columba's best line of balls that they come out with in a while. Both of them, the Throttle and the Full Throttle are great balls. The Cam Shaft and the Triple flip block are two of the parts, that make this a very hard hitting ball. Also along with a low R/G The only one that is not talked about is the Throttle / R. I will be getting the Full Throttle soon. I will start bowling in tournaments next month. Looking forward to using then there. This is my first Ball review. I will be reviewing more balls in the months to come.<scr

I usually use only Storm products, but this ball has changed my thoughts about Columbia 300!! This ball has amazing accuracy and power! Also, If I throw it too far out, it responds and rockets back to the pocket with devastating power. Every once-in-a-while, if I throw it too tight, I will leave a 10 pin, but other than that, its a great ball to have. I always shoot good 200 games and this ball rarely leaves any had spares to be converted, unless I throw it WAY too wide, then it can't make it all the way back. If you are looking for a ball with great hook potential and power and accuracy, then get this ball. Also, check out my review on the Fear Factor!!

i bought my Throttle back in November 2003, upon purchase i wasnt 100% convinced about the ball due to previous problems with the Columbia brand. However, i was pleasantly surprised with the GREAT value for money this time around. The ball itself is a 'pat on the back' to the production team! I am a left-handed bowler in Germany, where we bowl mostly on plastic lanes with medium-heavy oil conditions. I can set out my ball on the second arrow, pushing the ball past the first and i always know it will come back when it hits the backend. On a positive back up, if im inaccurate and pull my ball, then it will slide through the oil and hold for pocket hits. This is a great ball for bowlers who suffer from their balls dying out during tournaments... this ball is like the Energizer bunny...it keeps going and going and going....

drilled this one 3.3/8 stacked w/ slight neg static... very good when have heavy head oil, even if there is a little more oil right (rt hander), as most balls, requires reasonably good shots, also works well with carrydown... I have med axis rot, med tilt, & med speed. This ball for most, I think would be their #1 or #2 oil ball in their bag if were to choose Columbia. If you throw this ball good, it carry's very well, not very forgiving for poorly thrown shots... anything flat off your hand is a weak 10 for sure, but true with most balls.

heaviy oil ball, yea right i wouldn't call this thing a mid oil ball. it hits like a girl hooks like a spare ball. i drilled it pin next to the ring finger, cg kicked out for a early movement. not on this ball on a easy house shot this thing couldn't find the pocked with a seeing eye dog. and i know it was not he because went to a columbia rock star drilled the same and it worked like a champ. its because of the throttle and throttle/r that i any switching all my stuff over to storm. untill columbia can put out a ball worth my time.

A great ball. Some reviews say that it tends to over hook but if it doesn't for me a 14 m.p.h bowler with 225 r.p.m than it shouldn't for others. Keep it how it is out of box. Not a good first reactive because for a new bowler it might over hook. People say it is not good for a kid but I am 12 and I love this ball. I would recomend drilling it to go long and snap hard because it should still react a lot and it hits very hard. Even with it drilled this way I can stand on 19 throw it to one and hook it back for the 7 pin. Sometimes leaves the 10 but most of the time it is a heavy hooking, hard hitting, power house.

I recommend this ball to everyone who needs power and hook on their bowling game. What I like about this ball is that you can play inside while you have it "like new" polished. There are times that I put my polished Throttle a little far out and will still hook toward the pocket with a strike or a pin left standing. I shot 547, 550, 518, and 558 with it while next year I'll shoot 600-700's with this ball. My ball came with an "out of the box" condition and decided to polish it up to build more length and backend to my game.Don't get this ball drilled too aggressive otherwise it will hook like an arc with an early reaction It's like it can't do what it needs to do to hook it you get it drilled wrong.

The ball is the best ball out there today. The coverstock is brilliant and the hit reminds me of the Phenom Unleashed or the original Phenom. If it hits the pocket then the pins will be in the back in a matter of seconds. The ball hooks a ton and no matter if it is dull or polished the performance will leave you speechless. The ball has an unmatched hit. The ball will be forgiving on either side that you bowl on. You need to bowl a few games with it when you open bowl to get the feel of the ball at your house, when you get the feel of it you will have some good scores. In league when I bowled with it my scores were 190, 182 and 212 when I first got it. Buy this ball and you will be pleasantly surprised.

this ball is forgiving, it carrys the 7 pin and it goes stright when i want it 2, to pick up those 7 pins it leaves some times. this ball hooks a lot i used it when there was tons of oil on the lane and it would hook just as much as when there wasnt that much oil. but i tried it when it was bone dry and i would not advise anay1 in there right mind ever to use this ball on dry lanes. if your house doesnt feel like buying oil i would tell u not to buy this ball, but if your house has the money to spend on a lot of oil its one of the best balls you can buy. and its not like the icon 2 the ball will last for more then 3 weeks

It will be hard to put this ball down. It will allow straighter players to get more angle without leaving a lot of corners. and for guys that can really hook it the bad shots even strike. hardly seems fair does it? This is one of those balls that everyone should own if you bowl on oily conditions, or if you just need more hooking power. can we say (hook it , hook it , hook it, and hook it some more?) I really don't know what else to say about this ball exept get you one today. I must next try the throttle R. If it's anything like the Throttle, it has to be a winner.

If you have no revs and throw the ball 100mph. then this ball is for you. I have a really hard hand but throw it pretty hard also. Who is this ball made for? I would shoot the ten pin, it would come back and go right through the head pin. This ball is nasty. What a crazy color scheme also. It looks like the designers at Columbia goofed on this one. I know 5 people who threw the ball, all think that the ball hooks unbelievably. The ball just randomly changes direction as if GPS is hooked up to it. A good ball for lanes that are flooded.

THIS BALL IS GOOD FOR ANY TYPE OF BOWLER. IF YOU DON'T THROW THE BALL FAST AND YOU DON'T HAVE A VERY HIGH REV RATE THEN YOU CAN USE THIS BALL AND IT WOULD TOO WORK WONDERS WITH U TOO. I HAVE A VERY HIGH REV RATE AND WHEN THE LANES AT MY BOWLING ALLEY ARE DRY, PUT THIS BALL IN YOUR BAG OR POLISH IT TO MAKE THE BALL LENGTHEN MORE THEN HOOK AT THE END. THIS BOWLING BALL HAS A GOOD AMOUNT OF BACKEND AND CURVE TO IT. U CAN STAND AND THROW THE BALL ON THE THIRD ARROW ON THE LEFT AND THE BALL WILL CURVE BACK TO THE POCKET AND I WAS AMAZED AT HOW THE BALL COULD DO THAT AND WAS OVERWHELMED AT IT. SO IF U WANT A BALL THAT WILL CURVE WHEN YOUR OTHER BOWLING BALLS WON'T, TAKE OUT THIS BALL AND THE COMPETITION WOULDN'T KNOW WHAT HIT THEM. GOOD LUCK GOOD BOWLERS.

Most house here are heavy oil house and the first game always killed my series because I could not get it to drive hard in the pocket. After purchasing this ball I have no problems jamming the pocket. It does leave some solid 10 pins, but I'll take that when I hit light or heavy and it carries for strikes. I usually switch to my Storm Reloaded after the first game or sometimes in the middle of the second game because the lanes start to dry and the Throttle can be to radical on drier lanes. The ball loves oil and oil on the lanes is what you need.

I used to love this ball. I got it last September and used this ball tons. Almost refused to throw anything else. That is before is became very squirty and inconsistent. Can't do anything right with this ball anymore. My Hot Rod by Storm is hooking more than this ball which isn't a good sign. Leaves tons of weak 10 pins because it's lost all it's energy. The light mixers don't carry either. I'm disappointed because this ball used to be my favorite. Time to pick up the Ultimate Inferno. Repeat, this ball is dead. Don't know if the core is whacked out or if the coverstock is all wrong, but it sucks now. Truly a sad day.

I just bowled my first 811 and my first 300 with this ball. I polished the ball and now it gets down the lane better before making a nice controlled roll into the pocket and destroying all the pins. I have to up my rating on this ball since I never thought I would achieve an 800 series. I've never thrown a ball this aggressive in my life. Unfortunately the lanes were on the dry side. I stood all the way left and shot for my ten pin and the ball hooked back strong and then rolled hard into the pocket. This wasn't a fair test but I would guess this ball would be great on flooded lanes. My Freak and Eliminator seemed like spare balls next to this hook monster. I took the ball home and put it in the spinner and brought it up to a 2000 grit polish - the out of box finish will not be useful unless someone opens the flood gates. I have league tomorrow so we'll see how it rolls. I'm averaging 218 on that league so if the conditions aren't right I will have to wait to test it. This

We have drilled a couple cases of these balls for a variety of our pro shop customers, and these balls flat out rev up and hook. Two stroker style bowlers bowl on a condition with 48 foot of oil and very heavy across the whole lane. The bowlers with the Throttle were able to get the ball to make a turn when everyone else was going much straighter. We found the ball to get down the lane further than most super aggressive particle balls and give more backend than expected. I think that this is the most aggressive Columbia ball to date, and will out hook almost anything on the market right now. Any questions, please email me.<scrip
