Columbia 300 Icon 2 Bowling Ball

Ball was great. I am a 210 average bowler. First set with the ball 691. Next set 771. I have shot 2 300's with the ball. The ball also hits hard. When there is carry down the ball still bites thru it for me. I throw the ball hard and it covers a lot of boards. I would recommend this ball to someone who can control a big hooking ball on medium oil. The only problem I have found sometimes it works on heavy oil and other times it does not. On my second 300, the lanes were soaked. I was playing pretty much straight up ten and letting it get to the back end and go in. I shot 787 that night

I got this ball from a league I bowled over the summer, every participant got a free bowling ball at the end, and it was suggested from a highy respected individual who carries a PBA card. Great ball for consistant hits on low to medium oiled lanes, I would say if you get the chance to find this ball brand new, go for it. However, if you throw on normally heavily oiled lanes, I recommend you stay away from this ball, because it will disappoint. I dont recommend this to pick up corner pin spares, no matter how hard I try to flatten it out for the 7, it always takes off at the end. I give this ball a 10 in any review, it has pulled my average from 173 to 203.

one of the most impressive balls that i have ever thrown the ball hits with power and then some. if you hit the pocket be prepared to see 8 pins and 9 pins stand up on you because that ball does not deflect and drives right through the pocket. i usually play the 3rd arrow and take it out to about the 10th board or less at the break point and the ball will hold the inside line if you pull it and if you mess up and take it out too far it will come back with ease. the ball wont over react when it is in medium lanes but if you throw it in oily lanes the ball will just slide too far and ski past its break point. if your looking for a strong resin ball for a decent price id choose this one.<sc

Got this ball hoping it would be stronger in carry down than my Brunswick Puple Fuze. It is, but although this ball was intended by Columbia to have greater length than the original ICON, it is not long enough in light to medium-light oil. It's a confusing ball because it does not like heavy oil, and in medium oil can be twitchy. Seems to be very sensitive to small speed variations, and can easily overreact. Never felt comfortable with this ball consistently. When it was good, it was real good, reacting continously and strong, with ridiculously good carry, but appears to have a very narrow range of conditions that it likes.

This ball is worth every penny, and it is truly one of the best balls to ever hit the market from them. The Muscle coverstock adds a ton of finishing power into a ball that has a really, really, really strong backend. I have a ton of revs on the ball, and i use it on a heavy oil surface, and it still will rev up. The ball sometimes is a bit shot touchy, and will get a little wishy washy on the lanes occasionally when they are wet, but again, it all depends on how the bowler delivers and lifts the ball. The first time i used the ball, the results were remarkable, 208, 235, and 219. Meant for medium conditions, but can be used on all conditions.

Excellent ball and too bad it is discontinued. Good roll and an excellent backend to the pocket. Doesn't matter if you throw a big hook or a nice roll, ball reacts as it should. The only time this ball is not any good is if the lanes are dry. Of course, this ball was not made for dry lanes. I would recommend this ball to anyone that wants a ball to move down the lane and then take a hard turn to the pocket. If you want a serious high performance ball and want to improve your average, roll an Icon 2 a few times and see the results. I sure hope Columbia 300 comes up with a new ball as good as this one to replace the Icon 2.

drilled this one 3.3/8 stacked, maybe would not be so touchy if had laid the core down a little, also has medium static, left box surface... mainly on a tapered house shot, when thrown well, it is a mac truck... the problem is that it is not very forgiving on 'off' shots, unless you have dryer to right, and oilier to left. (rt hander)... so if your on a sport shot, or a tougher shot, unless your VERY consistant on your delivery, put this one away. I throw med rev rate, med tilt, med axis, med speed. My first tourny with this ball, I ave 240 + on a walled shot, lead the field... the next tourny I used it on, 150's out of the gate on a sport shot, in the bag it went.<scrip

This ball is wort every bit of the 205 that I spent. I will have to say that if you are a beginner, don't buy this ball, it will hook way to hard or you. It hits really hard. The only part about ths ball that I don't like is that if you don't hit the pocket just right, you will leave a ten pin. One of the most dredded of them all. Also, don't get it drilled stack leverage, It hooks wayto hard when you get it done that way. Stay away from dry lanes, the icon2 will make you so mad, it looks like its gonna hit the pocket but at the last second, it breaks hard and hits dead on the head pin. But all in all, I give this ball a nine and two thumbs up to columbia 300.

AS A LEFTY BOWLER IT SEEMS HARD TO FIND A BALL THAT WORKS AND STAYS PUT ON THE LEFT SIDE OF THE LANE.THIS BALL DOES THAT THROUGH 3 GAMES. THE HOLD IS INCREDIABLE. IT HOOKS RIGHT ON POINT AT THE BACK END. IT DOESNT OVER REACT AT ALL. JUST MAINTAIN YOUR SPEED AND YOU WILL BE OK WITH THIS BALL. I HAVE JUST RECOVERED FROM AN KNEE INJURY AND NEEDED A BALL THAT I WOULD NOT HAVE TO WORK TO HARD. I PLAY MOST OF THE TIME OUTSIDE OF 5. BALL IS DRILLED TO GO LONG AND HOOK HARD AT THE BACK END. Anyway I got this ball in February and up to then I had about a 175 avg. Week 1 in the new league I rolled a 748 scratch 3 game series and kept a 202 average for the whole league. I've never had a ball that changed my game so much. I had a Ebonite Apex Adrenaline 15lb but found I could not control it so got the Icom 2 16lb and what a differance. I'm looking at getting a new ball soon too as I'm not really sure how much life I should expect from a ball like this. I bowl in 2 leagues aroudn 6 games weekly and don't practice too much Advice anyone ???

NOT for beginners, but if you've only got room in your bag for one ball, this is it. Throw it right and it hits like a ton of bricks. I've used this ball on a variety of lane conditions and the only time I'va had a hard time controlling it was on very dry lanes - I have to chuck it hard for a strike and almost drop it on my foot for a 10 pin if the lanes are real dry. The ball has remained consistant for the 7 months I have had it and doesn't seem to have lost any of it's hitting power. Bowled it on synthetic lanes the other day and it just tore them up - 703 series, only the 3rd one I've shot.

I am a left handed player with about 17 mph ball speed and decent revs. I had my icon2 drilled same as my Icon with the pin about half an inch left of my ring finger and the Cg in my palm. I threw this ball mostly on a 41" house shot good amount of oil. The Icon2 gets through the fronts nicely and makes a pronownced backend move to the pocket, leaving more 8's and 9's then 7's. This is a very good ball for the "cranker" type players who like to "circle" the lane but remember not to drill this one too strong because this ball doesnt need much help. All in all the Icon and the Icon2 are a great two ball arsenal, if you like the Icon I would recommend picking this one up. On and Edit: There have been many people (with many different styles) shooting great with this ball since it came out.

The ball is one of the nicest looking balls that columbia has put out on the market yet. Compared to the other three icons though it doesnt even hook half as much. Everyone told me that that would be a great ball to get for my game (stroker) and that it would hook so much for me. Turns out that it diddnt, so I keep it in my bag just in case the lanes are super dry, like on our morning shot it is a great ball with amazing carry and a back end reaction that just never stops. The ball tends to like to leave ten pins and seven pins though.

Overall I was very disappointed with this ball. Have really got out and tried to work with it. Usually if a bowling ball has to be really worked with, shined, scuffed and have a lot of surface changes to work for you. You might not have the right ball in your hand. That is kind of my review of this ball. As I have probably 6-8 different Columbia balls, you can see that they are a first choice for me. Been out to try this ball on synthetic, good wood lanes and on burnt up lanes with the option of changing the surface of the ball at all three houses. Never really got the reaction or the hit I wanted out of the ball. After trying it quite a bit I spoke with my ball driller and he said that he was getting some of the same feedback from other bowlers he has drilled these for. Oh well, you can't make a winner with every ball you drill. That is not saying that someone with a lot of hand can't make this ball react for them. I would not reccomend this ball to anyone that is rotationally chall

This ball had what i wanted. Got it drilled to go long and snap hard in the backend, it does that just right. I suggest using it on oily lanes. Ball will be out of control when lanes are dry(switched to my messenger titanium when it dryed up). WIll strike when it hits the pocket.. Didnt leave many 10 pins with it, not that i remember at least.. I suggest this ball for any advanced bowler.. I also really like the Muscle coverstock, Columbia 300 did a good job on this! I cant imagine what the Icon 300 must be able to do. I also bowled one 300 with it(keep in mind im 14).

I would recommend this ball that is looking to add a little power or a little more hook to their game. It creates good pin action so that it carries the pocket more often than other balls. The back-end reaction is outstanding, if anyone is looking for a ball with more backend hook, this is the ball for you. I really like the muscle cover stock that columbia put on this ball. I had been using ebonite up until i got this ball..and now i think im going to stick with columbia, this ball is a sure win

this is a very good ball. it is my 3 ball of columbia 300. i am a fan of this because of the riccohet, my favourite first ball. i play in germany and on league play we often does not have enough oil for the icon 2. i want to play the icon on the outside, but often there is no oil and so it turns left when it is on the lane and it may gutter in the left. my favourite ball for dry conditions is the storm bolt. one thing at the end, it was difficult for me to do a review for a ball and i hope it will be right now

I would recommend this ball to the normal league bowler who does not have much hand and throws the ball slow to much hand and this ball does not work . I like the muscle stok on the icon one better then the icon 2 the first one rls hard withnot much arch and carries the pocket very well this ball carries the pocket and you ill leave outrageous leaves when your flush barried. i cant blame everything on the ball even tho i carried 220 easily with the icon 1 and merely 190 with the icon 2 maybe its m maybe it is just this ball

If you like leaving 4 pins, 10 pins, and not being able to blow out 7 pins, this is the ball for you. I had this ball drilled up to go long and hook hard, and it does that well. And it's easy to spot on the rack because I was the first in my house to buy it and everyone else learned from my mistake! It's my opinion that Columbia knew this ball was a dud--why else would they rush the ICON 300 out barely two months after the debut of the ICON2? And have you seen any pro use it on t.v.? Of course not. Take my advice, if you are looking for another ball, look elsewhere.

Bought this ball 2 weeks ago....have a total of 9 games on it. The last 3 produced my first 800+ sereies (300,269, and 245). Normally i threw up second arrow but changed to third with more wrist cup and it was (BAM) like the ball came alive. Before that i struggled cause the ball was too strong up 2nd. Pretty versitale the way its drilled (pin high). I can flatten my wrist some and still clean up the 10's and 6's i sometimes mess up and leave. Take this ball just about anywhere to try and clean house.

The best ball I've ever owned, bar none. My typical game is down the ten board and I can play any part of the lane I want with this ball. Most conistent hooking ball I've seen since the Rhino's. Doesn't have a huge flare, but what it does have is easy to control. Carries a lot of slop hits that would be splits or single pin spares. Tough hitting ball that gives a good mix on light hits. Spare shooting can be tricky if you're not paying attention. Does leave the occasional nine pin. Pick yours up today, the cost is worth it.

Very nice still a very good looking balls probabaly the best looking ever a little too much money still. overall I would rate it a 9 because it only like certian lanes I know I'm thinking about trying something else but I would say I have shot my fair share of 700's with this balls and it works when other balls aren't. Oh ya I shot my first 300 on feb. 9 03 and I'm 15 looking to go to nationals in the pepsi cola tournament. I'm in the scratch division qailfied first in my city with 691.

this ball is one of the best rolling balls i have ever owned. I have it drilled for more length with medium to strong backend, first time i bowled with it was on a heavier oil pattern and i was able to move to about 10 with my feet and throw it up about 7 board, as long as i didnt miss right i struck, if i missed right at all or threw it a little fast because of its length i left a flat 10. However, any hit that was light on a good shot destroyed the pins. Good for me because my average speed is 17-18 mph, and this ball still makes the turn late and hits like a bus, get some!
