It is not the oil coming out of the ball. I too had this problem. Columbia put too much plasticiser in the ball. That is what is coming out. I called Columbia and this is what they told me to do. Put the ball in hot tap water and let soak for about 45 minutes. While it is soaking, use regular dishing washing liquid and hand rub it over the ball. I did this and my ball was restored to its original ugly color but the ball works great. I have much more hook and consistency then when I first purchased the ball. One note, you can tell it is the plasticiser coming out of the ball when it is soaking in water because of the gooey texture.<sc

Honestly this ball was amazing, Like nothing I have ever thrown before, I had a phenom for heavy oil or sport shot and the ball is dead and hooks only 5 boards less than it did new. This EPX hooks 8+ more boards than the phenom new, This ball when I throw it I have a hard time keeping it on the left side of the lane because it has so much midlane friction. I had my ball drilled according to my speed. This Ball if it was drilled any stronger then the ball would not get far enough down the lane. This ball gets about 30 feet and starts to pick up midlane friction really fast. So my suggestion to you from my personal experience and other I know who have this ball, get this ball drilled as strong as you possibly can because then the full strength of this beast really comes out. Good luck!

Could be a much better ball with logos and lettering positioned away from and off track flare for maximum ball surface to lane. Otherwise bounces around lettering for left-handers with no chance for recovery on heavy oil. Lotts'a hype during testing. Good spare ball in heavy. Good on med. conditions where length from letter bouncing is could be a good thing. Excellent ball for right handers where surface friction is probably 95% off the letters. Plan on majorly resurfacing all logos off ball soon to reap some benefits from the hype. Right now Track Gp2 has better recovery. Sanded logos off same reason as above.

Long time, first time in the columbia world.. I may sound like others when I made the decision to drill up this ball compared to a Track Delta 1. Specs on the Ball - 15 pounds 4oz with 3 1/2 top with a 2 inch pin. Reason on drilling the ball was to have something stronger in my bag for med. to heavy lane conditions and my Rpi regional in Austin with the 42 feet pattern. My Profile has my info on how I throw the ball. Layout on the ball is a 3 3/8 by 3 3/8 with a weight hole .5 inch above my PAP. Ball is left at factory finish. First impressions - Bowling at the famed Astro Bowl( Old wood with a Burned Track at 10) .. I stood 34 with my feet and hit 23 with the ball rolling to 13 at 40 feet and making a sharp recovery to the pocket. After about 12 - 15 shots hitting the pocket, I moved my feet to the right at tried to stand 23 and hit 17. As I suspected as did my ball driller, the ball pinged a 10 pin and We ( mostly the ball driller ) said it was burning up. Ove

Right out of the box, the ball has an awesome display of new technology. Kudos to Columbia 300! Nice continuation unlike any other ball that has been put out in the market. A couple of times I lose the ball to the extreme right and the ball recovers very nicely. Usually if that occurs, the ten pin likes to stand up and salute, but not with the EPX!! Just Beautiful! The carry-ability is far more advanced than anything out there to date. Unfotunately, when the colors changes, so can the ball reaction. This is a high maintenance ball, just like a high maintenance girlfriend, it's aggrevating to deal with but so much fun to play with. As to anything thats new, there are going to be flaws, so I'm sure in the next coming months, the new bowling ball coverstocks will only get better.<scrip

This is a follow up on my previous review.... I have my drilled up as a Rev and speed mactch up (MAT). This ball is drilled for a more moderate (more control) hook, if i want it to the extreme all i have to do is add a weight hole but it wasnt necessary. I have about 15-20 games on it. And like the add says it changed color from a light patchy purple to a more solid dark purple. This had little or no affect on the ball, the ball still out hooks my Full Throttle by a long shot. It does go just a little bit further down the lane before it makes its turn than when i first bought this ball, which i find more as a plus cause i am getting more pin action which equals more strikes. I stand around 20 and swing it out to around 5 and let it come firing back to the pocket, if u get it out to soon u are going across the head pin. I had a chance to bowl on wood lanes last week and it was rt after the league on wed. Night. And still experimenting i wanted to see what this ball could do

I am writing this review for my father. I bought him this ball yesterday for the beginning of winter league, and wow what a difference. He was bowling with an Ultimate Inferno, and I thought that was an impressive ball, but the EPX blows the Ultimate Inferno out of the water. It also in my opinion blows the Vertigo especially out of the water and even the Big Bully which I absolutely love as a big hooking ball, both of which I own. Now some of you might say the Vertigo has a bigger hook than the Big Bully but not for me in my opinion the Vertigo is no match for the Big Bully. But back to the EPX, let me give you an example of what I mean. My father had some surgery on his bowling wrist a few years back and ever since he can barley hold a ball never mind putting a lot of rotation and lift on the ball. My Uncle who is my father’s older brother has the same Ultimate Inferno as my father, and he has to put Car Polish on it just to take enough hook out of it to get in the pocket, and even t

Definitely an amazing new technology. The ball has an spectacular reaction in the midlane, and continues to drive the entire way through the shot. The ball is extremely predictable even on longer conditions with heavier oil (it hooks... a lot). It came with a 4" pin and 3 oz. topweight. By the instructions that came with the ball, mine is drilled "strong" for a mildly rev dominant player. This equates to the pin being placed 4 1/2" from the pap (slightly above the finger line), and the cg 1 1/2" right of the center of the grip and down 1" from the midline. For me, the ball gets about 35' downlane before it starts to turn over, from which point it makes a strong arc to the pocketand doesn't stop. Overall I'm satisfied with the ball, but I'm slightly worried how well the ball will hold up. Although the new catalyst cover is supposed to be the most durable coverstock on the market, a friend's EPX chipped and cracked about 5 inches around the ball after approximately 12 games. My

The ball is great for the player with a medium speed and medium revolution shot. Ball is a smooth arc reacting all the way to the hole with a great finish. I have experienced great pin carry with few strong taps on the eight or nine. Great corner pin carry and a forgiving pocket for light and high hits. This ball does it all for me. The ball works best on a shot played from the inside working back to the pocket. No other recent ball has been able to work back like the EPX-T1. It has allowed me to play my favorite shot out over the ten board. This ball delivers exactly what my pro told me it would. One advantage that has been sold and yet to be determined, the life of the ball should prove to be significantly longer. The coverstock should not wear as quickly as a reactive or particle stock. I'll report back since this is my Number 1 weapon, now!

Well after all the hype and talk of this Epoxy Ball, i just had to go get one and try it out myself. The way mine is drilled, its just bairly leagal to use according to USBC, so i was hoping i had a hooking monster. Now i tend to throw around 17-20 mph and a good amount of revs on it. I started trying to throw my normal line, standing about 20 and throwing up 15....that didnt work, this was just to much ball for that so i moved in deeper, around 25-30 and and moved my target to around 12 instead...and wow....this ball came crashing back. Hit like a freaking Truck. This ball read the mid-lane so well and loved the way it rolled into the pocket, such an easy arch. Now if u get it outside u better have some speed on it otherwise u going to come straight across the head pin and if its dry, dont even think of pulling this baby out. First game, just trying to get a feel for it, i shot a 205, followed by a 256 and a 235...not a bad series for straight out of the box. I experimented

The ball is nice, but my rev rate is around 500+ and my speed is between 17-19 mph. We drilled it off the specs that Columbia provides for a stronger reaction for a revolution dominant bowler. Ball doesn't roll out keeps hooking. I don't think that this ball is the second coming of bowling balls, unless something changes in the ball after 20 games? If you find a medium/dry shot like most league shots the bowlers with lower speed and rev rates will be very impressed with the ability to move in deeper on the lane. The ball is fun to throw on a drier condition cause it takes a lot of speed to keep it for crossing over. All in all, I do like this ball, but believe the hype is a little much from Columbia. Then again, you can't sell anything to the public and tell them its just like everything else out there.
