Brunswick Time Zone Bowling Ball

Reaction Characteristics Back in the Zone, It's about Time..Time Zone that is. Bowling's most popular brand name Zone is back on a new ball featuring an asymmetric core that incorporates the Preferential Spin Axis Technology first developed and patented by Brunswick (US Patent # 5,074,553) in 1991. This core, in combination with the classic PowrKoil 18 coverstock gives the Time Zone an aggressive reactive Zone type ball reaction along with the unique drilling options of a ball with a built-in Preferential Spin Axis (PSA). When drilling the Time Zone, placement of the Riser Pin and the PSA locator(relative to the bowler's axis) influences the amount of track flare created, contributing to the balls reaction on the lane. The unique ellipse engraving* around the riser pin on the Time Zone allows the bowler to easily see the orientation of the core and the PSA when looking at their ball, making it easier to identify the choice of layout. When I drilled up the Time Zone, I did not know what to expect at first. It was first tried on a fresh medium house shot. The Zone skidded and did not create any friction. I have used bowling balls with the Powerkoil 18 reactive coverstock in the past and it was fairly aggressive. After using the Zone on the medium shot and from the results I thought this ball was a dud. But I do not give up that easily and decided to throw the ball on the same pattern but waited until it was broken down for five games. The condition was very over-under and and the oil was spotty throughout the entire lane. My RS1 on this pattern was far too strong on this pattern and could only be cranked at the widest angle. I decided to throw the Time Zone on my normal line of play, around the fourth middle arrow near the third arrow to the right and throwing out to the second arrow on the right with a medium rev rate and throwing the ball around 16 mph, I was throwing my RS1 around 19 mph, on this abnormal

Ball Specs: 16Lbs 2"3" Pin Lay Out: Pin Under and Between Fingers CG is down and slightly to the right of the pin. This ball is totally unique out of all of my equipment. I tried it in the factory/box condition and I couldn't really use it on many conditions, it would be to aggressive at times. So I wet Sanded it. Much Better for me. I usually can play from15 to 7 with this ball and still get awesome carry, and a nice strong hit. Other times I play straight up 10 to 7 and get nice results as well. This ball can sometimes be over/under, and also on certain conditions can be speed sensitive. This ball would be a good investment for just about any bowler looking for a Medium-Oily to Medium -Dry condition ball. You might have to fine tune the Coverstock, to fit your style. But I feel you would be happy with the results when you find what works for you with it.

im a 190 average and first three games bowled were 205 223 233. i had to adjust my ball path for it to work but it comes into the pocket hard. i wish i could throw it harder but the ball usually takes a while to go thu the oil. ill prolly end up sanding it a little so i can play it in oilier lanes and throw it harder. the ball is so smooth tho and hit the pocket so hard it perfect for anyone who throws it out and throws 13 mph or so. great ball by bruns!

Would give this ball a lot of credit for the success I've been having. It is great at smoothing out just about any condition.I have mastered a lot of patterns thanks to this ball.It will tell you where everything is on the lane dry boards and oil anything.Clean surface is required to keep the reaction and to make it work at it's best. This is a ball for those who need something that will blend out any condition and give that bowler great pin carry and keep their scores above the pack. This ball will reward you for taking care of it.

very good all around ball. havent shot really good lately until i picked this ball up. it is not a shot sensitive ball but can stone a 10 if u dont put enough on it. i think i had about 12 boards to play with on a house shot which is alot where i am from..i shot 267 with a ring 10 and a high 4 pin....i hate them now. but overall great ball...cant wait to shoot a tourty with it since its drilled to get through the heads and recover late in oil..its going to be nice...

The ball that I was sent was a 0.5" pin in on a heavy 15 lbs ball. When I took it to my pro-shop operator, he said that my ball was slightly different from the usual Time Zone because I have a different cover stock (not flat black, but a swirled black and grey). He seemed to think it was a TOUR edition. Anyway, he drilled it up with the pin 1" under the ring finger and the heavy spot kicked out to slightly to the left. The Mass bias is 3-4 inches below my CG just around my thumbhole. It took me a while to get use to this ball. It was so much more aggressive than anything I had ever thrown from Brunswick (or any other company I had tried). This ball went down VERY long (38-40 feet), and made such an aggressive turn that I was routinely leaving pocket 4-10’s and stone 9’s. Once I started projecting the ball farther down the lane (45 feet), this ball started to carry. No matter where it hit in the pocket, as long as it hit 45 feet (before moving), it would carry. I tried this

We laid the first Time Zone in the shop for our Power Stroker friend. He line up on our first shift house shot outside of first arrow, like normal, the ball would pick up a roll at about 25-30 feet, and then make a strong move to the pocket at 40-45 feet, with great punch at the pocket. After watching him throw 3 games with this ball, this is another solid ball in the Brunswick line, and with the Asymmetrical core, a new ball motion. I will update this review as more bowlers get this in their hands. This ball should not be a problem to layout with today's Mass Bias layouts. The drill sheet give you 4 basic layouts, but you can use any Mass Bias layout to get what you are looking for out of the ball.

drilled one for myself and one for a customer. excellent ball. depending on the drilling, this ball could roll up early or get down the lane. hitslike a truck. very typical of the older zones, a little more length than waht i remeber of the older zones. i recommend this ball to all my customers. excellent ball for those walled league shots. i wenrt front 11 with it lastweek. my other customer strikes at will with this ball when they break down a litlle. carries unbelievable. kicks the ten out with ease. half hits have no chance. match this ball up with the right condition and strike at will<sc
