Brunswick Smokin Inferno Bowling Ball

(38 reviews) Write a Review

The Inferno line has been a tremendous success for Brunswick. Defined by Ultra-Low RG Core Systems and Activator coverstock technology, the Inferno line is known for its clean front-ends and a quick revving core that helps create mid-lane recovery and a hard arcing back-end reaction. The Smokin Inferno debuts the latest addition to the Activator Coverstock family. Activator Advance is a new version of Activator coverstock technology that matches up best to a higher RG core system, compared to other Inferno's, delivering more back-end hooking action and the most angular Inferno to date. The Activator Advance coverstock has been RG matched to produce maximum forgiveness and versatility. The RG chosen for the Smokin Inferno produces a ball that is less sensitive to backend and ball track transitions than higher or lower RG options that were tested. The Smokin Inferno combines design elements in a unique way that produces spectacular results. Low-RG but very angula

This ball looks great and reacts great. Brunswick keeps improving on an already awesome line of bowling balls. Once you find your specific breakpoint, you have 7-10 boards to play with. This ball will almost never go jersey because if you tug it in the oil it will sit but still give some pop to keep from nasty splits or potential wash outs. You also don't need to put a lot of hand in this ball to get it to hook. This ball WILL come back from the outside and unless you are swinging the entire lane it will come back hard.

It is a good ball to have when you dont want to spend money on many balls. I have only a smokin and It has only not worked for me once because of extremely heavy oil. It doesnt pick up much oil which is good for me because I have to wipe all the oil off of the ball. Ive bowled a little under 100 games and have averaged 193 with it. It doesnt overhook, but it still hooks a good amount and bites into the pocket. It carries very well and it is forgiving. It has a very strong backend and it never grips too early.

Havent been bowling that long(only about 2 yrs) but this ball has gotten my avg from a 140 to a 173. Unbelievable ball with great backed. Ball im told is drilled with a lot of length to it. Only problem I have is when I have to start throwing across. Ball hits way to light and leaves a ton of splits but I believe its just because the bowl wasnt drilled to be thrown that way. Also, Coverstock seems to be a little iffy as ball has multple scratches on it and one small chip that i got in the fourth game i used it. Didnt come from the gutter either.

Being the most angular ball I have ever had, I have to admit I didnt want too throw such a big hook. I never did throw a big hook, but if you watched me throw this ball you would think I always did. One thing I love is, without much effort I can throw this ball across the 4th arrow out between the 1-2 arrow and when it gets10 feet from the pins it does a left turn into the rack. And as most of you know, with an angle like that, the pin action and carry is unbelievable Of course, too much speed or using it on the wrong lane conditions you will get different results, but just like another poster wrote, if you pay attention to what conditions this ball is for, you will love it. Only extreme dry and extreme wet conditions will this ball have trouble on. Remember, what ball can handle 90% of the conditions and not have problems on the other 10% doesn't?? Most balls can handle, if your lucky, 50-60%of the condition out there. This ball has the ability to handle 85-90%. IMO, you ca

I purchased this ball because I was currently throwing a Triple X, and was getting WAY too much hook with it. This ball is alot calmer and more controlable, and can carry just as good as my triple x. Bowling on Brunswick's newer version of anvilane (not pro), the ball set up at about 40 feet with a really heavy rolling sharp entry angle into the pocket. Once this puppy started turning it carred everything. I was throwing high-flush strikes all night long. The 10-pin didnt even stand a chance. Sent messengers across the lane, and hitting light carried well also. The only time this ball got a little squirty was when it was put in the oil. If u get it to the dry then the oil, its an animal. This ball will hold, but yet continue its movement through the pins/pocket. I have 3 infernos, and this one is the most controlable , and still a heavy hitter. Brunswick's inferno line is getting better and better. First game in league with this ball, shot 252. Go get one!

I noticed that light hits were almost sure thing strikes. The ball goes long and snaps to the pocket sharply. Pin carry is amazing, almost as if any pin the ball touches goes looking for another to knock over. I did hang a couple of tens on slightly high hits, but a lot fewer than I'm used to seeing. I normally play the edge of the oil. If I missed a bit inside, the ball rode the oil and stayed near the pocket. If I missed a bit outside, the ball kept a longer line but came back like it had radar for the pocket. Outside first arrow, in the dry .. brooklyn every time... but even those carried. This is an outstanding ball, in my opinion.

So far its a great ball. I have thrown 6 games with it and am impressed on how much backend and pin action this ball generates. The only negative I can find is if you miss, it will leave a real mess to clean up. But if you hit the pocket, it will send pins flying every which way. I hit the pocket pretty solid most of them time and have not left a ten pin yet which makes me very happy. The only reason I won't give it a 10 is because it seems to me that if you don't throw the ball the same every time, you never know what your gonna get, which I guess is OK if your a great bowler but sometimes I may drop my speed a little by accident or not put enough lift in it and it seems to act very differently. These problems are not as noticable with my Storm Trauma though.

Very consistent and versatile ball. When I get to later games and the conditions break down I just kept moving right and "ole radar" foound that dang pocket. The cover is super durable. Also, the coverstock can be adjusted easily (polished or sanded). I have only been bowling a little over a year and to date this is the best peice of equipment I have bought. You will not be disappointed in this ball. I know I will try others........but this is the one that I can see always coming back home to.......except when there is heavy oil......still trying to find the solution to that problem. I may buy another of these and sand it. Thank goodness for Brunswick's coverstock.

Ball is good if your gonna bowl JBT or any place you know where the lanes will dry out quick....overall this ball is one of the best out right now i think. I mean i just got it yesterday and used it for the first time today and it takes some time to find the right line to throw on and if u put more revs on the ball than speed u really need to put about the same amount of speed and revs on it. Speed will help this ball work its magic. Too many revs and not enough speed will make u miss.

I throw high revs at about 19mph at about the 7 board, typically. This ball amazed me the minute I threw it and has not disappointed yet, except for really dry or really wet conditions. I've thrown a few different house shots (Synthetic) and a few burnt conditions (the morning after open bowling shifts on old oil.) On the typical house shot this ball is amazing. It runs a long way down the lane, seeming to save its' energy up for the flip at the end..and what a flip it is! Once the ball turns over, it has one of the highest turn rates I've seen. The way this ball turns into the pocket, I would expect to see a few 9's staring back at me... It hasn't happened yet. In fact, at one house I throw at, I have a tendancy to see a lot of ringing and wrapped 10's (who doesn't!!,) but when I switched to this ball, mid-game, the 10's magically disappeared more than once. Getting into weaknesses, this ball becomes somewhat unpredictable once conditions turn very dry. Skid-snap becom

If i was to describe this ball in one word, it would be "WOW". This ball has an amazing backend reaction, and predictable roll. The smokin would be considered as my go-to ball now because it is very versatile. I was in awe at how forgiving this ball was, not to mention the extreme power when hitting the pins. When i throw my normal shot down the lane with this ball, it definitely turns some heads because of how loud and hard this ball hits the pins. I would recommend having a layout with a lot of backend drilled up. This ball is the best on medium-medium dry!!! The layout that I have is the pin 4 1/2" from the axis wih the pin at 1:00 over the ring finger. This layout provides Maximum hook potential for High-RPM players for medium oil!!! Trust me on this...... dont wait to get this ball, get it now!!!!---That is probably the best advice that I can give you.!!!! I just can spend all day telling you how good this ball is but it is better for you to find out yourself!!!! :)

Overall I do like this ball. I have tried it on 3-4 different conditions. Have it drilled with a 12:30 stacked pin. 3-4 pin location with a smaller weight (3 o'clock) weight hole. Right now it is box polished. Have not needed to change it yet. Eventhough I have around 50 games on it....it has not seemed to "oil up" yet. Conditions I have tried it on: 1. synthetic lanes with house type condition 40 feet oil. Ball started out okay until oil carried down some into the back end of the lane. Ball did lay a little bit after that. 2. synthetic lanes with house type condition 36 feet oil. Better...ball picked up earlier (like it should) and carried through the back end better. After oil carried down ball still worked well enough to continue to use. 3. Synthetic lanes with a sport condition. Had to play in around 17 without arcing the ball severely to the right as there was "hang" outside 10. Ball got through the front really well and saved up enough to get back with energy on the back. 4. Woo

This ball is clean through the heads and very contollable snap on the backends. This ball is more aggressive than AI and hit's with authority. This ball really hooks, I threw it out between the fist and second arrows resulting in a smooth arc in the mid-lane followed by a sudden snap towards the pocket in the backend. As long as your consistant, you will throw strikes all day long. recommend this ball for anyone looking to go clean through the heads and needing an explosive, yet controllable backend. This ball did not over react. It also recovers great if you throw it to far outsideThis by far is the best addition to the inferno line.
