Brunswick Smokin Inferno Bowling Ball

(38 reviews) Write a Review

The Inferno line has been a tremendous success for Brunswick. Defined by Ultra-Low RG Core Systems and Activator coverstock technology, the Inferno line is known for its clean front-ends and a quick revving core that helps create mid-lane recovery and a hard arcing back-end reaction. The Smokin Inferno debuts the latest addition to the Activator Coverstock family. Activator Advance is a new version of Activator coverstock technology that matches up best to a higher RG core system, compared to other Inferno's, delivering more back-end hooking action and the most angular Inferno to date. The Activator Advance coverstock has been RG matched to produce maximum forgiveness and versatility. The RG chosen for the Smokin Inferno produces a ball that is less sensitive to backend and ball track transitions than higher or lower RG options that were tested. The Smokin Inferno combines design elements in a unique way that produces spectacular results. Low-RG but very angula

I finally drilled one up to see what it would do on dry lanes. I started out with an Action Max. Boy what a mistake. The Action Max had a very lazy movement to the pocket, and kinda slid thru the pocket. Well the lanes weren't really dry, but the Smokin Inferno was my only other choice. Boy was I impressed. This ball was what I had been looking for for years. It went long, and when it hit the dry it made a big move to the pocket and it finish very strong. I am going to drill up some other Brunswick stuff to see what they can do. If the other balls are like this one, I know I will be very happy.

The Brunswick Smokin' Inferno bowling ball is a great ball. This ball has a very consistent roll. I love this ball so much that I have 2 of them, one is drilled with the pin above the fingers, to go long( which is my favorite). The other one is drilled with the pin below the fingers, to allow the ball to roll up earlier. I am a 210 average bowler and just recently shot a 299 with it. I suggest this ball to any bowler looking for a true and consistent rolling bowling ball. It is AWESOME!!! This will be a great ball for any one looking for a constistant roll, and will help any level of bolwers in my opinion.

OK ONCE AGAIN THIS BALL WAS THE FIRST BRUNSWICK I LOVED AND NOW IT HAS CRUCSHED THE PART OF ME THAT LIKED BRUNSWICK. I HAVE HAD THIS BALL FOR ALMOST A YEAR AND A HALF AND I HAVE LOVED IT AND THEN OUT OF NOWHERE THE BALL JUST SHATTERED IT SPLIT RIGHT IN HALF IN MY BAG. THE BALL ONL HAD 300 GAMES ON IT AND IT HAD THE NORMAL WEAR AND TARE OF OWLIG SOME CHIPPING ON AND AROUND THE FINGERS AND THEN IT JUST SLIPT DOWN THE AXIS AND I DONT KNOW AT ALL WHY BECAUSE I DONT LEAVE MY BALLS OUT SIDE FOR LONGER THAN THE 15 MIN RIDE HOME FROM THE BOWLING ALLEY AND I KEEP THE BALLS I HAVE CLEAN AND AS OIL FREE AS POSSIBLE.

I really like this ball! It moves very nicely. It doesn't really take off on me, but that's not what I got it to do. It's my roller. No big fancy moves, but nice and smooth. It's great for when the lanes start to breakdown after a couple of games. I got the pin drilled out on it, so it's a bit weaker than it could probably do, but it does it exactly what I want. Overall, I love it. I can't say anything bad about this ball. Obviously, don't use it on fresh oil. Great for your shorter sport shots, too.

Inferno!!!!! what else can I say. This is my go to Ball no matter what the lane condidtions are. I can adjust to the lanes easily. I use it also for my spare ball with no fingers. My first one was the Raging Infern given by a friend. I am looking to get another Inferno soon and it will probably be a Total Inferno. I dont have a Radical, Scorching or Blazing. I am looking for another drill pattern for this ball for extremely oily Sports shots. I used a Columbia for 14 years and never got the action I get with an Brunswick Inferno.

I HAVE HAD THIS BALL FOR OVER A YEAR AND I HATED IT UNTILL I CHANGED MY WHOLE APPROACH AND TONED DOWN MY REV RATE. NOW THIS BALL IS AMAZING IT GOES REALLY LONG AND TAKES A SHARP SMOOTH CURVE AND EXPLODES THE RACK LEAVES A FEW POCKET 9'S BUT THATS MYU FAULT. THIS BALL SO FAR HAS NOT GIVEN ME NO PROBLEMS NOW THAT I HAVE CHANGED MY WHOLE WAY OF BOWLING BUT FOR ONCE IN MY BOWLING LIFE I CAN SAY I FINALLY THINK BRUNSWICK HAS A WINNER AND THAT I MIGHT ACTUALLY TRY THIER NEW FURY LINE

In person its a nice looking ball Doesnt Hit The Pins very well lots of splits 8 and 9's and the price i dont think so If you are going to buy anything in the brunswick line either buy a vapor zone or the total inferno if you want gut wrenching pin reaction and unbelievable traction and smooth rolll on the lanes as far as this ball goes id give it a D- This ball hooks way to early and does not cut through the pins the ball is listed as 142.99 are you kidding me the fury is 129.99 and the total inferno is 124.99

i bought this ball when it was newer, about 2 months after it came out, i dont know how to describe the drilling pattern, it has a 2 inch pin, the pin is about 1 inch under my ring finger with the cg out with a 3/4 ounce ballance hole, with a slight polish, when I got it I told the guy I wanted it to have controlable middle with good backend roll for lighter conditions, and its great, I play btw the second and third arrow and with good lift it rolls over and smashes, I know scores dont really account for the ball but I have one 299 and a couple of low 700's with this ball, very consistant roll, even on some dry lanes, with enough loft it can still be guided to the pocket. the things I do have problems with are unless you have good clean backends its kinda weak, I leave many 8 pins from it not setting strong enough, and this ball does not handle alot of oil well at all, even when I had it at the factory finish i coudnt use it till about the end of the second game but over all a g

I bought this ball when I was 13 for my birthday, it was shiny, I was young, it was a great match. I'd been bowling conventional straight for 2 years, and this was an interesting choice on my behalf. It really helped me develop my technique, due to the large hook, and has helped me through the last 3 years worth of tournaments, with a few first place finishes which were nice. It didn't fade too bad actually, when I got it I barely maintained it at all, however it's lost most of it's hook now, but for dry lanes it's now excellent and a quality ball for anyone who wants to be very competitive in the dry-oiled lane condition.

its a good ball for oil lanes.. in dry lanes you may want to switch your ball..dont always rely on the ball to get a strike wen u hit pocket.. leaves some 4 pins..and 10 pins..dont miss your mark or else you mite go brooklin....dont crank the ball in the dry cause the only thing that yur gonna hit is the seven pin...if u are going to use the ball in dry lanes try and throw it in the oil first then let it drift in the dry and u will have a better chance of hitting the pocket for dry lanes...play in and out for try and play inside for oil lanes<s

The inferno line is awesome. When the lanes dry out for my ultimate I turn to the smokin. The first day i threw the ball it was hard to predict. there were shots that i thought were gonna bury the pocket, but the ball took off through the nose. After a few games of throwing the ball I can now predict it. If i throw it inside it will hold, but it will leave a 10 pin. thats a lot better then leaving a split. or if i get it outside it storms back and buries the pocket and leaves pins flying everywhere. the first game with this ball was a 235, and i average low 190s.

this ball is freakin sick.. the first game i threw with it i knew it was going to be my first choice over any ball. Im a hi-rev player so the fact that this ball doesnt hook a ton suits me perfectly. I have it drilled for control with a smooth arcing backend and i couldnt possibly be happier with the ball. On a typical house shot condition i have about 3 arrows worth of area and im loving it. Within the 1st 2 weeks of having the ball i shot another 300 with it. Im thinking about possibly buying another to store away and drill again after i put about 50,000 games on this one.

great replacement of the intence inferno bet inferno yet. great ball to have in your arsenel with the absolute, and the ultimate. good core, coverstock mix the cover stock doesnt need lots of attention like the intense inferno did. I got this ball drillesd at about half the aggressiveness that I wanted because of the pin that I was givin (this ball was givin to me new) and this ball was still a beast nothing but good things to say.this ball is very speed and consistant release sensitive if your ball speed gets to slow this ball will hook off of the lane

I wanted this ball to play up the boards and still react sharply. The houses I bowl in have synthetic lanes and typically the oil is broken way down when my midnight league starts. I ordered this ball with a 4" pin and 4oz top weight, which Brunswick delivered. I layed out the ball with the pin 2 1/4 from PAP, CG 3 1/2 from PAP, and an 1 1/2 pin buffer. Extra hole on PAP, and thumb drilled extra deep to bring ball to just under 1 oz. POSITIVE thumb weight. I knew this layout would allow me to keep my speed up on the conditions I bowl in. My first day with the ball I threw 235, 230, 219. This was playing over 6 out to 2 at 19 mph. If I missed outside, I got a washout. But as reflected in the scores, that didn't happen often. This ball hit HARD. This layout WILL NOT cover a large amount of boards if that's what you're looking for. But it will allow the bowler to play up the boards with tremendous power at the pins

I bought this ball about 6 months ago, and have bowled on a combination of synthetic and wood lanes. The majority was wood though. I have the ball drilled with the pin 4 1/2 in. above pap. The ball worked best when I had medium oiled conditions, but did not react extremely well for me when I played an inside line. That's why I mainly played outside of the first arrow. The skid snap reaction on this ball was very nice and hit pretty well. I had some problems with carry on certain days, but I think we all have that problem once in a while. When on heavy oil this ball didn't operate extremely well. It found the pocket but didn't hit as strong. That is why I recently purchased a scorchin inferno. As a duo they can be very deadly, and I do recommend the Smokin Inferno to anyone who wants a ball that will skid snap.

THe ball is ok. It is my ball I go too when I am stuggling with the lanes. If my ball is skidding I will go to this ball. The ball goes longe r for me sometimes. In one week at two different houses I went 752, 685 at my house then bowled a tournament shot 659 and 580. The other house if I could have carried and picked up my easy spares I would have shot good. The ball is drilled up for more leverage. I got this ball in a summer league In the summer I bowled in two leagues averaging 218 and 216. Started out the year throwing this ball and did not do a thing. Got a new ball drilled up and now this is my ball I go too when I am struggling with the lanes.

This is easily my favorite ball. It goes long down the lane and has a nice backend snap. It rolls extremely well on a synthetic lane surface and carries almost everything. Whenever im a little confused about the lane condition, it always seems that i can pull out the smokin' inferno and score pretty well. Ive got about 500+ games on it, so its dying out, and im defintiely getting another one. I havent seen a ball with a reaction quite like this (my super sonic is close though), but we'll see what happens with the vapor zone im getting soon. For the smokin', i have the pin under the fingers and the CG kicked out at about 30 degrees... its not a super aggressive layout, but it works for me.

This is my first year ever in a league and I have a 199 average. I think this is a good feat. I wish I would have started sooner. This ball gives me great mid lane-read and a sharp back end. I would suggest this ball too anyone both beginner and advanced bowler. I am picking up the ultimate for heavier patterns and I also throw a lane i durty bomb hybrid. Which in my opinion sucks. So if you are looking for a good medium light to medium oil ball this is it. I am very impressed with all the brunswick balls out there. My coach threw a absolute and bowled a 300 with a 215 average, he turned me on to the ball and i couldnt be ahppoer. It does however leave big splits. If the entry angle is wrong turn around and pray becuase it will leave you with some crazy stuff.

I wanted a ball for medium oil. I have an RSX which is drilled for the light oil, but is way too jumpy. Wanted a ball with a more even roll on those same conditions and I got it. A lot more back end than what I really wanted, but a great ball none the less. Hits very well and doesn't roll out on the dry. This is an absolutely amazing ball. If you don't have one already...you need one. The retail on it is $250, but do some shopping online and you'll find it much cheaper than that. I got mine in a combo with the pro player squared triple for only $175, and the ball alone was only $125...so do your homework. I've only been a serious bowler for about a year. I started out throwing a Columbia 300 Messenger Cherry, and I just got the Smokin Inferno for Christmas. I carried right around a 200 average with my old ball, and the first day I threw the Inferno, I averaged 210. I was never able to play inside, and thought my game just wouldn't allow it. Now I know...it's all in the equipment. And this ball is the one. Absolutely amazing!

The Smokin Inferno is a modified version of the Intense Inferno which is a modified version of the Blazing Inferno. Every modification was a change with the coverstock. From Activator to Activator+ and now up to Activator Advanced. I do not think it is necessary to constantly change the coverstock like that, it just confuses the bowler. Are there differences? Yes but not significant changes. I tested all three of these medium RG pearl reactive Infernos on a broken down lane condition that would qualify as medium-light that is on a synthetic lane surface. All balls have the same label drilling. When I used the Blazing Inferno, it was very predictable on the lanes with an angular movement. Pin carry wise, the Blazing left the most flat 10's and high 7's. I was dissapointed with all of those corner pins but on the whole I could use the Blazing Inferno on this condition having confidence with its predictable reaction. The next ball on the rack was the Inte

it hits great if it gets in the right spot. it has to get in the right spot or else it will leave something nasty. what i found is that it works pretty good on the cheetah PBA shot/the best line for that is playing outside the second day i had this ball/the first time i shot on this pattern i got a 254. Recently i got my first 700 series and after that my high game 288. most of the time i shoot straight up and hit the second arrow. so basically if you are looking for a good ball for medium to light conditions at a good price go with the smokin inferno

Overall its a good ball on a drier condition or a non house pattern but the lack of midlane traction i think hurt the reaction of the ball even after sanding with 400 grit paper the ball was extremely mild and lacked hitting power on my condition. however i am also the lane man so i get to play around sometiems with different shots and put in several different patters and found that on lighter patters and more difficult sport patters the ball had an extremely different reaction witch i did like.verall its a good ball but not one i would put in the center of my arsenal.

The Smokin' Inferno possessed an extreme amount of backend. Of all the balls I've thrown, the SI takes the cake for backend. I noticed that if I missed, i usually left a nice big split. I do not recommend this ball for a 'cranker' unless you think you can generate enough speed to keep this demon on your side of the lane. I could not hit my pocket without increasing ball speed and I throw a strong stroker release. I tried throwing outside over 15, the ball broke at 2-3 and still came heavy into the head pin. I don't believe I throw all that slow of a ball. Overall, I recommend this ball to anyone who is starting to throw a steady curve but is looking for more. I also had the ball drilled to get the biggest amount of hook (a hard flip of the core in the backend). I don't recommend this one.

Used to an absolute inferno, I found I had to move my feet 5 boards and my mark 2 boards left to get this ball to the pocket. This ball is very predictable with a slight turn followed by an angular break to the pocket. If you've never tried it before, you ought to try a pin position under the fingers with this ball. May not hook on the wettest lanes but will definitely turn once they begin to dry out at all. Very strong out of the box and continues to hit if its taken care of. I had to resurface mine and I also plugged the balance hole and moved it up for a more even reaction. I love the way it rolls. No surprise it just does its thing and carries through the pins like an inferno should.
