Brunswick Helix Quantum Bowling Ball

(7 reviews) Write a Review

A total eclipse of the competition. Daul surfaces. Dual purposes. Helix rools on the power stripe of conventional urethane (keeping it straighter through the heads and resists tracking), then flares out to the other surface of reactive urethane for a more powerful backend reaction.

I love this ball. It is a ball that is forgiving. If you are looking for a ball that is good at swinging the ball or playing down and in this is the ball to have. I use this and my DZ2. The only new ball I have gotten so far is the track heat blast and it sits in my bag. If you can find this ball I would buy it....... ... ...this is a great great great ball just like the whole quantium line that is off the market now get it now before they are all gone. I have found them on ebay and on www.bowlingball.com

Ball Specs 16Lbs 2"-3" Pin Lay Out: There is only one way to drill this ball for an individual bowler, and that is based the bowlers track. When I first saw this ball I didn't even know what I holding in my hands. They discontinued this one before it's Prime. The reaction of this ball is sweet. A nice down and in ball. I had to adjust the surface slightly to be able to use it like I wanted to, from 12 to 7. With this ball it is easy to see the transition from skid to flip. Therefore it's easy to make any adjustments that might be necessary. Tip: When the lanes dry up put this monster back in it's cage. It will not do well, You will become quick friends with the 7 pin, 10 pin for you lefty's. I would pull out my Double Helix for drier Conditions. This is a great ball, I feel lucky to own it and it's companion. Overall I wish Brunswick would bring this ball back from the dead, and just make it more reasonably priced, and maybe it would get the chance it didn't ge

traded a reaction ARC(Which I hated) to friend for this ball who just didn't have enough hand to make it move. This ball reminds me of my mellower inferno, A little more eariler rolling with a very controlled Arc to the pocket. And dispite being almost 7 years old it still carrys those 7's. The 8 and 9 pins I left with this ball just killed me, one week in league I shoot 299 with a 8 pin next week I come back with 299 with a 9 pin. And like I said eariler this ball is one of the most versatile balls I have ever thrown, it really doesn't matter what your on, if you can adjust then your fine. I'm still kicking myself for not getting the NIB one I saw awhile ago. I would also like to add that because of the Gold stripe on the ball there are Left and Right versons of the ball that can only be drilled one way, if not drilled corectly the ball will not do much at all.

This obviously isn't a new ball, but when I happened across the other revies of this I just had to respond! Come on all the rest who reviewed this ball - its really no good at all! In my humble opinion, its up there with the white AMF technology as one of the worst balls ever. The basic idea of the gold strip doesn't work, and it hits like a dry sponge. I was given one of these by a really nice guy, so I redrilled it and used it for about a week. I have put it's recomended conditions above as "dry", but really i wanted to say "the carpet in my garage". I think I heard that WRW won two PBA events in a row when this first came out - al I can say his HOW?! RAP

This ball I think is better than all the new stuff on the market now!,, I know it sounds weird, but this ball moves better than most of my new equipment. Only thing is, Very hard ball to come across, even online for the right weight. I was lucky to pick mine up. I first threw this ball on AMF's HPL Synthetics. I played outside, standing in the center of the lane. The ball looks like it will do nuthing the first 30-40 feet. Then once it flips over to its fresh- reactive side, lookout cause it comes crashing in the pocket, with enourmous hitting power! The ball performs its best on mostly synthetics, and ive shot very good w it on wood surfaces as well. Ball looks great going down the lane, and people will take notice. I think more companies should make more balls with this combined coverstock, it prevents a ball from losing its hitting power and picking up an early roll. You get more strikes when a ball saves its energy for the back portion of the lane,,,,, Try this ball, im sure u wil

The Helix is a ball that does what it is designed to do! The Helix gets down the lane and makes a very strong (hockey stick) move to the pocket. This is a great down-and-in ball! Warning: This ball is made for “old school” striking! You can’t get cute with this ball. Rainbow hooks will roll out. Bring a different ball for spares. Initial Reaction: This ball is analogous to strapping a stick of dynamite to a curling rock! This ball goes down smooth as butter w/ explosive power on the back end! Watch the pins fly! It was a real treat to throw this ball. This is truly a treasure for your arsenal! P.S. Rumor has it that the seams, where the 2 materials meet, separate after a while. I’ll be highly disappointed if this happens without neglect! I’ll keep you updated.

Probibly one of the biggest steps foward in the bowling industry would have to be the introduction of the Quantum Helix. The first Urethane/Resin bowling ball to be sold on the market. We all knew that Quantum was the ball to have when the lanes were nothing but soup. These were the most technologically advanced balls in their day. But the helix left an impression that no other ball can overthrow. I bought my first Quantum Helix NIB from a friend of mine five years ago for $100.00 . We drilled the ball do roll early that is all i know. i think it is drilled 12:00 stacked but i am not sure. Took the ball out to the lanes and shot 655 with a 279 game!! ( this was great b/c i was only 13 yrs.old at the time). I still have the ball with me today. I have 3 300's and 1 800 with this ball alone. This is probibly one of the best balls that i have ever owned and it would make a great addition to anyones arsenal.. 10 out of 10
