Got mine used, it worked really well at first as I got it from a righty so I only had to plug the thumb. As stated above, it cleared the heads really well. Unfortunately, after about a month of usage, the urethane started chipping and eventually cracked out partially. I am angry, as I paid decent money for it, as I got it in good condition, but it is now useless. Had it held up as I would have expected, this would be a much happier review. The same thing happened to a buddy of mine with his original Helix Quantum. It seems like a very good concept to ensure clearing the heads, unfortunately, the implementation of the concept did not work too well for me.

The quantum helix is a unique ball for sure. Still can be used on THS if you want to play outside 2nd arrow and still stay soft and fluid. Ball really comes alive after the urethane strip gets roughed up and dulled a bit. The arc to the pocket starts earlier and the flare transitions to the PowrKoil18 solid resin faster than out of box polished finish. Definitely only one way to lay this ball out, and thats with the black axis marker on the PAP, clear riser pin will always be 3 3/8" from PAP, to ensure the ball flares enough to get off the urethane pearl strip. Just some advice on laying out, if you place the black axis marker EXACTLY on your PAP, the first flare of your delivery WILL hit the center of the urethane strip, So if you want the ball to roll off the urethane strip a touch earlier than about 43 feet, move the axis marker about 1/2" past your PAP on a line from the center of your grip through the PAP. The first flare will hit the urethane pearl strip still. but subsequ

Ball Specs: 16.11Lbs, 3.4Oz Top Weight 2"-3" Pin Lay Out: There is only one way to drill this ball for an individual bowler, and that is based the bowlers track. What can I say about this amazing Ball. Well, It took me 1 year from the date my partner told me about having owned one and being successful with it, to finding one used, then finding one NIB. I got lucky. This ball is perfect for the down and in shot. It can be more aggressive when the lanes dry up though. Typically with this ball I play 10 to7, and I get some outrageous carry, and Loud Hit.This ball has much more back end than the Original Helix. Plus its pretty cool watching the ball go from skid to flip, due to the red urethane stripe. It is really easy to judge what you need to change with this ball when you are throwing it. It is discontinued so finding one would be possible, but would take time. Despite what some have said about only playing one line with this ball, I have had success with it pla

If anyone has a problem with this ball, it's because: A) you are a spinner or a full-roller; B) Your pro drilled it wrong; or C) You are throwing it too fast. It does perform just as it was intended to do. It rolls through the heads (skids on the urethane strip) and flares at the breakpoint onto the resin and makes a nice even turn into the pocket. I make it a point to switch to this ball (from my Speed Zone or Quantum Slate) as soon as the lanes start to transition. Keep the speed down, because unless you are a true power cranker, you can overthrow this ball and miss the breakpoint. It needs to have time to flare. It doesn't really "flip,' it has more of an old-style flare. It just never overreacts like the newer balls all seem to do. This is a superior medium-dry condition ball. It is exactly the ball I was looking for, and I just wish I spent the money when they were new (I was convinced that it was a "gimmick ball" that wouldn't work. Boy, was I wrong!)

I finally got a chance to throw this ball and all I can say is WoW. This ball is amazing. Truth be told I was alittle weary about it. Because considering everything else I've given a chance figured it was worth a try. Man, am I glad I done that. It's extremely difficult for me to miss the pocket and this thing crashs hard. It doesn't flip real hard on the backend either which is weird for it to hit as hard as it does doing what it does. It will roll fairly long, and then make a nice controllable move to the pocket and just shred the rack. I've never seen a ball work like this out of any ball I've thrown. Definately the most controllable ball I've thrown and seen to date. Absolutely amazing. Such a shame it was discontinued. a perfect 10 out of 10 and I'd give it more if I could. Trully amazing ball if you hit that little wonder strip (the urethane part).

The Double Helix is a ball that does what it is designed to do! The Double Helix gets down the lane and makes a very strong (hockey stick) move to the pocket. This is a great down-and-in ball! Warning: This ball is made for “old school” striking! You can’t get cute with this ball. Rainbow hooks will roll out. Bring a different ball for spares. Initial Reaction: This ball is analogous to strapping a stick of dynamite to a curling rock! This ball goes down smooth as butter w/ explosive power on the back end! Watch the pins fly! It was a real treat to throw this ball. This is truly a treasure for your arsenal! Brunswick! Please bring it back!!!! P.S. Rumor has it that the seams, where the 2 materials meet, separate after a while. I’ll be highly disappointed if this happens without neglect! I’ll keep you updated. <sc
