AMF Night Hawk SE Bowling Ball

(3 reviews) Write a Review
We love bowling as much as you do, and like most people we’ve got our All-Time favorites tucked away for special occassions... That’s our inspiration for the new Night Hawk Special Edition; take a ball reaction from the past everyone loved and give it that Special Edition touch to match today’s lane conditions. With an updated coverstock, sharp looking black hybrid color and NEAT “T” Pad finish, the Night Hawk SE is going to provide that controlled and predictable motion off the spot every competitive bowler needs. This isn’t your dad’s Night Hawk, but it will certainly make him feel nostalgic.

BALL SPECS Pin Length: 3"-3.5" Starting Top Weight: 2.94oz Ball Weight: 15.1 DRILL PATTERN Dual Angle Layout: 60* x 5" 45* No X-Hole BOWLER STYLE Ball Speed: 15.5 - 16 PAP: 4" (right), 3/8" (up) SURFACE PREP Grit: OOB ("T" Pad) LANE CONDITION Length: 39'-42' Volume: Medium Type: THS COMMENTS The Nighthawk is back. Now with a modified Favorite core! For this ball I chose a layout that has been an all around good performer for me: 60*x5"x45*. I have used this layout with success on the Favorite, King Cobra, and Darkness to name a few. Clean through the heads and a smooth, controllable backend ball motion. This ball is smoother than a Favorite and King Cobra by far. I was forced to play up the boards and as the lanes transitioned, I could continue to play this part of the lane without the ball checking up or over-reacting. The back-end move is smoother than expected. As far as cover changes go, I have only used this ball at the OOB finish which is a "T" pad and not experimented with any lower grit surfaces. I feel this ball needs a little friction up front or a little more surface to be able to use it on anything more than a THS. I wouldn't hesitate to snag another one and drill with a more aggressive layout. This ball is a great step down from an All Day and a step above a Boost Pearl. Again, another ball that will be very drill friendly and suit all bowling styles. For those bowlers who want an even arching reaction without the over-reaction, this is your ball. IN AN AGE OF "BRINGING BACK THE OLDIES", THE ONLY BALL FROM THE MID/LATE 90'S THAT STARTED A LINE OF DOMINANCE HAD TO BE THE ORIGINAL AMF NIGHTHAWK. HERE IT IS! THE NIGHTHAWK SPECIAL EDITION IS HITTING PRO SHOPS ON 11/14/14! BEING A PROUD OWNER OF THE ORIGINAL, THE TORQUE, AND THE REVENGE, I WAS PRETTY EXCITED TO HEAR THAT A NEW VERSION WAS ON THE HORIZON. COVERED IN AN T-PAD (4000) SURFACE, F55 HYBRID SHELL, AND THE POWER RING SYMMETRIC CORE, OLD FAITHFUL HAS BEEN JUICED UP TO CONQUER ALL OF TODAY'S CONDITIONS. DRILLED MINE FOR A NICE SMOOTH ROLL, AND IT DELIVERS. WHEN THE LANES GET A LITTLE OVER/UNDER, THIS IS MY GO TO BALL. IT CLEARLY THROWS PINS AROUND ON LIGHT HITS. WORKING ON THROWING UP BIG NUMBERS USING THE ORIGINAL ON ONE LANE, AND THE SPECIAL EDITION ON THE OTHER. CHECK OUT MY VIDEOS ON YOUTUBE, USERNAME "CONVENTIONALSPINNER"...

The AMF Night Hawk SE is by far a great benchmark ball for Medium to low rev players. It is also great for High rev players on Medium to Light lane conditions. It has a smooth roll from release to impact, no need for making large adjustments the Hybrid cover and core match up to keep you in your comfort zone. The 4000 grit surface keeps it smooth. Try one, it worked years ago and it works now. It looks like the Night Hawk of old and will grab the attention of everyone that used to have one. Donny Carr 900 Global/ AMF Staff
