For those who loved the original Alpha Crux, or never got the chance to throw it, now is your opportunity to see what you were missing. The Alpha Crux returns, upgraded for today’s conditions and ready to dominate heavier volumes of oil. Bowlers can expect that dependable Alpha Crux ball motion: strong and predictable through the midlane, a decisive move at the breakpoint, and exceptional control and power through the pins. At the heart of the design, the Catalyst Weight Block returns, preserving the dynamic characteristics that defined the Crux Series. Paired with cutting-edge A.I. Core Technology, this system amplifies energy transfer and hitting power while enhancing overall motion, delivering a stronger, more effective continuation through the pins.

Alpha Crux AI
As a one-handed bowler with a 14.5 mph ball speed and a 350 rev rate, I'm always looking for a ball that can handle heavier oil volumes while still providing the continuation needed to create consistent carry. Drilled 4x4x2, the Storm Crux AI delivers exactly what I want from a strong asymmetrical benchmark—early traction, excellent midlane control, and a powerful, continuous motion through the pins on medium to heavier volume conditions. The 4x4x2 layout complements the Crux AI exceptionally well for my game. The pin-to-PAP distance allows the core to rev up efficiently in the midlane, while the shorter pin buffer helps create a stronger and more defined move downlane. The result is a ball motion that reads the lane confidently without burning up energy too early, something that can be a challenge for medium-speed bowlers when using stronger asymmetrical equipment. What immediately stood out was the Crux AI's ability to blend out wet-dry conditions. Many high-performance asymmetrical balls can become overly sensitive to friction, but the Crux AI maintains a predictable shape while still creating plenty of continuation. It picks up in the midlane with authority, establishes a strong roll, and continues driving through the pin deck rather than losing energy as it approaches the pocket. Technically, the combination of the AI Core technology and the aggressive coverstock creates a motion that is strong yet controlled. The ball provides a clear read of the lane, making it easy to identify transition and make confident adjustments. For my matched speed and rev rate, it allows me to stay in the oil longer, control the breakpoint, and trust the ball to recover when I need to migrate deeper inside. The continuation through the pins has been outstanding. The Crux AI doesn't simply hook—it drives. Light mixers carry consistently, flat corners are minimized, and the ball powers through the 8-pin area with impressive energy retention. Even when I miss slightly into the oil, the ball has enough traction to recover, while shots sent toward friction remain stable and predictable. For medium-speed, medium-rev one-handed bowlers looking for a strong asymmetrical ball that offers excellent traction, superior midlane read, and relentless continuation, the Storm Crux AI is an outstanding choice. It provides the blend of control and power needed to attack heavier conditions while maintaining the versatility required for league and tournament play. The Crux AI gives me the confidence to stay aggressive, trust my ball motion, and create the entry angle necessary for consistent carry.

The Alpha Crux Ai is Storms newest Premier line piece. The Alpha Crux AI features the same core found the in the OG but is now wrapped in AI and finished with GI-26. The Alpha 2026 feels exactly like I’m back in 2016 drilling an Alpha for the first time. The Alpha was known for superior control across all patterns and the 2026 version feels no different. This is a must have for any tournament bowler who wants extreme control on fresh conditions. Available in any Storm VIP Pro Shop today! Review Video: https://youtu.be/6769ycqBLG4?si=cz2XSwIZHXNi_Cvw

The Alpha Crux!
Alpha Crux • Strom • Premier Series Coverstock • GI-26 Solid Reactive Finish • 2000-grit Abralon Core • Catalyst A.I. Core Weight • 15 lb. I was eager to see what the hype was all about. Mind you, I never rolled the original Alpha Crux, so I can’t compare the two. However, I can tell you that the new and improved Alpha Crux is a fantastic release designed to fit any straighter player’s game. The Alpha Crux has some wonderful features worth writing about. So, let’s take a closer look at what’s behind the new Alpha Crux. As a straighter player, I depend on consistent motion, a predictable turn off the pattern, and, most of all, enough power to deliver the hard-rolling continuation I need to compensate for my lack of rev rate. What I found with the Catalyst Weight block was exactly that! I loved how the Catalyst Core was smooth in the mid-lane while retaining a great deal of energy for the back end. Further, the Catalyst Core doesn’t hesitate when the Alpha Crux finds friction, so I loved being able to trust that it would stand up off the pattern with authority, regardless of how weak the shot was off my hand. And with the addition of the A.I. technology wrapped around the Catalyst Core, as a straighter player, I couldn’t ask for a harder-rolling continuation that actually left me with a few flying messengers! Yes, a straighter player with flying messengers! I would say that speaks volumes about how the Catalyst A.I. Core makes the Alpha Crux deliver! Let’s talk about the outstanding results of the GI-26 solid coverstock on the Alpha Crux. As a straighter player, I loved how the GI-26 solid is a well-balanced mixture that provides the traction I love to see, without the exhausting oil-absorbing bite that leaves me corner pins because it grips the lane so intensely! The GI-26 solid was designed for higher oil volumes, but it doesn’t burn up and get lazy like other strong solid mixtures tend to. On a fresh THS, the 2000-grit Abralon surface was ideal for a first game and produced a smooth, well-balanced motion I love to see. So, the GI-26 solid coverstock lives up to what Storm set out to do. However, as an experiment, I brought my Alpha Crux up to 400-grit Abralon to see how it would fare on a night of THS bowling. What I found was that the Alpha Crux was dynamite all night long. Because of the higher surface, I had to start further right, but because the GI-26 reads the lane so smoothly and evenly, I was able to move quite far in with the Alpha Crux and enjoy playing in areas late in game three that I don’t normally get to play. So, without a doubt, straighter players and those who are more speed-dominant THS bowlers will find the GI-26 to fit their game quite nicely. In closing, the new and improved Alpha Crux is an outstanding release from Storm. The combination of the Catalyst A.I. Core and the GI-26 coverstock makes the Alpha Crux a great choice for any straighter, low-rev player like me. Furthermore, I strongly suggest that advanced Junior bowlers, especially the girls, take a look at the Alpha Crux, as I can see it delivering consistent, predictable results for you on medium- to long-length patterns with higher oil volumes, especially when those huge asymmetric cores and heavy cover balls start burning out. So, stop into your local Storm VIP Pro Shop today and see where the Alpha Crux will fit into your arsenal. The Alpha Crux is well worth the consistency it brings! NEW ALpha CRUX
#15 Storm Alpha Crux: SPI says: A modernized version of Storm's legendary heavy-oil asymmetric benchmark with massive midlane traction and continuous motion. After drilling the Alpha Crux with a **4¼ x 3⅜ x 4** layout, I found it to be what I hoped a modern Crux would be, a strong, predictable asymmetric that blends the lane exceptionally well without feeling overly early sandwiched between my Ion Max and Equinox Solid. The New Alpha Crux is designed for today's higher-friction environments and heavier tournament conditions. Me:Senior Right-handed bowler with approximately 300 RPM and 15–15.5 mph ball speed, this layout gave me a strong midlane read while maintaining excellent continuation through the pins. The 3⅜-inch PSA-to-PAP distance helped the ball transition strongly in the midlane, while the 4-inch VAL angle kept the response smooth and controllable rather than jerky. What stood out immediately was how confidently the Alpha Crux handled oil. On fresh sport patterns and heavier house conditions, the ball picked up noticeably sooner than my Equinox Solid, yet it never felt lazy or quit downlane. Instead, it created a heavy rolling motion that kept driving through the 8 and 9 pins. For my rev rate and speed, the Alpha Crux excels when there is enough oil to keep it from reading too early. On flatter tournament patterns, especially 42–47 foot conditions, it gives me confidence because it reads the lane before the breakpoint and doesn't rely on friction to make its move. Compared to some my other SPI pieces with the same layouts: -Physix Blackout: Earlier, stronger, much more total hook -Equinox Solid: More traction and smoother backend -Ion Max Pearl: Less angular, stronger overall footprint and more control-oriented -Origin EX: Earlier and significantly stronger | The Alpha Crux feels like a true successor to the original Alpha Crux Looking forward to use at the USBC Open Champship. Alpha Crux Review
The Storm Alpha Crux makes its return and it’s bigger and better than ever! If you were a fan-favorite of the original, you’re going to love the new version. The Alpha Crux features an updated GI-26 solid cover stock, along with the returning Catalyst Core only this time, provided with AI technology. Better enhancement, better ball motion, better results! While I didn’t get the opportunity to throw the original Alpha Crux, I was very excited Storm Products decided to do a remake and updated version of it. The colors and Apple Fritter fragrance are amazing, just like the original. I decided to go with my standard layout of 70 x 5 3/8 x 40 for most asymmetrical solids I drilled. I have tested it both on a 42ft modified league pattern and Kegel’s rt 66 45ft. I was very impressed with the versatility the Alpha Crux can create. While the ball reads a little early in the oil, it has a very strong, continuous back-end motion through the pins. The more I moved my feet to the right to swing it, the more response the ball receives as it migrates through the oil. While league patterns can be tricky depending on how much oil your center uses, the Alpha Crux would be a reliable option to start with until the friction becomes too much, and the ball becomes very over/under. This ball will work well with sport patterns contested on heavier volume with more room for error. Applying power edge polish is also ideal if you want to give it a shot for medium/low volume patterns. All in all, the Alpha Crux would be a great piece to add to your arsenal. Storm has hit another home run with this release. If you are looking to add an updated asymmetrical solid in your bag, the Alpha Crux is the ball for you! Be sure to drill one up today at your local Storm VIP Pro Shop! Set the tone again!!

Alpha Crux - A.I.
This is the most anticipated release for me so far because out of all all the Crux series, I have yet to have thrown an Alpha Crux. And now, they have brought it back, with the upgraded GI-26 (Game Improvement 2026) coverstock, same Catalyst core, and updated A.I. (Amplifed Inertia) core technology! I decided to get two Alpha Cruxes: Pin down layout - 4 3/4 x 4 1/8 x 4 1/4 (50 x 4 3/4 x 70, using the vector layout) Pin up layout - 4 3/4 x 4 1/2 x 2 1/4 (55 x 4 3/4 x 35, using the vector layout) All I have to say is wow! Both of these balls did absolutely amazing for me, especially on higher volumes of oil. The pin up Alpha was great for me to dig through the oil and store energy for me in the backend, which provide that smooth controllable shape that I always like. The pin down Alpha worked great for me after a little transition from the pin up Alpha to pick up just a little earlier in the midlane and gave me a rounder shape and continuous motion through the pins. With the pin down Alpha, I was able to keep my angles closer to the pocket, which suits my game great! Great for heavier volumes of oil, smooth and predictable and absolutely amazing on the lanes. I have fun throwing these, and I know you will too! It’s available now at your local Storm VIP pro shop.

Most reliable big ball!
The Storm Alpha Crux is hands down one of my favorite bowling balls I’ve ever thrown. From the moment it leaves my hand, I can trust it to read the lane and make a strong, confident move through the midlane without ever feeling unpredictable. What I love most is how effortlessly it handles heavier oil while still driving through the pins with incredible power. The continuation is outstanding, and when it sees friction, it makes a strong but controlled motion that gives me confidence on every shot. The iconic Catalyst core and strong solid cover create a ball motion that is both smooth and powerful, making it a true benchmark for heavy-oil performance. Many bowlers consider the Alpha Crux one of the most sought-after and legendary releases in Storm’s history, and after throwing it myself, I completely understand why. It has become a ball I never want to take out of my bag because it simply gives me the confidence to strike and attack tough conditions. The Alpha Crux isn't just a great bowling ball—it's a ball that I genuinely love every time I step onto the lanes with it.

About Me PAP. 4 3/4 right 1 3/8 up Ball speed 17 MPH Rev-rate 450 Layout 70 x 5 x 70 Pattern sport patterns The Alpha Crux is the ALPHA bowling ball for Sport Patterns. The Alpha Crux allows me to combat sport patterns with control and predicable shape giving me confidence to attack any tough patterns. Once the lanes break down with the layout I put on the Alpha it also allows me to combat over under reactions as it continues in the oil but will roll forward if it hits the friction early. I can play multiple angles with ease. I recommend this ball to any bowler who bowls on competitive oil patterns. The Alpha Crux will give you the confidence you need to make shots knowing it’s very predictable. Thank You STORM! Storm Staffer Go Get It!!!!!!!

Storm Alpha Crux AI
The Alpha Crux AI brings back one of Storm’s most trusted names, now featuring the updated GI-26 Solid Coverstock wrapped around the proven Catalyst Weight Block and enhanced with AI Core Technology. With an RG of 2.48, Differential of 0.053, and PSA of 0.018, this ball is built to handle a wide range of lane conditions while maintaining the strong continuation Crux fans have always loved. I drilled mine 4.5 x 4.5 x 4.25 and have been extremely impressed with its versatility. The Alpha Crux AI is strong enough to be a great option on fresh, shorter heavy-volume patterns like those seen at USBC Nationals, yet it also shines once the lanes begin to transition and stronger pieces such as the Ion Max Solid or Ion Max Pearl start reading the lane too early. What stands out most is how predictable and powerful the motion is. It blends the pattern well, creates a strong mid-lane read, and continues through the pins with authority. Whether you're a speed-dominant player looking for more traction or a rev-dominant player needing control without sacrificing continuation, the Alpha Crux AI delivers. The Alpha Crux is back, and it's here to stay. Bowlers of all styles will appreciate the versatility, consistency, and proven power this ball brings to the lane.

Storm Alpha Crux
Storm Alpha Crux 5x4x2. I never had the original Alpha Crux so I was pretty excited to throw this one. I have been very happy with the newer Storm asym solids because their core/cover combos have made them more continuous down lane while still reading early enough. I used to struggle a lot with energy retention throwing stronger covers in the past because of how rolly they are. Alpha has absolutely no trouble finding its way back to the pocket from just about everywhere without losing energy. It also responds well to release changes which is a good sign for me because I can see myself potentially staying in this ball longer especially on higher volumes. I look forward to throwing this Alpha Crux in some tournaments coming up. Make sure to visit your local Storm VIP Pro Shop to get yours now. #stormnation

Alpha Crux
Ball Specs: Storm Alpha Crux GI-26 Solid Reactive Cover 2000 Abralon Finish Catalyst A.I. (Asymmetric) Layout #1- 3.5 x 5 with 1” Pin Buffer (more length and backend) Layout #2- 3.75 x 3.75 with 2.5” Pin Buffer (early and control) Bowler Specs: Right Hand. PAP 5” Over 1/2 up Rev Rate 300. Tilt 20. Rotation 50. Speed at release 17 Review: The Storm Alpha Crux Solid remake is a big hooking, strong ball. I drilled my first one with mass bias out toward my V.A.L. and the ball read early and was smooth. I did need to keep it in the oil for best ball motion. If I got the Alpha Crux to the dry to quick it read too soon and did not retain the energy or back end I wanted. I polished this ball up and had much better results. Learning from this, I drilled my second Alpha Crux with the pin in a high flare position and put the mass bias in my thumb. What a difference! This layout allowed me to swing the ball out and the ball never stopped hooking. This layout is one of my favorites because it raises the differential and helps back-end motion. The pin carry is excellent. The Alpha Crux is now the strongest ball in my bag. I am bowling a heavy oil sport shot tournament later this month and this ball will be in my bag for sure. If you are a tournament bowler or need help getting the extra hook potential this ball should be a good fit for you. Summary: The Alpha Crux is a big hooking ball. This ball is great on heavy oil and drives hard. The Alpha Crux is predictable and hits hard. Alpha Crux AI Review
Layout: 4 1/2 x 4 x 2 1/2 Surface: 2000 Abralon Rev Rate: 470 RPM Tilt: 13* The Alpha Crux is brought back but powered with AI core technology and an updated coverstock for today's oil environment. The Catalyst core is back from the original but now with AI technology. This helps the hitting power increase while keeping the RG and differentials of 15-16lbs with similar specs. The core is combined with the new GI-26 coverstock which is an enhancement of the original GI-16 coverstock. Still designed for heavier oil environments, the Alpha Crux will roll the best in fresh oil conditions as well as high oil volumes. I was able to test this on a fresh 43ft typical house pattern. In this particular center, I try to play around 12 to 7 on the fresh to give me the most success. The Alpha Crux was too strong in this particular spot as it read pretty early and went high due to its strength. I moved in to about 15 to 7-9 and I got into the pocket with ease. As long as I got the ball a little more up the lane, it went through the pins very well. The smoothness of this ball makes shallow angles shine. If I got the ball to 5, it either saw the friction too early or was too lazy off of it leaving a flat 10 pin in most instances. As I moved in, I needed to create more rotation for the ball to come around the corner enough to strike. Like many other high-performance solids, this ball will have limitations opening up the lane in most environments. Bringing up the surface to 4000 grit or adding Power Edge will help the ball retain more energy for higher friction surfaces and lower volumes. Compared to the Equinox Solid, the Alpha Crux was overall stronger and was actually more continuous. The Alpha Crux struck where the Equinox Solid had a little trouble hooking enough. The Alpha Crux was about 3 and 2 stronger overall. I recommend this ball to someone who wants a high-end ball for higher oil volumes or who bowls on patterns who don't have as high of a rev rate and like to play straighter up the lane. I think it will be a great replacement for those who had the original or want a step up from the Equinox Solid. https://www.youtube.com/shorts/DIEfGMPd-bc

Storm Alpha Crux AI Review: The Crux Legacy Returns Stronger Than Ever
The Storm Alpha Crux AI is everything you’d expect from a ball carrying the Crux name. Designed for medium-heavy to heavy oil conditions, it provides a strong and predictable motion through the front of the lane with a powerful midlane read and continuation through the pins. The AI Core technology helps create excellent energy retention, while the coverstock offers the traction needed when lane conditions demand more hook and control. What impressed me most was how well it blended the pattern. Rather than being overly aggressive off the spot, the Alpha Crux AI creates a smooth, continuous motion that makes it easier to stay lined up as conditions transition. Whether you’re competing in tournaments or looking for a reliable heavy-oil option in league play, this ball delivers confidence and consistency shot after shot. Pros: ✔ Strong midlane read ✔ Excellent continuation through the pins ✔ Predictable and controllable motion ✔ Handles oil with ease ✔ Great benchmark option for higher-volume conditions The Alpha Crux AI is a worthy addition to the Crux legacy and a ball that serious bowlers should have on their radar if they’re looking for performance, versatility, and exceptional pin carry.

The addition of AI technology and an updated cover to the original catalyst core gives you the 2026 Storm Alpha Crux. The GI-26 Solid cover will handle the advancements made to lane conditioners the way the the EGI-16 cover did. Same amazing performance on today's lanes that made the original Alpha the beast it was back in the day. I tested the Alpha Crux on a broken down lane in my home center. I'll mention I was skeptical of how much this ball would roll the the OG with the AI addition and the updated cover. That was a big factor in choosing to test this ball when I did rather than waiting for a fresh lane. I had great success throwing the 2016 Alpha when I had to get left but needed a ball strong enough to still dig out. It was one of my favorite balls for instance if I had to throw it over the left gutter. This test made a believer out of me. I immediately saw the early friction throwing a test shot around 3rd arrow. I tried a little loft but needed to really back the hand out of it to push it through the front in that zone. I transitioned left and once I got around 4th-5th arrow I found that familiar reaction and enjoyed watching the ball peel back and scatter pins. The Alpha is obviously most useful when the lanes are fresh but I've had plenty of balls that work there. The Alpha has a home in every zone at some point and it's strong versatility still shows through. This ball will be popular with many bowlers. It's a great first ball out on heavy oil or for rev-challenged bowlers and a great ball of overpowering the lanes on basically any condition. This is a ball I could easily see tournament bowlers drilling multiples of to accommodate multiple layouts and surface preparations. Alpha Crux AI Review by Kyle, Joel, & Dean Johnson
Alpha Crux AI Coverstock: GI-26™ Solid Reactive – 2,000 Grit Abralon Weight Block: Catalyst™ + AI Core (Asymmetrical) Color: Black/Turqouise Fragrance: Apple Fritter Review: This is probably the most anticipated SPI release in the last decade and it comes at a very interesting time given the enormous popularity in the Bionic and the Concept. If you remember the original Alpha Crux was very popular and once discontinued people lined to try and stash them away. The originals were going on aftermarket sites for hundreds of dollars more than the original MSRP. The reason… the ball is just THAT good. Taking the original dynamics and wrapped it around the new AI core is a home run. This ball is seriously good. We drilled this ball with our normal layout: tweener, 350-375 revs, 16.5mph, layout of choice is 5x4x2 (pin is above bridge). To us this ball is similar in shape to the original Alpha Crux just a touch stronger and maybe a hair earlier (probably from the AI core technology). Comparing this to recent equipment it is similar out of box to the Ion Max Solid but more continuous through the back end of the lane. Once this ball lane shines (assuming you don’t hit it with an abralon pad) it shapes similar to the original Origin… which is a good thing in our book. This ball looks great at multiple surfaces and therefore can be categorized as anything from a house shot killer to sport pattern must have. This ball does live up to the hype and we highly recommend that you try it out if possible at a marchmaker near you. The Storm Alpha Crux is back and it doesn't disappoint.
The Storm Alpha Crux is back and it doesn't disappoint. Featuring the legendary Catalyst A.I. Core wrapped in the proven GI-26 Solid Reactive coverstock, this ball is built to dominate heavier oil conditions. With a 2.48 RG, the Alpha Crux revs up quickly and reads the midlane with confidence. The .053 differential creates plenty of track flare and overall hook potential, while the .018 intermediate differential gives this asymmetric powerhouse a strong continuation through the pins. The 2000-grit Abralon finish allows the Alpha Crux to dig into heavy oil and provide a smooth, predictable motion without sacrificing hitting power. What impressed me most was how well the ball blended out wet/dry lane conditions while still maintaining a strong move through the pocket. The reaction is best described as strong in the midlane, continuous through the backend, and extremely reliable when the lanes have volume. Bowlers looking for a benchmark heavy-oil ball or a first-ball-out-of-the-bag option will appreciate the versatility and consistency this ball provides. Specs: • Core: Catalyst A.I. Core Technology while keeping the ball motion that made the original one of the most sought-after releases in bowling history. The Alpha Crux AI is exactly what many bowlers hoped it would be a modern version of the original Alpha Crux with more hitting power. The GI-26 coverstock digs into the lane early and provides tremendous traction in fresh oil. I normally do not test balls on anything other than our house shot as that is where most bowlers bowl anyway. So after my first few shots I was not seeing what I “thought” this ball was or should be doing. It was lazy and didn’t do anything downlane. That is where I looked up this pattern and found that I was way too far to the right and as soon as I started moving left I started to see what this ball was all about. If you know me or have read any of my previous posts I like to play right and straight, BUT this ball allowed me to get left which was a great change of pace and I even got as far left sliding at 35. This is going to be a ball that will be in the house/league bag as well as my tournament bag. Thanks for reading and watching!
