Hyped Up! is a great addition to the HP2 line! With a medium diff and medium RG, this ball brings back the classic Hyped shape in a stronger A.I. version with the same cover as the Gremlin Tour X. The core has been modified with a lower RG and high differential to get the ball more useable on more conditions! The Hyped Up feels more like a baby IQ Tour type ball with more tip downlane. The Hyped Up has the VTC hybrid cover which is plenty clean but responds quite a bit downlane. I always have to be careful throwing Hustles or Surges on too much oil because they have a tendency to overshoot the breakpoint, but with the Hyped Up I can be confident I can go to it a little bit earlier because the core is stronger and flares more. The Hyped Up bridges the low end balls and the high end balls. It’s a piece we’ve been missing for a long time!

I got to throw the Roto Grip Hyped Up 4x4 1/2x2 on a burnt up house shot. This is a symmetrical hybrid and I was actually surprised how clean it gets through the fronts and how responsive it is to the friction but still blendy enough. This is definitely a ball I think I will be able to throw on house shots or on patterns with less volume or just later in blocks when the lanes get toasty. The Hyped Up from Roto Grip is one of the newest additions to the HP2 line and it packs a punch! If you drilled any of the Hyped balls previously, you may remember a shape that was cleaner than the High Performance balls, but still stronger than the higher RG balls (like a Hustle for example). The wizards in Utah fine-tuned the core by lowering the RG and increasing the differential (that means the ball should see the lane a little sooner than before as well as flare a bit more). I’ve drilled one so far and really like it. I’ve drilled it with the pin above my bridge and a small shift of the CG. This provides the following numbers (5 x 4.5 x 3). Our house shot tends to hook a good amount, so I’ve had a lot of success on lanes that provide a bit of friction and is a perfect ball to use after my Equniox Solid and Alpha Crux have done their jobs. Also, I’ve left the surface alone out of the box (4000). If you need a mid-priced ball that can compliment the high performance balls extremely well and provide a perfect ball to use when there’s friction to use, I’d be drilling the Hyped Up!

If you were a fan of the match up black pearl from storm, then the all new hyped up is going to be the ball you will want to put in your bag. This ball will be a must for those bowlers that cant get traditional pearl balls to hook. Out of Box ball motion started in the mids with a strong backend reaction through the pins. I compared this to the Hustle SOS. Hustle SOS was cleaner through the fronts with a smoother backend reaction. This piece will be good for all types of styles looking for a mid price bowling ball for medium oil patterns. This cover is going to read a little earlier while still maintaining the continuous down lane motion we all love. We drilled this ball with our normal layout: tweener, 350-375 revs, 16.5mph, layout of choice is 5x4x2 (pin is above bridge). Roto Grip Hyped Up Review Layout - 4 1/4 x 3 3/4 x 1 1/2 VLS SPI SAYS: The **Roto Grip Hyped Up** continues to prove why the HP2 line has been one of the most versatile benchmark options in the Roto Grip lineup. Featuring the VTC™ Hybrid coverstock wrapped around the Hyped core, this ball creates an outstanding blend of length through the front of the lane while maintaining a strong, continuous motion off the breakpoint. With my game—**300 RPM, 16 mph ball speed, 16° axis tilt, 73.5° axis rotation, and a 5¼" × 7/8" up PAP**—the Hyped Up is exactly what I want on a fresh **41-foot house shot**. For my release, the Hyped Up fits perfectly between a true benchmark solid and a skid-flip pearl. Layout: 4 1/2 x 4 x 2 Surface: 4000 Abralon Rev Rate: 470 Tilt: 13* The Hyped up is a modified version of the original Hyped Series with a modified core to give a lower rg and higher differential in the HP2 lineup. It is paired with the V-R1 Hybrid coverstock found on the Gremlin Tour X. I was remarkably surprised with this one on the performance it gives for its price point. My expectation for this ball to give a ton of length and smaller backend like I saw on the original Hyped series balls. I saw moderate length and a pretty strong change of direction down lane which plays to my strengths more. I was able to test this on the 50' 2026 PBA Badger Pattern. As expected, the Hyped Up was too clean for a heavier oiled pattern on the fresh so after a few shots, I broke the lane down with the Transformer. As the front part of the lane started to hook, this ball came alive and alive well. Bring a hybrid coverstock, the Hyped Up read the middle part of the lane more than I expected it to even at the 4000 surface. It gave me a pretty strong down lane move which as well was not expected. It was a strong continuation through the pins while not being too smooth or too angular. The center this pattern was in is a pretty high friction surface so I was able to play both around 5 board and again inside the 10th board as the pattern was designed to play. Playing on the outside, I had to make sure I rolled the ball in front of me with forward roll to pick up the lane soon enough. When I was able to do this, I had no issues at all getting to the pocket. Getting firmer with my ball speed or missing right of target did not read the lane well at all. I was able to get a full game playing around the 5 board a little more direct towards the pocket. When I moved to the middle part of the lane, I was able to actually create more area left to right. It gave me a look that was clean, yet read the midlane strong enough to hook on the 50' pattern. My carry was actually pretty solid considering the strength of the ball. Compared to the Transform Pearl, I saw about 4 more feet of length with a slightly more angular backend. For me this ball fits as more of a cleaner Gremlin Tour X. I recommend this ball as a ball that will fit most styles. It is clean but still reads the lanes more than you would probably think. Adding surface will allow this ball to work on a wider variety of patterns as well. I think someone who really likes the Gremlin Tour X but wants a similar ball that is cleaner, this is that ball. With enough surface, it could be used on the fresh on medium conditions, but I feel it would be a better transition ball on those same medium conditions. The Ultimate Wrecker brought back the HP2 line and now theres a dull finished option available to compliment it. Reviving another well known line they've added a sanded hybrid called the Hyped Up! Those who remember the Hyped line know they were great value pieces. The Hyped Up features an even bigger upgrade as they tweaked the core to add more diff and lower the RG slightly. The cover is also an upgrade; in the words of the company "By combining the DNA of the legendary Transformer (Solid) and the high-performance Gremlin (Pearl), we've created a hybrid shell that defines the "best of both worlds." I tested the Hyped Up on a fairly fresh house-shot in my home center. Our longer/heavier pattern isn't usually very friendly to weaker equipment until you've beat the track up with some stronger equipment. The Hyped up didn't have any problems. I Threw a few shots in the soupier part of the lane and though I had to keep my angles straighter and not give the pocket away, I had a look there. This ball is very predictable and the look it gave me here definitely speaks to it being useful on sport patterns. However since I was on the house shot I decided to move on to the friction. I had an amazing look here. The sanded hybrid cover really blended it out playing close to the oil line. It sat and rolled when I got it up the oil like and it had plenty of bounce back when I pushed it into the friction. It just a touch cleaner than what I would call mid-laney and just a touch quicker than what I would call smooth. This makes it an exceptional transition piece and an invaluable ball for people with lower ball speeds and higher rev-rates. My Specs: Rev rate 420’s, ball speed 15.3 to 15.8 mph off the hand, axis tilt of 16 degrees and axis rotation of 70 degrees, PAP is 3 13/16th up 1/8th. Based on the popular Hyped core from a few years ago, side note: The Hyped Hybrid is second all-time favorite ball, the core density has been enhanced but the shape of the core has stayed the same, giving the ball shape a little bit earlier than in the past, but stronger than the Hustle core, but less aggressive than the cores in the HP3 line from Roto Grip. Starting off with the layout I picked, the 3 x 5 ½ x 1 ½, longer in length and a smidge stronger than my RockStar and Viking Conquest layouts, the 2 x 6 x 1. Fitting right between those 2 balls is what I was looking for to be added into my fall league bags, since I will be bowling in at least 3 different centers with 3 different lane panels and lane machine, I need to cover all my bases with 6 balls. Recently when the Rockstars were not quite strong enough, I either went to the Storm Monsoon or Rocket A.I. sanded to 3000 grit to give me that little extra kick I needed in the back ends. I would have to watch my speed more so with the Rocket A.I. because a little too much speed would cause it not react quick enough down lane and the Monsoon would be a little less angle leaving more flat corner pins. The Hyped Up! is giving the perfect look between those 2 balls. It's steady and reliable, and has been used on 3 different lane surfaces and a variety of house patterns and it has worked extremely well for me, and that is why I am HYPED UP! for this new HP2 ball. My current travel bags will consist of: Rockstar, Hyped Up!, Viking Conquest, Gremlin Tour-X, Wicked Gremlin, and either the Platinum Mix or the new Cosmos spare ball - depending on my mood. The Hyped Up really gets me Hyped for when the lanes have more carry down. This ball has helped me play a little more inside than I normally would throughout the night. The lower RG and higher Diff on this ball makes it a little more versatile than my Hustle. The shape is a lot more predictable and reliable for the area of the lane I am playing.
