Track Rule GP2 Bowling Ball

(24 reviews) Write a Review

Introducing the Rule GP2, the newest high-performance innovation from the Track team. The Rule GP2 defies logic. Never has the industry seen a particle ball that is aggressive in the midlane without giving up angular, continuous backend motion in heavier oil environments. The Rule GP2 freatures a combination of two different particles precision-injected into the aggressive Goo reactive. Track then matched the new coverstock with the large-volume Morpheus 1.0 core; added the high-volume Rev-Lever attachment from the Rule and the Xception core for strong mass bias; raised the RG for more energy retention; and attached a flip block for awesome backend reaction. Aggressive in the front and the backend, the Rule GP2 delivers the technology that has made Track the industry leader in core/coverstock innovation.

I have used this on a Sport Shot and heavy oil house shot on synthetics and wood. It allows me to play a deeper angle on the sport shot that no other ball in my arsenal will let me play. It is great when the house shot is flooded but I have to be careful and watch the carry because it starts to burn up and hit more softly eventually after a game or two and you have to know when to put it away and pull out the polished ball. It is a good ball to have in the arsenal, especially for a low rev player with speed like me. I still suck on the sport shot but it is not the ball's fault that I can't repeat shots, without it I would probably do even worse.

GOT THE GP2 OUT OF THE PRO SHOP LAST NITE, NORMALLY I SHOOT THIS LEAGUE WITH MY TRACK FREAKAZOID, (NORMAL CHRISTMAS TREE PATTERN HOUSE SHOT) THE FREAK WAS MISSING RIGHT- LOT OF LONG CARRIES. NOT NORMAL FOR THIS LEAGUE, THEN WE FOUND OUT THEY THOUGHT OUR LEAGUE WAS DONE SO THEY DIDN'T OIL THE LANES AND THE OIL THAT WAS THERE HAD CARRIED DOWN. GP2 CARRIED A SOLID 191 AVERAGE IN SPOTTY CARRYDOWN ON SYNTHETIC LANES. VERY SOLID ADDITION TO MY FREAK , FOR HEAVY TO MED OIL OR ESPECIALLY HEAVY OR SPOTTY CARRYDOWN THIS BALL IS A MUST TO ANYONES ARSENAL.

The Rule GP2 is, in my opinion, is a fusion of old core technology and new coverstock technology. The high RG and high differential remind us of the cores seen on the old proactive bowling balls but luckily there is a better coverstock on this ball. I like how there are two different types of particle in the coverstock of the GP2, it improves durability. The GP2 was first used on a fresh medium-heavy oiled house shot. On that, the GP2 created friction faster than any other ball used on the lanes at that time. After only two games, the GP2 burned up far too much and it was time for a ball change. Seeing its reaction on that shot made me wonder how much oil the GP2 could handle. So I tried it on the most heaviest shot we have. It is around 45 feet in length all very thick and heavy oil. There were no dry backends at all to play with, it was basically a heavy flat shot. The only ball I had some sucess on this pattern was the Oracle and that was playing a straight line throwing

I have thrown the ball for a few months and it is a little inconsistent. can be very jumpy or dead - strange (kind of hard to explain).. My Hybrid Dirty Bomb is much more consistent on a sport shot than this one is (a little less striking power, but more predictable). On a house shot, can be inside outed, but looses power quickly and leaves flat 10's. Plugged and redrilled, but just can't get the consistent strong reaction I was hoping for and have read on the reviews early on. I purchased a Storm Trifecta, and is much more than this ball is (laid out identically). I still carry it with me, but seems to be a second or third ball.

Player Specs: Please see profile. Ball Specs: Pin Placement: 2" Ball Weight: 16lbs 0 oz's Top Weight: 2 oz's Layout: 5 x 3 1/2 with an Extra hold of 13/16 on my V.A.L. Needed a ball that could move very strong in oil. Todd Adams drilled this ball just to do that. I'm a very speed dominant player with a medium rev rate that uses the outside line alot to make a move for the pocket. This ball allows me to play much deeper on those fresh house shots as I expected. The pin is drilled just right and below my ring finger with CG just alittle right of the pin. This ball Revs up early for me and makes a strong arc into the pocket. Carrying for this ball is not an issue. Just know when to put it away. When lanes start to break down this ball will leave 10 pins like any other ball. Great ball by Track. I give it an 9 out of 10.

Track is a great company and i have loved their equipment, the xception and crunch time are still favorites of mine. The Gp2 is a good ball, but Track hyped it up to be the best thing to come out. Even with head oil the ball doesnt hook as much as they make it sound. The ball doesnt make any kind of skid flip motion like they say and the coverstock is really weird. it reads lanes weird and it causes a different reaction every time you throw it. i normally average 222 but am down to 204 so i know i am bowling bad, so it could be me with this ball, but i would say if you want a good big hooking Track ball, buy an xception and drill it aggressive, you will be much better off.

great ball kinda dies on you after a while but overall good ball.....like the early revs on the ball and the backend, made for oil and oil only dont try an throw it on the drys ....after a couple of months theis ball kinda dies and for that reason i dont like the coverstock on the ball......Track should make better balls as in reactive and not particle......dont really like the particle.........even though some of them are great there just not for bowlers who bowl almost every day now the arsenal ractive is a great ball nice roll and powerful backend....also hits hard its just great

I have this ball layed out completly stacked for how I roll the ball. This ball hits great it rolls great but it doesnt out hook my animal on the oiled heads. I had the GP2 at about a grit of 400 and my Animal at about 600. I used on a patern that if you try to hook it you die. My gp2 rolled a little to late and came in light. Then when I used my Animal it rolled like it always does in the heads and it arced right in the pocket took all 10 to the pit. Now the GP2 is for the heavy oil but I cant stand as deep because it doesnt rev as early as my Animal. Still has more hook that most balls on oil. It is my heavy oil ball, but only when there is carry down. Still worth the buy.

I was truly amazed by how much this ball hooks right out of the box. You definitely do not want to use this ball on dry lane conditions. I’ve never thrown a high performance ball before so it took me a while to get used to controlling it. However, after playing around and making some adjustments I was able to destroy the pocket. My only complaint about this ball is the cover stock (Goo Particle). This ball absorbs a lot of oil and continuously needs to be broken down. I’ve been using this ball for six months (about 150 games) and it finally lost its drive. I’m looking forward to trying more Track balls. One final note: I would normally commend a bowler for bowling a perfect 300 game and not the ball, but this ball definitely contributed.<sc

This ball will be an absolute monster with someone that has a lot of hand. I don't. Higher speed, medium rev player that likes the outside lines. Threw the first ten the first game out of the box, then jammed it thru the nose. Finished the 2nd game with five strikes, and had the first 7 in the third for 279 - 782. Great carry, but it will roll out a bit if it's swung too wide. Does leave a lot of room on the right though. Doesn't seem to like being tugged up tight though. Should be a good tournament ball, we'll see next time I bolw NABI.<

I was pleasantly surprised by the versatility the GP2 showed me when I used Clean n Sheen to take the surface to 1000. I bowled first on a high volume house pattern (23ml) oiled to 28' and buffed to 42'. The GP2 let me play anywhere from 20 to 12 without sacrificing backend and hit. On a slightly lighter medium volume pattern, the 1000 surface really made the GP2 "wake up", and I saw the mid-lane rev, and backend pop that I wanted to see. A much more versatile ball than I thought it'd be...if your house floods the fronts, say goodbye to mid-lane squirt with the GP2...all the hook througout the whole lane you'll ever want. I bowl in a wood house cooked heads. 38-ft pattern buffed to 42-ft wood lanes. Ball speed 18-19 mph, med. revs. Drilled my Gp2 with pin above ring finger. Pin 2 ¼ above grip line. With a 3” kick of Mb to the right of my thumb. Weight hole is 5" over on my grip line. Great for heavy oil. And very good with carry down. The Gp2 makes a better move to the pocket then any other ball when on a fresh condition. The Gp2 Rule, Arsenal Aggressive and Exception make a great 1,2,3 punch in the bag. Remember bowlers when done bowling clean your equipment with Track Clean N Dull. Bsuproshops.com Track Amateur Staff member

Everything, the ball hits like a tank! You need enough oil for this ball to work properly. You can move inside with this ball, and it still carries and hits! I have 2 of these, and the first one is drilled pin by the ring, cg out toward my PAP, and the mass bias on the VAL. Finish is out of box, and this ball is a monster! 2nd one is drilled with the pin under the ring, cg in my palm, mass bias in my track. 1st three league games I shot 813 for my 1st sanctioned 800 series. Threw 32 out of 36 strikes, 2 10 pins and an 8 pin, plus a bucket 255-279-279! Great overall ball that everyone needs in there bag for fresh shots!

this ball its the most greatest ball i have ever roll reads the lane very quick and a have a sharper breakpoint on heavy oil.. thats awesome ...this ball rolls slow when you throwit but then in midlane and backend the ball rolls like a nascar car and hit very strong my ball is drilled with the pin below finger and the cg throw it alittle away from the center with out balance hole this ball its absolutly great the color its great and its very controlable with a little polish you can do this ball very sharper at the breakpoint and hits awesome or factory finish for a big hook around all the boards and great pindeck reaction

Very thirsty on oil head. I drill it last week & noticed that this ball has very good pin carry on oil pattern.May not lose hitting power when cross carry down blocks. This is nice selection for you to have it after Phenom appeared last year.I also compared with Phenom & GP2.And I found out that GPS has more room to get on pocket track if you mis-shot a bit.But Phenom gets more back end than GP2. I think they are very nice for me to enjoy the tournament with lot oil.Especially most of the players are headaching when lane start breaking down. But I am still enoy the string of strikes without changing position. This is very nice factor to convince me to drill another one.For you?I guess you will think so...

This has to be my all time favorite heavy load particle ball. Since drilling it I have made the finals in a PBA east regional shooting 300 in the process. Won 2 local tournaments 1 where the finals were bowled on TV. This ball is actually the 2nd GP2 I drilled ( 1st was 16 lbs I switched to 15 lbs) I put the pin 4 inches next to ring finger 4 inches from PAP CG 5 inches from PAP x hole 2 inches below PAP MB strong. This ball clears the front with ease, rolls in the midlane then backends hard. This ball seems to carry every type of hit from light to kick 4. I have left mine box finish so it does need oil in the front. If you are looking for a ball for heavy to med oil that doesn't hook early the GP2 is the one. This ball is another winner from Track!!!!!!! -------------------- John Walther III Track International PBA Eastern Region Staff Member

Lane Condition bowled on= fresh oil 42ft on new synthetic hpl lanes. Bowling style= Right Handed semi Cranker, 18-19 mph ball speed. Ball condition= Brand new in box surface condition layout= drilled fingertip, pin above and in between the fingers, cg moved right toward pap,MB rt of thumb about 3". My PAP is 5" over, and 3/4" up. This one has a weight hole. Simple amazing is all I can say about the GP2. I have never seen a ball as stron as this. A very good choice for heavier oil, or longer conditions, and lso good on carrydown. This ball revs up great, gets down the lane well, and the hit is amazing. I don't think i've thrown a stronger ball to date. The GP2 definatly complements the Rule and Xception. With those 3, you can cover all varieties of lane conditions. If your looking for a powerful cover, a strong core, the GP2 should be your choice!

I Drilled by Rule GP2 with a 41/4 x 2.5 in pin. I drilled my balance hole 3 inches below my PAP. This ball flat out moves and never seems to lose energy. I can't wait to see what it does on a long regional pattern. For a ball that is so strong even with a little surface it clears the front very nicely and rolls VERY strong through the midlane. I have yet to find a condition where there is too much oil for this ball. Also this ball does not seem to burn up like most strong particle balls. AMAZING BALL. I was given this ball by Del Warren (thank you Del). He was also nice enough to tell me how to drill this ball (stacked). This ball does exactly what I want and more. On a fresh shot it reads the midlane and then just unloads on the backend. On carrydown this ball is amazing. It clears the heads very well (some of that comes from the way I release the ball) and still reacts the same on the rest of the lane. This ball is so predictable on all conditions. It always reacts the same. This ball will be great for bowlers who want control ( the first time bowler) and those bowlers who want a really strong ball (the bowlers who are trying to make money).

Just when you think the guys at Track have a great release they up stakes and give you something even better. The GP2 does not give up when it gets to dry (as long as the oil helps it get down the lane). Earlier roll than the Animal, and more backend than the Rule, the GP2 gives a look on the lane like nothing I have thrown before. I have 3 of these balls, one to hook later, one for the lower end of heavy and one for the flood. I cannot use the middle or the heavier oil ones on league shots, they just hook too much. The GP2 is very consistant, predictable and in its own way it is smooth. Any style of bowler will be able to utilize this ball and take advantage of the power it gives from release all of the way through the pit.

Overall review, this ball is phenominal, the ball is very strong through the fronts, reads the midlane while retaining energy, and in the backs does not lose its backend...this ball is a keeper...My GP2 is drilled 5 1/2" by 5" with the Pin below fingers on my centre line. Mass Bias in the Strong Position. With a balance hole drill bit 25/32 drilled 2 inches in...Surface I left at box finish....This ball is a perfect compliment to the Rule and the Xception, if you have the Rule and Xception get your hands on the GP2...One thing I notice as well with the GP2, it keeps the pins on impact very low and gets them moving sideways very quickly...which is very good may eliminate some of those crush hits where it leaves you scratching your head....HAHA!!!! If you notice as well when you throw the GP2 you can see it start up in the heads very quickly, but doesn't lose it energy at all, unless the heads are burnt....Thats my review untill the next time...If you have any questions feel free to a

I have 2 Rule GP2's to review. Balls drilled by J.G. 300 Pro Shop - Ottumwa, IA. Ball 1 - Drilled with pin above ring finger, mass bias in track, pin is 3" out. Polished with Clean-N-Polish. Ball 2 - Drilled with pin under ring finger, mass bias in strong position. Box finish. Ball 1 is used on house conditions as well as tournaments. With the addition of the polish this ball goes 3-4 feet further down the lane. This ball still has lots of hook on the back end and plenty of power at the pins. Ball 2 is only used in tournaments as there is not enough oil on the house shots where I bowl for this ball. With the combination of drill and box finish this ball gets into a roll sooner than ball 1, but when used with enough oil still has plenty of hit left at the pins. Thi will be a great heavy oil ball. Track was kind enough to send us a few GP2's ahead of time so we could see what they do. Layed one out for one of the shop guys. His PAP is 5 3/8 up 1/2. Track diameter is 12 inches. Medium rev rate. He would be considered a tweener. We put the pin 3 1/4 from his PAP, MB 5 1/4 from PAP, with the pin 2 3/4 inches above the mid-line of his grip. We figured this ball was made for oil so we tested it on our 43 foot sport pattern. This ball gave him more room and overall hook then his other equipment. Compared to his Rule with the same layout the GP2 picked up a roll much earlier and had more overall hook by about 5 boards. He now has a nice three ball asymetrical arsenal with GP2 being his most hook followed by the Rule which clears the heads better then the GP2 but still has strong midlane reaction and then the Xception for skid/flip. Nice job Del, keep up the good work. <scrip

I drilled this ball with the pin 5" from my PAP and just under the fingers. The mass bias was kicked out about 2" from the PAP. This is my new heavy oil ball - replacing my scuffed Animal. Even with a 5" pin placement I get enough flare to conquer any heavy oil condition. I found that this ball covers as many total boards as my Animal, but it seems to have more energy on the backend where the Animal would often seem to run out of gas. On a standard house shot I could throw this ball out almost to the gutter and it would still have enough power to get back to the pocket and I could pull the ball into the oil and the coverstock was strong enough to help the ball get into a strong enough roll to hit the pocket AND carry the 10-pin.<
