The Match Up solid is the updated version of the Match in the Hot line of balls from Storm, The Bowler's Company. Sitting on the shelf, the Match Up resembles the Marvel S with the black, aqua, lime color combination. The Match Up solid also has the new updated Stinger 2.0 core, wrapped with Reactor solid cover. The pre-drilled Core numbers of the Stinger 2.0 are 2.57 rg, and 0.035 diff in 15lb balls. Using the same template as with the Match Up pearl and Match, I used the same layout on the Match Up solid, as I used on the Match, 4 x 4.75 x 3.25. The difference of having a factory finish of 1500 grit polish on the Match Up solid, compared to the 2000 grit abralon finish of the Match (with a coat of Xtra-Shine over top) was very noticeable, as the Match Up was a 3 and 2 left move to the drier part of the lane, in order to get the ball to the pocket. I decided to add a little surface to the Match Up using a used 2000 abralon pad, and was able to move my feet back the 3 boards to the right, to the same spot as I was standing with the Match, but I had to change my angle through the front of the lane by bringing my mark 3 boards right also, and allowing the Match Up to float to the breakpoint. So basically, I could stand at the same place, but I had to add more head-belly for the Match. The Match Up has a more continuous, stronger backend motion, and more continuation through the pins than does the Match. I feel there is a little more of a noticeable difference in ball motion between the solid Match Up and Match, compared to the pearl versions. While having both pearls may have some redundancy in a bowlers arsenal, I feel that the Match Up and Match can compliment each other well (especially with different surface prep), or at the very least, a bowler who was reluctant to try a Match because it seemed too smooth, may want to give the Match Up a try. Also, don't forget to try a little surface adjustments if you don't see what you were expecting, as this Reactor cover takes changes in cover prep well. Thank you for taking the time to read my review of Storm's Match Up solid.

Just Taking some time to talk to you about another great release from storm the Match Up Solid. Before i drilled it i really injoyed the colour combo and the smell yum lol.the biggest thing i see with this ball in the motion in the midlane you get for a mid low solid bowling ball. Its still very clean but know to sharp at the break point compared to the match up pearl.more arcing shape but strong arcing shape.i didnt mind the origianl match solid just that ball wasnt really ment for low dryed up patterns no backend just alot of roll and no finish.im very happy with the change they made to the matches this year more bang for the buck in your bag.I will for sure use this ball alot deeper into longer game format plus using the match up get amazing carry as well, sometime those weeker balls dont have the cores to make them carry well but with the match ups you will match up anytime on those dryer condtions get to your local proshop and get match up.

Storm Match Up Solid 45 x 5 x 45 44ft THS on Kegel Ice oil on older HPL surface – fresh and burned THS Ball at BOX surface – 1500 grit polished What I like: What is not to like... Solid cover, mid- strength core and polish. The ball matches really well for me for light to medium oil and shorter sport and challenge patterns. The first ball out of my bag at a few houses that are wood or ½ and ½ that I bowl and compete at. It slows down enough in the front part of the lane, but still retains all the hitting power in the back end. Use it in a doubles league where I don't have a lot of play on the left side of the lanes and really don't have to move much throughout the 4 game matches. The ball is: smooth, hits really hard in the pocket and very easy to maintain the performance over the course of ownership. Recommend this ball to all once a week league or new league bowlers. The new Storm Match Up Solid and Pearl are new and improved versions of the original Match Solid and Pearl. The Match Up cores features a higher RG and Diff. This lends itself to storing energy a little longer, leading to more shape down-lane. I liked the original Match Solid but the dull cover and low RG seemed to always give it a short shelf life on the lanes for me. And the original Match Pearl went through the fronts super clean but didn't quite have the strength on the back I needed. The new Match Up Solid and Match Up Pearl are much better at "Match-ing Up" to medium/medium-dry lanes. Even the solid cover is clean enough through the front to use later in blocks and stores enough energy to not give me an over/under shape. I think these will be great on drier house patterns or for lighter oil volume patterns where you need a little help getting through the fronts. Plus the value and shelf appeal alone on these balls is a homerun!

MATCH UP SOLID I was a little hesitant about drilling one of the Match Up Solids, due to me and the original Match didn't match up. But after a few conversations with my ball driller and my sales rep, my ball driller put holes in one for me. And I am very happy he did. Not having any ideal on what to expect due to my original Match, I went to a center that I don't practice in much. At first I took my IQ Tour solid, cause as we all know, you can't go wrong with it. This center is a 41' house shot with pretty high volume, with a flood in the middle. After several shots with the IQ I switched to the Match Up Solid and with the fresh cover it really rolled good and hooked more than expected. The Match Up Solid really reads the midlane very good with a strong backend motion with continuation through the pins. After several games the Match Up Solid really came to life. I could start opening up the lane and striking from multiple angles. For me once the cover got just a little oil soaked it really started to perform. I think this will definitely be a great house shot ball for everyone and a must for all tournament bowlers.

The Match Up Solid was introduced into Hot Line in June along with the Match Up Pearl. Both Match Ups are at 1500 grit and polished. The Match Up Solid has the new Stinger 2.0 core and the Reactor solid coverstock. The difference I noticed after throwing both of them was how the Match Up Solid was aggressively smooth and continuous through the pins. The Previous Match Solid had a tendency to not go through the pins well from inside angles unless you really wrench on it... I do not wrench on it, my rev rate is around 300, ball speed tends to be around 15 mph and I am right handed. The Match Up Solid is a vast improvement from the Match Solid. The Match Up Solid combines the smooth nature of the Match with more backend. I was able to toss both Match Ups and the Match Solid on several different variations of house patterns. Out of all three, I liked the Match Up Solid the best because it allowed me to play closer to my comfort zone. The Match Up Pearl made me move my feet deeper and bounce it off the dry and the Match Solid was extremely smooth but was not strong enough to open up the lane. The Match simply burn up too fast in the dry. The Match Up Solid was strong enough to tackle the carry down but smooth enough to handle the dry. If you are looking for consistency and strength on drier patterns the Match Up Solid is the ball for you.

I drilled up my MATCH UP SOLID to be my shorter pattern "shape" piece. I had a ROTO GRIP LOCO that was always dynamite on shorter patterns or higher friction back ends. I got to use this one on some shorter and more hooking patterns. Our house pattern is shorter than most at around 38-39'. Compared to the MATCH UP PEARL, the MATCH UP SOLID had enough cover to get rolling stronger to play into the oil line more. I still have better options in the bag if the wet is wetter, but could see the MATCH UP SOLID being excellent when they get a "cliffed" look and the move is to get the ball into the dryer part of the lane to combat the over/under. Now this one might be a better choice in that "cliffed" scenario with more surface as you could stay at the oil line longer. I would recommend this one to the players who need more length than their high end solids but don't need the change of direction the pearls provide. This one should keep you out of trouble until a move is needed.

Storm Bowling Match Up Video; Check It Out! https://youtu.be/fj9FMkcMAZM Review: I was very surprised at how much I like both these balls. Typically low end equipment, I feel, does not suit me well given the type of style I am (in between stroker-tweeter). In the past I would have a lot of over/under with low-end equipment although both these balls provided very consistent ball motion. When I threw it I knew whether it was going to be good or bad and I had more margin of error than I did from low end equipment of past years. The Match Up Solid (Layout - 55 x 4 x 80) was very smooth for me. I bowled on very dry lanes and the reaction I got from this ball was exceptional. It reminded me of an IQ tour on stronger conditions (Smooth arc with control). The Match Up Pearl (Layout - 80 x4 1/2 x 45) was very angular. I waited for the lanes to break down further when I was using my Marvel and Match Up Solid earlier. About 9-10 games in I started using the Match Up Pearl and it reminded me of one of my all time favorite balls that recently got discontinued, the Hectic. This ball goes long and is angular in the back end. This is going to be in my bag for sport shots when the lanes really break down. It gets real clean through the fronts and has a discernible break in the back end.

The Storm Matched Up Solid is Storms newest Hot Line ball. The solid contains the Stinger 2.0 core and is surrounded with the Reactor Solid cover stock and is finished at 1500 grit polish. I drilled mine with the pin above my middle finger and the cg kicked to the right of my thumb. This gives my ball length and more of a stronger move off the break point. I have found this ball is great for shorter oil patterns and lighter volume house shots. The ball has good reaction for a lower level reactive but doesn't I recommend this ball for anyone looking for a strong hybrid and wants control out of their ball. The Code Red is a great tournament ball because of its ability to handle multiple conditions. It's also a great ball for lower rev players on normal house shots.

This was a ball I drilled that I wasn't to sure about out of the box. For my game I had to find the right fit for this ball. Once I found it this continues to impress me on the lanes. compared to the Match Solid it's much cleaner and stronger down lane. This ball needs to see the dry but one it does it does not disappoint you. This is a great addition to the Hotline and anyone looking for a new ball for dryer lanes should really take a look at this one.

Orientation: Right Handed Rev Rate: 375 RPM Speed: 16-17 MPH PAP: 4 5/8 straight across Location: Enterprise Park Lanes, Springfield MO Pattern: High Volume THS Layout: 40, 4 ¾ , 70 The Match Up Solid is a great update from the original Match Solid. Storm updated the core to be a little higher RG and Diff. So that means the Match Up Solid is longer and flippier than the original Match solid. I liked the original Match Solid but there were times where I couldn't use it later in the day because it didn't go long enough. The Match Up Solid solves that problem. It's clean enough and flippy enough on the back to be used later in the day when the lanes dry out. The Match Up Solid is a great ball for light oil or transition.

I bought the Match Up Solid with the intentions of replacing my rocketship. Me being a higher rev and speed player, I usually fall in love with medium strength pieces because they can be used on almost anything. This ball hasn't disappointed! I drilled mine with my usual 4' pin layout, 70x4'x40. I've been bowling on a lot of flatter patterns lately, with lighter volume, and the higher end pieces have just been too much ball to get a constant reaction while still having good pin carry, whereas low end pieces are just too quick. The Match Up Solid fills that gap perfectly, giving me a nice smooth and round shape to the pocket, without sacrificing carry! Be sure to head to your local pro shop today and pick up your own! #StormNation

Storm Match Up Solid Ball Review by PJ Haggerty When I first saw Storm created this Match Up, it immediately reminded me of the great Marvel-S that should be in some sort of hall of fame. However, this Match Up has earned a very nice spot in my bag, especially when I know there's going to be some friction. I've been able to use this ball on Cheetah, Viper, and some shorter patterns where you don't need stronger equipment. The one I drilled is mapped out as 4.5 x 3.5 with a small hole under my axis. I drilled this one a bit stronger to make sure it flared enough and read the lane early enough for what I like to see. If I were to bowl nationals again, this one definitely would have made the trip because of how smooth it is. It also makes for a nice compliment to the Sure Lock, No Rules Pearl, and Timeless. It provides a slower response time but with a cleaner shape which is extremely rare to find. I can definitely see tournament players carrying one of these in their bag as well as more traditional league players because of how versatile this ball can be. Go drill one! #StormNation

What I was looking for: The Match Up Solid was drilled with the Pin Down. I am a cranker and I have high ball speed. I wanted the ball to read early and provide me with great reaction when heavy oiled lanes begin to break down. What I got: The Match Up solid was very close to what I was looking for. The ball had a great early roll and smooth rolling motion throughout the entire pattern. The ball had great pin reaction. I found the Match Up Solid to be about 3 to 6 boards stronger than the original Match. To my surprise I found this ball to be great when the lanes broke down but to my amazement was that I was to get a solid reaction and great low flying pins for maximum pin carry. The price of the ball is a steal for the power and controllability you get from this ball.
