Storm Axiom Bowling Ball

Design is thinking made visual. In Storm’s case, it’s design materialized. We understand that the perceptible is as important as the tangible. NeX (Nano Extreme) is Storm’s earliest reading cover to date. NeX Solid was remarkably earlier hooking than NRG on any pattern, or any surface we tested it on. We love all things new at Storm, and the Orbital Core is no exception. This modern take on an established concept has us stirring with excitement. The Orbital Core has a distinctly low RG axis which further complements the midlane read for which NeX was developed.

The AXIOM – what can I say. This and the Phaze III are my hands down favorite pieces right now. The Axiom will not disappoint polished or Dull. Patterns used for review are HP modified. Pattern A: 43Ft, 29 Mls, 5:1 ratio Pattern B: 40Ft, 27 Mls, 3:1 ratio PLAY The Axiom is much like a Phaze III but only stronger. I played the following patterns with two Axioms. One Pin Up out of box surface and one Pin down with polished. Pattern A: The Axioms very easily read both patterns. The longer pattern played a little better inside for the OB Axiom. However, the polished Axiom was a to move about the lane with easy, get to the point and make the turn. Play/Line moves that were used: Arrows/breakpoint Axiom OB: 12-5, 17-10, 20-12 Axiom Polished: 12-5, 10-10, 20-12, 10-5 Pattern B: On this particular pattern the Axiom OB was able to tame down the backend reaction. As the games played on the Axiom began to lose some carry but that was more of area played and slow moves to chase the pattern. However, The Axiom OB was able to get further right as the loss of energy was quicker and back in stayed controllable. The polished Axiom look like it had been let out of a cage on this. It checks hit the spot cornered and held pocket. The moves left made the ball look better and better but carry stayed in in the 15 to 5 area and slight right. The Axiom didn't like the move right as much. Play/Line moves that were used: Arrows/break point Axiom OB: 12-5, 17-10, 20-12, 10-5 Axiom Polished: 12-5, 10-10, 20-12, 10-5 LOW DOWN: The Axiom is a must get ball. It compliments all lines from Storm and Roto Grip. You will be surprised at the way you can make the ball arc or snap when needed. POWER! At its best without having to get the biggest ball

Ball Specs: Storm Axiom 3000 NeX™ Solid Reactive Weight Block: Orbital™ Core (Symmetrical) Color: Sky Blue/Navy/Slate Review: This is a monster symmetrical ball... for sure the strongest symmetrical ball currently from Storm or Roto Grip. A lot of people are calling this the baby UFO. The shape is almost identical with the Axiom playing a couple of boards on the approach to the right. If you own a UFO you will see similar response to friction and identical hitting power. This thing destroys the pins if you find the pocket. This is a great transition ball from a solid asymmetrical piece allowing you to play a similar line without switching to an asymmetrical pearl and changing your entry angle. Overall this ball is very smooth from front to end of lane, hits like a ton of bricks, and loves oil! If you love to move left and create some area this is a must have in your bag! The Axiom's coverstock (NeX Solid) is the EARLIEST ROLLING COVER STORM HAS EVER MADE! That's a huge deal. And it is clear to see that fact when you throw the Axiom. Mine is drilled 70x4.25x60 because I wanted the core and cover to transition similarly. There are no surprises on how this ball rolls. The Axiom reads the lane early with a smooth and predictable shape down lane. My Axiom is an earlier, smoother and stronger Phaze 2. A lot of people are comparing the Axiom to the Phaze 2 and I think that speaks volumes to how good this ball rolls! The Axiom will be in my bag for a really long time!

It's a new cover and a new core, and the all-new Axiom from Storm does not disappoint! The cover is called Nano Extreme ("NeX") and even with the 3000-grit out-of-box surface I have yet to see it sail past the breakpoint. The all-new Orbital core has a very low RG and very high differential (2.48 RG, 0.050 diff). All of this means that not only do you have a ball that won't sail past the spot, but it's perfectly capable of making it around the corner from some pretty insane angles... while still being good on higher volumes of oil AND working well from straighter angles on the fresh and being super consistent through the pins... but yet also never really feels uncontrollable (and if it is, it's time to put it away). On everything from high-friction wood lanes to a center that's snot-tight with a lot of volume downlane, this ball has been nothing but impressive.

The Axiom is Storm's newest ball in the Master line, it features the new NeX cover, which stands for nano extreme, and the new Orbital core, which features a high density inner ball to help create and maintain a super low RG. Throughout their testing, NeX was shown to be earlier and more durable than any previous nano formulations, and while it'll be a bit before I can get an idea about the longevity, it's definitely strong. However, throughout my several comparison videos, the versatility of the Axiom surprised me, because I thought that's one area it would suffer in due to the strength. It handles angle decidedly better than any other nano cover I've thrown, and the core performs as advertised, creating a motion that's somewhere between symmetric and asymmetric. It winds up better and is more consistent and firm at the breakpoint than the majority of stronger symmetrics, but doesn't have as much torque as most asyms. This gives it a somewhat unique look on the lanes, it acts a lot like a baby UFO. It's not as strong overall, but it shares the same kind of motion.

Bowlers Info: RH tweener, PAP 4-1/2 x 7/8 up, 365 RPM, 17* of Axis tilt, 60* of Axis Rotation Ball Layout: 50 x 4-1/2 x 40 Finish: Wet 3000 The Storm Axiom....this ball is hands down AWESOME!!! I was in need of a ball that was longer and cleaner than my Idol but smaller than my Sure Lock. Enter the Axiom! I drilled it 50 x 4.5 x 40 which is pin above the bridge. The OOB finish was too early so I took it up to 3000 wet sanded. For me, this ball is cleaner than I thought it would be, but man does it turn over once it sees the friction...almost asymmetric-like, fun to throw!! On the fresh house pattern, I was able to stay in this ball most of the night moving left, tried multiple inside patterns with success. Couldn't get deep inside with it, as it would burn up, but that's not what this ball is for. I would say it reacts like a bigger Phaze II. If you're looking for a bigger piece with big hook, look no further! Go check out this beauty and bowl up a Storm!!! Chris Martinez Storm Amateur Staff www.stormbowling.com

The Storm Axiom is the newest addition to the Master line at Storm. Featuring new technology with the Orbital Core and NeX solid coverstock, the Axiom is a symmetrical monster that will be used a lot in tournaments and league play. Also, the Axiom has beautiful shelf appeal with a couple shades of blue and grey. I've been impressed with the Axiom so far and it will continue to go with me to league and tournaments. I've drilled two Axiom's so far and love it. The one I've used most is mapped out as: 5 x 4.5 and I changed the surface to 3000 with water. Because the RG is so low (2.47), the Axiom wants to read the lane early. I've had the most success with it when I really want to control the back end of the lane. It has a very predictable, smooth response time and it compliments the rest of the line very well. When I'm bowling league or tournaments, the Axiom is normally the first ball out of my bag. All in all, the Axiom features the new Orbital Core & NeX coverstock from Storm. Another home run coming out of Utah! #StormNation

Axiom RG / Diff: 2.55 / .049 Ball Specs: 3000 grit - solid NeX coverstock / Orbital Core Layout: 80 x 2 1/2 x 45 What I liked: I liked that you could really identify the change in direction and also, the hitting and "staying" power of the ball all the way through the pin deck. The flare was a little less than I thought it would be, but it even made me happier seeing the ball finish like it did in the backend part of the lane, which on the fresh THS is was great. Once I seen the ball start to carry down lane a little longer, I woud just close my angles down a smige instead of going up with a stronger piece. Great all around THS or tournament benchmark ball that packs a brutal punch through the pins.

The Storm Axiom is the newest ball designed for the Master Line. It has a brand new core called the Orbital core as well as a brand new cover called the NeX Solid. NeX (Nano Extreme) is Storm's earliest reading cover to date. The combination of the two gives this ball a unique motion that will fit a wide variety of styles. The Axiom reminds me of an earlier rolling Phaze2. While rolling earlier than the Phaze2, the Axiom still generates an angular motion down lane, allowing you to chase the shot left as needed. The Axiom is not quite as smooth as the ProMotion but not quite as angular as the Phaze2. This ball is going to get a lot of play on tour, The last show featured 4 Storm/Roto staffers, 3 of which were throwing the Axiom, including Jason Belmonte, who won his 13 Major title with it. Bowler Bio Gender : Female Rev Rate : 315 Ball Speed: 16.5 mph P.A.P : 4 1/2 & 1-1/8 up I'm am going to try and give my honest opinion on the new Storm Axiom. This is only after drilling one which was pin down I intend on trying another that is pin up to see the difference. Pin Down Review: There was a lot of chatter about how this was going to be one of the earliest if not the earliest balls storm has every produced. With that being said I needed something for my house shot which has very high volume around 8-10 it's the part of the lanes that's given me trouble all year, I've been forced to go around it by moving left. I tried the axiom on the shot but ball has such a smooth and arching shape it started up so early causing it to over hook. It also forced me left for the fact that I don't have the ball speed to get the down the pattern another foot. I could move left and find a nice line with although it still wanted to start up to early at times. I do not see this as a ball that will find its way into my league bag that's for sure. I have seen it work extremely well for high speed / rev rate players on the THS that I bowl with. I did test it on a sports pattern and found I had many different uses for it. Having a slow motion I could actually use it on long ,medium , and short patterns which is a great asset to have in your tournament bag. The Axiom will easily be the earliest rolling Storm ball to date. When compared against another personal favorite benchmark ball, the Phaze 2, I was approximately 2 boards further left and 1 ball further right with my eyes with the Axiom. The Axiom will allow you to open up your angles early and will get the ball started early in the mid's. The Axiom is essentially Storm's version of the Idol although a tad heavier rolling and more continuous down lane. The Axiom will be an excellent choice whether bowling on house or sport conditions. If faced with heavy oil or tight lanes grab the Axiom and watch it shape in the correct part of the lane! Video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fRfY6Av08MI&t=5s"

The Axiom is quite a bit stronger than what I thought it was gonna be especially for our house shot. But that is good because it will give me a ball to take to tournaments that are not on a house shot. When I first threw the ball in practice at league I was like wow, that picks up quick and early. I don't have anything in my back like that. Most of my equipment goes long and pops on the back end. So this ball is definitely going to fill a spot in my tournament arsenal. I decided to bowl a game with it in league the first night of getting it cause I was having trouble carrying and wanted to see what the Axiom would give me. It was in the third game when the lanes start to break down. I definitely had to get it outside, not because it wouldn't hook inside, but because inside it would over-hook on me inside. But it did look really good and I was able to get the 10 out. I didn't leave a 10 at all when I was using it. I used this on the Statue of Liberty one night and my impressions on a sport shot was it looked really good. I was playing around 10 board and the ball was hitting the pocket and carrying for me. I have a tough time on long oil patterns because of my speed and rev rate. I have a hard time getting the 10 to carry leaving quite a bit of weak 10s but this was not the issue with this ball. I am really looking forward to using it on more sport patterns to see what it gives me. Sabrina Groves Storm Advisory Staff

It is really good on the fresh. I like how early it is with the NeX cover. I am also a big fan of the new orbital core that is inside this ball!! It is definitely one of the first balls out of my bag!

Storm is always looking to lead the way in cover stocks and the new NeX (Nano Extreme) is going to push the limits even more. Wrapped around the new Orbital core, the NeX Solid cover reads the lane earlier than the NRG covers. I drilled mine with my favorite pin up layout, 5x5x3. I was a little afraid at first because I wasn't sure how early the ball was going to read the lane but after a few shots, WOW. This ball was easy through the front but when it saw the friction it never quits, it always kept on coming. This ball is quickly becoming one of the favorites in my bag really quick !!!

Layout: 65 x 4 1/2 x 35. I hit my Axiom with a 4000 pad due to the moderate amount of oil in the house that I bowl. The Axiom is the perfect ball for fresh oil lane conditions. Even with the surface change, the Axiom has a ton of mid lane traction, but still has great continuation. Out of box, this ball could handle any amount of oil that you can find. With the surface change, it turned into a medium-medium oil beast. I pair this with my Nuclear Cell for a 1-2 combo that is deadly

I drilled my AXIOM 50 x 4 3/4 x 30. I threw it some at the box of 3000 but adjusted it to 1500 CTD. I threw my AXIOM on the PBA50 Billy Hardwick 44 condition and also on our 40' house shot. On the Hardwick which is a 44'/28.4 mil shot, I got surprisingly good and strong reaction compared to my GRAVITY EVOLVE. There was one pair in the center that I had to go to the EVOLVE because the AXIOM would not grab downlane. What I was seeing compared to the EVOLVE was good downlane motion. When I threw it on my house shot, I had to open up my angles quite a bit as it was very strong compared to my ALL ROAD that I normally throw in that center. I would say the AXIOM is very similar to a PHAZE II with more movement down lane. These 2 should be a good 1-2 punch. I can't wait to drill an AXIOM slightly weaker and smooth it out to use on more medium patterns to take advantage of the good back end motion.

The Axiom is storms newest premier line nano based ball. The orbital core inside the Axiom is a low RG high differential core with a central ball shape. The ball ensures the Axiom transitions smoothly between its stages of precession without sacrificing continuation through the pins. This core is wrapped in a brand new formulation of cover called NEX which stands for nano extreme. This is currently storms earliest reading cover to date and definitely lives up to its name. When first throwing this ball, I got some serious marvel S vibes. It feels very similar with the exception of a little more midlane traction. When compared to the Phaze ll, the Axiom is a zone earlier and much higher friction. I can definitely see myself using the Axiom as a ball to blend heavier league conditions and fresh medium sport patterns. I can also see myself letting it lane shine and using it as a ball down from an Idol or Omega Crux. Storm Axiom Coverstock: NeX Solid Reactive Weight Block: Orbital Core I love when Storm releases a new core and cover combo. With the Axiom, I get to see something totally new. Storm will always have the go-to pieces like the IQ Tour, Hy-Road, and Phaze 2...but nothing is more fun than drilling something I haven't seen before. If you read into the specs and design place of the Axiom, you can expect a Phaze 2 style reaction, just stronger. With a stronger cover, I was worried the Axiom would be a little too early for my style. I drilled mine with my favorite layout, 65x4x30. I was pleasantly surprised with the length I could get with the ball. It is obviously stronger than the Phaze 2 but can still get down lane. The Axiom will be a great house shot ball for a lot of styles. I personally am rev-dominant, so this one will most likely be a tournament or first game league ball for me. This will be a good fit between my UFO and Phaze 2.

The Storm Axiom is like a Phaze II on steroids! This ball picks up much sooner and sharper than any other ball i've seen on the market to date. The unique quality I like about this ball is from the point of grab until is rolls off of the back of the pin deck, it is all 100% continuation! This ball is ideal for medium to heavy oil. Anything less than medium would not be a good fit for this piece because it is too strong. The Axiom allows you to show up on league night and move in with quite a bit of confidence because you know this ball is gonna clear some area and making it back. This ball is definitely a game changer for Storm!

Cover: NeX Solid Reactive Core: Orbital Finish: 3000 RG: 2.48 Differential: 0.050 PAP: 4 7/8 Right 3/8 Up Ball Layout: Pin In Ring 4.5 Pin to PAP 2.5 Inch Pin Buffer The new Axiom from Storm adds a great early-rolling ball to the Master line. To accompany the low RG Orbital Core, Storm developed a new cover. Their previous nano covers have been fantastic for getting the ball to see the mid-lane. The new NeX (Nano Extreme) Solid Reactive cover takes this too the next level. As stated via the company's website: "NeX Solid was remarkably earlier hooking than NRG on any pattern, or any surface we tested it on. The Orbital Core has a distinctly low RG axis which further complements the midlane read for which NeX was developed." The Phaze II is in my opinion perhaps the best ball released in the last 10 years. The clean reaction outperforms any solid ball I've thrown. If there is a single criticism, it's that you sometimes have to wait for the pattern to develop when there is more oil on the lane. I can't tell you how many time I wished I was able to go to my Phaze II sooner. The Axiom is the exact solution to this problem. I first tested the Axiom on a fresh league pattern. The surface in this particular center is a bit higher friction, particularly in the front of the lane. I usually shy away from earlier equipment here. Somewhat fortunately they had just upped the oil in the front of the lane and I ended up having the best ball reaction in the league. Where everyone else was watching their ball skid through the spot they were used to seeing their ball hook, the Axiom was already headed for the pocket. The best surprise of the evening was the fact that I managed to stay in the ball all three games and my scores went up over the night because I didn't lose carry as I moved left. I decided to throw some games with it after the senior league had bowled the next day to see how it would look on an even drier lane with some carry down. I really liked the ball on this condition when I amped the speed up a bit to stay nearer the friction. The ball would slow down just right coming off the friction and surprisingly enough it even carried a bit better than my Phaze II. It didn't start to get lazy until I moved left of 4th arrow. Even then I could keep it in play if i reduced the angle through the front to keep the ball closer to the pocket. This ball creates a perfect option for seeing the even reaction of the Phaze II went the lane is loaded with oil. It also gives you a seamless transition to get to it as the front of the lane opens. The axiom is an exceptional bench-mark when you are expected longer or slicker oil conditions.
