Storm Axiom Bowling Ball

Design is thinking made visual. In Storm’s case, it’s design materialized. We understand that the perceptible is as important as the tangible. NeX (Nano Extreme) is Storm’s earliest reading cover to date. NeX Solid was remarkably earlier hooking than NRG on any pattern, or any surface we tested it on. We love all things new at Storm, and the Orbital Core is no exception. This modern take on an established concept has us stirring with excitement. The Orbital Core has a distinctly low RG axis which further complements the midlane read for which NeX was developed.

Unfortunately, COVID has not allowed me to have as much time on the lanes with this ball as I would have liked before writing a review, that being said... Smooth and predictable. When it comes to bowling these are my two favorite words and that is what you get with the new Axiom from Storm Bowling. I would put it as a step up from my Phaze II. Most likely the first ball out of my bag as it allows me to read the lane so well. It really digs in when going through the mid-lane and I believe the more lane shine this ball acquires the more I will like it. Similar to my Pro-Motion which is one of my favorite balls in my bag and loves lane shine. I think the Axiom with create a nice transfer from the Omega Crux on heavy oil patterns.

Storm Axiom « Reply #5 on: March 22, 2020, 02:52:31 PM » The new ball in Storm's Master line is the Axiom. With a brand new cover called NeX solid for Nano Extreme. Earlier rolling version of the NRG coverstock. Also Axiom has a new Orbital core. I drilled mine 5 x 4 x 1.5 . Wow this ball hooks and corners. I put a little Step 2 compound on it to use it in league. This ball is very strong especially for a symmetrical ball. I had a hard time getting the 9 pin out as the Axiom just keep going. You will need a little oil up front to use the Axiom but its design is for the medium and longer oil patterns. The PBA guys loved this ball at the World series in Las Vegas this year. Great strong rolling but control at the breakpoint bowling ball. It doesnt give you the squirt at the breakpoint like some other balls, but its not flippy either. Id say its more down lane reaction than a Super Soniq and maybe a little more than a Phaze 2. Its just a different shape. Definitely a ball to have in everyone's arsenal. Hello everyone im here to do a ball review on the storm axiom.Storm is using nano extreme cover stock, rg is 2.48,diff 0.050 and another great smelling bowling ball blueberry muffing yum lol great colour choice as well. When I knew storm was coming out with this ball I was excited cause I knew that it would complement my promotion that I absolutely love. The axiom gives me alot more read in the front and alot of midlane and just as smooth as the promotion,a ball ill have in my bag everywhere I go for sure.I left the ball 3000 ab out the box did not change it at all, I can start with it on alot more volume patterns, then I can with the promotion.I did find it to shine up little faster then my other solids but normal for a ball like this.Ive had great success with the promotion now time to have great success with the axiom.

My Stats Right Handed Ball Speed: 17.5 mph Rev Rate: 325 PAP: 5 x1 up Ball Storm Axiom Core: Orbital Cover: NeX (Nano Extreme) Surface: 3000 OOB Layout: 70 x 2.5 x 50 The Axiom, with the all new NeX Coverstock and low rG Orbital Core, is definitely the ultimate definition of "hook in a box". I drilled mine with a smaller pin distance to keep the ball from over-hooking on flat patterns since the cover/core combo want to get the ball started up so early. This has allowed me more miss room on patterns that usually don't give any breaks when you fail to execute. So far I have really liked what the ball gives me as the patterns become more difficult and I am forced to keep my target more in front of me. This is going to be a great addition to my tournament bag for quite a while. See my video and comparisons here: https://youtu.be/dI9aFvpOqn4 Mike Bauer

The Axiom is the latest release in the master line of bowling balls from Storm, the bowlers company. NeX solid (Nano Extreme) is the new cover on the Axiom, and is wrapped around a new core called Orbital core. The color scheme of the Axiom is sky blue, navy, and slate, and has a blueberry muffin scent. The numbers in a 15lb undrilled Axiom are 2.48 rg, and 0.050 differential. The NeX solid cover on the Axiom is the strongest cover to date to be put on a domestic release Storm bowling ball. This cover really creates a lot of traction. I drilled two different Axioms, the first with a 4" pin, and 2.5" pin buffer, the second with a 4.5" pin, and a 4" pin buffer. Comparing both balls at the box finish, the 4.5 X 4 Axiom reacts later on the lane, and the shape off the spot is more rounded and continuous. The 4 X 2.5 Axiom stands up earlier on the lane, and has a more defined shape that rolls forward sooner and heavier towards the pocket. The 4.5 X 4 is better when the backends are really fresh and there is plenty of oil in the heads to get the ball to the spot. The 4 X 2.5 is better when the lane is a little lazier off the spot, but still has that same heavier oil in the front of the lane. I have used the 4.5 X 4 Axiom on patterns with a little less built in hold, and seem to like the 4 X 2.5 when the lane is a little easier because of higher left to right ratios built into the pattern. Using a 4" pin buffer, for me, creates a little tighter flare pattern on the ball, thus keeping the differential of the drilled ball down a bit. This helps me take advantage of the strong cover without too much flare, resulting in me having to give away the pocket too much. The 4 X 2.5 has more distance between the flare rings, and finds it's forward roll point sooner, therefore works better for me if there is more oil downlane. I do not use inserts or a changeable thumb, so my final drill isn't manipulating the core as much as what other bowlers may be able to do. I'm fine with that, as I like to use the drilled ball as close to what the manufacturer intended when they designed it. Comparing the overall shape of the Axiom to an Idol, the Axiom seems to slow down sooner and have more board coverage. It's very similar in shape, just a little more of it; Idol's big brother, if you will. I also like how the Axiom complements my Omega Crux, as a 1-2 punch. The Axiom is better on the fresh, and then transition sees the Omega at its best. I like the Axiom. This is a ball that will help speed dominate players get the ball to slow down sooner and create roll to the pins, and with the right layout, can help heavy handed players control wet-dry conditions. The Axiom is a great ball when you use it how it is intended to be used. Dry lanes wouldn't be the first choice to use an Axiom on. There are plenty of other balls for that kind of condition. Thank you for taking the time to read my review of Storm's master line release called Axiom. Now go bowl up a Storm!!

Storm has created another must have ball with the Axiom. This ball will work for almost any player on heavy house shots, and flat sport shots. The Axiom is incredibly versatile all around. I could get left on my THC and get it back with an enormous amount of carry. When I've used it on shorter sport patterns I was able to get right and stay up the back to open up the lane. Layout we went with was 5x3.5x2. Dont miss out on this incredible ball.

If you loved the Phaze 2 like almost everyone does the Axiom is definitely for you. A stronger overall ball that starts sooner and handles more oil for me then the Phaze 2 but still produces an unbelievable backend motion!!

This is wrapped around the low RG Orbital core. The results are Storm's earliest hooking ball to date. The Axiom definitely lives up to this bill! This ball is incredibly strong front to back on any lane condition. I was most impressed with how continuous the ball was through the pins even with the lower RG and early-hooking cover. At box finish, the Axiom is 3-4 boards stronger than a Phaze 2 and smoother overall. The Axiom will be a great piece for early in league nights when the back ends are flying. This ball will also be a great piece for any sport pattern. Ideally, it will see its' most use for me on medium to heavier patterns. It never seems to change direction quickly, making it one of the most predictable motions I have seen. Tyler Meyer Storm Pro Shop Staff

I tried something different with my Axiom. The layout ended up being 45X3.375X50. The put the pin in my ring finger and the CG 3 inch off the center line. the flare bands are tighter than I expected, but still hooks a good amount. For me the ball is earlier and smoother than the idol. The axiom has the Nex cover ( nano extreme ) 3000 grit surface and the orbital core offers 2.48 RG and .050 Diff at 15 Lbs. This ball plays well in the track for me and with the early motion and I can move right instead of changing balls later in the night. Overall the is a great symmetric solid that offer some versatility.

Storm Axiom 55 x 5 x 25 The Storm Axiom has earned a spot in my bag. I would compare it with a Phaze 2, for me the Axiom feels cleaner and a bit more pop down the lane vs my Phaze 2's. It feels like more overall ball. This one seems to be a ball that I like more the more oil shined it gets. I seem to prefer my P2's duller which makes them more controllable, this ball seems to be the ball I go to from that. So far, it has not stopped running the 8 pin over regardless of how far left I go. Typically, the duller controllable balls start to deflect more the further left you go, so far the Axiom has not done that for me. I would definitely give this one a try!

I'm writing this review late, It's been a tough road for all us during this pandemic and it's a total bummer that it interfered with the Axiom. This ball is special...NEX and the Orbital are perfect together. If you want a big, strong, smooth bowling ball reaction...the Axiom is your ball. I hope it's not lost in the shuffle. #stormnation

The not-so-new Storm Axiom. Thanks to COVID-19, I was just barely able to drill and throw it. I put a 5x4.5 layout on the new Orbital core. Couple of nice surprises here. The new N-E-X surface... is the earliest reading surface storm has. And, while I will say the out of box surface is probably too strong for a house shot, don't be fooled by early read. This ball reads early and then suddenly finds another gear in the hook phase and goes more sideways than I expected. My Omega Crux... with the same layout... while certainly creating more flare reads the lane in a similar fashion. I think these two will complement each other nicely. This ball is a great "replacement" for the Phaze II or a ProMotion. If you liked either of those balls, you'll like the Axiom as well. Storm Axiom Cover: NeX Solid Core: Orbital Layout: 5 x 30 When a ball is said to be the earliest reading cover to date, I naturally don't expect much downlane motion. I don't know how they did it, but that is not the case with the Axiom. Where the Phaze II might skid a bit too much or go a bit too long for a pattern before picking up, I think the Axiom is the logical bump up. It rivals some of my higher end asymmetrical balls in the line in overall hook, but provides a shape more characteristic of symmetrical balls. For me personally, I have had more success on sport patterns with the Axiom since most of the house patterns I bowl on lack enough oil in the fronts, causing the Axiom to pick up too quick. Axiom wow .. The New symmetrical solid from Storm featuring the Nex coverstock. This ball is a beast for a symmetrical it really digs in on the mid lane and has a strong down lane reaction. I have used this ball in league and loved it. Stayed with it all night moving slightly left. Ball is very smooth and predictable for me.

I was very impressed with the Axiom from the first shot I threw with it. It has the Orbital Core found in the entire Crux line, wrapped in the NeX cover stock, which is Storm's strongest cover to date. I am a big fan of the Idol and Phaze 2, and this ball compliments those two very well. I recently used the Axiom in two tournaments, and it was my first ball out of my bag when my asymmetric balls were burning up to soon. The Axiom gives you a strong continuous roll in the mid lane while never stopping down lane. Once the Axiom started hooking too early, I switched to the Idol and it was the perfect step down. The Axiom has earned a permanent spot in my bag. The layout I used is 50X5X25. See My YouTube Review Of The Axiom vs Idol Pearl: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kRPV___RapE

Speed at cameras 15.5 Review: The New Storm Axiom may be my favorite big hooking Storm ball so far! The Axiom is a great core to cover match and even though it reads the lane rather quickly it never quits. Normally I like Asymmetric balls for hook on heavy patterns but the Axiom exceeded my expectations on the wetter lanes. I feel that when using a Symmetric ball like the Axiom, you don't have to move as much or as quickly as when rolling an Asymmetric. The Axiom is very strong but predictable. The Axiom hits and carries great and can be used from different angles with great success. The Axiom also polishes well but still provides a lot of hook potential. The color of this ball is very nice and polish makes it look even better while giving it a bit more length and back end. The Blueberry Muffin Scent is also a fan favorite of my aroma customers. I have been able to use this Strong ball longer than most before I ball down which is good because I do not want to put it down! Summary: The Axiom is very strong and handles wet lanes easily. The hit and carry is fantastic. My customers like the color and the smell! The Axiom will be very popular at our shops. Storm's new Symmetrical ball in the Master Line is the Axiom! This ball is the earliest hooking symmetric ball that Storm has produced! The Coverstock is the NeX Solid Reactive Coverstock wrapped around the Orbital Core! The motion is a very unique one in that the Axiom digs through the midlane pretty well with how early it hooks but it never stops continuing! This actually reminds me of a stronger and more overall motion throughout the lane version of a Phaze 2! My Axiom that I drilled is Pin over my bridge with the CG kicked which is about 4 1/2 inches away from my PAP! Head over to your local Storm VIP Pro Shop and get yours today!

Layout: 70 x 4.5 x 70 my favorite pin below the fingers drilling for flatter conditions 3000 grit box finish 42' house shot with high volume 41' modified house shot on 6 year old lanes with medium/low volume Continuation and power through the pin deck! I drilled 3 of these for 3 completely different styles of bowlers with 3 completely different layouts and all 3 were devastating in the pocket. It's very rare that I get super impressed by how a ball hits the pins, but I am impressed with the Axiom. This ball finished over the 8 pin almost every shot from all 3 bowlers. The NeX cover, although off the top of the chart as the most aggressive Storm Nano cover to date, it felt as if I didn't have to fight it thru the front part of the lane. No doubt it definitely needs some oil in the heads, but not an excessive amount in order to get this ball down the lane. The really low RG Orbital core spins up very quickly like a figure skater when they bring their arms in really close to their body and maintains that all the way thru the pin deck. We saw almost no deflection from this ball when it hit the pocket. The low rev guy could ride the oil line up the track and had a nice smooth, hard motion on the backend. The medium, stroker style bowler was able to play his regular 10 to 5 baby swing and absolutely crushed the pins. I was able to move left of them, between 15 -20 out to 7-8, and this ball mangled the 1-3. Not sure what took out the 9 pin a few shots, but this ball carried everything. It was always on the smooth side and thus never created any weird angles. You can read the lanes and what the ball is going to do very easily, which makes adjustments a cinch. In my tournament bag it would be Stronger than my Pro Motion/Phaze II (first balls out of the bag), but less than my UFO. It fits very nicely in that Medium/Strong Symmetrical spot covering a ton of lane conditions for various styles of bowlers. For leagues, it would be a first ball out of the bag covering everything but the flood or the desert. Hope this helps. #StormNation Ron D'Ambrosio www.stormbowling.com Rdamballreviews

Storm Axiom The all-new Axiom from Storm is gonna be a ball that many will be impressed with. With all that is going on in the world or sometimes releases may come out at the same time and some balls get mixed up or forgotten. This ball is one of the bigger bangs for the price balls. This is going to be your benchmark ball. Just what every league and tournament player needs in their bag, a symmetrical solid reactive strong ball that will let you know whats going on with the pattern that you are bowling on. I did not get as much testing as I would have liked to do to COVID-19. At this time I hope we are all doing our part and we will be back on the lanes soon enough. Speaking only from a fresh THS this ball will not over hook and give you a strong arc roll right into the pocket. The new Axiom brings with it the Orbital Core which is designed to rev up in the mid lane and blend out the end of the pattern. If that wasn't smooth enough, Storm wrapped that Orbital core with the all new NeX overstock. NeX stands for Nano Extreme. NeX is Storms earliest reading cover to date. As I throw some shots here you'll notice that Storm wasn't lying. The Axiom is the definition of hook in the box. It is early and really doesn't shape hard down lane at all. While filming, like with previous strong covered bowling balls, I found that playing to the right didn't allow the ball to retain enough energy to go through the pins. As the videos progress, you'll see me get left and try to spin it through the fronts. Trying to spin it through the fronts was the only was I was able to successfully get my ball to strike. It is so early that it just didn't save up enough energy to retain any energy through the pins. A few shots I leaked to the right and instead of boomeranging off the dry like normal, the axis quickly stabilized and straightened out causing me to flat 10 or leave a light split. What you'll get from this ball is an early heavy rolling shape and a stable axis down lane. Even trying to spin it through the fronts, you'll notice how easily it stabilizes. My most sincere warning are to those who are low speed and/or have high rev rates. If you're looking for an all around user friendly ball, the Axiom is not the one. This ball was designed for one specific purpose: HEAVY OIL. The Axiom will be used on the heaviest of oil patterns because it needs a lot of oil in the heads to help it store energy through the pins. I can't stress it enough, you need a lot of volume for this piece.

The next remarkable benchmark ball to come out of the Storm Plant; the Axiom. The Axiom is the newest addition to the Storm Line. With the all new Orbital Core and the NeX Solid reactive coverstock, the Axiom makes for another dependable benchmark ball that you can rely on that gives the player ultimate control and predictability out of a bowling ball. The Axiom fits between the Phaze 2 and Idol and for the little bit I was able to throw with it, I don't see it as early as an Idol but not as responsive downlane as a Phaze 2. The Axiom can handle more oil better than a Phaze 2. Sometimes, I run into issues where I can't use the Phaze 2 right off the bat to begin a block because it is too responsive downlane, and then when I go to my Idol, it might be too early and not enough downlane. With this Axiom, that problem goes away. As many of you saw, Belmo used two different Axioms on the World Championship show and came away with the win. That just tells you that this ball can be drilled several different ways and handle many different surface adjustments and it seems to get the job done. Get your Axiom as soon as possible and always bowl up a storm! Nate Garcia PBA Regional Champion

The Axiom is the newest Master Line ball from Storm. It has the new NEX coverstock which is Storm's strongest coverstock to date. I was amazed at not only how strong the Axiom is overall but how well the ball still continues down lane. For me, it is about 3 boards stronger compared to the Phaze 2 and continues a little better even still. This ball cant handle a lot of oil while still allowing you to open the lane up if you need to adjust to the inside part of the lane. I was initially thinking that this ball would be too similar to the Pro-Motion but the Axiom is stronger and can be used for longer periods of time. I can see the new NEX coverstock being applied to multiple future balls in the Storm lineup because of the Axiom's success.
