I bought this ball used from good ole e-bay. 15 pounds a 3 inch pin. My ball driller just plug the thumb and viola, it was ready to use. This ball IS A LOT STRONGER THAN THE THUNDER! I don't have the thunderstruck, but this ball can cover some boards. I've only used this ball on some practice conditions, but from some medium, to medium heavy this ball has some getty yup in it. With the inverted core with the moonson cover on it, this ball should be in everyone arsenal. the thunderstruck don't have the ability to turn the corner on the medium condition like this one can. This is the reason that storm came out the t-road solid, i believe! Its too bad that storm won't sell this ball on the open market, It needs a medium ball like this in its product line! Well to my suprise after throwing the ball in a practice league, the ball came back with a crack in it! After searching Ebay and other ball reviews, I found someone willing to part with another dark thunder. I'll write another review af

I love this ball. From fresh oil to lanes with plenty of carrydown this ball performed extremely well. I got this for league play and in my first game on fresh oil I bowled 40 pins above average. My next game was 14 pins above average and the three games together were 50 pins above average. In practice after league I rolled a 233 which is very good for me, and some other solid games as well. During the evening I played between the first to third arrows and found the ball very versatile. I haven't tried to go real deep with it, but I would guess that this ball can handle angle as well as it handles down and in. This ball was put in limited release during the summer and they aren't as available as they could be. My pro says that the T-Road Pearl is similar in reaction.

Last time I'd bowled was 1979. Wanted a versatile, predictable ball that is also strong and takes advantage of today's technology. I want to work on re-learning the game without thinking about the ball. Picked this on advice and reviews. Runners up: Roto Grip Horizon, Storm Thunderstruck Pearl, and Storm Spitfire---all touted as versatile and predictable balls. Drilled using Storm Pro #3 pattern: http://www.stormbowling.com/pdf/drill_specs/pro.pdf Boy...was I surprised. Astonished! In spite of my rust and many poor shots, this ball gave an excellent combination of skid, roll and arcing backend on freshly oiled wood lanes. And it destroyed pins. Good hits just blew them off the deck. Brooklyn hits were money. As games progressed, I learned what I could do with the ball. It let me control it. I could give it more hand and get more break. With a little more loft and soft hand I could slide it over to hit 10 pin spares without much trouble. Easy to read.

This ball is by far storms best release in some time, I found it by accident, only a few people online have them, I ust drilled a spitfire a few weeks ago, but didnt do what i thought it was going to do, drilled this ball across the label, (im a lefty) ball rolls hard from the corner, it spools up and turns for the pocket more consisentley and forgivingly than ant ball i have had in quite some time, i have a hot rod super sport, pinned up and polished, love it have 2 300s with it, have 300 and 800 with my super charge, THE best storm ball ever next to Dark Thunder, this thing has incredible ball motion it turns on a strong arc and never stops!! buy 2 you wont regret it! i WILL have another one shortly.

This ball is easy to adjust with because of it's smooth reaction. The coverstock is easy to tweak for more hook or more skid. The smell is good without being overpowering.I have drilled a few of these for customres with the same results for them. I have ordered another to be put in my closet for future use. At out of box finish it does need oil to work as it is just too strong otherwise. The solid black color is refreshing in that it brings back a feeling of nostalgia. Some customers have wanted a plain looking ball for a while and now have one that works as well as looks good

I drilled this ball up to be my main ball for medium/medium-heavy conditions. I have a stroker release, so I drilled it up for the recommended high flare drilling. With my release and the current drilling that I have, this ball makes a strong turn in the middle of the lane and hits like mack truck. This ball will definitely get people's attention. I have also experimented with tweaking the coverstock, and it seems like this ball could be easily tweaked for different lane conditions. I have tried the ball polished, and it worked really well for me on drier lanes. I also tried to sand this ball to 600, but I don't play on oily enough conditions to warrant this sort of thing. In the end, it ended up back in its 1000 grit matte finish. I would also like to say thanks to Storm for putting out a sweet plain-colored ball. It seems like bowling balls are looking tackier as days go by. Logos get bigger and bigger and coverstocks look uglier and uglier. This is a nice bre

Overall I think this is a great benchmark ball. If your looking for a ball to line up with or if your just struggling and need some cofidence this is the ball for you. Two other guys at my house have this ball as well, mine and another guys tend to hook alittle more early, my buddy thats strokes it up the wood loves it because it has a really nice smooth, controlable hook to the pocket I hate the min word thing on here they should really change it I hate the min word thing on here they should really change it

The Dark Thunder is the rebirth of the Storm Thunder Road. This ball uses the same great core that was in the Thunder Road but with the Monsoon blended coverstock. This ball comes out of the box at about 800 grit sanded ready for oily lane conditions. This baby shines up nice for lighter volumes of oil with no problem! We have put several dozen of theses balls on the lanes with everyone claiming that it is their best "all purpose" ball in their bags. We have had several bowlers purchase a second and third Dark Thunder just to have back ups when they wear the first ones out since this is a "Limited Production Ball" by Storm. This ball is smooth and controllable. Ton's of hitting power! If you are a league bowler who only wants to carry one ball in your bag that can hit a variety of lane conditions, then the Dark Thunder is your ball. This ball is driller friendly and can match up with any style of bowler. Consult your local Proshop Professional for your pesonal needs whe

Purchased on January 21st at K & K Bowling in Las Vegas, NV. Had ball drilled by Mike Miller at 10 Pins and More in Rio Rancho, NM. Ball came 15lbs. 4 Ounces with a 3.5" Pin, and 3.4 Ounces of Top Weight. Ball is laid out with the Pin over the Ring finger and CG swung to the right of Grip CL. Per Mike's suggestion had him polish the ball up before I even threw it for the first time. The ball on my typcial house condition(Synthetics 38' of oil buffed to 45') reacts very similarly to my X-Factor Ace(polished) drilled with the same layout. The ball does carry very well on the light hits but has a tendency to leave a lot of 10 pins on flush hits. I think I will tinker with the coverstock (more polish or maybe a light sanding) to see if it changes the ball reaction and starts to kick out the 10's. Overall a very high flaring hooking piece from Storm, actually turns heads due to the solid black color(especially when highly polsihed). Hope this review helps others in selecting a new ball
