I have this ball drilled as suggested by Brian LeClair of Roto Grip with the pin in the ring finger and cg stacked below the ring finger for use on burnt lanes. It tracks between the finger and thumb holes, but man does this drilling work well for me. It rolls through the heads then "pops" and makes a nice semi-strong arc left and hits like a Mack truck! I can slow the speed down and turn it a little more for a nice consistent hard arcing motion as well. Nice and controllable and easy to read. This ball doesn't like a lot of oil, but works great on medium to light conditions.

This is a very nice peice for anyone to put in their bag. It is one of the most versitale balls in my bag( ultimate inferno, paradigm, and buzzsaw golden nugget). I haven't run into a condition in which the ball doesn't work yet. I can't say enough about the carry, it doesn't seem to matter how the ball hits the pocket the pins just fly all over the place. The ball has enough backend to recover from those erant shots that miss the target to the right. The only things I have found that I don't like about the ball is that it is very speed sensative. Although it may calm down the more games it gets on it ( roughly 15-18 games on it right now). Some of the speed sensativity could be that the ball is polished and is drilled for a strong backend reaction. If you miss the target to the right the ball turns and hits with alot of angle and has a tendency to leave the 10 pin. Overall this is an AWESOME ball for the amount of money. It is every bit as reliable as all the other balls

You want value for your money? Here it is! This ball is VERY strong for the amount of money you will pay for it, it is smooth off the spot and extremely easy to control and read. This ball flat hits! It looks good going down the lane and on the shelf (as long as some of the insecure fellas can get over the purple lol). There really isn't anything to dislike here, just go out and get one! This ball will fit anyones game coditionally at the very least. Jason Hoff, Roto Grip Staffer and Precision Bowling Services

Ball specs – 15 lbs 4 oz, 2.96 top weight, 2.75 inch pin. Punched this Roto-Grip planet ball 4.75” X 45 degrees with the pin below the ring finger about ½ inch. Also took the cover up to 1000 and polished with Storm Reactashine. The cover stock seems to take adjustments very well as it sanded and polished easily. With any oil in the heads, the Saturn provided very easy length through the fronts and into the late mid-lane. When friction was found in the back, the ball responded with a smooth arc and hit surprisingly well for an entry-level product. With some carry down in the back the Saturn seemed to hit a bit weak as plink 10’s were the result. Creating more axis rotation solved this issue as the Saturn responded well to hand position changes. The Saturn remained smooth and predictable even with the additional axis rotation. The Saturn, and the entire Roto-Grip entry level Planet line, provides the best performance for the price in the industry. John Brodersen <scri

This is a way better ball than what i thought is was going to be when i purchased it. I drilled the ball with the pin 6 & 1/2 inches from PAP so it is over my middle finger and the cg is 4 & 1/2 inches from my PAP. There is a ballance hole in the side but i just brought the ball back to legal. The ball goes realy long and makes a good hard smoothe turn to the pocket. Smoothe is the key word here. I have a ton of hand and i am realy up the back of the ball so it is hard for me to get a smoothe reaction out of anything. I like to play this ball when the lane break down a bit and just let it walk from about 15 to 10 and let the ball do all the work.

For an entry level ball this is a bargain! Pro shop owners looking for an better product your clients will appreciate have found a great resource. The Saturn has a strong reactive coverstock when the entry level pearls just won't due. Great for beginners and bowlers with slower ball speeds. The Orbiter core gets down the lane with no effort. However the backend reaction is spectacular. The ball transitions smoothly into a strong position without over reaction that you'll find in the pearl coverstocks. For the experienced bowler when the oil pattern becomes non-existent, this is a great go to ball, keep it in the bag. Kelly ODriscoll Roto Grip Staff

I was throwing a HIGH REV and an ULTIMATE INFERNO- no match- my high rev gave me my first 723 series, but the lane was "really" "pretty" that day. The Ultimate Inferno- I was not consistent with. The Saturn gave me consistency in my bowling. My average was climbing when I started using this ball- I don't use it much when it is oily or VERY dry out there. But I have picked up 90% of my TEN pins with this ball..I like it alot!!! I just started bowling religiously this past season, so therfore, I need alot of help. BUT my average went from 150's from last year to 180 this year.

I’ve used this ball on a house pattern and a flatter tournament pattern. I’m in the middle range with a rev rate around 300+ and average ball speed at about 17.5. Layout is 4.75 x 3.75 from my PAP which is 5.25 over and .5 up. I used it on a fairly wet house pattern and a short tournament pattern so far. This is probably the strongest ball on the market at this price range. I found that I could do almost anything I want with this ball with the factory finish. With a strong release and a little extra loft I could get this ball to turn the corner like a high priced ball. It’s not extremely angular at the back end but strong and continuous. I’m assuming, that with a little polish it will show a nice crisp back end snap, as that is what I find with it’s sister, the Mercury, which uses the same type weight block. And at the same time the carry was great with the pins staying low. With a weaker release and a little extra speed it was easy to keep this ball on line playing straighter up the bo

I drilled up the Saturn with pin below ring finger no hole. Polished her up with 1000 grit. For me this ball gets thru the heads nicely and is very smooth on the backend. This ball is much stronger than the mercury. I think that this ball is great for those typical wet/dry house shots. With this ball you won't get the over reaction off the spot. As a pro shop guy you can't beat the performance of this ball for the price. I don't think you will find a ball that hooks this much for $110. If you are looking to combat super strong backends or broken down tournament shots, give this baby a try.

I drilled mine negative cross label in order to be an opposite for my mercury. This ball gets through the heads very clean, especially polished. On on fresh heads or 40' shots this ball becomes even more clean through the heads. However, in order to play these patterns I've found that the backs have to be clean. Also, my ball control has to be on point in order to keep the ball from being too angular on the back. I keep recommending this ball to my right handed customers that want a little bit of a smoother reaction then their Mercury. It is another good piece from Roto Grip and like all of them, it retains energy to scatter the pins on the deck.

To see my personal bowling specs please see my profile. A pic of the ball that I am reviewing now can be found here: http://i67.photobucket.com/albums/h305/Roto-Mat/Saturn.jpg Ball Stats: Pin Location: 5.5" Over Bridge Mass Bias Location: 65 Degrees Weight Hole: None Personal Favorite Surface Condition: Polished or White Scotch Brite Review: Conditions I would consider using this ball on: Shorter patterns Choppy head oil Later league or tournament blocks If I am bowling on a short sport or house pattern, this is one of the first balls out of my bag. This ball is great for those down and in outside lines where other balls will either burn up too soon or are unable to stay outside long enough to take advantage of these angles. Another condition I have found this ball usefull is when medium patterns are going through transition in the front part of the lane. This ball simply ignores the dry boards in the heads, also making this a prime ball for me to use when bow

I had this ball drilled pin out (3 inches) with the pin above and directly between the middle and ring fingers and the cg bounced out quite a bit with a small weight hole. Out of the box finish. I have to admit that this ball hits very hard! I tested this ball on a left over house shot on old Brunswick synthetic lanes. This ball goes down the lanes relatively straight and smooth, but amazes me on how much backend it has! I love how the Saturn is so smooth going through the oil pattern. I am a whole arrow to the right when I throw this ball compared to my Epic Battle and Oracle bowling balls. The Saturn is definitely the “go to” ball after the transition is dead and gone, and the lanes are beginning to open up some more. I also do not have a problem moving into 4th arrow with the Saturn since it still recovers and carries real well. This ball still needs a little bit of head oil to work or else the backend will be too much for the ball. This ball is real touchy on heavy oil condi

I compared the Saturn to the Mercury In a world where Dollars vs. performance The Saturn surpassed the Mercury which is surprising Going by the specs The Saturn is much stronger than the ball specs suggested. If you like the Mercury which in my thought was the most under rated mid price or mid condition ball to date. Factory finish 800 Machine Sanded The cover stock is very adjustable and the large core stores energy Very clean thru the heads nice mid-lane read and smooth STRONG arcing transition on the back end This offering from Roto Grip should not be overlooked by anyone. What more can you ask for

The Satrun is much stronger than the ball specs would suggest. This offering from Roto Grip should not be overlooked by anyone. The coverstock is very adjustable and the large core stores enegry like I could not believe. very clean thru the heads nice mid-lane read and smooth strong arcing transition on the back end with a resounding whollup at the pins,It takes to hand adjustments and is playable on all but the exteremes. I would also add that if you are in a slump or struggling with lane conditions you should punch one of these gems up right away. ROTO GRIP- KING OF THEM ALL
