This ball is AMAZING for extremely dry- medium lane conditions. I threw a friends on a fresh house shot and I thought it was so good on the burned up pattern that I should try one for myself. one of the best balls I have ever thrown. I have it drilled stacked with the pin just above and centered between the finger holes. due to the flip on the ball I can throw it up an outside line, or through oil on almost any pattern. for a skid flip ball it has a great margin for error, if you miss your mark right it flips early and comes charging back.

I was looking for a cheap junk ball to throw when the lanes dried and the heads were going away. I found this Neptune and looked up the specs. Seemed like it fit the purpose and bought it. I drill my own equipment but did nothing except follow the drill sheet. During a practice session after the line had gone from my Centaur, Rising and NV I pulled out the Neptune amid some caustic comments about my pretty ball - and it is. It also managed to pin back ears with a 229 out of the box. Standing on 15 throwing out to 10 the ball made a long run up the lane, making a snappy arc to the pocket - rack gone - time and time again. Never had any ball that was that much of a surprise out of the box.. As the lanes dried out further I moved left to stay in oil. Best junk ball I ever bought.! My three partners have also odered one for themselves now! Guess they wanted a pretty ball too... Bottom line: Impressive UNDERRATED ball for a great price. I have used this ball for about 15 games or so. I left the ball at box finish. It has the hitting power of a mack truck. It didnt even need messagers it just hits solid. I can use this on a variety of shots, i just have to make a few adjustments. I can't swing it out to far on heavy shots it just dies. I had shot my 300 on a house shot. it was on sythetic lanes. I happen to be the youngest to shoot it in the state of Nebraska. I had bowled it at Sunvalley lanes.

Drilled pin 1" above fingers, centered, and cg stacked in center of palm. This drilling allows me to use this ball on medium to light conditions depending on my release. For light oil condiions, I'll roll my hand straight up the back of the ball and it will roll through the heads and pick up about 30-35 feet and make a smooth arc to the pocket. For medium conditions, I will swing it from 15 to 3, and turn it so that it will make a strong skid-snap reaction. As long as there is a little dry for it to grab, this thing will turn. Too much oil and carrydown will make it squirt and go long. Another great ball from Roto Grip!

The very first night that i came in to use this ball i was able to go up 5 board on a fresh oil shot then as the night moved on and 5 board hooked too much i switched to my high hooking ball and played a swing. then as that shot dryed up i moved back to my neptune and scored in the 200's wen i threw the ball well. this ball works the best i've ever seen on dry lanes. when lanes dry up this ball is definetly the one to go to, i played a swing from 20 to 10 with this ball and i came back strong when i trusted the ball to come back and didn't over rev it.

Ball specs – 15 lbs 0 oz, 3.34 top weight, 3.25” pin. The Neptune was drilled with a 4.75 X 65 degree layout. This put the pin ¾ of an inch above the ring finger and the non-marked mass bias ½ inch right of the thumb. The Neptune provided me with the cleanest look through the front ends of any Roto-Grip ball to date. It also appeared to roll smoother (less early lope) than the other “Planets”. The backend reaction was a strong arc and for an “entry level” bal” the hit and carry was very good. While still not an orb for burnt conditions, the Neptune is Roto-Grip’s weakest “Planet” release to date. On light oil conditions it will provide a very clean front end with a predictable backend move and very good carry. The Neptune is another great release in the can’t be beat, “Bang for the Buck” Planet line. John Brodersen

hello my name is matthew stromberg on the roto grip advisory staff and today i am reviewing the newest addition to the roto grip family, which happens to be a continuation on the MUCH ACCLAIMED "planets" series (saturn, mercury, venus...) earlier, roto grip has released a solid coverstock through the Saturn, then a pearl reactive coverstock with the mercury, next came a pearl particle coverstock with the Venus, and now finally, the neptune has a pearl reactive coverstock with an all new core design and .010 lower on the differential as compared to the venus, mercury, and saturn which is the reason why this ball gets further down the lane while having more intense hitting power!!! the first neptune, i drilled with pin directly below the fingers and cg bounced out with a 3 inch pin and to get the "best" reaction, i scuffed the ball all the way around lightly with a green pad. this ball is amazing and moves down the lane like no other ball i have had. of all the entry level balls roto gr

aaaaaa aaa a aaaaa aaaaaa aaaaaaa aaaaa a aaaaaaa aaaaa aaaaaa i said everything i wanted to in the likes and dislikes section so i dont know why i have to write a 100 word review i think this ball is great i bowled a 740 the first tiem out with it on the desert shot of my alley, it worked great whether it be an up and in shot or a full swing shot it reacted very little on heavy oil so ill put it back in the bag and pull out my NV ... .. .... how much more do i have to write its a little annoying i cant believe how bored you must be to read this far

I did a 5 inch drilling on my Neptune with the pin under my fingers and the cg kicked out to the right giving me a little negative side weight. This drilling makes the reaction more controllable. On this ball, since the differential is so low, I do have to get the ball to the dry, but when I do I get a nice smooth arc, instead of a jerk off of the breakpoint. The Neptune has good hitting power, and will be a good ball for higher rev players and beginners both. Just about everyone will have a place in their bag for this ball.

This ball is as smooth as any ball I have seen in its price range in a long time. Starts a lot quicker than you might think and is very archy. Hits adequately and keeps the pins low. This ball has good shelf appeal and looks darn good going down the lane. I'd be willing to bet that, along with the Saturn, this ball would be a great ball to help ease the transition from a player who has been throwing primarily urethane into reactive equipment. Most anyone could throw this ball and like it outside of players with low revs and high ball speed. Jason Hoff, Roto Grip Staffer and Precision Bowling Services
