I like this ball and will be a great go to ball from the SAGA. The factory finish is nice but may need to shine it up a bit more to delay the backend turn 5000 may be a good number for this ball.. This would allow a tighter line to the pocket. Be interesting to try this ball on the CHEETAH pattern. The Illusion/Saga and Cell are great balls from RotoGrip and compliment each other well. Just make sure you make the quick decision as to which ball to use on the existing oil pattern. The RotoGrip manufacturer is doing a fine job with equipment.<sc

The first time I used the Illusion it was during league play on a house shot and I shot 705, then I used it at a Masters qualifying tournament on a sport condition and shot 645 for the first three games of the qualifying block. The versitility that this ball has is the biggest upside to this ball. The ability to play a variety of lane conditions with this ball is a big advantage as well. The only patterns that I wouldn't use this ball on is when the lanes are extremely dry or have a lot of heavy oil. Definitely an important ball for any players arsenol when trying to attack PBA patterns, sport patterns, house shot patterns, and more. When you have a good line to the pocket the carry that this ball creates is amazing. Mike Keily - Roto Grip Amateur Staff

Excellent Ball. Carries the world...and hooks on just about everything. Dramatically reduced the number of tens i was leaving on great flush shots. I love this ball on everything from fresh house shots...to the ridiculous sport shots that collegiate bowling has to offer. Carries just about the entire rack...even on super light or super high shots...and there is almost always a messenger or two flying around. also keeps the pins very low to the deck..which is also a plus. This ball is by far one of the best balls that I have ever thrown. Way to go Roto.

This is a must have ball. Unless you throw the ball really hard with a minimal amount of revs, there will always be patterns in which this ball looks fantastic! I drilled mine stacked just outside the ring with the cg on the midline w/no hole. It rolls strong and continuous and picks up the middle on everything but the heavier/longer patterns, yet it still doesn't hook too early on dry. This is a very very versatile ball. It hits like a ton of bricks, but it still keeps the pins low. All in all, it was the perfect addition to the Roto Grip line. Jason Hoff, Precision Bowling Services and Roto Grip Staff Member

When I first drilled my Illusion, I couldn't really use it. I drilled it with the new dual angle layout, the first angle is 30 degrees with a 4" pin from my PAP, the second angle is 70 degrees. I was hoping that would give me a smooth reaction, but the box finish the ball was just a little skid flippy for me. So, I took the polish off and put 4000 abralon on it. That made a huge difference for me. The ball is much smoother off the break point now. I can use the ball more often now.

Illusion Roto Grip has made some suttle changes to the mid performance line. The ball is in the mid line category but will perform against any of the high performance line. By increasing the RG on the Helios core and adding the Ultimate Vision pearl reactive coverstock reserved for the performance line. Roto Grip has created a new benchmark in bowling. The results of these changes give the Illusion a little more versatility on the lanes and why it's now the first ball out of the bag. It was designed to overwhelm the house shot and it does. Very smooth down the lane as with all RG balls using the Ultimate Vision coverstock. Nice controllable move off the spot. If you have carry down adjust the surface for grip in the middle. The red/blue cover is also very appeasing to the eye, nice looking down the lane and cheap on the wallet. I'm really impressed with the success I've had with the Illusion. 2 300's the first 2 times out with it, and a 290 2 weeks later

This is the ball to fill in the gap arsenal between the Venus/Mercury line I drilled with pin directly below the fingers and cg bounced out with a 2 inch pin and to get the "best" reaction, I scuffed the ball all the way around lightly with a gray pad. This ball is the picture of flexibility. Depending on how you lay it out it can be your best Mid to dry lane ball, Intense hitting power on backend. very controllable. Also, ball has .010 lower then the Saturn, .018 differential than Venus, and Mercury's Its easy to read, easy to predict, hits like a truck, easy to control and it only seems to get better the more you throw it.( break the shell ) This ball is a must have for every arsenal. looks nice and to rolls real sweet plus keep the pins fairly low. essential in getting carry on today’s lane conditions Great looking as it goes down the lane and on the shelf or your bag!
