Roto Grip Hustle HSB Bowling Ball

(14 reviews) Write a Review
CORE... Inside you will find the now famous Hustle™ Core which measures in at more of a medium rg number. Not too high and not too low, it measures in just right. While the core differential measures in at a lower value for more control down lane. COVER... Wrapped with the proven VTC-H18™ Hybrid Reactive Coverstock, you notice that even though this ball comes out of box factory shined, it will still provide plenty of traction and down lane reaction. CONDITION... Ideal for those Lighter to Medium Oil conditions due to the dynamic combination of core and hybrid cover at a cost friendly price. Compared to the rest of the Hustle line, this ball will be a little longer than the Hustle INK, but not as long as the Hustle 3TP or Hustle Au.

I drilled the Hustle HSB with a specific reaction in mind, and I got what I wanted, and even a bit more. To have a controllable ball reaction to use when the lanes get wet/dry or over/under, I drilled the HSB with a 1 1/2 pin to my p.a.p. I then hit the ball with an old 3000 pad to take a bit of the shine off. What I got was a ball that has enough traction that I can actually use it, using straighter angles, on fresh conditions. What I did not expect, however, was that it would still have enough backend that I could move left and use it when the lanes are broken down, as well. I am happily surprised by the amount of downlane traction that the HSB possesses. It has turned out to be very versatile, and a great addition to my bag.

Very happy with the additions to the HP1 line, I believe that this might be the most overlooked series. When it comes to shooting high scores most people think you have to spend top dollar to get those results. The hustle line proves that you can get great quality for an even better price. When it comes down to the three new hustles I felt that I matched up with this one very quickly. It didn't take long for me to like the shape and get comfortable with it. While being clean through the front part of the lane, I liked how it did not go as long as the 3TP and the AU. Made me have more confidence that it would recover and still have hitting power. I would say compared to the 3TP it was only about a board difference but felt the shape of the HSB was a bit more even and predictable. I could see this ball getting a full time spot in my bag.

The drilling I have in my Hustle HSB is a pin over my bridge layout about 4 1/2 inches away from my pap. One of Roto Grip's new HP1 new releases is the new Hustle HSB which has the VTC-H18 1500 grit Polish factory finish including the well known Hustle Core. This for me is a smoother shape than one of my favorites Hustle Ink. This new Hustle is another great addition to the entry level bowling balls that can be used on the light-medium oil patterns. I see myself using this ball later in a tournament when the lane conditions start to get beat up but also to play a little straighter on your typical house shot. Hustle HSB The VTC-H18 Pearl Reactive Cover is combined with Hustle Core (one of my all-time favorites). The Hustle HSB in my opinion sets up about 5 feet sooner than the Hustle AU & 3TP (please see previous reviews). It's the perfect fit between the Hustle Ink and Hustle AU or 3TP. The Hustle HSB is a great Symmetrical ball and a perfect addition to the HP1 line. Ball Specs: Roto Grip Hustle HSB Hybrid Reactive Cover stock. Weight Block Hustle™ Core (Symmetrical) Color Silver Pearl / Black Solid Finish 1500-grit Polished Layout 45 x 4 x 45 Bowler Specs: Right Hand. PAP 5" Over 1/2 up Rev Rate 300. Tilt 20. Rotation 50. Speed at release 17 Review: The Roto Grip Hustle HSB is another nice option into the Hustle line due to Hybrid cover. I really like that in the Hustle line there are three options of cover to tune in the ball reaction you want. Roto has the Ink for early and smooth, the AU for length and backend and the HSB that wedges nicely between the two, The Smokey Grey color is excellent and we have sold more than a few based just on color. The HSB looks great with green grips and a green thumb slug to match the logos. I was looking for a ball that would pick up a bit sooner than my Hustle AU so I punched up the HSB. The difference is not real big with my lower rev rate but was just what I was looking for. The HSB reads the lane earlier than my AU and is smoother off the spot. The hit is better than expected for a ball at this low price point. It has been an easy sell to my customers due to the price, performance and color. The HSB is a nice option when lanes are medium to dry or get a bit squirrely. It plays well on a wet dry house shot and can be a good control ball with smaller pip to PAP distances. We will be keeping the Hustles at our shops to help our customers bowl better at an extreme value. Summary: The Hustle HSB is the Hybrid in the Hustle Line. The Color of the HSB is very appealing to bowlers. The performance is better than the price you pay. Glenn Wendel PBA Member Storm Pro Shop Staff gwendel@comcast.net www.stormbowling.com

The Hustle HSB is one of three new low end releases from Roto Grip. The Hustle HSB has the same Hustle Core wrapped around the HTC-H18 Hybrid coverstock. This will give bowlers a weaker option when tackling very dry house shots or when the lanes break down and players want to stay farther right, especially low rev rate players. When the front part of the lane goes away from the bowlers that have the higher rev rates, straighter players can stay right with this ball giving them a ball that can get through the front part of the lane with ease and still give them plenty of back end from a lower end bowling ball. This Hustle HSB is different then the other two Hustle coming out. This one is wrapped in a hybrid coverstock. What that means is that its part solid and part pearl. Out of the 3 new Hustle's, this one is going to be the most aggressive because of the coverstock being stronger. You'll see out of the Hussle HSB be a little earlier and smoother than the other two Hustle's. This one is by far my favorite of the three because it gives me a smooth and predictable shape and is still strong enough to go left with. I think you'll see what I'm talking about when you go out and get yours! Nate Garcia PBA Regional Champion

Orientation: Right Handed Rev Rate: 375 RPM Speed: 16-17 MPH PAP: 4 5/8 straight across Location: Enterprise Park Lanes, Springfield MO Pattern: High Volume THS Dual Angle: 5 ½, 4, 4 Oh boy more HUSTLES! I love my Hustle INK and I'm always looking for the next best shape. Roto Grip changed the cover to a hybrid and I love the result. The Hustle HSB looks great, but I love the reaction more! It's cleaner than the Ink with the same great Hustle motion! Perfect ball for friction or late in the day transition.

The HP1 line at Roto Grip has been extremely successful with the Hustle series. The Hustle HSB is one of the newest additions and is a perfect fit in the line. I still love the Hustle Ink, especially when the lanes hook and require a weaker, cleaner ball. The new Hustle HSB has the same engine as the other Hustle balls, but this one has a hybrid cover, which for me, gives me a quicker response time down lane. I've drilled one Hustle HSB so far and it absolutely serves a purpose. I drilled it with the layout of: 5 x 4 and a surface of 2000. I've had the most success when the front of the lane is on fire, I need something to clear the front easily, as well as needing some shape down lane. Because it's a hybrid cover, I have the response time a bit quicker than the Hustle Ink (solid coverstock). I think this ball will be most useful on shorter-medium length patterns when the asymmetrical and strong symmetrical balls are too strong. If you feel like you need a ball to use when the front of the lane hooks and the rest of your bag is too strong, the Hustle HSB could be a perfect addition to your bag. #SquadRG

Hustle HSB This new hybrid Hustle is the strongest and smoothest of any other current Hustle, and once again is packed a lot of performance in a low price point ball. These newer pearl Hustles seem slightly weaker than their previously released counterparts but the HSB stands out as the strongest and smoothest shape. This is a great piece for those looking for a weaker ball that is slower response to friction.

The Roto Grip Hustle HSB is that ball surprise you a pearl version of a HYB. I used a 4 x 3 layout on mine this gives me a very clean look in the mid lane and stronger down lane motion. A great addition to the Hustle line. Stronger than the other new Hustles and a nice bridge between the Ink and the AU.

Roto Grip Hustle HSB Coverstock:VTC-H18™ Weight Block: Hustle™ Core Factory Finish: 1500-grit Polished Radius of Gyration: 2.53 Differential: 0.030 With the release of 3 new Hustle's, 1 hybrid and 2 pearls, I figured a comparison between these and the Hustle INK would be the best way to review them. The Hustle HSB hooks a couple boards more than any other Hustle, and once again has packed a lot of performance in a low price point ball. The price point would make a buyer assume it is a light oil piece but if you are looking for that, look towards the Storm Tropical Surge. The Hustle HBS will be as much on a typical house shot as will will be on lighter oil. The HYB is a very smooth and controllable ball. I drilled mine to move a touch earlier than my hustle ink, AU, and 3TP. I also plan to take it to a 1000 or 2000 sanded finish to help with the slightly earlier read. My Hustle-only arsenal was built as follows: HSB early/strongest/smooth INK long/strong/smooth AU long/medium/slightly more angle than above 3TP longest/medium/most angle of the group ****AU and 3TP left at box finish, drilled differently****

The Hustle HSB is by far my favorite of the three new Hustles. For me this ball based on the way I drilled it (30 x 5 x 80) revs up in the front part of the lane and offers a nice motion downlane. Typically I use the layout above on the smaller cores because it helps get them started so that they are not stupid angular downlane. Compared to the other Hustles released, the Hustle HSB is the overall strongest. It forces me the most left and has the most overall motion. This ball compared to others in the Roto Grip line: Its similar in overall motion to a wrecker, just on the weaker side. I think players who throw it slow are going to like this piece on the house patterns because they can knock the box shine off of it and it will allow them to play deeper in the puddle, where as the other two Hustles force you further right. I also think this ball will be handy for the tournament players because it provides consistent motion and will be perfect as were the others for your higher friction surfaces and lower volume pat

Video: https://youtu.be/lDr0_GSdDU4 Ball Review: The Hustles will be a great option on those lower to medium volume oil patterns or transitioned lanes where the fronts have gone away. The Hybrid will be a smoother more controllable reaction than the pearl whereas the latter will provide cleaner/more angular motion downlane. I did a pin down layout on the hybrid as I would want that as my first go to ball to keep my angles in front of me. Plus the solid within the hybrid allows this additional control. On the 2 pearls I placed a pin down and pin up on each to see the different shot shapes. With the pin down compared to the hybrid I saw a lot more length and responsiveness downlane than the hybrid. With the pin up pearl compared to the pin down pearl there was definitely a lot more length and angle to that ball. Wtih each of the 3 new Hustles there will be a step down from each ball - Hybrid to pin down pearl to pin up pearl. Those who were a fan of the previously released Hustles or those looking for a weaker/cleaner piece in their arsenal the newly released Hustles will be a great option to choose from.

For the price point this is a great ball .. Out of the box this ball is a 1500 polished hybrid. Hit it with a 1000 abralon by hand and immediately loved the reaction. On a house shot it gets through the heads really reads the mids well and def turns the corner for me. When this ball makes the turn it goes and strong through the pins. Also a bug fan of the color scheme on this ball looks great going down the lane
