Motiv Thrill Magenta/Wine Pearl Bowling Ball

(8 reviews) Write a Review
Designed for lighter oil conditions, the Thrill™ provides length and control when lanes are dry and friction is high. Featuring the new Flux™ weight block, the Thrill™ has a higher RG to delay ball reaction and create the length needed on light oil patterns. It also has a very low differential to minimize track flare and provide ball motion control at the backend of the lane. The new Agility XP (Striking Precision) Reactive cover stock on the Thrill™ complements the performance attributes of the Flux™ weight block making it ideal for dry lanes. Both the Wine/Magenta Pearl and the Blue/Purple Pearl Thrill balls feature a 5500 Grit LSP surface finish. The Thrill is available at an incredibly attractive price point, but it’s not just a great option for bowlers buying their first ball. We’ve been very intentional about designing a piece that higher rev competitive bowlers will appreciate because it pushes further down the lane before making a move on dry lanes.

The MOTIV THRILL is a true light oil ball. It features the FLUX core and the Agility XP Reactive cover. It comes in 5500 LSP. In 16lb it has an RG of 2.57 with a max diff. of .013 and in 15lb it has an RG of 2.57 with a max diff. of 0.15. This ball has been a lot of fun to bowl with. I have one ball drilled pin high and one ball drilled pin below. The pin up ball gives me a little more length but once this ball makes its move to the pocket you better watch out. It hits hard and continues through the pocket just like the high end balls. The pin down ball give me an earlier reaction on the lanes when I am seeing the pin up ball coming into the pocket a little late. These two compliment each other well because of the different drills and this was what I was hoping for.

I drilled my Thrill pin over bridge with the cg tucked under the ring finger. I was expecting this ball to go 60 ft. What I actually got was a long continuous motion that didn't sacrifice carry. The Thrill will be great on short or burnt lanes.

This ball is the newest introduction into the MOTIV line made for lighter oil conditions. The MOTIV Thrill features the new Agility XP (Striking Precision) reactive pearl cover stock combined with the new Flux core. It has a higher RG to delay ball reaction and create length needed on light oil patterns. It's very clean through the lane, therefore it retains energy and makes a strong move on the backend. It has very low differential to minimize track flare and provide ball motion control at the back end of the lane and as usually has the great continuation that MOTIV balls have become known for. It will be a great fit in your bag on light oil. The Thrill will be the ball you can count on when the lane are hooking and nothing else will go down the lane. This ball will give you much more length and control than any other ball you will find at this very affordable price. My Thrill is laid out with the pin up (above the ring), the cg slightly shifted right and no extra hole. This ball has already found a place in my bag, it's a great go to ball when the lanes are hooking. The ball is very useful on short oil patterns, on lanes with burned up headed and on older surfaces. If you need a ball at a great price point for short patterns or hooking lanes this is the ball you are looking for. Craig Auerbach MOTIV Staff Member Florida

Ball Specs: Motiv Thrill Agility XP Reactive 5500 Grit LSP Symmetrical Core Layout 70 x 4 x 30 Bowler Specs: Right Hand. PAP 5 Over 1/2 Up Rev Rate 275. Tilt 20. Rotation 50. Speed off hand 18 Review: The Thrill is a new entry in the Light Oil category for Motiv. The Thrill is available in two attractive colors, Reddish/ Wine and a Blue/ Purple. For those of us who thought the Hydra was too strong for dry lanes the Thrill may be just what we needed. The Thrill features a new lower flare core for control combined with a high RG to help get the ball down the lane. This new core is wrapped in a lower friction pearl cover. I have a lower rev rate and on our wetter house shot it was too weak but at the end of the day on total burn I could go down the boards and had plenty of length with a nice rev and flip in the back end. I have not changed the surface because I feel this would negate the intent of the ball. The Thrill has an entry level price point but is not limited to that group alone. I passed mine around to some higher rev folks and some no thumb bowlers and they were able to gain a nice reaction that did not over hook early or late. I also think bowlers with slow speeds could benefit from this Ball. The hit was also better than expected. A bowler can purchase the Thrill as their first reactive ball and get much more than they paid for. The Thrill was stronger than my Burgundy Tank on the dry but not as strong as my new Covert Tank. The Thrill read much later than the Covert but had more entry angle. So far the Red/Pink or technically the Magenta/Wine is the crowd favorite color. Summary: The Thrill is a true dry lane ball. Two nice color combinations available.

The Thrill is Motiv's new entry level/light oil condition ball. It features the brand new Flux weight block and uses the Agility XP Reactive cover. It comes in both Magenta/Wine and Blue/Purple. I drilled up a Magenta/Wine Thrill pin up at box finish, and a Blue/Purple pin down at 2000 grit. The first thing I noticed was how clean this ball gets through the heads. For me, the VSP has been my go to ball when the lanes dry up and I need something to get down the lane. The Thrill is much cleaner but does not sacrifice down lane motion or hitting power. On a burned up house shot, I moved about 4 and 1 right with the Magenta/Wine, and about 2 and 1 out with the Blue/Purple off my VSP line. My comfort zone is in the track and up the boards. The Thrill allows me to stay in that zone when everything else in my bag checks up too soon. At this price point, I feel it's the best bang for your buck on the market. Bowlers looking for their first ball that they can grow into, or those looking for a ball where you can play on the burn. Adam Yoshii Motiv Bowling and Vise Insert Staff Just Bowling Pro Shop

Review: The Motiv Thrill is the latest release from Motiv Bowling in our entry level performance. You want bang for your buck then look no further than the new Thrill. The Thrill is designed to provide length and control on the lanes when lanes become higher friction on light oil conditions. The Thrill features the new Flux weight block and combined it with new Agility XP reactive cover stock which gives the Thrill a higher RG to give it delayed ball reaction and length as lanes break down and are hooking. Get the new Thrill in two great looking colors at your local pro shop today. Weight Block Flux Cover Stock Agility XP Reactive Finish 5500 Grit LSP Comments: To be perfectly honest the Thrill has been a godsend for me this last month and a half of the bowling season. The Forge and Recoil have been great pieces in my bag and have brought me lots of success I was still missing something considering that my league nights I ball on higher friction conditions and the Thrill was that piece. I can play straighter and not move much on the lanes and can strike at will. Overall I've already had 3 300 games and 5 800 series in 3 different houses. This is most definitely the best entry level ball I have ever thrown. Higher rev players will love the Thrill because you can play straighter and not worry about the lanes hooking too much and get in trouble because it's so clean. Medium to lower rev players will like this piece because it is super clean that you can play in your wheel house all day or use this when lanes are scorched and not move much. Likes: Delayed reaction; Incredible length; continuation through the pins. Dislikes: None. I recommend this bowling ball for all types of bowlers. Weight Block: Flux™ Cover Stock: Agility™ XP Reactive Finish: 5500 Grit LSP Length: 18 Backend: 16 Hook: 46 Flare Potential: 2+ Layout: 60 x 4 ½ x 22 ½ "The thrill of new beginnings is immensely alluring!"-- Avijeet Das New beginnings can often be a thrilling experience and there is no better thrill than the all new Motiv Thrill, designed to combat lighter oil conditions and provide overall length and control when competing on high friction patterns, at the center is the new high rg Flux core which is meant to delay the overall ball motion accompanied by a low diff to provide you with a controlled ball motion and minimized track flare. The cover stock wrapped around the Flux core is the new Agility Striking Precision Reactive with an out of box surface of 5500. The Thrill will fit between your Rampage Tank and your Freestyle. The 60 x 4 ½ x 22 ½ layout I put in my Thrill gave me a strong ball motion at the breakpoint, by strong I mean it was continuous and even encountering friction. It wasn't severely sharp as the Hydra and isn't as sharp as the Freestyle Rush. On the fresh the Thrill cleared the front part of the lane with ease and when it read the friction it didn't immediately check mark, the benefit to that was being able to sit on top of the ball while still having it retain enough continuation through the pins. Upon encountering excessive friction I had no issues opening my angles and letting it corner off the pattern, should you have to play deep angles you will have no issues with smoothly cornering throughout the lane. I see the Thrill being most useful on transition and burn. Comparisons: Hydra: The ball motion of the Hydra exceeds that of the Thrill as it responds quicker to friction while possessing a sharper ball motion, overall it is bigger than the Thrill possessing more backend and hook. When I want to control the breakpoint in the friction I choose the Thrill because it isn't as responsive as Hydra, this allows me take advantage of its continuation at the breakpoint because Thrill isn't going to check mark. Freestyle Rush: Freestyle Rush is clean much like the Thrill but the difference is in the overall ball motion, the Thrill is more even and continuous than the Freestyle. Freestyle Rush isn't as sharp as Hydra encountering friction but it is sharper than that of the Thrill. Thrill is the smoother between both Freestyle Rush and Hydra. Summary: Not only do I believe in small weaponry I believe in variety as well, I feel that Motiv has achieved that with the current arsenal we have. If you have ever wanted less than your Hydra, less than your Freestyle Rush, but more than your Rampage Tank the Thrill is worth your time. It has value on fresh patterns as it allowed me to even out the pattern because of its roll, the reaction of the Agility™ XP Reactive cover stock will let you know how much or how little friction you have during battle. I very well plan on drilling the blue one next simply because I feel not only should life be full of thrills but so should my bag, this is one Thrill that isn't hard to come by and I encourage you visit your local pro shop to add to your bag. Your game will thank you for it. K.C. White II Motiv Staffer

Layout: 65 x 4" x 35 Need more kick than urethane on lighter conditions but need the reactive to be controllable? Kickstart your game with the new Thrill. Sporting two new technologies for MOTIV, this ball brings a great balance between light oil performance and controlling the breakpoint. Agility XP Reactive (55000 LSP) is a fine-tuned cover for those light and burned conditions that allows the ball to clear fronts and mids well so that it can take advantage of the fiction downlane rather than bleeding it early. The Flux weight block (2.57RG, .015 Diff) was designed to help the ball get down the lane but still create a stable motion once it makes its move towards the pins. Though I have a higher-than-average rev rate, I gave myself a stronger pin-to-PAP layout so that I could take advantage of the Thrill's versatility. The first true test I had for my Wine/Magenta version was on day-after, leftover league conditions. I was pleasantly surprised by the range of motion I had in playing on these conditions with this ball. To start I played as close to the friction as I could, which by that time was crossing around 20 but not swinging through the dirt. The Thrill cleared the fronts easily then read that early burned friction without immediately jumping. What this allowed me to do was play a mid-lane hook reaction that still left pop at the breakpoint for continuation through the pins. No one else I was practicing with could come close to that line with anything they had. After I felt comfortable with seeing the ball do that, I then jumped more than an arrow left and tried swinging to the friction. Whereas shots before the ball read the mids and smoothly controlled its reaction to the pocket, this new line let the ball glide down to the breakpoint before making a strong change of direction towards the 1-3. While still not jumpy, being able to play such a deep angle with a smooth motion to the pocket would be quite fortuitous had I been bowling for score later in a long tournament block. For comparison, my Hydra would get cleanly down the lane as well but would jump significantly harder at the spot; this equated to almost a full arrow's worth of move for me. Whether you need a lighter-condition piece, or you're looking to give someone their first reactive ball, the Thrill is a good ball to want.
