65 x 4 1/8 x 30 Bowler Stats: Rev Rate – 400-425 Ball Speed – 16.5 mph (down-lane) PAP – 3 3/4 over, zero Right-handed Test Environment: 2021 PBA Bear Review: The Purple Tank. Having been a fan of the entire Microcell Polymer line, especially the Tank Blitz, I knew this would be a great addition to the lineup. From the looks of the 1000 Grit finish, my prediction was fairly simple in knowing how early the Purple Tank would read into the oil pattern. What I was more curious about was what kind of downlane shape will it create, and how far will it let me migrate my feet to the left. I was fairly surprised at how continuous it was once it came off of the end of the pattern. While the Tank Blitz is the overall stronger of the two, this combination is an absolute force that is hard to stop. Likes: Great compliment to Tank Blitz Early read of the lane Dislikes: None Summary: Common in reactive equipment, and with how early the urethane reads up front, the signature continuation showed itself as it does not go more "forward" as most would anticipate. Understanding the use of how and when to use urethane in today's game is highly important. For my style and preference of laneplay on the fresh patterns, the Tank Blitz was been my benchmark for quite a while. Although the Purple Tank doesn't create a bigger motion downlane, its ability to read the front part of the lane similarly has become a great option for when the Tank Blitz is just a bit too much. This combination has become a staple in my arsenal and travels with me everywhere. Darryl Carreon MOTIV Staff / PBA Member

Purple Tank Layout: 80 x 4 5/8 40 Coverstock: Purple Solid Urethane Core: Flux Type: Symmetrical Box Finish: 1000 Grit LSS Video: Motiv Purple Tank Layout: 80 x 4 ⅝ x 40 Strengths Purple Tank uses its energy early and provides a smoother back end read to that of Blitz, Desert, and Covert. Purple Solid Urethane is predictable at the breakpoint, and will provide you with a smoother ball motion downlane when compared to Frixion+ Microcell Polymer. If you are needing a smoother option outside of Microcell Polymer Pearl I encourage you to look at Purple Solid Urethane, it will afford you with excellent control at the breakpoint. Weaknesses I've had minimal success using Purple Tank on heavier patterns, Purple Solid Urethane Coverstock doesn't carve a lane as Mircocell Polymer Frixtion or MXC Coercion would which makes persfect sense as it isn't supposed to. Overall Summary The weapon of mass destruction known as Purple Tank comes at a surface of 1000 sanded finish, at its core is the Flux core that was also used in Desert Tank and Thrill. As early as Purple Tank starts its ball motion the Flux core makes it rather useful to a variety of styles, the smooth motion it provides downlane will blend out the breakpoint should the breakpoint become difficult for you to control. Typically urethane is a weapon that I don't use unless an opportunity presents itself, and that opportunity is rare. Save for heavier patterns I didn't expect this type of versatility out of Purple Tank or how muscular its ball motion was, Purple Solid Urethane gave me no problems reading upfront and eliminated breakpoint volatility. Although Purple Tank did corner for me I was very comfortable playing right for the majority of the night, even when I used it in later blocks of tournaments my foot wasn't in the gutter. In the event Microcell Polymer Pearl became too much Purple Solid Urethane would get me home, out of all the urethane weapons Motiv has created Purple Tank is the best one thus far in my hands. If you have Desert Tank in your bag and feel you need a smaller option, if you need to control breakpoint volatility, if you are skeptical about urethane weaponry and you're open to trying it for yourself then I encourage you to Tank a look at Purple Tank. Your game will thank you for it K.C. White II Motiv Staff IAMBowling Staff

With the game constantly evolving, a good urethane ball and knowing how to use it has become an essential ball in everyone's bags. I'm a huge fan of urethane and use it when I can and if you don't have a Purple Tank in your bag, you're absolutely missing out. I've used my Purple Tank a lot on fresher patterns when there's a ton of oil up front and the back ends are flying. The Purple Tank reads a lot sooner than the reactive balls, taming the back end of the pattern down, but still packs plenty of punch for the pins. Everyone needs one of these! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Rxcpa3-XtFE&list=PLscVmKoD2Q1scVcFnXQmb7di9dUPdo4ur&index=4

The Purple Tank is a light oil ball which is true urethane! This ball features the high RG, low flaring Flux weight block which helps the Purple tank have maximum control both in the mid-lane and on the back part of the lane. When facing the high viscosity oil and flat sport patterns in our modern game, Motiv now has an awesome option to help all bowlers get the control they need to attack the pattern and strike in this environment. MOTIV Purple Tank The Purple Tank is a special piece in the line up. It provides total control and reliability on the lanes. I have been throwing this piece a lot since I received my 1st one. From tournaments to league it's been getting a lot of use. I used a 4.5' pin layout to help it get down the lane while allowing it to still create shape off the end of the pattern. The cover is also very versatile in cover changes. Shined up it's able to store energy and shape more off the end of the pattern and with lower surface it's able to start up earlier keep that smooth traditional urethane shape. The purple Tank I've been using the most is at 3k surface. If you're looking for a controllable piece or something for higher friction backends check out the Purple Tank today! I hope my video says it all about this ball. I have never thrown a urethane ball ever. This is the first one i have ever owned. I'm really going to love this ball on the shorter patterns and when my Tank Blitz starts to hook more than I need it too. This ball is very clean on the lanes and i don't know why I never thrown a urethane ball before. Derek Dillon Motiv Staff

Layout 60 x 4" x 30 Not all urethanes are created equal. After years of testing and development, which included the fortuitous development of microcell polymer technology, the Purple Tank has arrived and is staking its claim as a seminal ball in modern urethane. By pairing the new Purple Solid Urethane coverstock (finished at 1000 LSS) with the taller Flux Symmetric core (2.57 RG, .015 differential), a superior reaction amongst other balls in its category has been achieved. I have not been someone who has often thought of throwing urethane since I am a tweener and can get left and throw the ball out to where the friction is. While the hype of this ball grew on me into thinking I might be able to effectively use it, I was not prepared for exactly how stunning its versatile reaction truly is. The first time I threw it was in game two of a league night. This strong shell had no issues reading the lane early enough to start a good, strong motion to the pocket while eliminating the volatility of the backend over/under that had developed. When I would miss a little outside, the taller Flux core would provide just enough wobble to get the ball to tip up in the friction and hit the pocket while continuing through the 5-pin strongly. There is a good chance that I could have thrown this on the fresh that night and seen just as good of a reaction. The next time I tried this ball in league was a game three where both teams had scorched the track-and-left area. Even though I had to be further left than I was comfortable with urethane (at the time), this ball did not disappoint. I was able to open up the lane thanks to the cover/core combination allowing more energy retention than a typical urethane would be able to produce. While I wasn't wheeling the lane like a reactive ball, the sheer strength of movement this modern urethane unleashed was more than any urethane I had ever thrown, or seen thrown, before. If you are looking for a urethane ball that creates more motion and power than urethanes that have come before it, grab a Purple Tank. If you need something for drier conditions or oil patterns that you need the utmost control on the backend, grab a Purple Tank. If you are a urethane skeptic but are willing to try something that can dramatically change your mind about the abilities of urethane, grab a Purple Tank. Basically, if you're a bowler, just grab a Purple Tank. Trent Overbey In the Zone Pro Shop MOTIV Staff www.motivbowling.com

The Purple Tank is the first true urethane release by Motiv in a long time and it's a homerun! I haven't used a lot of urethane on the regional tour, but I will definitely have at least one of these with me at all times, as it's the perfect compliment to the microcell polymer tanks when you're looking for just a little less shape overall. Being a lefty, this ball will also come in handy for me when the pattern is beat up and instead of moving further inside, I can move further left and not worry about the ball over hooking in the friction. This is a huge game changer for me and it will be for you as well! Layout: 60 x 4 1/1 x 40 MOTIV Staffer Devon Miller

The BEST PURPLE URETHANE! The layout I used on the Purple Tank is 60x4x20. The Purple Tank is special, because unlike most urethanes, this one can shape the lane. I have had plenty of success with urethane balls over the past few years and have drilled plenty of them. The most common problem with urethane when you are throwing it is lane shine. A lot of modern urethane balls lane shine fast, however this one does seem to keep its finish a lot better than most. A Tank Blitz and a Purple Tank are perfect for fresh oil patterns. Being a lefty, you can bet I will have a bag mixed with red and purple! Drew Crain Motiv Staff
