Bought ball for dryer lane conditions not burnt but for when other equipment started moving too much. Drilled ball with a label leverage had to add a balance hole. Ball was advertised as "old Burgandy style " ball but with new cover.. I had 2 of the old burgandy and they hooked nothing like this ball.. On fresh oil ball moved alot more than i expected, rev'd up early then started going left. I took ball to 1500 grit and polished but with not much success, went a little longer but still moved more than i wanted on the back end. When i did hit the pocket I did get great pin action and carry, that part I am happy with, Just wanted a little tamer ball than this since I already have other balls that will chew through the mid part of the lane. Will probably plug and set the ball different to see if can get more length out of it.

Got this ball about 3 months ago... When I first got the ball I really liked it... of course I was bowling on a house shot, and when the ball touched the dry outside it flipped hard and came back with enough power to get the corner pin out... I moved out, increased the speed and took some hand out, and it got down the lane really well before flipping hard..... But, in college we don't find a lot of house shots, and we look less to the forgiveness factor (hook in dry and slide in oil) and more for the consistency factor (more consistent movement)... this ball just doesn't cut it for a difficult shot with oil to the outsides, because it just doesn't have enough to come back from the slick boards..... I would recommend this ball whole-heartedly to bowlers who are looking for a good ball, with a "throwback" feel to it.... for instance, the Pure Hammer Burgundy is more complimentary to my older equipment than some of my newer stuff... it rolls more like the old pearlized versions of s

Ball Specs: 15 lbs. 3 ozs, 3'' pin. Drilled pin over middle finger with the cg kicked out 45 degrees in my palm. This provides great length with a smooth arcing move to the pocket. I love this ball, I picked it up to help handle some specific conditions I was facing in second shift leagues and certain tournament shots. I needed something that would give me a controllable reaction on lighter oil and shorter patterns, without jerking left when it hits the drier backends. I also needed the ball to be able to have enough drive to get through the moderate carrydown found in my 2nd shift league. This ball fulfills both needs beautifully, it cruises down the lane picks up a nice midlane roll and makes a smooth, controllable arc to the pocket. Once it arrives at the pocket it blows up the pins in typical Hammer fashion. However, It is condition specific, if there is too much oil, or too much carrydown, it will not react enough to get back to the pocket. But that is not what I have it dri

Ball was drilled with pin next to ring finger and CG near center of my grip line. Pin was out 2-3 inches. This ball suprised me at how much it hooked. Not a drastic hook, but a controllable arc. I was able to play straight up the boards at the second arrow all night. The carry was excellent, except for an occasional 4 pin. Lately, the new equipment seems to be extremely wet/dry sensative and I have difficulty with over-reaction. If you are looking for a ball that will put confidence back into your game, then this may be the ball for you. I'm so sattisfied with this ball that I'm taking my Kong and Detour home and leaving them in the basement.

I drilled up the Pure Hammer Burgandy with the pin 5 inches from my PAP (positive axis point) and the cg 4 1/2 inches. I found the Pure Hammer Burgandy to work best on 2nd shift or light oil partterns. With the layout that I used, the ball gave me the reaction of old. I was able to play the extreme outside line and go up the boards. The ball would hook and set right in the pocket. The ball motion at the break point was a smooth arcing motion to the pocket. The Hammer Pure Hammer Burgandy will give you a reaction that hasn't been seen in a long time. solid. It you are looking for something to give you the reaction of old Urethane on today's lane conditions, put the Burgandy Pure Hammer in your bag. This ball is exactly what I expected from the original PURE. It is very clean through the fronts, starts to roll in the mids, and arcs like old urethane off of the dry. This ball is not overly dry sensitive. This one needs more dry to get it to hook than the original PURE. This resembles the old urethane Hammer reaction much more closely. LAYOUT: 5.5” pin Grip line layout. CG just above Center of grip- no Xhole NOTE: this ball does not have the recovery of the original PURE. The original was way stronger than the old urethanes--this one resembles the old urethane reaction.<s
