I remember buying the Burgundy Hammer back in 1994 as a piece for medium to medium-oily conditions and a complement to my Blue Hammer. Of course now well into the 21st century, it's been relegated to spare ball status and is still a complement to my Blue Hammer. A very consistent roll. A ball one can feel extremely comfortable using on most lane conditions to pick up spares. The ball's numbers (2.52 RG, .020 differential) suggested that it went just a touch farther than the Blue Hammer. My suggestion to those who still have their original Fab Burgundy (and Blue) Hammer is to keep it. Don't let the times fool you. This ball still has functionality and use!

I brought this ball off of ebay for $20. My father and automatically noticed it had been redrilled 3 times. I just started bowling the week of Thanksgiving and my average is now 197.3 using this ball. I've never seen a ball that ever cause so much destruction upon impact. My Dad bowling with a Black Widow and he was so impressed he's even looking for one now. Many times after bowling many games I have seen where I lose my shot and it comes back strong everytime for a strike or 9 count. I recommend this ball everyone.

This ball is a nice smooth reacting ball. once in a while if the lanes are dry enough i will throw it as my primary ball because its angularity is excellent for a urethane ball. but otherwise this ball only comes out of my bag when i leave ten pins. i was horrible at making ten pins untill i starting using this ball now they are easy to make because the ball never snaps away from the ten pin which i love. it has helped me raise my average to 198 which is where i currently stand. great ball for spares.

I was visiting my In-Laws in Ohio over the Christmas holidays, and was invited to go bowling with the husband of my wifes best friend. I mentioned to my father-in-law that I was going bowling and he remembered that my brother-in-law had "an old ball in the garage". Well, this "old ball' was a mint Burgundy Hammer. It was 16 pounds (I usually throw 15's) but the span was almost perfect, (a little tape and I was in business). It was drilled in a standard pattern with the pin below and slighty to the left of my ring finger. The lanes we bowled at were combination with a heavy oil, blocked pattern. After getting used to the ball during the first game I settled in throwing it over the third arrow and swinging it out to about the 7-8 board. This ball was AWESOME, it was so smooth, and so easily controllable. It hit the pins like a runaway bus and recovered even when I threw it out too far right. Once I got used to it I threw a 673 series with ease and was amazed at the balls performance. Th

I got this ball in high school and was instantly amazed with it. It had a leverage drilling pattern that was a carbon copy of my Blue Hammer. I was amazed at the hitting power and pin action that I saw. I could send it out over the 2nd arrow and have a pocket hit everytime. Only thing was it let me know when I missed the 2nd arrow. I got 2 more balls to try replacing it, but I always wound up going back. The only problem I had was having its bridge shatter after 40 games. I used superglue to re-enforce and stabilize what was left and sanded off the glue that was left on the surface after it dried. Its has been a great go to ball, but I had to retire it because I didn't want to carry 3 bags. I still pull it out of mothballs to this day in order to iron out any mechanics and accuracy problems that come up. I wonder why they didn't bring this one back in 2001...

I would recomend this ball, if one can find it, to the stroker or the "tweener". It does still have great action on wood and synthetic lanes and will not dissapoint. I only wish that Faball/Hammer was still around to bring back some of the truly old and reliable products that still rock the house. But if you can get one from an auction or discount warehouse, do so. It will not disappoint! I have move exclusively to the Hammer line and encourage my competition to do the same...not with my words...but with my scores...then my taunting words!<s

yep i bowled my first 200(279) with this ball 8 strikes in a row perfect as can be but i choked.. :-(. Overall everyone should have this ball in his possesion. sometimes if the ball goes straight toward the head pin i say 75% of the time it will strike. i would reccomend to get th 16lb ball. Because with the HAmmer the heavier the better chance for you to get a X. Also the hammerhas good pin action most of the time when i strike i see the pins all fall @ once. i also picked up a 7-10 split with this ball :-) lucky me!

Fantastic ball for conditions that you need control...drilled stacked leverage, polished to 3000grit.....also used for sparing. Must be very careful when drilling, as the coverstock can be very brittle......Must make sure the bridge is the correct width. Hits like a truck, NO DEFLECTION AT ALL.......If the heads are a little dry, it may roll a little early, as it does have a pretty agressive cover for a urethane ball, even polished.....Just find a trace of head oil, and some backends, and watch the smooth arc carry through the pins........An oldie, but still a goodie.
