Ebonite Xcel Particle Bowling Ball

Xcel Particle, available in 14 – 16 pounds, is ideal for high volume, longer patterns. Ebonite’s Bomber coverstock, which is composed of two different particles, allows the ball to store of energy and save the majority of ball motion for the backend. The Xcel Particle, the company’s biggest hooking particle ball, looks tough with its Black, Royal Blue and Purple color combination.

I like this ball considering it was a replacement for my messenger that was getting redrilled during my disrict tournament. when lanes break down better have a different ball. this ball was drilled with two inch pin out and has a balance hole about an inch lower than my ring finger hole. the balnce hole was originally placed in the wrong spot causing some confusion in the pro shop but after throwing three games i found the spot. I really prefer columbia but this ball has started to change my mind. next ball will be a tough decision between ebonite and columbia

Muck 12/25/2005 12:41:43 PM Call me satisfied Likes: I like the way the ball gets through the front part of the lane and takes an immediate left turn when it finds any hint of dry. Dislikes: This ball wasn't a big hooker when I used it on synthetic lanes which were oiled HEAVY. This is overall a great ball. I used it for two years and got my first 300 and 800 with it. I played a pretty straight line with it and it worked (averaged 232 and 217 with it). I throw the ball pretty fast (21-22 mph), but when I came in light the ball rips the rack apart and usually leaves nothing. Only thing is when I'm high or high-flush you are most likely looking at a split which gets very frustrating. The ball leaves few 10 pins unless the lanes are oily and the ball is difficult to use after carrydown has taken place.

this ball is great ,I bought this ball to try out the new line and was totally impressed with the new core ,it was very driller friendly and rolled very well , I think it is by far the best ball I have thrown since I bought my Player .This ball is suited well for oil and kills the pins . It has one drawback and that is very high maintence I cleaned it alot but it was worth it for the reaction.I am wanting to try the xxcel next ,I am trying the xcel pearl now with little sucess, but we will see if that changes.

If you have just purchased this ball and aren't too sure about it, just be patient and don't be afraid to play deep. For the 1st 10-15 games, it rolled real early and burned up all it's energy before hitting the pins. My pro-shop operator suggested that I keep the factory finish on the ball for a while and let it soak up some oil. I did that for a few games and then got it polished. After that the ball has just been amazing. It reads the lane very well and provides a smooth and contiuous backend with great carry power. There have been some occasions where I had to move way inside and play the 4th and 5th arrows and this ball still had the power to slap out the 10-pin. I think you will have a hard time finding another ball with such a smooth, predictable reaction and so much hitting power.

The best heavy oil ball I have ever used, PERIOD! This ball hooks 5-8 boards more than either the Primal or Killer Instinct, hooks 8-10 boards more than the V2 Strong and 12 boards more than the V2 Particle. Is way more predictable than any Ebonite ball that I have used on heavy oil in the past. I have used Ebonite exclusively for 3 years now and have won a lot of money in both league and tournaments during that time. This ball makes an early move and keeps on moving, no matter how much oil. Hits like a truck, kicks around a lot of messengers. BUY THIS BALL NOW!!

it was an okay ball it dident really fit my style to well. I normally throw down second arrow and swing it out to five. The ball would start reving up to early and would cross over on most shots . But what I did like is that it always recovered but would normaly cross over. It did hit like a mac truck the few times it did hit the pocket. The problem i had with the ball is how quick it starts reving up and i could not get the ball to hold down the lane. if you want a ball that starts hooking almost as soon as it touchs the lanes it is the ball for you

With the Xcel, the best line I have found is for to go long and from there let the ball do the work. As soon as the Xcel gets down there where it loves to crush pins, your going to find that this ball gives you high scores and most importantly looks good. I have had this ball for 4 months throwing it as much as any of my other balls and my highest game with the Xcel is 279 and I am still just getting the hang of it. If you don't like picking up ten pins or seven pins throw it long and let her do the work. Good Luck and Good Bowling

Xcel Particle is my first ball for heavy to medium oil. Previous one, Tornado Royal Sparkle, was good enough for light oil and allowed me to hit about 170 average. So, Xcel Part is a good for longer and oiled patterns cause it starts to hooking as soon as reach clear backend surface. For stroker like me with medium rolling speed it is ideal ball for heavy and heavy to medium oil lane conditions. My hit technique is from 17 to 10 (second arrow) for heavy oil and from 19-20 to 10-11 (just a bit left of second arrow) for medium oil. Drilling like #4 ( http://www.ebonite.com/techcenter/drilling_instructions.php?title=BOMBS%20Down) allows me to reach a compromise between ball construction and my throwing technique, many thanx to my driller. DO NOT FORGET: Particle surface does not like oil on it. Always use towers each time before a throw. P.S. Sorry for any grammer mistakes, English is not my native language :-)

This is a follow up to my last post on this ball. I got the ball drilled after an Ebonite Demo Day and it was as great as it was on the demo day. This ball gave me surprising length for a particle ball. Great overall hook and awesome hitting power. Took a few games to adjust to the amount of hook this ball has. High set so far is 741 with 279 as high game. This ball is very versatile for me. This is the first gall that allowed me to play real deep in the oil and still finish well enough to carry. I am able to play 15 to 15 in the oil and the ball still finishes and carries. Just a great ball probably the best out there right now.<scr

I threw this ball last Sunday at an Ebonite Demo Day at my local bowling center. I used this ball about 15 minutes and fell it love. I was expecting to not like it much because I have never really had luck with particle balls but boy was I wrong. I played 15 to anything right. Throwing this ball I had about 15 boards of area. I pulled it in the oil and it turned up and finished, pushed it out and it flipped and drilled the pocket. I could not do any wrong with this ball. I threw about 5 balls of practice on one pair them moved to another pair and started striking. I ended up throwing 18 strikes in a row before leaving a 10 pin in a house that is known for not carrying corner pins. I could not believe it my self, 18 in a row with a ball the first time I ever threw it, and that wasn't drilled to fit me but a demo ball. This ball is the next ball on my list of balls to get. After I get it I will post an update on my own ball fitted for me.

This ball is replacing my V2 Particle in my arsenal. I had it drilled the same way as that one which is Drilling #2 for this ball. Ball revs up nicely and makes a strong turn. Ebonite has out done themselves with this one!! If there is oil this ball is exactly as advertised.....will get through the oil and give you the backend angle needed to rip the rack. If the lanes are dry.....put the ball away fast and take out your V2 Clean. Really not much else to say except that I am very happy wiht this ball and that I moved down to 15 lbs.

I drilled it with the pin 4" from my pap up and to the right of my ring finger and the MB in the stong position and let me tell ya. When this ball turns it doesnt stop, on house patterns that is. I have drilled alot of ebonite balls and this one is one of the smoothest and hardest arcing balls that I have seen in a while. It has suprising lentgh for a particle ball. Gets rid of any wet dry that you might run into. In my opinion it is one of Ebonites best balls.I would recomend this ball to anyone looking for a very predictable particle ball that hooks a ton.

This ball is a must have.It works great with many different shots. It hits hard and gets great carry. The ball may be expencive at your local house but if you go to a ball demo or get it online you can get it pritty cheap......I would definetly spend the money . This ball is definely a must buy.I Have only been bowlin for two years and have been able to shoot two 300's, 299, 290 , 280, and many 279's but would have not been able to do any of this with out ebonite balls !!! If you live in the New York area I highly going to Smithtown Bowling alley to get your balls drilled. He not only drills balls great but will give you great deal. aNick the owner is also part the Ebonite team
